After hearing Nurse Cricket talk about FEAR compatibility and infecting families put the hound into a tailspin trying to keep track of the information from here and how it differed with the clan's knowledge. He spent a good portion of his time drawing his family tree in the air, with his brow scrunched up in deep thought.
However the Glowy uneaten Bul did bring up a good point that made the hellhound nod at the teacher. "Yeah what he said." he said quietly before continuing "This whole concept of FEAR compatibility seems a bit more confusing that what I initially came in here knowing, is there any chance you could elaborate on the topic?" he asked rather formally, with the grace that hopefully would curb the teacher from having a afternoon hot dog snack.

All of this was incredibly over Danny's head. For the last couple of minutes she had just sat there gaping at all the jargon coming out of Cricket's mouth. One thing had sunk into snug and tight though.
"So what you're saying is ... like ... if we go the pumpkin patch with another species ... we get bad scarelings? And can hurt ourselves?" Danny's head was tilted almost at a ninety degree angle. That didn't make any sense. Isn't the pumpkin patch just where you went to talk to the undead stork man and ask for a scareling pumpkin? That's what Danny's mom had always told her. "Does the stork man not like different species having scarelings together?" she mused.
Problems? Danny searched her body up and down, but didn't see any infections. What did Cricket mean by infections that people already have? "Roch do you have one of those infection thingies?" she whispered to her reaper friend. Then again, Stupid Roch probably wasn't the best person to ask for these kinds of things. He hadn't been to the pumpkin patch with anyone ... had he? She shook her head and stuck out her tongue with disgust. No one would ever go to the pumpkin patch with Stupid Roch!
When Cricket mentioned the "entire family" bit, Danny's mind immediately wandered to her parents. She could kill them by going to the pumpkin patch? Well maybe not kill them, but give them one of those infections.
Just what was this weird FEAR compatibility thing? "Nurse Cricket I don't get it!" she whined. A little cockroach crawled up on her desk at that moment, and Danny gave a little squeak. She stuck out a finger and the cockroach seemed friendly enough. Absentmindedly, she began to pet it, to which it responded ... well as lovingly as a cockroach could. How cute!

"Hell if I know, it's possible my old man was carrying one and passed it down to me, but it's somethin' that doesn't affect reapers that much, see?" Roch said, knowing she wouldn't understand even as he told her. "Cuz she said it can be passed through the family faster. Not that I ever SEE him," he added in a mutter, frowning as he tried to think it over.
But then again, wouldn't it have gotten his Mom if his Dad had something? She'd been a demoness--a drunken, poor excuse for a demoness, but a demoness nonetheless. So--
His frown turned into a scowl as he thought about how little he knew of his own family.

Cricket game Danny a long stare.
"Stupid." Cricket said, as though the concept that pumpkins were brought by..anything but a pumpkin was completely stupid to her. To be exact, it was way more than stupid to her, and her nose scrunched up a bit to show for this. Children were not delivered by the stork.
"What I'm saying has nothing to do with the conception of children." she said, heaving a sigh. Stupid. They were all completely stupid.
"What I'm saying is that because you students have started sleeping with each other, this discussion needs to happen." She growled a bit, obviously annoyed the talk had to happen at all, nonetheless with her leading it.
She grumbled a bit before she got up. "Pumpkins are a very safe host. They maintain FEARlevels well and balance them out, keeping a child inside healthy. There are...rare exceptions to this, however.." She paused, looking to their resident horsewoman with a light nod. "Children are, in turn, rather 'immune' to imbalances from the parents, outside of infections a parent has from an outside party which could be passed onto them in less than a heartbeat."
Cricket walked between the desks purposely, looking at each of the desks as she passed, though not the students sitting in them.
"Basically a pumpkin is performing the function that most young and uninformed people don't when they take up a partner. Young people don't have enough control over their FEAR to keep track of any FEAR balance, and thus are most likely to infect one another. Most adult pairings take the time to find out that balance before they go any further than kissing or holding hands."
She tilted her head thoughtfully at the class.
"You all sound so surprised at the possibility of any of this that it's a surprise I haven't had to ...treat anything yet."
There was a moment when she seemed to think back to her previous class and a certain yelling fit that had happened.
Hmmm, did she want to talk about Protection charms?
She walked up to the board at the front of the room and looked at it appraisingly, before picking up a piece of chalk and drawing a small diagram.

She was now sure that she'd have to look back to her Ma to get the answers. With the Professor's reaction to the question, Levi sighed a bit; this was all for her benefit though, wasn't it? Surely in the eyes of her elders, after such pride in her being the first tatzel to leave their town for an education, this was a subject she'd have to learn earlier than the rest. If she was in a class that involved it, it was a part of her learning experience. Mating - she'd be the first of the tatzel kin her age to learn about it. Levi crossed her forearms over her desk and leaned forward with a light smile; more experienced already.
In attention of Cricket's example on the board and all the talk about imperfections in FEAR and development, the tatzel thought about her own situation. Is that why I'm not black coated? She knew something had gone wrong in her pumpkin as a youngling; or was it before that even? She had been born lacking the dark outer skin and fur her kind lived by for sneaking around with and pouncing on unsuspecting prey. Another thing to ask her Ma about?...
The diagram was still troublesome to her. Only now for more than one reason; her face showed it.

Mitsu continued to jot down notes as Ms. Cricket spoke, the look the teacher had on her face not going unnoticed. This was a lot of new information to absorb, Mitsu hoped she didn't miss anything though she wasn't sure she was piecing the puzzle together just yet. She understood now that it involved two people getting close, how close she had yet to determine. Something to do with pants and snogging. Hopefully she would figure it out later and there wouldn't be tears involved.
As the teacher walked by Mitsu looked up at the ghost in her passing before the Professor made her way to the front of the room to focus on the blackboard. With the teacher doodling out her diagram Mitsu tried to mimic it in her notebook, though it was messy. She wanted to ask Shun if he had known about the FEARinfections the teacher was talking about but it felt strange to talk up during class. So as usual the wolf girl remained silent taking her notes and glancing to the other students to see how they were reacting to all of this.

Astra didn't know if this class was explaining everything, or making things more confusing. Like mitsu she took our her notebook and pen, scribbling down the diagram on the board and taking extra notes so she could refer to them in the future. All this talk though of getting closer and 'sleeping with each other', was making her very curious. However she was not sure if she really wanted to find out more. Something told her she didn't, not matter how curious she was.
Frowning at the the diagram she drew, she continued to look at in trying to understand the last panel, and also trying not to think of what kind of 'infections' one could get...

... Kissing.
They were talking about kissing? All of a sudden the pup realized exactly what the discussion was about. Cooties.
His fluffy ears flattened backwards and his nose wrinkled. Ew, he knew you could get diseases from kissing, but he didn't know they were things like mold! It must have been a pretty bad disease, if kissing meant mold in places that made no sense. Like the abdomen. How else could kissing lead to infections lower down?
The pup stuck his little tongue out and looked at Yaya next to him, as if saying "see, I knew kissing was gross."

Mot stared.
And stared.
And stared.
He sort of heard everyone's questions, and kind of heard Cricket try to explain everything. The drawing on the board was like some kind of weird code.
That's it. Mot was never, ever, doing anything more than holding hands ever. Kissing would involve coming near his face, so the idea of that happening was funny all on its own. Ah ha ha~

All right. This was just... Sure, West was concerned about the safety of his family now that it had been revealed that he might have killed them, but that concern was faint due to the fact that his parents had been so damn happy when they had learned he had... yeah.
He made a face.
He made a different face in response to Cricket's diagram. What did all of that even mean? It was a shame she hadn't mentioned Protection charms. If West had known a couple of those things might solve most of his problems, he wouldn't have felt quite as uneasy.

Danny stared wide eyed at Roch. "Wait Roch, you have a father?"
Yes, she really did just say that.
Her attention was once again captured by Cricket at the front of the classroom though. The "stupid" comment was thrown around Danny so much that she was pretty much used to it, but she didn't expect it to come from a teacher. She decided to just shut her mouth, not really sure why Cricket was so angry with her. Students were sleeping with each other? That was kind of cute. Danny thought back to her offer to Moure about being his supposed roomate. Somehow, it didn't seem that bad to sleep with someone. It would be nice and warm too!
Now she was scribbling on the front of the board. Danny studiously copied down the notes, none of which she understood. Her thoughts went something like this:
WHAT. ... WHAT?
She got the first one at least. Safe fear equaled safe baby. That made sense. After that? Danny just started drawing hearts on her paper. And a guitar. And a heart shaped guitar! Her parents wondered why she never passed her classes.
Yup, Danny had checked out. Cricket couldn't notice anything like that from halfway across the room, right? Danny spotted another glowing bug and put it on her desk. Now she had two! She contented herself just sitting there petting the bugs.

Cricket looked to the confused faces of the class, massaged her forehead, then at the board. To her it seemed all so simple. Perhaps things had simply started on such a terse note because everybody was talking and nobody was listening.
Yes.
Nobody was listening, that much Cricket had deemed, and she made another face with her back turned to the class. Then she seemed to glance off to one side, as though looking at something nobody else could see.
Hmmmmmmm.....
"I think I will have to carry on this discussion to.. another day." she way she spoke the words 'another day' implied she'd be ending class in the very near future. With that, she set the piece of chalk down and turned to look at the students, evaluating them all.
Hmmmmmm....
"I would have liked to have spoken of the real issue of what my lecture was to be about today, but instead I found myself answering.... stupid..questions...." She frowned again, displeased. "Which simply means one thing;
I expect you all to look into the answer to what..." she looked to Levi in particular, "'Mating' is, so we are all on the same page. Then I want you all to think of at least one way to prevent cross contamination of FEAR.
Before next time." she seemed more terse than she usually was.
"Because I didn't get to touch on even 3/4ths of the things I would have liked to (((Because my author has a short attention span and when it is derailed it goes WHEEEE!! ))) in this little.... 'talk'." There was a strange twitch to her features when Danny pet one of the glowing insects, as though she could feel it.
She said nothing about it.
"And here I would have liked to have..introduced you all to a few things. No matter.
I will have something better next time I see you all."
... .....
If that meant she had a summer break to prepare things, this was going to be bad.
"Though I will say for those of you who return to this class again with the assignment done, I may award something extra."
With that, she waved one hand.
"Go. I'm sure many of you are still confused, but it will be come clear."
For now, she'd let them stew in terror. The OOC This is Pach wrapping up this class! It went way off track of what I was hoping to do and now I need to rework a few things and start up a new thread! Oh snaps! I'll be getting out poor pumpkins to people who still are waiting on them, and it may be as Y2ers your students return to Cricket's lectures, which is why she may be rewarding summer break homework of an easy-ish variety! OH SNAPS! She promises to draw better diagrams next time. :V Maybe.

This teacher was terrifying. Thankfully, the class was wrapped up. Mot had no questions, though he also had no answers. He already knew what sex was. He wasn't a sheltered bumpkin. The mold thing was new though.
For now, the befuddled reaper got up from his desk, since class was over, and left the classroom carefully as not to disturb the bugs.
Would he even bother returning for another class? Who knows. He din't even wave goodbye to his friends.

Malodore continued to watch in utter fascination, its hand flying across the page as it wrote down everything, sketched every diagram. Absolutely fascinating, and a concept that had barely been touched on in its youth. It knew the plague doctors of its Casa did use FEAR-healing, but the techniques were not known to those below a certain level - a level Malodore had not reached prior to its departure.
And, of course, it was certain those moldering lessons could never been as excellent as Cricket's.
When she concluded, it remained in its seat for a moment, then stood and bowed in Nurse Cricket's direction. "Grazie, Infermiera," it said, quietly, then padded out of the room, taking care not to step on anything on the way out. The knowledge it had just absorbed floated golden and precious in its mind.

FINALLY CLASS WAS DONE PRAISE JACK.
Danny did not like this "class" business. It was terribly boring, super long, and you had to sit. Like the WHOLE time.
Still, her guitar drawing had turned out rather splendidly, and she had made friends with two little bugs! Danny was already packed up (she had brought two pieces of paper and a pencil with her to class, it was hard to pack) and out the door, when Cricket brought down the hammer of teacher justice.
Homework.
The bane of Danny's existence. It wasn't that she couldn't do it- she wasn't bad at doing simple worksheets and what not. It was the sitting. And sitting. And NOT MOVING. It killed her, homework absolutely killed her. She would have to find someone to do it with, or she would never get it done. Danny's ears perked at mention of the reward though. Maybe she would give out something shiny? Then again, Cricket looked annoyed enough to hand out slaps to the face.
Mating. Okay, Danny could handle this. You just went to the pumpkin patch and asked for a pumpkin, right? But ... Cricket had said it didn't work that way. Then how did it work? Needless to say, Danny was already on it. She would figure out this mating business if it killed her.
Danny thanked Cricket (it was more of a "thankyouokaybyeteach") as she ran out the door, eager to go back to goofing off and having fun.
