Slowly rising to her paws, Soleil watched as her 'kill' was dragged off by a 'zombie'. She couldn't help but giggle to herself about that, and wondered if this whole exercise was making her lose her sanity. All the better to scare the Nergui, she supposed. She heard the commotion from above and turned to watch as Azar'bijan was toppled. A cubbish thought suddenly came to mind, and the blood red lioness got to her paws and hurried over to her uncle...
And then flopped right across his body. "Lion pile on Uncle Azar!"

As he was felled, Badieh watched as he had attempted one last strike towards her. But as his side hit the ground, eyes looking up, she walked to him, and took a step towards his side, crouching slightly and offered a smile, and her side so that he may stand...once the female had her fun of course. She held in a laugh at such fun behavior after such tense times in the game.
"We may have been enemies within this game...but we are pridemates, family, and we will stand and fight as one."
She felt a great pride in herself and the others here, seeing so much strength, knowing she had it within herself.
They would show these nergui to not return to the desert...for their fire would consume them.

Mwako'Damu watched as a niece of Azar came to him, laying across his body and how Badieh showed such honor and respect to Azar. Mwako dipped his head to the red lion, an apologetic look in his eyes, "I hope I did not use too much force, my friend," he said with a hint of a smile.
"Just as Badieh spoke, we will stand together, and today has shown what a true test of strength we all have if we stand together as one force, we will remain strong."

Kai caught her breath and strode to Hraga and dipped her head as well, Ka following soon after. "Sorry for the delay, Hraga, got a little..held up, thanks to someone's lack of direction," Kai said with a laugh looking to Ka.
"Yes, but, we shall be there no matter the hour, to stand with you and all here, or even for those who could not attend. We will lend our strength under your, Azar's, or any's guidance, as this is our home, our pride, and our fire shall not be relinquished."
Ryujin looked to the two of them and shook his head and took a step away from Naar so she had as much space as she pleased. He looked to her with silver eyes and leaned into her, touching his forehead to hers, "and I swear to you, no matter the hour, nor the number that oppose, I shall protect you...and all else here."

It was sort of frustrating that she hadn't even been too involved in Azar's defeat, but still, she felt proud as the lion hit the floor. She might have hooted or roared, perhaps to boast their victory, but instead just stood there and smiled. Team one had won! That was very good. Very, very good.
Azar was not her uncle, and neither was she the sort of lioness to engage in something as ridiculous as a playful dog pile. She huffed, then looked at Hraga, their leader. Then back to Azar, as a few lions gathered around him.
"... now what?"
It was good to see Roho calming down. It was also good to see Azar fall, because it meant the end of these activities. "I suppose you can get up now?" He suggested, looking down at Roho, curiously. He didn't know if the medics still wanted to go through and pretend-save people.
Tswana wasn't really close enough to hear, but she didn't really care now, and gathering her paws beneath her, she sat up. She was very glad it was all over. Those last moments, being surrounded by so many lions. It was scary, and it angered her to realize she'd felt that way.
She glanced, briefly, at Sjari, wondering if she should thank him. Or avoid him, out of embarrassment. She could decide on that later, and instead looked at Hraga, then around. Perhaps someone would come? Kalama's words ecchoed her own thoughts. What did they do now?

"Bah!" Azar expelled a great breath of air and lifted up his head to spy his niece who had seen fit to pin him to the ground. "I'm dead, girl. Dead!" And his head lolled back to the ground again. He looked like he might have been sulking just a little and his tail thwapped loudly against the ground - a sign of his mood at having been beaten.
He didn't seem to be in a hurry to get up. He was worried that, if he did, he might stagger and show how tired he was. These people were not his enemy. It didn't matter if he showed weakness now. But he had his pride to consider and Azar had a lot of pride.
--
Roho nodded, putting the defensive walls back up and dragging herself up onto her paws. She bumped against Sjari in silent thanks and then moved over to sit close to Azar.
"The games are over. Now we must absorb what we have learned."
And they had learned, if she thought carefully about it, quite a lot. Not only about strategy and using the land to their advantage, but also about their allies' strengths and weaknesses. It gave Roho a lot to think about. A lot indeed, considering the moment of panic when she had been so surrounded...
--
Naar gave a grumbling, rough purr and leaned up into Ryujin's touch. "I know you will." But she looked disheartened and sad. "But what about me? Who can I protect?" She didn't necessarily want it answered and she sat, heavily, her brows knitted with worry.

Mkazo threw himself into the fray, paws swinging, ears slicked back, and a fiercely joyous expression on his face. This was what he'd been born for - his mother, his father, his ancestors, warriors. He didn't take anyone out, and this caused a burst of irritation and a muttered oath as his expression darkened for a moment, but they were winning.
As Azar fell, they had won.
He tossed his head back and roared in triumph, his tail lashing back and forth behind him. They would keep sharpening themselves in such a way, and when the Nergui came...they would find a weapon fit to cleave them in two.

She had landed a few glancing blows, but nothing that swayed the fight either way. Regardless, she was part of the final 'battle' that brought down their enemies. As the last of them hit the ground, she joined in the roar or victory. Her blood sang in a strange manner, very unlike anything else she'd experienced, either before or after the death of her nephew. Even after the roar, a growl rumbled in her throat, and her tail lashed agitatedly. This... this was something she could do. Something to give her purpose. She knew by looking around that she'd never be as good as many of them, for their size and background gave them the upper paw. But she was capable, willing, and now knew that it could be fulfilling. Meaning, purpose, drive... all the things that had been lacking in her empty non-life now had been reborn. Not in the image they had once manifested, but in a new, darker, fiercer way. She was home. She threw her head back and gave another roar, this one defiant and heart-breaking.

Ryujin stayed close to Naar and nudged her chin up with a paw, making ehr eyes meet his, "You can protect whom you wish, you just need to believe in the strength that I see in you," he said with a smile. "It is in your heart," he said moving his paw from beneath her chin to softly pressing against the center of her chest, "and it will guide you to what you are meant to do. Do not doubt, you have a great strength, it flickers in your eyes so I know it lays within your spirit."

(( @_@ Missed....EVERYTHING. D= So gutted. Still, super grateful for this event, and all the effort that was put into it. heart I really hope that something like this happens again! ))
As soon as they were given the signal, Teketeza pounced into action. With a mighty roar, he jumped straight off the top of the rocks, aiming for the Team Two member that was closest. She was quick to dodge though, causing the large grey male to land hard on all four paws. He snarled viciously, looking all around him for someone to tackle.
It was chaos. Everything had gone from being boring and organised to wild and furious within seconds. For a moment, it was difficult to pick out Azar's Team, as most of the lions present had red coats. He was quite sure that he wouldn't have this problem when fighting the Nergui, but still, it was incredibly frustrating.
His tail whipped violently from side to side as he looked for Azar. As he navigated the 'battlefield', he lashed out here and there, bumping hard into those that he thought were Team Two members, even if they were. Then suddenly, it was all over. Azar had been taken out. Without his help.
"WHAT?" Teketeza hissed, unable to hide his discontent. The war was over, and in his opinion, he hadn't played a big enough part. To say that he was furious was an understatement. Everyone else seemed to be having a great time, now chatting amongst theirselves about how it had all gone and what they had learned.
Teeth bared, he marched over to the group. "Do you want to know what I've learned? Nothing, that's what. Nothing that I didn't already know." He flashed a dark glare over to Kaanga and Mpaji. "I already knew not to trust the enemy, not to bother listening to what they had to say, and I was right! The moment I see a Nergui, I will kill it. Otherwise, we'll simply be giving them time for the rest of their forces to prepare." He then snarled in the direction of Roho and Sjari. "I also learned that Hongshan aren't cut out for battle. You're all a liability!" Teketeza eyed the group, daring anyone to contradict him. "Like I said, this was stuff I already knew. Stuff that all Firekin should already know."
It was so hard for Ukuba to watch from the sidelines, not being able to fight alongside his brother. At this point, he couldn't even see his brother. The area suddenly became clouded with dust, and the air was filled with shouting and roaring. The final battle had begun. Purple eyes darted all over the area. He could only pick up flashes of colour between the rocks, so was unable to spot Isifo at all during all the chaos.
At one point, he managed to spot Tswana and Sjari. Sjari was dragging Tswana, who it appeared was a member of the other team. He allowed himself a small smile, as it pleased him to see that Sjari was helping her, even though he was a member of the opposite team. When the call finally went up at Azar was 'dead', Ukuba ran over to where the 'battle' had been fought. He spotted his brother Isifo stood by his fellow Hongshan. He quickly moved over to him, nuzzling him breifly on the shoulder. "I ok ku srod sros aeui ora koka." He was just so relieved that his brother was safe, it was as if he had been fighting a real war. For the Hongshan though, maybe these so called games just hit a little too close to home.
When the large grey male spoke up, Ukuba frowned deeply. He remembeed that one from various group meetings that he had attended. He seemed quite volatile, and was clearly not a fan of the Hongshan. The dark red male continued frowning as he turned back to the other Hongshan. "Jiks esmura rek." If they ignored him, it would prevent any of them from stooping to his level. Some Firekin just seemed impossible to reason with.

As the grey male, Teketeza was his name, she thought, became angered after all was said and done, became enraged. But by what? His lack of understanding? Badieh watched as he became so encompassed with his ill feelings, and began verbally lashing out. As he began saying he learned nothing, Badieh could only hope he could come to grip with seeing passed his own selfish wants and needs in battle.
But.
Then.
He dared bring the Hongshan into his rage, and she snarled at his raising her head, tail lashing as she pounded a paw down on the ground.
"How dare you speak ill of anyone! For you to have learned nothing is by all rights your problem, no one else's...You'd be wise to learn quickly, and become silent when no words you speak bring any useful information."
She moved away from him, not wanting to have the ill feelings prolong themselves any further and moved to stand with Sjari and offered a smile to him, and to the other Hongshan present. "Everyone fought well today, and showed themselves worthy in the atmosphere of battle, do not let his words rile you or any other..." she shrugged her shoulders and shook her head some and took a breath and half smirked, "couldn't help myself I guess," she said while nudging against Sjari.

Naar blinked, offering him a cautious smile and then leaned into him. And then there were raised voices and she flinched. "Someone is unhappy." The large grey one apparently. "The Hongshan were...weak?" She blinked. "But...did we not have Hongshan on our team who stayed 'alive'?"
Wow, if the Hongshan were weak then what was she?
She gave a withering sigh, stood up, and moved to depart. This was all getting too much to bear.
--
Thankfully, Roho was too tired to respond to the grey lion. Perhaps he fancied a fight, she thought. Maybe he wanted one of the Hongshan to challenge him. Perhaps her? And if so, it'd have to wait for another day. It had been a trying morning and she, if no one else, had learned something about herself.
She offered a soft snort in response and cast her eyes over to Ukuba. To him she gave only a nod.
--
"Teketeza has a point." Azar mumbled from where he lay on the ground. "No amount of practise is going to prepare us for what lies ahead. Where claws are unsheathed and lions cut down." He gave a low groan as he pushed himself up into a sitting position, shaking out his mane. "But, that's why the drills and practise are important. Because most of us don't know real war and this is the closest thing we can get to preparation."
He eyed Roho sceptically for a moment. Were the Hongshan people weak? And if so, was it something they could overcome? Well, if they ended up in his team he'd make sure they were the damned best. Because that's what he did. He didn't settle for second best and he never would.

When her uncle sat up, Soleil tumbled off. Well, sort of tumbled. She sat next to him, listening to her brother's words(What did she call him, cousin or half-brother? Brother was easiest), then their uncle's. She let out a puff of breath. "Well, we could always engage another pride as practice... What if the Nergui draw us outside the desert to engage us? They may know we have home advantage - Most of us grew up in these lands, we know the dunes like the backs of our paws even when they shift and move around..."
"I think that Soleil is right about practice in other territories... A friendly game with another pride, as it were, so they don't mistake our intents as ACTUAL war... It's good practice for both..." He then turned his gaze over to Teketeza. "But I don't think the Hongshan are weak. They put up as good a fight as any of the other rogues to join the pride in this game, and despite lack of experience, how man have eeked in from across the northern border that even most of we the Firekin don't cross? I think while they have a lot to learn from us.. We have things to learn from them, too."
"We could start with that pride we set up an outpost at... Practice with them..." If she'd heard word right, they were all females in that pride with few males. It'd be a good exercise for the lionesses to know how to defend themselves, she thought... Just in case someone ELSE wanted something from them.

A low growl worked itself up in Hraga's chest. "Enough," he said sharply. "Teketeza, if you'd like to find us a real war you are more than welcome to start searching. Just don't be surprised when you've driven everyone from your back."
The young lion pushed past the group. Minor agitation aside, he was more than pleased. In fact, he was practically brimming. He hoped Azar would be proud! And...well, not hold a grudge for the rest of the week. But by the sounds of it, the corporal was in good spirits. As far as Hraga was concerned, this had been a more than successful exercise.
"As far as I'm concerned, the Hongshan did fine," he glanced over his shoulder. "Anyone who can take down Armada in the middle of a rampage is okay in my book." Or at least, Ea's book!
"I do believe it is customary to party after a war game." Actually he was making this up, but he was certainly hopeful that there was some form of victory celebration in store!

A celebration certainly sounded in order to Mkazo's ears. Their team had won, hadn't they? "Damn right we should party," he barked out. "We fought, we won. If this were a war, we'd still be alive." He smirked as he glanced over the other team, his tail twitching in amusement. "And the enemy wouldn't be." He couldn't help gloating. They'd won, and he'd done his part, had even been the first to take someone out. He'd like to see someone - anyone - try to say he didn't belong here now.
"Well? When do we get started?"
