@Aila and Dancing People

Even as Izaya and Natalia passed them, Asch didn't look at Izaya. His expression too was a bit distant. Although whether it was because he was purposely ignoring them, hadn't noticed, or otherwise, wasn't plain. Either way, he paid Izaya no mind, but knew where he and Natalia were. Keeping watch out of the corner of his eye without making direct eye contact.

However, he had noticed Aila's silence and looked at her briefly as he continued to lead her in a slow dance across the floor. "Etes-vous d'accord?" he asked with little emotion in his voice. He himself was a bit distracted with his own thoughts, but there was still a bit of concern over his partner's welfare.

@Sheena, dance floor

Luke similarly failed to notice the bow as out of place; in fact, it was closer to what he was used to than a handshake. "Yeah, same," he replied, his nearly instinctive nonchalance sticking in his tone. He glanced down at the Eevee as it was introduced, staring perhaps a moment longer than he would have as some unobtainable memory stirred in its slumber. "Reminds me of one of mine," he said idly, referencing his Flareon.

Dancing, huh? Rosie had said something about it being more fun in a group, but Luke wasn't seeing any movements he recognized. "...I guess," he said, noticeably unenthusiastic - or perhaps simply nervous. "Don't really know anything that's not supposed to be done with a partner." 'In a group' didn't specifically implicate 'in pairs,' and what the greater majority of the other guests were doing didn't look like any kind of waltz he had learned.

_________

@Asch

The sudden question fractured the great web of thoughts Aila was caught in, and she shook her head briefly, "Oui. Désolé, mon esprit est ailleurs." That was rude of her. In dance, one's attention was supposed to fall with one's partner. A faint embarrassment made itself evident in her features. Fortunate though she was that her body was familiar with the correct movements, physical memory could do little to cover up for an absence of enthusiasm. But then Asch didn't seem all that enthusiastic either; she suspected they were both involved in their own thoughts at the moment.

Mairu answered the Umbreon cheekily. She tried to prance ahead, but the older dark-type had longer strides and she kept falling behind.

(Shizuo's a trainer)
...Kasuka (Kasuka's trainer).> Kururi explained meekly. (what's wrong)...?> the older twin asked as she trailed after Umbreon. She hoped they wouldn't be asked to harm one of their favorite humans. Not only that, but it would dramatically lower their chances of meeting Kasuka.

Mairu told her urgently.

The informant rolled his eyes and turned back to his dance partner as both Aila and Asch seemed to be off in their own, individual mental worlds. At least that was a little more characteristic of them, dancing on auto-pilot, even if the 'dancing' part was still hard to swallow.

Though he still had yet to learn what the red-head's connection was with his look-alike, Asch really was a lot like Luke fon Fabre, and not just by appearances. Despite hardly knowing him, both of them had been equally rude and snobbish towards Izaya. That couldn't have been a Grande Isle trait, seeing as Natalia and Aila were exactly the opposite. Maybe it was just the hormonal teenage males from that place.

@Aila

"Hm," was Asch's reply to Aila's confession. He was silent for a few moments, as they continued to dance. It was odd really, being this close to a girl. Over the past several years, he had purposely refrained from getting close to anyone of the opposite gender. However, having a female partner seemed to have changed things.

As some distance was put between them and Izaya, Asch chanced a glance at Natalia for just a moment before looking back to Aila with a sigh. "La mienne aussi." It seemed that they both weren't in their usual states of mind this evening. Granted, this wasn't exactly a typical evening to begin with.

(Trainer group/dance floor)

Sera gratefully accepted the cup from Bro - not that she thanked him or anything frivolous like that - and took a sip from it. Hmm - wine. Not the best thing to spike punch with, but better than nothing. With a small shrug she downed it very quickly, then tossed the cup at the nearest trash bin. It bounced off the rim and landed with a light clatter that was inaudible compared to the music. Seraphine didn't seem to notice that it landed on the floor, as she continued to dance near the group of trainers, easily matching her moves with the beat and rhythm of the music. Hmm... either cute boys would come to her, or she'd need to go find some. Either way, she kept a look-out for any potential partners for the evening. There had to be at least a few.

(Izaya, Asch, Alia)

Natalia hummed noncommittally but nodded. While curious as to who the man knew, she didn't pry since it seemed he didn't want to divulge. Not that she blamed him of course for that even as she latched on to the hopefully distracting conversions with him. "So you are a human behavior researcher? Whether by trade or hobby at least." The noble had met a few others that has had that job or hobby so it wouldn't be very strange if the faux hero was one.

"You are correct, I have quite honestly only been in the region for about a month, not a true amount of time to pick up on everything." That brought a slight chuckle from her as she thought back to a few minor incidents within the first week she was in Kodo. She moved her free hand to his shoulder as she danced while they talked. "And thank you. So far it has been...an experience in the least." Natalia noticed that the way he added the title to her name, you would barely be able to tell that he hadn't been raised in nobility. "Please, just call me Natalia, Sir Nakura. And it is a pleasure on my end as well." she gave another sad bordered smile. "Thank you for the offer."

When the woman from earlier passed by then started to dance with some one, Natalia blinked. Why did the woman's partner seem familiar? Something about his/her face...? She politely turned her eyes back onto her dancing partner. Though when she did that she found him looking at the couple as well. "Do you know them?" She asked and glanced over at the princess again. The outfit and the sense of familiarity sent a pang of sadness through her.

(Presea)

After the girl was standing, Shizuo glanced around for any sight of trouble before looking back at her. "No I am fine thanks." He said with a slight shrug then took a mouthful of his, by now noticing the alcohol, drink. "Shizuo. And don't worry about it." The blond shook her hand as he gave his name in return.

(Frost, punch group)

Xander watched the group around him as it got slightly bigger and a bit more lively. It brought a smile to his face since it was clear that they were having fun for the post part. Only real problem was though, how to get Frost to enjoy his self...

(Punch Club, Isadora, Aulus, Frost, Faleen, Sierra)

"No worries," Hayes grinned at Isadora as the situation seemed to defuse. "Guess some people are really getting into character." He wasn't - just because he was dressed as one of moviedom's great icons of manliness didn't mean he needed to act the part. Aulus was taking care of the testosterone levels for both of them, as well as the off-color thinking. "I guess someone'll clean it up.." Where was that girl with the Golbat who'd seemed to know Aulus? Maybe she'd gone off to let one of the party staff know what happened.

"Ooh, he's foreign. And cute." "Dani-" It was a good-natured groan from Hayes, and went completely ignored. The girl flashed a bright grin at said scarred Rocket, eyes sparking with interest. "Hi." She slipped off Hayes' shoulders. "I'm Dani."

"Sort of," Hayes told Frost distractedly; he was keeping an eye on the brunette girl as she continued: "Thanks for getting my brother out of the house; he must really like you or something." The way she moved past Claire to approach Aulus suggested such traits might run in the family.

Yup, there she goes.

A fedora was unceremoniously plunked over her eyes. "Hey, squirt." Hayes grinned knowingly at his sister as she turned back and pulled the hat off her goggles. "What happened to my friends being off limits?" "That was when most of your friends were in the chess club, Alex." Dani tipped the fedora at a rakish angle on her head and turned a pretty smile on Aulus. "You don't look like you're in the chess club."

If the scarred Rocket happened to catch his partner's eye at that moment, he'd get a shrug. If it was the moment after, Hayes' attention would be on the girl talking with Claire. Sure he'd been distracted, but.. how long had Faleen been standing there? "Hey." This was what you said to people you knew and recognized, and perhaps it was the effect of being taken off-guard by her sudden appearance that stalled the blond's next words. "Nice costume."

[Punch people, Hayes, Faleen, anyone] -

Isadora returned Hayes's smile in kind after taking another sip of her new soda. "Yes, I suppose so." Of course, considering her costume, Isadora wasn't exactly comfortable with the idea of her getting 'into character.' That was just... Anyway.

Isadora watched idly as the brunette girls slipped off of Hayes's shoulders to speak to some man with a scar on his face, but her attention was more directed towards the appearance of Faleen right next to Hayes and the man's reaction to her. How interesting. Perhaps they knew each other from somewhere? It was always possible that the blond man was a Rocket, just like Isadora. After all, she didn't exactly know too many people in the organization. After giving Faleen a small smile, Isadora decided to leave the two alone and try to find something to eat or someone to talk to. Seemed like everyone was pairing or grouping up together, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It just made it more difficult to actually socialize. Alas.

(Kratos)

Naomi stood there for a bit longer, fiddling with the hem of the skirt once again, a little unsure of what to do now. She took in a breath, gathering up the nerve to venture out into the crowd. Well, perhaps she could get some punch first. Yeah, that would be her plan. First punch, then mingle. That was a common thing to do she believed, not really being to a party as large or lavish as this before. Her eyes scanned around, looking for the punch table among the mass of people. If the blue haired trainer knew that there were Rockets among the crowd, she would have left instantly. So, for now, she remained blissfully unaware.

After finally locating where she could acquire some punch, she was about to make her way toward it when something caught her attention. Turning her attention toward a motion in the corner of her green eyes, she immediately noticed the bouncing pink Pikachu from within the hat of a magician boy. Though pink wasn't exactly her color, she still couldn't help smile at the enthusiastic mouse Pokemon as it and its trainer approached her. She watched as the trainer calmed his Pokemon and giggled, turning to face him fully as he stopped in front of her. During the time the trainer approached, the Poke Ball that contained her Aggron had wiggled, eager to meet the small Pokemon. That was where she placed her hand on it gently, thinking, Sorry Aggro, you wouldn't want to come out now... to many people around.

"Hello!" The pirate exclaimed sweetly, shaking her head softly. "No interruption at all, I love seeing energetic Pokemon." She added looking to the Pikachu, then back to the male in front of her. "So far, though it's still a bit early to tell. How about you?"

(Izumi)

The longer they danced, the more obvious the grin on the gangsters face became. He turned with her, leading her into the twirls she took, and otherwise just kinda... shutting everything out for a bit, and letting himself enjoy this.

Even as the music faded, and drifted off into the next song, a much slower song. Watching Izumi claim that she wanted a drink and hurry off to get one.
That little smile still on his face, Jerome reached up to tug the hood over his costume, making sure it wasn't falling off, before stuffing his hands back into the pockets, striding casually over to the edge of the dance floor.

(Luke, Sheena, Sera, Charlotte,)

Rosie, who was still dancing smiled as introductions were made, dipping into a curtsey mid step in dance. "It is a pleasure to meet you~ Sheena~"
She was genuinely happy to be meeting people, and was more then encouraging to have them join the dancing, even is some of them didn't know how to dance it seemed.
The pink pirate was quick to help with this.
"No worries, come on, let me show you."
She hurried forward, taking one of Sheena's hands, and one of Luke's hands.
"Just feel the music right? it doesn't matter what you do, just let your body speak."
Still, she started with a basic fun dance, nothing special, but an easy move that most people were doing around. "and just keep moving"
She lifted the two other people's hands that she was holding onto, dancing with both of them.

She smiled at Charlotte who was next to her now, "Lets see what you've got~"

(Punch Team)

Faleen's eyes seemed to smile gently at Claire's reply, and when the wings were brought up, a soft hum rose from under the women's mask, a hand reaching out to touch one of the pones on the wings, noticing the dying glow.
She could probably fix that, but she would assume Claire wasn't to worried about it.
.... Even if it was bothering Faleen.

Her eyes shifted away from the wings however, and over to the girl that had been very familiar with Hayes. She seemed to be taken with Aulus, or at least trying to be.
Her eyebrows arched, before she heard Hayes' familiar voice speak again, and she glanced over to see him looking over at her.
Lifting the cane from the ground, and tapping it twice on her goggled in a gesture of thanks.
"Your is quite creative as well."
Explorer theme it seemed. It looked classy, but still rugged.

(Purrloin twins)

Umbreon didn't react to their protests about "not fare" the dark type was known to rarely give a crap unless it was an order Faleen gave.
Still, they answered his question, and it only encouraged a deeper frown from the Umbreon.

He glanced around as they walked, red eyes scanning quickly around the room to make sure things were clear as he lead the Purrlion through a careful rout to draw less attention.
He told them glancing over at them.
With that, he then answered their own question.

It was never a good idea for a Rocket to let their unique pokemon out in public for casual events for people to see, in case they were recognized when it was most inconvenient.
Not to say this didn't happen, it was just not recommenced.
This was the biggest reason Umbreon was glad he bore the standard markings and coloration of his breed, to everyone else, he was just another Umbreon.

Long ears slicked back over his skull, large red eyes turned toward the two other dark types, hunkering low under one of the tables and nodding his head for them to follow, tail lifting up as he watched the humans beyond.

@ Shizuo

She was standing, and he was still too tall. Why did everyone have to be huge? Presea was glad though that she hadn't hurt or offended him in any way. She held his hand a moment longer before it got to feeling awkward. She wanted to whip out her note pad and drill him about the event. Interview him, find out what he liked about this event, this holiday. Anything.

But after her previous failed attempts, she had told herself she wasn't going to do so. It seemed no one had fun when she was questioning them about the dance. There was a pang of self doubt then. It's not like anyone would read her article. She had always been told she wasn't invested enough in her stories. They all sounded ... Mechanical. Maybe her costume was more fitting then she first thought. Ok, so she wasn't going to interview him. But then again, one question wouldn't hurt, right? It was a dance after all.

"... Wouldyouliketodance?" She half blurted awkwardly. Though she was prepared for the inevitable rejection. She looked like a kid, and she knew it. That wasn't most people's cup of tea.

(Mau, Jerome)

Yes, the punch was indeed spiked. Dith watched Sera and Izumi down their cups with an internal sigh and made a mental note to keep a close eye on them. Maybe he ought to tell Sera at least not to drink any more of it, but knowing her that would just make her want to slink off and find something even more potent. Finishing his own drink Dith bent down to retrieve the cups that had been dropped onto the floor and put them in the bin. Straightening up he saw Izumi dancing with Jerome, or at least she was dancing and he was mainly standing still. He seemed to be keeping his hands to himself; good boy.

“Likewise,” Dith smiled to Mau and clasped his hand, “and I suppose I am, sort of. I came for the party but one cannot help but keep an eye on one’s young friends. Oh, da, you can call me Dith; most people around here do.”

When the track ended Izumi headed off towards the drinks table, which was really far too good an opportunity to miss. “Excuse me,” Dith muttered to Mau, “on the subject of chaperoning I need to have a private talk with that young wolf there.”

Stepping forward he lent down so that he could murmur; “A word in your ear, young man,” to Jerome. The tattooed man must be aware of the kind of image he gave off, and must have done it all intentionally and.... Those scars were from gunshot. They were fairly recent. Plenty of perfectly innocent people got shot in situations that were not their fault, but given the rest of his image Dith didn’t think Jerome was such a person. No. He knew this type.

They were always ‘standing on the corner minding their own business’ when ‘some dude’ just came by and shot them and ran off. For spice some of them had even just been to see their sick grandma. They were the kind of people that made you grind your teeth but you patched them up anyway because that was just what you did, and whether it was their fault or not they were people who needed your help. Jerome, however, was not currently bleeding everywhere which meant that he didn’t have to just nod at him and get on with his job. If this little man thought he was going to do anything that could harm Izumi he had another thing coming.

“What exactly are your intentions with Izumi?” the bear asked in a low voice – intended for Jerome’s ears only – that was almost a growl.

The pounding music settled down a little, it still wasn’t a nice atmosphere but Frost relished the momentary respite from the pulsing wall of sound. Just as he might have begun to relax a little however the pink Golbat swooped at him with its mouth full of food. Frost jumped about a foot backwards – miraculously not bumping into anyone – and brandished his staff at the monstrosity. “Miss Tambrey, please control your pokemon!” Frost called, a distinct note of displeasure ringing in his usually calm voice as he eyed the bat coldly. Yuck, yuck, yuck! The cakes were mashed and chewed and covered in spittle and ugh! Why had he come here? This was worse than the music and Izaya combined, not as bad as the whole situation combined (the whole situation minus the bat and the mushy cake itself of course) but definitely worse than those two variables. It hadn’t even touched him and his skin was crawling. Disgusting....

Oh, somebody had said hello, it would be remiss to ignore her. “Good evening,” Frost said to Sierra, glancing at her briefly before turning his attention back to the Golbat. “It does indeed seem to be a... varied event.” He didn’t like any of it. In his opinion this whole thing should have been a civilized dinner, yes, that would have been quite acceptable so long as he didn’t have to sit anywhere near Izaya or this blasted Golbat.

*****

(Punch crowd)

“Umm... Yea, they’re nice," Aulus nodded at Claire. "This place certainly thought it all out, the costumes, though there wasn’t much choice for dinosaurs that wasn’t ridiculous which is why we’re palaeontologists. The guy taking the tickets seemed to approve though, you know once I... explained the costumes.” Explained as in flexed, but oh well, everyone had their ways of getting what they wanted, his just usually happened to involve biceps and exactly what was wrong with that? No worse than a girl using her cleavage...

Speaking of cleavage. Aulus turned back to the girl in the leather corset who was draped all over Hayes. “Dani then,” he nodded, smiling slightly, “and I guess he tolerates me well enough, he’s got to keep on my good side if he wants a co-op buddy anyway....” Humm, friends off limits? Did that mean that sisters were off limits to friends? It was more a reflexive thought than a serious consideration, after all Claire was still right there looking stupendous – and more importantly being Claire – but that didn’t mean he couldn’t chat to the girl. Humm, he might even dance with her if Hayes didn’t mind actually; what better way to hide interest in Claire than to pay attention to somebody else? Genius.

“Anyway,” Aulus went on, now grinning slightly at Dani, “you’re right there, I’m more of a karate and motorbikes kind of guy than chess club.” Was he showing off a bit? Sure. Was he also leaving out some things such as photography? Yup. Would Hayes or Claire rat him out? Maybe. Still, he was making the effort at smalltalk that might catch interest enough to get a dance....

There was something he should check first though. Aulus glanced over at Hayes, giving him a quizzical look, and then nodding a greeting to Faleen as he noticed her arrival. Sure were a lot of rockets here tonight, but then who wouldn’t jump at the chance to get off base and metaphorically let their hair down a bit? Well – Aulus glanced briefly at Frost who was waving his staff thingie at Tam’s Golbat – there were always weirdoes. Anyway, strange people and number of people aside what he really wanted to know was whether or not Hayes would get pissed at him if he danced with his sister. If Hayes would get pissed then it wasn’t worth it; he could probably find some other girl to show a bit of interest in.

(Punch bowl club)

Dani's behavior with Hayes was amusing - sister, definitely, with how she was acting - but the way she swept right past her and onto Aulus made one eyebrow raise. Okay, that wasn't amusing. At all.

Just as a strange feeling had started whirling around her head - possibly her stomach too - her attention snapped to Faleen when the blond touched a piece of her wings. Blue eyes studied the fading glow momentarily - not that she realized it was fading yet - then focused on Faleen instead. "Something wrong?" Were they on crooked? Had one or two rods stopped glowing? Did they look bad? Aulus didn't seem too interested in them, they probably looked bad.

Unfortunately she was too distracted to notice that Isadora had left. She was also too distracted to notice that she had yet to open her can of soda that she held with both hands - actually it'd probably be warm by the time she remembered it. Her fingers fidgeting over its smooth surface were likely the only indication of the surge of confusing indecision that suddenly plagued her.

(Sheena's Umbreon)
(I'm sorry I missed this before, sad )

Bro had only really grabbed enough to throw at the people around his buddy Jerome.
Before he had slipped himself out of view again, he had to put on both an amused and annoyed face, two pokemon coming up to him, and look at them being all polite and s**t.

The Gangster pokemon cackled at the Umbreon, reaching out to throw an arm around the Lampert as well, not really caring if it made him uncomfortable.
master of yours I've gatta say, go you sucker's are trained well, wanna make sure they're well hydrated.> He snickers.
He accentuated this with a brow waggle
he concluded in a voice that might have well have said "F*** you"

It was here, that he finished off the last drink, and poofed out of view.
Bro owed nothing to anyone... anyone but Jerome.

It only took a second, but he reappeared very suddenly next to the Umbreon.

A cup was dropped down onto the floor in front of the Umbreon part of the content sloshing out onto the floor, only the contents of the cup were not the light red they should be, but a deep red liquid. Nothing but wine in this cup.

And with that Bro faded from sight again, with a wide dark smile.

Sierra and Khalon (@ punch bowl group)

((No worries, BG, it happens and it's pretty busy in here XD))

Khalon quirked an eye at the Gengar only briefly. Eh, it was a Ghost-type afterall. It would be strange if the other were well-behaved and polite, wouldn't it? The Umbreon knew that he himself was already a bit of an oddity, likely one of the calmer of Sierra's Pokemon. Then again, given the team, that wasn't hard. And he still had his moments, being a Dark-type.

He only nodded to the Gengar before he disappeared, then leaned in to inspect the cup. The sweet, yet pungent scent assaulting his senses was definitely not punch. Not in the slightest. And yet... He glanced over at Sierra thoughtfully, still awkwardly trying to make conversation at the punch bowl. Oh that hopeless girl. She really needed to relax a little. Besides, Khalon was here to look after her in case things got TOO out of hand, right?

Chuckling to himself, the Umbreon bent and took the very edge of the cup lip between his teeth, then padded over to the drink table, careful not to spill a drop of what was left in the cup. Upon reaching his destination, he pawed lightly at Sierra's leg to get her attention and held the cup up as an offering.

"Varied, yes..." Sierra was saying distractedly, watching the crowd alongside Frost. The light brush of something against her leg caused her to look down and blink at Khalon. "Oh, thank you, Khalon," she said, taking the cup as recognition dawned. She gave him a quick ear scratch, then straightened up. She had been about to take a drink when she paused, sniffing the cup. Wait a minute... Sierra aimed a suspicious look at the Umbreon...if he could have detached one of his glowing rings to use as a halo, that was the look he was giving her now.

It wasn't as if Sierra had never partaken of alcohol before...and she felt it had its place...but was now the time? Her anxiety and awkwardness looming in the background told her...heck yes. Still, might as well make it taste better. Grabbing one of the soda cans from the table, she popped the top and poured a bit of the clear citrus soda into the mix, filling it to the brim. Mmm...wine spritzer.

"At least the day-glo Golbat with the cake seems to have moved along," she commented idlly, taking a drink.

=====

Sheena (@ Luke, Rosie, Charlotte, and dance floor)

"Charlotte? A pleasure," Sheena returned with another half-bow. She had just heard Luke's comment and was starting to ask, "One of yours? Really? And here I thought he was one-of-a-ki--" and the pair of them were suddenly pulled onto the dance floor with Rosie. She actually let out a startled squeak (much to Gnome's amusement), as she tried to keep her footing amidst the chaos.

Feel the music? Really? Sheena hadn't really been one for dancing much before, but...she did have other skills. Maybe something that might be helpful here? Especially if it really didn't matter what she did...as long as she didn't completely embarrass herself.

Tentatively at first, she tried to focus on the music and the beat, rocking from one foot to the other in time, then slowly adding her hips to the movement. After a while, she seemed to forget her self-consciousness over her costume and even started to smile while bouncing to the up-tempo beat. Rosie's enthusiasm was contageous.

How long had it been since she'd allowed herself to cut loose like this?
