What on earth am I meant to do! In this crowded place there is only you!

Special followed silently behind Ace the whole way, occasionally looking back and feeling guilty for leaving the others behind. The journey seemed long and it became more difficult as they entered the woods. On several occasions, Special considered offering Ace help in navigating some of the more difficult terrain, but figured that her aid would not be welcome. After some time, they reached what Special assumed was the entrance to Ace's home: a giant steel door. As Ace gave her warning, Special acknowledged it with a nod and did what Ace said, turning her back to the door, shutting her eyes, and covering her ears. She hummed a simple melody that she had no recollection of learning, but she let it drone through her head and drown out all other sounds. Special then just waited patiently for whatever was supposed to happen.

Ace didn't even glace at the numberpad, letting muscle memory key in the code. It was easier this way, not having to stop and think about it.
"Name and business?" A heavily synthesized version of her own voice asked. Every time she heard it she wanted to snap back, 'You know very damn well who.' But it had been one of his homing touches, so she kept it.
"Doctor General Alice Cassandra Evermoore and guest requesting entrance."
"Welcome, Alice."
God, she hated that voice. Maybe she would change it after all.
Tapping Special on the heel with her cane, Ace proceeded through the opening door into the main room.
...Perhaps she should have cleaned more often. Things, micellanious, often broken things lay scattered around, stacked in various piles. Once this had been a pristine and suitable foyer, but now it was storage for her ever-growing collection of works-in-progress. But there wasn't much she could do. She was a surgeon not an engineer.
Grunting her disapproval, she toed a broken communicator back into it's pile and proceeded to the armchair, her spot. As an after thought she called back to Special,
"If you can find a place sit, if not clear one. I'll have T.A.A.I. make some tea. TAAI!! GREEN TEA, NO LEMON!!!"
Several beeps and whirring noises from the adjacent kitchen, let her know that the robot had registered the orders. Normally, Ace would brew it herself but she had more important things to do.

As Ace tapped her heel, Special twirled around and opened her eyes. Removing her hands from covering her ears, she glanced around, wondering what it was that she wasn't supposed to have seen or heard. Ace's home was cluttered with all kinds of things. Special examined the piles for anything valuable, but she mentally slapped herself for doing so. Getting caught stealing was not the best first impression. Doing her best to keep her hands from snatching up any shiny trinkets, Special made her way towards a worn chair covered with small mechanical bits. Raking the parts off onto a pile on the floor, Special sat down on the chair. She let her eyes focus on an empty spot on the floor and tried to keep her hands from twitching. It was surprising how easy bad habits returned. What had all started out as a means to survive, stealing whatever she could from her robotic captors, had developed into a serious condition. She had practically robbed the other slaves blind back at the slave camp, even though they had very little to begin with. Of course, she would return the items later after her bout of kleptomania had ended, but she would always come back to take those items again. Special's hand twitched again and she feared that Ace would notice.

Ace watched Special closely, trying to figure out the best way to proceed. What she needed now was more of an interrogation but the medic that still lived somewhere deep down in the recesses of mind quieted her and noted the twitch in Special's hands and took it for a sign of nerveousness. Tea, small talk and then business.
Ace's lip twitched as she surpressed a grimance, thinking of all the wasted time. Every second they wasted the robots were becoming more and more advanced, the giant one Special had defeated was a prime example.
As T.A.I.I.'s head (really a glorified hovering platter) with two steaming cups. It went to serve Special first, as it was programed, but Ace snatched her cup as it was passing by unbeknownest to the machine. Once small victory for the human element, she thought wryly as she took a sip.
"So how did you end up on that battlefeild?" Ace asked Special.
Might as well start somewhere.

Special eyed T.A.I.I. with suspicion. This may have been Ace's creation, but it was still a robot and she had built up a strong distaste for them. Snatching the cup of tea off of the robot's head quickly, as though touching the robot itself would cause her harm, Special placed it down on a small end table that happened to be mixed in with the nearby clutter. As Ace asked her question, Special snapped, "I could ask you the same." Realizing just how rude that sounded, she quickly added, "As for me, the people living in that monolith freed me from the robot slave camp I've been imprisoned in for a decade. They took me there, along with my new friend Emma, who was the girl on fire and apparently possessed by a demon. I have no idea how the robots found us or actually arrived at that location." Special winced slightly at herself as she finished speaking. Her voice had been so emotionless as she spoke of the slave camp. Had the experience hardened her so much that she could just speak so calmly about it? Special knew that she should have at least felt some emotion; grief, fear, anger, anything; but she felt so unattached to the whole thing. Special brought her attention back to Ace. Deep thinking only caused her to question or doubt herself and that was something she didn't need.

(sorry, I've been gone for a while, and I've found it's getting harder to find time to be online. sad But I am back! smile )

Victor looked all around to find...nothing. He was in a giant, empty plane, with nothing for miles and miles. With hardly any light except for that emitted by the occassional fiery sneezes from Pete, Victor was lost...and confused.

"Say, where did you open the portal to-?" Victor started, before turning around to not find Hadore or his brother there.

"Wait, I had a rule about portals. What was it?"

Victor laughed, "Never use them even if you made them."

Victor walked around until he found a purple-hued portal.

"Wanna give this a shot, Pete? It couldn't be worse than waking up 400-500 years ahead of your time, right?"

As if to answer, a few undead and robots began tumbling through the portal, fighting.

"...Bye!" Victor yelled, turning tail and fleeing.

After muttering a few spells, he flew as far as his spell winds and shadow wings could carry him. When he finally stopped, he realized he had gone literately 20 yards away after flying around in a circle.

"Wherever we are, I don't like this place!" Victor pouted, hoping not to be seen by the fighters nearby in his exhausted state.

Glassy, artificial eyes lazily followed the small red blip as it floated steadily along through a holographic forest. The synthetic skin and mechanical muscles mimiced an expression of mild amusment perfectly. The last footage gathered from his sentry bots has been most interesting. A face he hadn't seen in quite some time had appeared. She had changed, very much so, but that fiery eye had been unmistakable. It was a shame there was only one left. He supposed the tragic battle that had torn them apart was responsible.
Such a shame. But then again it was her own fault, she had chosen the wrong side.
As the blip disappeared on the map, he wasn't surprised. He had built the underground home to withstand all sorts of waves and radiation, to prevent tracking devices from leading anyone there.
Pressing a button, he connected himself to one of his...associates on the field.
"Tiberius, gather your remaining men. And proceed to the coordinates I'm sending you."
If he had a proper stomach, something would have felt wrong in the pit of it. He held no fondness for his memories, but perhaps it would be proper if he were to vanquish them himself.

Tiberius paused in his rush towards Desirae. A red wavelength image appeared at the top of his vision in his robotic eye, signalling that he was receiving a transmission. He listened carefully to the message, trying his best to maintain focus on his current task. Tiberius grimaced as the message ended. He had been given an order to head elsewhere and Tiberius was not one to disobey his superiors. It would seem that he would have to deal with the bow-wielding woman later. Suddenly stopping his rampage, Tiberius said, "It would seem that I am needed elsewhere. We'll have to finish this another time." Giving Desirae only brief glance, Tiberius sent a signal to the robots guarding the inside of the compound. The nearby doors soon opened and two dozen guard bots flew out to deal with the intruder. Tiberius would let these robots deal with the threat while he completed his new task. Tiberius scowled as he left the area, angry that he had not finished off his target. At least the magic user had been incapacitated.

The gears in Ace's head, rusted and mismatched thought they were, began turning frantically as she listened to the story. Firstly, she had been unaware a robot slave existed near by, right under her nose! It was obviously a high-grade, important facility with all the lastest clocking and tracking devices.
Tracking devices.
Reaching into the cushion of her chair, after several seconds of digging Ace pulled out a pair of pliars.
"Open your mouth!" she commanded Special. Not waiting for compliance she crossed the space between them and pinched her nose, hoping to get a glimpse of her molars. It was the least expensive spot to implant tracking devices without the subject's notice.

"Wa the 'ell are you doin'?!?" gasped Special as Ace violated her space and stuck pliers in her mouth. She tried to push Ace away, put it was awkward with the woman digging into her mouth. She wasn't sure if it would be best to harm Ace or let her do whatever she was trying to do. Clearly it was important if she did something so unexpected and rude. Either that or she had just snapped.

"Quit yapping!" Ace barked as she tried to get a better look. Several seconds of struggling and nearly losing a finger to Special's teeth she retracted the pliars but continued her inspection. If they hadn't used the molars they probably used a near inoperable spot like near an artery or even somewhere in the brain.
Recalling all possible implant sites seemed to bring a bit of the doctor in her back out, because Ace found herself talking to Special in a much softer tone as she explained,
"I have rason to believe the robots have a tracking device on you. During you time in the camp, do you recall any medical treatment or operations?"

Special continued to squirm, that is until Ace mentioned a tracking device. She wouldn't put it past those diabolical robots to place tracking devices on all the slaves. Thinking back to her time spent in the camp, she tried to recall any opportunity the robots could have had to implant any. One thing came to mind. "The robots used to perform check-ups on us every few months to make sure we were 'properly functioning'," replied Special. "They basically just made sure we weren't about to die of some horrible disease or injury so we could keep working." in the back of our necks." Special hoped more than anything that they hadn't put it there. She'd rather have Ace pull out a molar than go digging around beneath her skin so close to her brain and spinal cord.

"Brilliant." Ace muttered, there was no doubt in her mind now that this was where the robots had implanted the device.
"Let's see then, turn around."
She would have used the x-ray in the back room, but it was on her list of things beyond repair. She would have to use it
