The goblin remains and the princess will die,
the right road to Faerie, is the blink of an eye...

User Image
After fleeing the school, Angela made her way into the city where she stopped by the first drug store and bought gauze, peroxide and the strongest over the counter pain medication they had. Then she took her purchases to the park and found an empty picnic table where she could sit and roll up her sleeves to clean herself up a little better. When she doused the first hand in peroxide, she let out a string of rather creative swears that sent several nearby mothers scurrying for their strollers. Angela waited for the stinging to go down before she dared pour the liquid on her other hand--though she was also a little more careful to do it slowly.

It bubbled up, fizzing loudly and stinging like mad but she managed not to curse out loud this time, just hiss like a deranged snake...

After a few minutes, she used some of the gauze to pat her hands dry, before slowly wrapping them in the bandages, covering the knuckles and weaving the gauze between her fingers to make sure they were all neatly wrapped up. It didn't stop the fact that her hands and arms were aching, ribbons of pain shooting up into her shoulders every time she dared to actually move her hands. But, she supposed, it did keep the fact her knuckles looked like raw meat, hidden. She wondered if she'd actually done some serious damage to the bones. She could still move her fingers so they probably weren't broken. Maybe fractured?

Eurgh. She just hoped they healed okay. Being an immortal with arthritic hands would definitely suck.

Malade's breathing took a turn for the worse this morning, but he didn't want to go to a doctor or anything, nor did he want to be stupid and try to self-medicate. So, he decided one thing that could help was some fresh air, and the park was obviously his first choice.

He kept his arms crossed over his chest and was bundled up in warm clothes to keep his thin frame from freezing as he walked around the park. It was nice to get some fresh air and peace and quiet. Much better than the rowdiness back at his home or in the school. He was already winded when he noticed a few mothers strolling their children away from something or someone in a bit of a rush. What in the world was that about?

He noticed someone familiar sitting on a park bench, looking a bit... pained? Ah, her name was... Angela! That was it. From the mountain trip. With the a*****e boyfriend professor guy. Well, his chest was heaving and he couldn't walk another step without passing out, so may as well say hello. Without a word, he sat down on the bench next to her and coughed into his hand a little, catching his breath. He eventually managed to ask, "Hey. Are you okay?" He looked over her briefly and managed to keep any thoughts of her lack of boobs to himself, for Angela's sake, wondering why she looked like she was in pain from the distance, noticing the bandages on her hands.

'Oh. That looks... bad.'

"Fine," Angela said, shoving the remainder of her supplies into the plastic bag from the store. She had seen Malade coming her way and quickly finished wrapping her hands and wrists, finishing up just as he got there and sat down. She gave him a sidelong look. "It's not as bad as it looks. I just...got a bit carried away taking out some frustration on various inanimate objects."

Oh. Huh. The last time she and Malade had really spoken, had also been when she was fighting with Abel. She wondered if that was just a coincidence, or if there was something else going on there. Then again, last time he had hit Abel in the head with a snowboard. Several times. "Pfft. Should have hit him harder," she muttered mostly to herself.

"Anyway, are you alright? You don't look so great," she said, realizing that, well, he really didn't. "Want me to get you something to drink? There's a vending machine over there with water and things..."

Malade wanted to check and see how bad it really was, having a feeling that she was blowing it off as nothing, but he wasn't sure he had the stomach to see it. Or the guts to ask. Though, he was curious about the whole 'taking out frustration' thing. He took out his frustration on inanimate and animate objects in the past, but never did he bruise up his hands that badly. "Yeah, definitely carried away," He nodded, deciding it was best not to pry into her business. The curiosity about the cause of her rage bothered him, but he would respect her privacy. For now.

His eyebrows furrowed when she muttered something under her breath, not quite catching it. Something about hitting something. Did she think he was hitting on her? Well, he could but... Eh. He doubted she was in the mood after punching her fists off, apparently.

"Hey, don't throw the subject onto me. I'm fine and this is normal. But you're obviously hurt. I can't stand to see an enchanting woman, such as yourself, in pain. I'm no doctor, but maybe I can help, somehow?" Okay, he was definitely being a hypocrite today. He was prying and hitting on her. Two things he wanted to avoid doing, but who knows, maybe it could make her feel better.

"This is normal for me," Angela countered. "Pretty much." She gave him a pained look and rolled her eyes. "Please. Even my boyfriend doesn't think I'm 'enchanting." She paused. "Ah...well, ex-boyfriend I guess. I think we broke up." Well, all things considered, she was pretty sure that was a given, actually.

"Anyway, I wasn't trying to change the subject," she told him. "You just look rather pale...er than usual. In any case, I haven't seen you since the Winter trip--how have you been? I never had a chance to thank you for trying to cheer me up back then." She should have just taken his and Renivere's advice to stay away from Abel. Though, to be fair, she didn't know he was a lying b*****d who was trying to undermine everything the school stood for at the time.

She just thought he was a shallow, boob obsessed jerk. Though, he was that too, wasn't he? Ugh. She groaned softly and rubbed her forehead. "Why do I have such bloody awful taste in men?"

"Well, if he's your ex, then he was obviously wrong, now wasn't he?" Malade retorted, ignoring the comment about this being normal for her. Because, really, how many people could say that it's normal for them to punch their fists raw? That was just... unhealthy. Mentally and physically.

He sighed when she mentioned how pale he looked, unconsciously tightening his arms around himself to try to warm up, as if that would make a difference. "It's just because... I'm tired after walking around the park so much," He made his lame excuse. The truth was, he hardly walked any of it at all and he was still having trouble breathing, even now that he was sitting down. "And I've been fine. There's no need to thank me. I'm always available to cheer people up... or beat them to a bloody pulp. Either way."

He frowned at Angela when she groaned about her taste in men, having no clue how to respond to that. All he could think of were cheesy pick-up lines, and that definitely wouldn't help the situation, especially since she seemed like the violent type. So, instead, he lightly rubbed her back and reassured her, "You'll find someone tolerable eventually. There's always a diamond in the rough."

"Or it could just mean he was right," Angela said. "Though I think that, technically, I broke up with him. I think punching your boyfriend counts as breaking up with him probably? I don't know. I'm a bit new to all this relationship stuff."

She glanced at him again. Yeah...that was believable. or maybe he thought the fact that he seemed to be having a hard time breathing wasn't noticeable? "Incidentally, you're a bloody awful liar, Malade. Your breathing sounds a bit..." she cut off, sucking in her breath and going red when Malade started rubbing her back. She started to glow softly, which made her face just turn redder. "Ah...ah....Malade...um....c-can you stop that?"

Though, really, maybe she should just let him keep doing that since it felt nice and distracted her, somewhat, from the fact that her arms were feeling like they'd be better off amputated than attached to her body. Gah! No. Definitely stopping was important because it probably wasn't a good idea to pounce Malade when feeling the sort of emotional turmoil she was feeling at the moment. Especially not when they were in public...

Wait, didn't she break up with him before? Malade sighed, figuring that this must have been their second breakup then. He wondered why anyone would make the same mistake twice, but maybe she had a good reason. He wasn't sure, so he couldn't judge. Well, he could, but he wasn't going to. "Yes, punching definitely counts. And I would say it's the best way to break up," For the people watching it happen, at least.

He happened to be looking at the scenery around them as she was saying something about him being a liar or something. He didn't ignore people too often, but he did this time because, well, he liked to ignore his breathing issues as much as possible. He was in denial, not wanting to resemble his father in any way, especially when it came to his horrible health. But, because he was looking away, he didn't notice the glowing, nor did he really pay attention to her request, still rubbing her back in a comforting fashion.

"Hm? What?" He finally glanced back at her when he realized that whatever she said last was in a bit of a... different tone than when she called him a liar. She was glowing? He tried to recall if he saw her glow like that before, but nothing came to mind. That was weird. "Sorry, I was distracted by the snow," He apologized for ignoring her, though that was only half true. He was ignoring her on purpose, after all. "Um... is that glowing thing normal as well?" He asked, and he wouldn't be surprised if it was with how normal punching her knuckles to dust was considered by her.

"Hnnng," Angela groaned, leaning over slightly as Malade just...just....kept rubbing that same place. Her brain was starting to go a bit muzzy and she was feeling quite significantly warmer than she had been just a few minutes ago. That felt...really nice. Definitely no where near as annoying as when a certain idiotic blonde did it. After all, she actually liked Malade. He was nice, and attractive and...mmm. Pleasant tingles crawled their way through her back and shoulders, and settled in the pit of her stomach, continuing to warm her from the inside out and make her brain not want to function properly.

"Malade..." She wanted to tell him to stop, but couldn't quite manage to properly formulate the words. Very soon, she was leaning against him with her head on his shoulder, eyes closed. She raised her head slightly, nuzzling against his neck without really realizing what she was doing. At some point, it finally dawned on her that he'd been talking to her. "Hmm...?"

Wait. Angela suddenly snapped back to reality, realizing what she was doing and who with and..."Gaaaaaaaaah!" She scrambled away from him, face flaming. "Ah...I....I'm sorry!" she said. "Sorry! I just...I..." Oh God. What on earth was she thinking!?

"I'll go...get some water. For you. Um...yes." She jumped to her feet and practically ran to the vending machines a short way off, as embarrassed by the fact she was glowing as she was by what she'd just done. Stupid, stupid! Not just her, but Malade as well. And Abel! Because, well, he had nothing to do with this actually but she was still going to blame him. If he hadn't made her break up with him, she wouldn't be vulnerable, or whatever the hell it was that was wrong with her. So it was definitely his fault too. Maybe she should hit him some more.

And stupid back! She was going to start wearing armor or something. Ugh. she was usually more careful than that. Just. Ugh. Bloody hell. She was being more idiotic than usual lately.

"..." Malade stared at Angela and cocked an eyebrow when she groaned, clearly confused by her strange behavior. What was she again...? Sani said she was a fairy or something, right? He didn't know anything about those, so maybe it was just a normal thing for them to act like this. And the glowing too, because that was really weird.

It wasn't until he felt her lean against him that he recalled Sani trying to rub her back in the hallway. Oooh, so that was it! ... Well, that didn't mean he was going to stop. He was just going to play dumb because, well, she seemed to be enjoying it and it was very amusing. He tilted his head to the side when he felt her nuzzling against his neck, surprised but certainly not objecting to the affection. It was a little difficult to focus on keeping his pleased thoughts in his head with that distraction, but somehow, he managed. He couldn't stay silent though, or else she may suspect that he actually knew what he was doing now, "Um... What are you...?"

He jumped a little when Angela suddenly scrambled away, unable to keep the grin off his face. Watching her get all flustered and embarrassed was absolutely hilarious, and adorable as well. "No, no, it's fine. I thought it was kind of cute," He tried to tell her, but she was already making some excuse to run off and probably go compose herself. Well, even if that entertaining little show of affection was over, he was getting free water and he had plenty of tease-material now.

He shivered at a small breeze, just now realizing how warm she had been. Jeez, was she really that embarrassed about the whole thing? He couldn't help but laugh at that thought, hoping she wouldn't spot him laughing at her shame. Well, he kind of missed the warmth and hoped she would hurry back, even if she probably wouldn't want to get too close now.

By the time Angela had beat her head on the vending machine a few times, then purchased a bottle of water for Malade, then beat her head a few more times, she was glowing less and felt somewhat less...muzzy. Somewhat. Damn Malade! She took a long, steady breath, exhaling very slowly before she finally returned to Malade and found she really couldn't look at him.

"Ah...here." She thrust the bottle of water at him awkwardly. "I'm sorry. I likely should have warned you about that but it's sort of one of those things that's a little awkward to bring up. I can hardly tell people not to touch my back because it's...very sensitive...and might cause me to jump them." She gave him a weak smile. "Um, thanks for trying to cheer me up though." He'd definitely done a great job distracting her, that was for sure. Though now she just felt guilty. Even if she and Abel weren't together anymore she still felt like she was betraying that idiot.

She sat a safe distance from Malade and pulled her legs up onto the bench, wrapping her arms around them as she leaned back against the table. "Um, so you never mentioned what you were doing out here in the first place. Just going for a walk?"

Malade was busy curling up on the park bench to keep warm when he thought he heard a noise a short distance away. He glanced over only to see Angela banging her head on the vending machine. He snorted and looked away to keep himself from laughing, feeling positively evil for getting her so flustered.

He turned back to her when he heard her come back, taking the water bottle with a small, 'thank you', though he really didn't need it. He noticed that she wasn't really looking at him, but he didn't point it out because she was already in the middle of explaining her odd behavior. Of course, he already sort of knew that, but he had to keep playing dumb, so he simply nodded in response. He smiled back at her when she thanked him for cheering her up, glad he got the chance to take advantage of that weakness of hers, "No problem. It's always my goal to make people smile." Not true, but he couldn't exactly tell her that he just liked messing with peoples' minds.

"Oh, yes. I was just out for a walk to get some... fresh air. I couldn't really breathe this morning, so I thought it would help," He reluctantly admitted before thinking of some way to change the subject. "Err... the weather is nice, isn't it?" Well. That subject change failed.

"If you really want to make me smile, then feel free to hit Abel in the face with a snowboard again," Angela said dryly. She gave Malade a sidelong look. "Don't, really. First of all, I'd prefer you not to be arrested. And even if he's a lying jerk, I'd rather him not get hurt. Severely."

She listened to him a moment, frowning a bit. Couldn't breathe? He must have some sort of illness then? Or so she assumed. Wow...poor guy. "Are you sure you're alright? If you want, I can get us a cab back to the school instead of you having to walk? I don't mind paying for it. The cold can't be helping..."

She hesitated before wriggling closer just because, well, breathing problems and being cold didn't seem like they went well together. So she could at least try to keep him warm? It was definitely not because she had any ulterior motives at all, in any way. At all.

...

Maybe a little.

But mostly it was to help him stay warm so as to be able to breathe better and not keel over or something.

Malade grinned when Angela offered to let him hit her ex over the head with a snowboard again, even when she took it back. "I can always handle some more jail time. And if you really care that much, then I can refrain from causing any permanent damage. I'll just hurt him... a little," He reassured her with a mischievous snicker, sure that he wouldn't be able to hold back enough to keep that promise. Anyone so disrespectful to such a nice young lady deserves nothing less than the most severe of punishments.

"No, no, I'm fine. I need the exercise," He told her with a long sigh, definitely regretting mentioning his breathing problems. It wasn't often he got any exercise or went outside because of the possibility that he could pass out, so he wasn't going to take a risk and quit halfway through.

He smiled slightly when she moved a little closer, assuming that she wanted to help keep him warm. That was sweet of her... and he definitely was going to ruin the mood. He hooked an arm around her shoulders, not caring if she would object or not, and pulled her closer. "Hey, if you really want to help me stay warm, you can always sit right here," He said as he pat his lap.

"More jail time?" Angela asked, raising an eyebrow as Malade put his arm around her and pulled her closer. She rolled her eyes slightly. "I'm guessing there's an interesting story in there? But to be honest, I would much prefer you not go to jail for my sake because then, instead of satisfaction, I'd just feel guilty. And, probably, I'd be implicated along with you so my father would end up dragging me along back to the Seelie Court...and...ugh. Not worth the trouble."

She looked up at him, amused at his flirting. Her smile faded slightly when she thought of Abel, but she shoved those thoughts away and, in a show of defiance to Abel and Malade, she lifted herself onto his lap and draped her arms over his shoulders, smirking at him. Hey. Their faces were actually at the same level now--she didn't have to crane her neck to look up at him. Bonus!

"Didn't think I'd do it?" she teased.
