((The Valeyard is the physical manifestation of the darkness inside of the Doctor, taken into physical form from between his 12th and 13th regenerations. Oh, come now, Doctor! Surely you haven't grown so old as to forget me? Gallifrey? Your sixth incarnation? I was your prosecutor, remember? The Valeyard rolled his eyes. Did you really leave that fleeting of and impression on yourself? He looked over at the Cybermen, who had all surrounded Drean and were preparing equipment to treat him. As for them, we're allies, I'm not relying on them! Doctor, you really have gotten old, haven't you?

Drean continued to struggle against the magnet, only to have the problem of the other bonds stopping him. The Valeyard's right, this thing's wreaking havok... on my... on my... What's that thingy called again? Seveal of the panels on his body began to slide back and forth as even the electromagnetic impulses in his brain began to stutter.

The valeyard watched all of this with what could only be described as bemused fascination. Honestly, I believed a cyborg might last a bit longer than that. Interesting.

The hard... hard drive... harddrive... H-H-H-H-Harddrive... His eyes slowly shut, like a child reluctant to go to sleep. har-har-hard dr-dr-dr-dr- His senseless muttering finally came to a halt as his struggling body fell limp. Home... Was all that could be heard of his last whisper.

One of the cybermen who had been gathering around the table took a nearby cable and attached it to Dreans chest. Unit fully deactivated and wiped for reprogramming.

The valeyard clapped his hands and stood up, positioning himself on one side of the giant Eye of Harmony in the floor. Well, Doctor! It appears that you have a choice to make! You can have your poor friend, here, to try and reprogram as you wish, in exchange for your remaining regenerations. Otherwise, he goes with the cybermen now, and you get to wander around in my maze for what little remains of your life. The choice is yours. He gave a teasing shrug. My guess would be that the K-9 Operating System would fit the hardware quite nicely...

The valeyard's eyes narrowed as he looked down at the young girl giving him the offer. You? Regenerations? Prove it!

Hmmm... Fascinating. But, that still leaves me with the Doctor to take care of. Knowing him, he'll find some way of getting in my way later on. More regenerations for him ensures that. The Valeyard's eyebrows furrowed. And I hold all of the cards! What makes you think that I'll negotiate?

What could you possibly have that I don't? The Valeyard laughed.

Distress beacon activated! Attempting to deactivate now... One of the cybermen called, attempting to delicately reach down into Drean's chest cavity.

What?? Deactivate it! NOW! The Valeyard screamed, dashing to the table and pushing the cyberman aside. Without hesitation, he plunged his hand into the cyborg's chest and ripped out what was evidently the distress beacon, covered in both blood and oil. It appeared to be the modified medical scanner that he had taken from Kat earlier.

Still bound, Drean's body arched upwards in reaction to the sudden disturbance, and the vital signs on the screen above (Which had been showing him as a still living, but simply in a vegetative state) began to go haywire. The Valeyard ignored this and hurled the small device at the wall, where it shattered into a thousand pieces.

What? No! NOOOO! As the energy struck the Valeyard's body, he stumbled backwards, vanishing in a dramatic explosion of light. The eye of Harmony in the floor sealed itself shut again, and everything fell quiet as Katrina single-handedly eliminated all of the enemies in the room.

Vwoorp... Vwoorp... Vwoorp...

Responding to the call of the distress beacon, the Tardis materialized around Drean, taking in both the table that he was laying on and a small part of the floor in its haste to materialize.

The Tardis wasted no time in establishing a hard-wire connection with Drean, running physical diagnostic checks and activating the nanites to reconstruct both mechanical and biological components. In the end, though, both the time lord and the time machine failed in the most essential task: restoring his mind. Just like a true computer's hard drive, Drean's mind had been completely wiped. There was a moment of hesitation when the Doctor ordered the Tardis to check for all possible ways to restore him. After a couple minutes, a small grouping of words appeared on the main screen.

Retreiving backup data from processor core...

The monitor flickered, changing to a scene of a large family room, with Drean sitting on a large couch, completely human. He was asleep, curled up with a large book and leaning on a much older woman in a dark blue dress who looked much like the body that the Tardis Matrix had taken when she had been forced out of her own home. The entire scene could be summed up in one word: homely. With motherlike gentleness, she reached down and shook him awake, then pointed out towards the Doctor and Kat. Drean sat up and walked closer to what could only be some kind of camera. The difference in him was obvious. He no longer limped, his eyes didn't glow with artificial light, but with vivacity, and his arm was made of flesh and blood. He was completely human.

Oh, no... Doctor, what happened? What kind of mess did I get myself into this time? The face on the screen looked out at them, obviously able to process what was going on outside.
