The moment Deryk approached the tent, he realized that something was horribly wrong. For one thing, a moon hunter had come on out completely bloodied. SHe had rainbow socks... wait. Wasn't Julie supposed to wear rainbow socks? If that wasn't enough, the sands began to shift and hundreds of bugs came out. The scent of rotten flesh began to fill the area too.

"No.."

What happened here? Tooley quickly reminded him that now wasn't time to really worry about that. She was pretty quick to point out that there were a lot of bugs to squash right about now in fact. Grimacing, he called her out, nervous, then went to try and stab into the swarm.

Ami grimaced, watching the bugs flurry and buzz like some sort of horrible green snowstorm. It was disgusting, and Ami didn't want any part of it. She began flicking bugs left and right, swatting with Junpei.

Needless to say, trying to hit bugs with a very large stick wasn't very effective. Her movements were slow and awkward, and she only got one or two bugs down. Maybe she should've stuck to defense.

When the tent flap moved, Wilson half-expected it to be Allan or Simon, but instead it was Julie. Eyes widened at the overwhelming amount blood. “Julie, what’s wro—“

The sound of shifting sand cut him off. Insects began to swarm into the tent, converging together. While the bugs themselves weren’t too horrifying, it was the realization that they were inside the sleeping hunters. His jaw dropped, eyes growing even wider at the chunks of flesh and the sudden stench of death that filled his senses.

He couldn’t even move to try and attack the swarm.

Bugs. Harrison couldn't handle it. The smell, the watery rolls of bugs stuffed into the bodies...and he hadn't been paying attention, walked right past them, just like the sofa...

Harrison managed to pocket his scarf and get B0nez's blades up, but he was shaky, and very, very pale.

She almost felt bad for not having picked up more than she had, and yet it seemed like they'd all struggled to some extent to find supplies.

And yet....the exercise had eased her heart some. If trainees were just doing work like this, she could do that. She could handle that. Even if it made her ache just to see Marcus doing his own thing, trying to pretend she wasn't there.

To pretend she wasn't a distraction. As it stood, it was for the better. Still, there was a different kind of unease that settled upon her as they unpacked, as they were told to be good. She could follow orders...

The tent opened again and the person who walked in was - "Julie? Oh my god, Juli-" she was about to ask what had just happened. And then insects. All of the insects. A cacophany of insects. A mess. It smelled horribly, but Cass still had the goggles on and her scarf wrapped around her nose and mouth to block out the most of it she could.

Everybody was dead.

Dead.

Surrounded by death.

She would have looked horrified if anybody could see her face.

The swarm didn't matter. Julie was just... Julie was just standing there. What was wrong? She tried to approach at first without Nicodemus, but the weapon wouldn't have it. He screamed at her to be summoned...it was only with a heavy heart that she relented, drawing her weapon and moving forward with her blade and gun in hand, hissing as the swarm seemed to move around her saying NO

NONONO

DON'T GO NEAR

But she pushed through it as it bit on her FEAR shield, only using Nicodemus when she was close to the Division Assistant...

and smacking her with the flat of Nicodemus's blade.

Aleister had been helping making sure the items were sorted properly when suddenly they noticed Julie and then everything started moving. "OH MY GOD". He was trying to swing around Pookie but he just ended up screaming and running to hide behind someone. Anyone... after the shock wore off he'd be okay. Seriously.

Syd took a step back, even as she summoned her weapon. The sight of Julie--the same Julie that had baked them a massive cake--the same Julie that had been in the girls' sleepover with them--even if she'd dumped them in the sewers--

She couldn't. She couldn't shoot her, and she was so distracted by the idea of one of their own turning out to be a monster that she couldn't even get a hit in on the swarm of bugs.

Through sandblasted glasses, Jerry shifted as he saw movement- rainbows and red? Wait... Julie? The buzzing got his attention and he quickly hauled Roar up to his shoulder. "What... what's going on?" He managed, just as the insects burst forth....

He gave a yelp, hardly able to see in the waning light and the horrid state of his glasses, following the surge of movement. Oh god, oh god, just... just stay calm- his hands were shaking as the bazooka was aimed upward, his eyes clenching shut before he pulled the trigger. Roar barked, ripping through the creatures, splattering them in more bug moosh that the Sun Hunter would rather just ignore.

It looked like his little reunion was about to get cut off. Robert summoned Jezebel before he'd even registered that it was Julie walking into the tent, as if a shudder going down his spine had told him danger was approaching. He moved to stand in front of Saya, but when he noticed Julie, he slacked.

Then the bugs came.

"Jesus Christ, this job sucks." Robert murmured, without realizing just how sadly true that statement was, especially for the colorful girl who stood there covered in blood. He brought Jezebel down on some of the bugs that came forward to bite him, crushing them underneath the point of one of Jazzy's blades and leaving Saya behind.

"Good luck, sweetheart. See you when we're done exterminatin'."

[WE ARE HALLOWEEN]

It was just a nick, the smallest of hits, but Julie swayed precarious for a second longer. From the freshly open cut, a single insect crawled out, scurrying around the whites of her coat before settling with a loud wet squelch back into her open wound on her side.

An open, gaping wound that had stopped bleeding hours ago. Something buzzed angrily, and when Julie finally turned around to confront her attacker, exposing her back-

- It revealed a jacket torn entirely from the back shoulder to the waist, entirely hollow. The skin hung at some points, peeled backwards in loose clumps. There was a faint fleck of white - perhaps a ribcage, perhaps a spine - but-

- The inside of her body was filled with hundreds of insects. They moved and writhed in clumps and clusters, each motion dictating an action, the way her - the body's hand moved, the way the shield flickered, the way -

- She simply stood here, lifeless as the more of the swarms congealed and gathered around her. A puppet.

MINI BOSS FIGHT ROUND 2

SWARM PHASE ONLY

- Julie is a defensive boss. She will simply stand there and let the swam of insects do their job.
- The swarm of insects have regained their HP. They now have 250/250 HP and are ENRAGED. They only do 0.1 damage you hit x amount of HP you took out (rounded to the nearest integer; see below for examples).
- Example: The swarms have 250/250 HP. 0.1 damage x 0 HP you took out = 0 damage
- Example 2: The swarms have 170/250 HP. 0.1 damage x 80 HP you took out = 8 damage you take per hit
- Example 3: The swarms have 88/250 HP. 0.1 damage x 162 HP you took out = 16 damage you take per hit.
-Your trainee cannot attack Julie or even get close to her without being attacked by the swarms swirling around her. You need to take these out first!
- One the swarms have been defeated phase 3 shall begin shortly.
- HP values are still carried over, be careful when attacking. Charged attacks and runic bandages can be used when necessary.

Bix saw Julie and it didn't quite register at first. He thought maybe she was injured, looking for help.

"Julie are you-"

She'sss gone, snowflake!

Bix was frozen for a moment. He didn't even know what to do. The swarm began to come but his vision was blurring. Tears pricked at his eyes and he fought it. His common sense was telling him to fight but his body was seizing up and the tears were coming anyway. He snorted loudly and swiped his hand across his face.

He couldn't shoot her. Even if there was something in her body, he couldn't justify pinning her corpse with arrows. It wasn't right. Bix, already tinged red with sunburn, was the color of a beet. His face was flushed with anger and sadness and a vein bulged on the side of his neck as he screamed, "AHH!"

He fired wildly into the swarm, losing his cool and losing his aim to tears and anger. He couldn't even look at her anymore, with her back gaping and the disgusting swarm, it just wasn't Julie anymore. Bix had lost it for the moment and wasn't thinking clearly. He may not have known her well but the sun hunter had liked her more and spent more time with her than many of the other trainees.

Now stuff was getting too wild, and too many casualties. "What the hell is happening here?"

This was the Sahara, when hunters come to die, apparently in Leon's mind. A chainsaw slice right into the swarm would hopefully let the insects know he wasn't giving up without a fight.

Cass had hit Julie. It had been a tiny hit, but a hit nonetheless. The assistant hunter swayed, a bug crawly out from her gaping wound. Wilson grimaced at the sight. Something was wrong. He should do something, but he couldn’t look away. It was almost like watching train wreck he couldn’t tear his gaze away from. He nearly shuddered when it squelched, and he didn’t know what to say when Julie finally turned around.

Bugs. Everywhere. Her jacket was torn, with bits of skin hanging here and there. He could even see a fleck of white bone beneath the insects and raw flesh. Wilson wanted to gag, but couldn’t. He could only stare with mortification as they continued to gather around Julie. No, it wasn’t Julie. Not anymore. She was dead—the thought made him cringe. She had clearly been off her rocker, but she had always meant well. And now…

Wilson turned around and decided to head for the swarm, dispensing a large stream of gas. He didn't want to think about her anymore.

The swarm had gone, but Deryk soon noticed that Cass had managed to land a hit on Julie. WAIT. WHY WAS SHE--

The death trainee's eyes widened with horror as he saw bugs swarming out of her body from the cut left behind.

"Oh god. Ohgodohgodohgod. Thisisbad. Sobadsoverybad!" he stammered out while taking steps away from her. The swarms had come back and it was now even greater than before. They were all going to die here weren't they? They were going to die here with the rest of the hunters who had been rotting here for who knew how long.

Tooley whispered softly,

Pausing there, Deryk, stood where he was, watching the others attack. Slowly, he tried to gather up his nerve. Right. They were all in this together. They all needed to fight if they wanted to live. That didn't help him all too much, but he was able to pull together enough to strike the swarm at least once. He didn't want to die. He didn't want to be another corpse on the ground..
