If one were to ask, he wouldn't have been able to tell how long he had resided in this place. A month? A year? Two? It didn't matter either because this was the most relaxed he had been in a long while. Now, that wasn't to say that he was completely relaxed, simply more than he had been before. He still needed to watch himself after all, keep his other side locked up. He'd slipped a few times, grown too comfortable in this environment. That was all it took, Marik letting down his guard, for his other self to emerge. Thankfully, none of those incidences had lasted very long and the unfortunate few who happened to be nearby had the good sense to flee.
Oddly enough, Marik found himself at the entrance to the castle's bar. It wasn't a place he frequented. In fact, it was the one location he normally tried to avoid. Inebriation was a surefire way to lose control of himself so the man never drank. There was, however, a part of himself which longed for normalcy, if one could claim such a thing existed. Still, this place he now called home was emptier than it had been when he originally arrived. Some might find that discouraging, to see fewer people wandering around, but he counted it as a blessing. Less people meant fewer interactions and reduced his chances of going off on someone.
Marik lifted his hand and brushed a stray lock of his red-tinted hair out of his eyes. He glanced around the area before entering. Occupied but not packed, he could hang out here for a little while. The man's hands returned to his pockets as he approached the bar. When he sat down he rested his elbows against the counter, his back facing it as well. He wasn't interested in drinking and assumed the barkeep knew as much by now. To those who simply glanced around his presence would not seem out of the ordinary, but to anyone who bothered to pay attention to him his actions might seem odd. Why would a lone person come here if not to drink and relax? Yet here was Marik, leaning against the bar counter and simply observing. Not reaching out to anyone who was already here, not waiting for someone to appear, just...watching. “I’m just what you need, the perfect disease… xxxxxxxxxxxxxDon’t you wanna turn the beauty into the beast?❧ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❧Amber irises followed the new arrival, slowly following the man as he made his way in and sat himself at the bar. Ophelia blinked once, the action slow and influenced by the barest pull of her brows coming together. From what she could tell, he was relatively normal and in a relaxed state - she could see the latter more than anything, given the way he was so casually inclined against the same counter as she was. Perhaps the intention was to meet someone. Surely the bar was a suited place for such a thing, but the longer she stared, the more curious she became. Why choose to sit at the bar, than a table? There was plenty available. Or why come to a bar and not drink - even if it wasn’t alcohol?
The woman’s heels clicked quietly against the floor as she pulled herself away and towards this stranger. The curiosity was too much for her, and even if he was expecting someone, at least she would have had the chance to introduce herself to a face in this house. Coming to a stop at his right, Ophelia turned towards the bar again, lightly drumming the tips of her fingers against the surface.
“This may be a bit presumptuous on my part, but I couldn’t help to notice that you seem a little… out of place, if you will. Are you perhaps a new resident in Trinity Castle as well?”
As she spoke, she flicked her eyes over her shoulder. Her earlier observations still held true, but now standing in his presence, it was hard to ignore the faint energy that was now brushing against her side. It caused her skin to prickle and her nostrils to flare, if only for a moment, her brain attempting to figure out his aura. It seemed that this place would always be unpredictable, as her mind came out short. Those golden eyes narrowed even as a smile slowly blossomed along rosy stained lips; suddenly a game of chase sounded like a wonderful idea.
Humming softly under her breath, she found herself talking once more. “I only say this because I have just arrived, and you are practically the first that I have run in to. My name’s Ophelia - Ophelia Poncha. And what might yours be?” Once finished speaking, she pulled a hand away from the bar and instead placed it in the air between them, hoping that he would take it in greeting.❧ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❧Company: Marik | Location: Den/Bar | Feeling: Curious | Currently Wearing Endorphins start to swell now as I step up to my throne. They couldn't be approaching him, right? It wasn't until she was within a few feet of him that the man realized she was, in fact, moving towards him rather than the entryway. This realization puzzled Marik greatly since he didn't know anyone who was here except for, perhaps, in passing and that granted little to no interactions. As such, what reason did he have to believe anyone would walk up to him? Let alone some female he had never laid eyes upon before. Yet here she was, standing right beside him.
Crimson eyes shifted to face the woman while he listened to the sound of her fingertips against the counter. It would be obvious from the look on his face how perplexed the male was by her approach. Even so, he offered a kind smile in greeting. It was best not to underestimate his company or take a chance of offending someone. He absolutely abhorred dealing with such situations. He seemed...out of place? The man wasn't quite sure how to respond to that comment since he had probably been here longer than a fair amount of the people. A soft chuckle rumbled out of his throat as the man shook his head. "I have actually been here for quite some time, miss. But I suppose some of us just weren't meant to fit in with the rest, I have a tendency to keep to myself."
The man allowed his gaze to roam over her entire person, discreetly of course. Although he was getting a better visual of her physical attributes, the male was assessing her as well. She appeared rather harmless at the moment, but one could never tell for certain. Things changed, and appearances could be oh so deceiving. His smile softened when the amber-eyed woman explained that she had just arrived. It wasn't all that surprising that he was the first person she had run into, though it did help him gauge her arrival time. There were certain people whom he knew still wandered the halls on a regular basis and if she had been out and about for a few hours this woman, Ophelia, would have had to run into at least one of them.
His hand reached out to grip hers, gentle yet firm as he completed the greeting. "It is a pleasure to meet you Ophelia. My name is Marik, Marik Turner. I must admit, it's nice to see some a new face around." He may not be one for prolonged interactions, but try as he might to resist Marik did actually enjoy being around other people. It was the consequences that the prolonged exposure could cause which worried him. For the moment, his other self seemed relatively quiet so what harm was there in speaking with this stranger?"Have you had a chance to explore the grounds at all Ophelia?" A tour, that wouldn't be too much. While his other side slept he could enjoy himself, even if only for a moment. “I’m just what you need, the perfect disease… xxxxxxxxxxxxxDon’t you wanna turn the beauty into the beast?❧ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❧Meeting his eyes, she found herself blinking at the unusual color. Then again, she possessed eyes of “unusual color” herself, so she shouldn’t have been shocked in the slightest. They almost appeared out of place - a theme that she found herself placing upon him. Such violent tinted irises paired with a smiling face… It seemed to contradict one another, but the woman was not the best observer of people, much to her own distaste. Her sense of smell could lead her in what someone was, but who? No, it would take more than just her nose to figure that one out.
Though the notion might seem a bit outdated for this day and age, Ophelia had always been a strong believer of getting a good sense from someone due to their eyes. It was usually the first thing she took notice of, and the longest she spent observing. Which way they flickered, their color, their intensity, how open they were held on a normal basis… Everything. Her own were typically lit with humor or mischief - it was hard to tell sometimes, but nonetheless, it was a good reflection of her person. Deep within the harmless curiosity laid two small pupils, that held more of a feline appearance than human. Even her own secret was laid out in the open for notice - granted someone actually try, and though she might try to hide it, there was nothing she could do to change their shape. The woman was the perfect example of her own theory.
Snapping out of the thought, the corners of her lips lifted once again in a smile, this time allowing hints of ivory teeth to be seen. “It seems I’ve struck gold, Marik Turner,” she mused, sliding her hand out of his own and allowing it to fall to her side. “It’s not every day I meet a man with sincere manners and knows how to give a woman a proper handshake. Don’t take what I said as a bad thing, it was a simple observation of mine and I am not always right after all. I’m sure you fit in just fine here.”
If anything, she was most likely the one that did not fit in currently. With no connections, save for the little one forming before her, the woman was in a form of isolation. It was not as frightening as she might make it to be, though. Making acquaintances or even friends had never really been an issue. It was normally her stubbornness and curiosity that landed her trouble. It did, remember, kill the cat after all. It was probably safe to assume that she appeared quite bold compared to a man that described himself as “keeping to himself.” It was also safe to assume that because of that, she would unconsciously push some of his boundaries and buttons but maybe he would let some of it slide. Maybe.
“I have not had a chance to explore much, actually. I just got my things unpacked not too long ago, and this,” she paused, lifting her arms to refer to the bar around her, “was my first unintentional stop. It seems it was a well one at that, considering I managed to run into you. Perhaps you could be a knight in shining armor and show this damsel around?” A corner of her mouth twitched at the implication, broadening her smile more and twisting it into a smirk. Shifting her weight between her feet, Ophelia took a step closer as she reached out once again, this time sliding an arm under and over one of his own. Daring, yes - but she simply couldn’t resist. “What do you say, Marik?”❧ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❧Company: Marik | Location: Den/Bar | Feeling: Curious | Currently Wearing Endorphins start to swell now as I step up to my throne.
