Meme smiled softly and took the apple gladly. "Both, but thats why I love apples. They're like drinking juice and eating fruit at the same time, because they're so juicy." he said softly as he bit into it, savoring the crisp fresh taste of the apple. "What do you think of everything thats happened? I mean I know how you felt about being betrayed but.......nevermind....." Meme highly doubted the prince would be honest in describing how he felt about marrying a servant and began stuffing his cheeks full of the apple.

Kuro ignored Akito, he would speak with the boy another time. He gave a soft sigh and began to unbutton his uniform, opening the shirt underneath to show the emblem burned into his chest, bared over his heart. "I believe this should be sufficient proof of who I work for. This is the royal seal of King Alaric. I am the royal butler and am very close to Prince Rufus. Trust me, you will want to hear what I have to say." he said softly as he began to button his shirt and coat once more.

 "I think that being married to you might be fun. But first we have to sort out the Princess, the alliance and most importantly: we have to handle my father." He paused. "Let me rephrase that: I have to handle my father. You have to hide out until I can bring you into the palace safely."

Meme kept quiet for a while longer. The more he though about it the more he realized he had no idea how to act as a royal nor as a husband. He always heard stories about how husbands and wives are supposed to make love a lot, and how the wife is supposed to bake or make sure that there is a hot meal for when the husband comes home. There was so much Meme needed to learn, he wasn't sure if he was even cut out for this, but he wasn't going to give up without a fight. Meme had gone this far at least. He couldn't help but blush as he thought about all of the things him and Rufus would do together now that they were married. Meme knew he would need to act a certain way and thought he may as well try to get used to it. He stood onto his knees and crawled over to Rufus, turning around and sitting on his lap, still blushing a bit as he had done so but for some reason Meme believed he felt it necessary to become what was expected of him. A husband and a lover.

Kuro nodded. "I have spoken with your daughter and have found that both her and Rufus do not wish to marry one another. Your daughter wishes to marry your guard. On behalf of King Alaric, I recommend you allow your daughter to marry the guard, nobody likes marrying someone they do not love." Kuro stated rather bluntly, though of course he knew the king would fight tooth and nail against him. Kuro was prepared and skillfully remained at the door so the King wouldn't try to escape.

Rufus lifted his arms around Meme automatically, but after a moment he lowered them again so he wasn't holding Meme at all. "Uhm... not that I dislike, disapprove or don't want you to sit in my lap, Meme, but: what are you doing?" he murmured, putting his mouth close to Meme's ear.

Lionel listened in stunned silence to Kuro's speech, unable to credit it. "What twisted game are you playing, servant?! You dare to tell me my daughter - MY daughter! - cannot come to me and tell me, herself, that she wishes to marry another? Ha! I find you insulting and absurd! GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" He pushed Kuro out the door, leaning against it once Kuro was on the other side.
Troy caught Kuro as King Lionel threw him out and slammed the door. He stared at the newcomer, wondering what he'd said to enrage the King so.
Still, he was a guard, so he held onto Kuro and turned so that he barred the door from the servant.
"Be on your way; my King does not wish to speak with you."

Meme was glad when he felt the other's hands move to hold him but he wished the Prince had just kept his mouth shut. Sometimes he didn't always have an answer for the actions he made but this one did seem like a pretty big deal to Rufus. "U-um...well......I thought since we're married and all that maybe we should act like it. I mean I'm so much smaller than you, I don't think we want people thinking I'm your little brother or something." he said softly, though he kept the part out about him feeling worried about what they were doing. It felt nice to be comforted by someone else for the moment.

Kuro didn't fight back against Lionel in the least, he knew this accusation wouldn't sit very well with him and so allowed the King to shove him wherever Lionel believed necessary. He was a little relieved, however, to find himself outside the room instead of pressed against the wall and beaten. Kuro was a bit shaken, though, he could feel himself growing angrier and now that he was noticing the guard touching him, however appropriate the touch, Kuro smacked the guard's hands away, though it was more of a reflex than anything. Kuro took a deep breath and steadied himself. "Prince Rufus said you would say that. He also told me if you do not heed my word, then my Master will consider this an act of war. Can you really afford your pathetic little Kingdom to be squashed by Alaric? I would think not." he stated loud enough for his voice to be heard through the door, though he wasn't sure if Lionel was even considering what Kuro was saying.

Rufus lowered them to the ground, sitting Meme close to him. "Well, at the moment... perhaps we should make it look like you're my brother. We are trying not to draw attention. However..." he smiled and lifted Meme's head gently. "I suppose we can manage this..." Rufus pecked Meme's lips, then pulled back. "But we'll get used to being married in our own time." He murmured.

"Do you try to tell me that King Alaric, the man who has spent the last week congratulating me on an excellent match-in-the-making, knew of this? Ha! You do not know what you talk of, servant! If you speak the truth, which I doubt, then your King is not the one proposing war, and if I take the matter to him then your master, Prince Rufus, shall be the one to pay for this speech. Be gone, and think properly about how to handle this 'situation'."
Lionel cleared his throat. "Troy, go find that other servant, the stupid one, who promised champagne to apologise for the delay. I grow impatient!"
Troy folded his arms, allowing Kuro to smack his hands but not letting him close to the door.
When Lionel finished his speech, he took Kuro's arm and led him away. "He is not a bad King, but you cannot go in there making threats and expect him to be pleasant. What is your issue? Can I help? We shall talk after I send the other servant in..."

Meme looked a little disappointed when he was put down onto the ground. He felt his heart fly when he received a small peck on the lips and even blushed a little. It was nice to have someone care for him, he always had Akito but this was different. "S-so um......what kinds of things do you like?" he asked, trying to change the subject so the blush would leave, though that was unlikely. At least they could use this time to get to know each other a little more. Meme looked inside the basket Rufus brought and found some cheese that would go really well with the rolls he had.

Kuro glared at the hand which grabbed him and yanked his arm back. He hated other people touching him so roughly, Kuro had half a mind to punch the guard right in the face but he knew all too well how much training these men had. And the right hand man of the King would be a lethal weapon if Kuro blindly initiated attack. Kuro took the glare off his expression, knowing it wouldn't do him any good, and looked up at Troy. "You need to speak with the Princess. I have an understanding that you two wish to be together. Your King is blinded. While Alaric applauded your King's matchmaking decision, if Alaric were to catch wind of King Lionel's long history of disdain toward Alaric, it might be a good excuse for Alaric to lay ruin to your kingdom. You and I both know how defenseless and poor your kingdom is." Kuro said somewhat quickly before Troy could get far, this situation was just too important to wait until Akito arrived.

"I liked kissing you, if that's what you're asking." The Prince winked, relaxing enough to lie on his back. "Riding. I like riding, relaxing somewhere my father is unlikely to find me." He picked at the grass. "My two favourite pastimes: hiding and finding ways to piss him off." He stroked Meme's hair, voice quiet as he finished with: "Though I suppose I'll have to stop pissing him off now I'm married."

Troy froze and stared at Kuro. "She told you? This is a delicate situation-!" he broke off and thumped the wall with his hand. "Have you ever loved someone you wanted to strangle? Not maim, or kill, but really shake some sense into them? What a mess! Now my King will demand answers of me, and I won't be able to lie.
Has Prince Rufus confronted his father with the news that he doesn't wish to wed my love?"

Meme blushed even more and habitually began to fill his cheeks with bread and cheese like a squirrel, though he sort of regretted it later when Rufus started to talk more. Meme slowly chewed and swallowed before he spoke. "I like to ride too, horses scare me sometimes though. They're such big animals, I'm always afraid that they're going to throw me off their backs." he said with a little smile, trying not to let Rufus think about his father so much.

Kuro shook his head. "no sir, I haven't told anyone else. My Prince does know but he hasn't had the chance to tell Alaric. He is still in his room here." he said softly, moving a little closer to the young man to speak with him quietly as this was indeed a very delicate situation. "There is a little...'situation'...involving my Prince. But the bottom line is that both the Princess and him do not wish to wed. I'm going to need your help to convince Lionel though, it seems my first trick didn't work very well."

Trapped. Akito slowly came up the stairs, making as much noise as possible so that Kuro could finish his conversation before he arrived.
"Right..." He took a deep breath. "The servant is here. I'll deliver the champagne and then meet you back here. Do not threaten the King again - they don't take well to it, though Alaric seems to deserve some life-threatening situations... Lionel is a good man. Give him a chance to digest this and work out what's to be done; Alaric is just as likely to declare that nothing has changed, and threaten war if they don't marry."
Troy ushered Kuro towards the stairs.

Meme smiled at him and was reminded that they were in a dangerous situation right now. He stood up with Rufus as well and placed what was left of the cheese inside the basket again before looking ahead. "The rest of the path is starting to look a little...creepy." he said softly, noticing the heavily wooded area they would enter about a mile away from them. "What if there are dangerous animals in there?"

The butler gave a soft sigh, his hands were still trembling just a little. A side affect of his anger getting out of control, he was never entirely good at keeping his temper under control around those who deserved to be stabbed a few times. "I'll leave this alone for now then." he said softly as he turned toward Akito, stopping in front of the boy for a moment before wrapping his arms tightly around him. "Be careful." he whispered softly before leaving Akito and heading downstairs without even a final glance at the boy. Kuro left for the bar once again where he was sure the Princess stayed, being stared at by a room full of handsy drunks, no doubt.

"Then I protect you and you run for safety. I know you won't like it, Meme, but you have to. I know how to handle a sword and I've been hunting, so I know what I'm doing." He took hold of Meme's hand and started them walking again.

Trapped. The Princess turned to Kuro as he came in. "What did my father say?" she didn't wait for an answer, but took a drink of water and continued. "Notice the wide gap around me? Alaric apparently wants a fight and was willing to prove his mettle if anyone 'dishonored' me by groping or ogling me. Even though he's gone, they don't come near."When Kuro hugged him, Akito started to feel worried. Kuro might have felt guilty since Rufus tied him up, but he didn't like him enough to worry about him...did he? But he couldn't do anything, so he handed the bottle to Troy, who tested it, then apologised to King Lionel.
...
When he was dismissed, he headed back down the stairs... only to be caught by Alaric. He gagged on the alcoholic fumes on the man's hands.
King Lionel ordered Troy to join him, telling Akito to leave moments after he'd knocked on the door. The King needed a word with his guard.
...
Lionel shared the champagne with Troy as he listened to the tale, nodding at the end of it and promising to think up some kind of a solution.
"I admit, Alaric doesn't always inspire confidence." He murmured, ushering Troy out.
Troy told his King all about the love he shared with the Princess, explaining that they had known they were doomed before they began; that they'd intended to bury their feelings. He didn't know she'd written to Rufus, so he couldn't be called a liar. He explained that the Princess had thought Rufus to be like his father, and so had dreaded the union.
((Tell me if I'm out of bounds, having Alaric grab Akito. I know he's your character and I shouldn't have controlled him, but I want him to be saved...?))

Meme was glad to feel Rufus' hand in his own but he was starting to feel like he was helpless. Meme stayed where he was and let his arm tug against Rufus' arm. "I know I'm not...very skilled in combat. But that doesn't mean I can't defend myself. If something happens, I want to be able to help instead of running!" Meme said rather determinedly.
Alaric could hear a couple of voices in the room at the top of the stairs and decided they needed to move now before they were caught. This sort of behavior was very much frowned upon but that's why Alaric loved it. He kept his hand against Akito's mouth, picking him up just enough to let his feet come off of the floor as he ran them back to his room. Once they were inside the safety of the room, Alaric pressed his back to the door and locked the deadbolt to assure nobody would interrupt. "Now that we're alone..." he whispered softly, bringing Akito to the bed to sit on and moving his hand to Akito's neck. "...What kept you so long?" he asked softly, applying just a little pressure against Akito's windpipe, though not enough to cut off his air just yet.

Kuro did in fact notice that the Princess seemed to be in the middle of what appeared to be a crop circle, only without the crops. "I can see that. Why was Alaric out of his room to begin with? He should have the urge to go anywhere, especially since he's unable to leave the town." Kuro felt a disturbance in the air but was unable to pinpoint what was wrong, and if he ran somewhere in here it would probably set off an alarm to alert the authorities. That was the last thing this situation needed.

Akito trembled, terrified. "I-I had to wait - King Lionel was busy. But he didn't scold me o-or talk to me. I handed him the bottle and glasses, then left. I swear, we didn't do anything!"

Meme grinned a little. "I'm pretty good! I used to knock apples off of trees with rocks all the time back at the slave farm! I've just never used a bow or anything. But I'm sure I could learn easily!" he said rather hopefully, glad that he was actually going to be of some use.
Alaric growled, he hated liars. "I guess we'll just have to get the truth out of you the hard way." he seethed, getting frustrated with the boy moving around more than normal. "The more you move boy the more this is going to hurt!" he snapped, grabbing his knife and stripping Akito clothes off, slicing deep wounds into his arms and legs. "Such beautiful red blood." he whispered, knowing the boy would scream but luckily nobody else was here who would dare interrupt them.

Kuro let it go for the moment and took his seat next to the Princess. "Your father didn't take this too well. I told Troy, he's going to help us out a little bit. Don't worry, everything will be finished by the end of the day." he said softly, though he knew something was off.
