✧ * ゜ ・ 。Baby Tennessee 。・゜ * ✧
The Watauga Association

Tennessee was at first apprehensive as he usually was towards being snuggled into anyone's arms, but when the child felt the warmth of the tropical state, and the soft scent of her hair tickled his nose as she pressed her forehead against his, he began to relax. It was difficult not to feel calm and at peace when paradise literally embraced him no matter what his general reservations were to physical contact. Hawaii was still so unique and mysterious to the landlocked state and his childish, old frontier impulses were difficult to ignore.

When he had been little the North American continent had no boundaries--none worth paying attention to, at least--and it had felt like God was always telling him that the young American's destiny existed in the mythical west. Andrew had never questioned that need to conquer the west back then because it seemed self evident that all of the former colonies were equally destined to be part of the American Union. When he and other frontier explorers had reached the Pacific Ocean during the Mexican-American War, Tennessee remembered being... disappointed. Landon was a great state, there was no questioning that, and Andrew had felt enormous accomplishment in finding the edge of the west. However, even as he contented himself with knowing he had helped make America great and demonstrated his nation's superiority to all other foreign powers on the continent, he was disappointed. Andrew had always expected something more and, perhaps if he had been more of a sea fairing sort, he would have thought to keep searching westward into the ocean. There he would have found Hawaii and realized that maybe it wasn't the Golden State which had been the treasure he and the other explorers had been unwittingly searching for.

The baby state blinked in mild surprise when he felt Hawaii pull back and her finger brush along his chin so he was looking up at her. Tennessee's cheeks flushed again hoping that Hawaii couldn't read his mind because that would be too embarrassing. She probably wouldn't like it, either, considering how American adventurers had treated her in the past. Maybe it was a good thing that they hadn't met then. The baby state had been so much more impulsive as a child so he couldn't say with any honest certainty he would have been any better to her than them. Even so, the small child couldn't help being drawn to her uniqueness despite the simultaneous apprehension he had towards anything that he thought was foreign or different. As she spoke to him, it was easier for the little frontier to ignore his childish impulses to explore her and he found himself content. Hearing her voice and feeling her hand gently patting his head was enough and he was satisfied with not knowing. Tennessee, even as the wild frontier formerly known as Watauga, had no desire to make Hawaii into a new adventure because simply hearing her voice was more than enough to make him feel like he was already on an adventure of sorts. Andrew didn't know exactly what that meant, though.

The baby state smiled in his own soft, slightly dull way. "Yeah. I wanna keep bein' wiff you when I'm big again," he said as he swelled with pride when she praised him for his chivalry. Or at least whatever his brand of chivalry was. The rumble of her stomach made his eyes widen slightly in surprise, but he didn't condemn her for the bodily function and only nodded to comfort her for it when she excused herself. Tennessee watched as she dove into her secret stash of snacks with big, sad, hungry orange-brown eyes. He tried with all his might not to covet her food, but the baby was so hungry after missing lunch. Andrew was ringing the edge of his shirt between his hands in an effort not to beg or act shamefully as he watched her. Finally Hawaii seemed to notice him as he struggled not to drool or whine.

"I want some!" he hastily said when she suggested sharing. The baby raised his arms up towards her with greedy little gimme hands. Despite the fact she had tried to spare him from it, he did somewhat resemble a begging puppy with the mixture of love, hope and hunger in his eyes.

Cherelle was glad Andrew agreed, she really didn’t want to miss lunch. Now she could only wait on Charlotte’s response.

Or for an rude Pacific island to come in and interrupt.

Truthfully, Cherelle didn’t mind the state joining them. What bugged her was the way she completely ignored Seychelles, in addition to the way she had been acting towards Cherelle. Cherelle had hardly said a few words to her, and had been nothing but kind when she had, yet Leilani was always so rude to her. What hurt Cherelle even more though, as she watched from the side, was how Andrew ran into Leilani’s arms and completely ignored the fact that there were two other girls in the room as he chatted away with Leilani. She looked on jealously for a moment more, as she offered to share her food with Andrew, and since Cherelle got the feeling she didn’t plan on sharing with anyone else, least of all her, she turned to Charlotte. "I’m going to get something to eat, wanna come with me?" she said coolly, trying not to show her anger or jealousy in her her voice.

When the ocean beats the rhythm and the wind plays the melody in harmony with it,
There, you can hear the sounds that birds are singing.
See, your body naturally starts to move!
The tuna, the shrimps, the dolphins and the sea gulls, when we hold their hands, they all become our friends.
Let's sing to the rhythm.
If we smile each other, our wish will be one☆

The island chain called Hawaii smiled brightly at the young Tennessee's instant reaction to her offering of food, while also chuckling out loud before she grabbed her backpack and rested it on her right leg--since she was still in a squatted position before him. "Alright, alright. Hold on, lemme see what I got for you." She mused as she rummaged around and found another one of her fruit snacks, although this one was a larger fruit roll-up, it was strawberry flavored. So that must be good. "Here, you can have this one." She told him as she reached over and handed him the fruit snack. While it was in his hand, she just sat there and watched him for a moment before shaking her head, realizing something that she had forgotten. "Oh wait!" She exclaimed lightly as she reached forward and tore open the wrapper for the snack, just so Andrew wouldn't have to. "There you go, alright, now enjoy it." She said with another laugh as she zipped up her backpack, still holding another fruit snack and the chocolate protein bar in her right hand.

Over her shoulder and out of her peripherals, Leilani could see Cherelle's most unbecoming signs of jealousy and simply snorted through her nose as she returned her attention to Andrew for the moment as she raised herself from a squatted positon to a standing position. When she overheard Cherelle's invitation to Charlotte to go and get food, she immediately looked over to the clock and almost swore under her breath. "Ugh, I hate being this late." She mumbled to herself before she turned on her heel and looked to Charlotte as well. "Well, I think it's about time I head out to my class. I think you should as well, you've already missed your last class from what I can tell." She chuckled at this before she turned and looked down to Andrew once more. "I'll see you after we get out of class, okay? Maybe I can find Arthur and he can get you back to your original state." She smiled before she checked the clock once more and turned to leave for her next class.

Tennessee all too happily took the fruit snacks from Hawaii and plopped down on his bum to munch on it as if he hadn't eaten in ages. He was so focused on his treat that the baby almost didn't notice Leilani was leaving until she turned to him and suggested they try to figure out how to get him back to his normal self after school. Little Andrew nodded in agreement knowing that it was very inconvenient to be a baby sometimes. Especially when it meant he had to pester Georgia for breakfast that morning and everyone kept trying to pet and cuddle him. It was a problem.

"Bye, Weiwani!" he called after her while waving at the elder state. Tennessee continued to sit and nibble on his treat before he finally looked over and noticed the less than pleased look on Seychelles' face. The small child blinked cluelessly at the tension between the island state and island nation which he never seemed aware of. Instead, he assumed she, too, must still be hungry and blushed in shame. He tore off the part of his snack he hadn't bitten yet and offered it to her with big, guilty baby eyes. "Want some?"

Cherelle shook her head at Andrew's cluelessness, then mentally chided herself for getting so upset. After all, he was still a child, so naturally he had a short attention span. She was sure that was the only reason he had practically ignored her and Charlotte. However, that didn't mean Cherelle wanted the Hawaiian's snacks though. She did her best to smile at Andrew. "No thanks, I'm not that hungry." She lied. Her stomach then growled, but she hoped it hadn't ben loud enough for anyone to hear.

Cherelle habitually looked up when the bell rang. She hadn’t exactly been keeping track of what period is was, but if she remembered correctly, that bell had been the one to end the day. Looking up at the clock confirmed her suspicions. Had they really wasted their whole day in the art room? Apparently so. "Well, no reason to stick around here any longer." She said, standing up. Her stomach growled again, reminding her that she hadn't eaten all day. "How about we go to the restaurant, and get a real meal?"

"Yeah!" Tennessee said cheerfully as Seychelles suggested they go out to eat. He was happy about any suggestion with food involved although he paused when he realized that as the boy he should probably pay. Andrew searched through his tiny pockets and struggled to unearth his wallet which had been crammed down in his pants with limited success considering how big it was compared to his baby pockets. Tennessee glanced up at her and smiled happily as if proud of himself for being able to pay like a big boy.

"Wet's go eat," he said happily.

"But I enjoy math..." she grumbled but then again, maybe it was a good idea to skip long as he had this hang over. Charlotte rubbed her temple for a bit when Leilani appeared all giddy. It didn't take much to sense the thick tension between the state and nation. Drunk or not.

The Tarheel decline the offer from Hawaii to say something about having peanut butter crackers in her purse. Of course Andrew couldn't resist for he was much too sweet to turn it down. Carolina caught on to Cherelle's hint, though she didn't like the fact of it meaning to leave Andrew here with Hawaii when he was supposedly dating someone else. Luckily the Hawaiian had bide them farewell.

"Sounds good to me. Then we can get Ten back to normal already. We could probably ask someone like Norway since I feel bad for resorting to Arthur all the time."

Charlotte dashed to third period only to discover herself as the only student there. Great not only did she oversleep and missed two classes, she probably missed the memo of class being canceled or something. The North Carolinian let out a small sigh while rubbing her temple gently. Everything that happened the night before at the Halloween party was complete blur. She remembered wanting to perhaps talk to Anica but seemed busy and wanted over to the refreshments, but nothing else. Would of assumed the punch got spiked or something but felt that she would of recalled at least something for she wasn't a lightweight drunk.

The buzz coming from her pocket caused a quick jump from her thoughts, taking a few moment to settle her startled heart. Glancing at the text she quickly replied back.
Quote:
Aw! Could I join?

Not really a response to receive from one typically paranoid about education but right now she wasn't really seeing the point, plus with a few festivals back at home still yet to come, she was needed to provided some input for her boss. Cotton Fest, music fest, then Christmas to worry about..."

(Too lazy for ever making a text format! EVER!!)

Tennessee's response was quick and simple.

"Yeah, that would be good. Lundy is British. I'm not so good with British."

Which ignored the fact that most of his siblings had been British when he first met them and he had been getting along with England when they weren't trying to out tsundere one another. But that wasn't the point. The point was that Andrew still wasn't very confident about this sort of thing.
