It had felt like a monumental effort, taking every bit of strength he had (physical and mental) to at last stand to his feet. A deep breath, another, Sheridan steadied his resolved, he had to move forward, they couldn't stay here any longer.

Light? There was no light in this wretched place, only darkness, had that familiar voice been a hallucination after all? What hope was left to them?

Wait--there, a glimmer a short distance away, faint, but clearly a ray of light. Was it real? Was it truly there? It had to be, oh god please let it be real. His steps growing quicker, he made his way to the light, reaching out, desperate to latch onto anything that might be real in this hell.

He could make out shapes, figures becoming more clear with each step. He could see them, Riley and Jericho, and another lying on the ground who's form he could not yet make out.

"Are you real?"

Riley leaned her head away when Jericho screamed, but she couldn't help but let out a laugh at the sound of it. That, THAT was the Jericho she knew and loved. She laughed sharply, leaning back to bump her head against his.

That was beautiful. She praised affectionately. If they didn't hear that.. there was no hope for them.

She heard the yells of other students, and hoped they would follow Jericho's voice. In fact, Lizzy had managed to do so already - as she burst out of the fog and launched at Jericho. Riley's arm slid away to let them have a moment, and both of hers wrapped around Malodore, pulling it up closer.

In the face of adversity, these few moments of blissful affection felt a thousand times more fulfilling than on a normal day.

A mysterious hooded figure has been watching the student's actions all this time. Out of nowhere the seemingly fade from the fog right in front of your student, grabbing them away from the others. Your student is being attacked!

The first attack would leave the dragon drained, a stinging sensation where he was cut.

[Remember that students can roll 2D8!]

SNARL!

The dragon cried out, pain tearing through his body and mind. He had let down his guard, thinking he could have a moment of relief, finding his friends (could he truly consider them friends?), only to be torn away from them again.

"You monster!"

It was a struggle to stay on his feet even as he leveled a furious gaze on the hooded figure, his tail lashing in his anger.

"Fine then, let's get this over with."

He gripped his weapon in one hand, a growing growl as the book took on a the blue hue of frozen plasma. His parents had been right, he could not always run away, and he was not going down without a fight!

The dragon leapt, bringing his book down in a two handed strike, aiming for what he hoped was the creature's head.

The small figure silently leaped away, the FEAR-imbued book barely hitting it. It swung the giant axe around effortlessly, brushing the blade against the dragon's arm. Again, it would leaving a stinging sensation, leaving him feeling drained of energy.

After the attack, the figure moved back, adopting an offensive pose, axe held firmly in both hands.

Once his roar had finished, Jericho was almost surprised he had managed to gather enough of himself to pull that off. He seemed stunned for a moment, but Riley's laughter snapped him out of that state. A smile flickered onto his face and he felt like a huge burden had been lifted off of him. Perhaps the 'toxins' this fog had instilled in his mind had been scared off with that furious roar.

Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Sheridan but the dragon soon disappeared as quickly as he came. He didn't have time to think of it as he caught sight of a flash of pink before practically being tackled to the ground.

Putting his arms around her to catch the demon, he grinned up at her and nodded.

"I really did, didn't I? And I'm glad you're alright too," He said in a much quieter voice than what he had used moments ago.

"What the hell kind of game are you playing?!"

The dragon let out a fierce growl as the blade struck him again. How could this thing hurt him with so little effort. Was it really so powerful? Did he even have any chance against it? Did any of them?

He lashed out again, this time putting his tail into the strike. Maybe if he could knock the creature off balance, maybe he'd have a chance to hit his target.

Jericho. That had to be Jericho. No one else could make a sound in quite that way. Smiling faintly, he began to jog in that direction, a grand weight seeming to be freed from his shoulders when the others started to appear out of the fog...their figures dark in contrast to the murky grey-white muck that they'd been stuck in for likely days now. "Ah Jack...you guys are all right!" Well, not all right, they all looked as though something had scared them silly, though Sharra could make a very educated guess as to just what sort of things those might have been.

Grinning, he went first for Riley, moving to give the ghoul a quick hug, though just a bit of one, so that he didn't distract from Maladore. Everyone had their priorities. It was something he hadn't considered doing before, but then again, he'd never been so absolutely thrilled to see her before. Alive and well...like this, any of them might get snatched up by their hooded enemies...never to be seen again. "Some weather we're having, eh?"

It seemed like everyone was as giddy to be reunited as he was, and Sharra cast a glance back at Aksaja, making sure he was still right behind him. None of this vanishing under his claws business again, please.

His question was met with silence as the hooded figure moved back at the attack, causing him to miss. There was but a split second pause before it swung its axe forward, the blade cutting through the fog and slicing at the boil's tail. Once that was done, it moved back again, staring at its opponent through its face, blocked by the hood... Or does it even have a face at all?

Indeed, the lightning dragon had managed to keep up this time, emerging from the gray soup just behind Sharra. Something of a grin also spread across his features upon seeing the others and he lifted a hand to wave. "Nice one, Jericho," he said to the other dragon, smiling at him. "Couldn't've done it better."

"Riley," he said then, turning that smile on the mindflayer. "Good idea with the light. Maybe we should all have 'em on in this mess." So saying, he pulled out his own flashlight and turned it on. If anyone else was still out there, more light couldn't HURT, right?

Heh. Even if it drew more Reapers, that was fine with him. Those at least, they seemed to be able to fight. Unlike these hallucinations. Nodding to the rest of those in the little group, he flashed the light around, hoping to create a tiny beacon of their own for anyone still lost.

A sharp cry, Sheridan staggered back several steps. Arggg, his tail! Searing pain tore through his body, his tail now laying limp behind him.

Damn it, now his balance was off, if he had been at a disadvantage before, he was even moreso now (was that even possible?)

Lips parted in a snarl, Sheridan threw his book at the robbed figure.

"Go back to hell!"

It was working. It was WORKING. Sharra and Aksaja appeared, and Riley couldn't have looked more pleased to see them. When Sharra bent down to hug her, one of Riley's arms released Malodore to wrap around him fiercely. Her claws clutched against the back of his shirt for a moment, keeping him from pulling away immediately.

Please stick close. She whispered to both him and Aksaja. Her voice was strong, but just a touch desperate. I won't have this happen again. Even if it means everyone has to be holding on to one another, I WON'T let this happen again.

She let the nergal boil go, and her eyes touched with amusement at his quip. Her voice returned to it's normal volume. At least it isn't snowing. She winked at Aksaja. Thank you. I should have thought of it earlier.

"I knew you could pull through! Iknewit!" She barely stopped herself from saying what she wanted to say next as she looked back down again, burying her face into his chest, hugging him tighter. She refused to look up, partially because she was still sobbing and needed the comfort, and partially because it all felt like a dream and a nightmare rolled into one - in more ways than one. Of course, it didn't help that her face was probably slowly turning the same shade as her hair.

"I'm glad you're back," She muttered, her voice muffled as she quickly added, "A-Although I'm sure everyone's glad..."

The book hit the figure with a dull thud, but there was no cry of pain, no flinching - no indication at all that it had been hit. Only silence. It pushed the book back towards its opponent by hitting it with the flat side of its axe before slicing downwards, brushing the blade against the dragon's arm before shaking its head.

It clearly wanted the dragon to try harder. It was bored.

It was then that Jericho realized Lizzy was sobbing. Patting her gently on the back, he looked up and saw Sharra and Aksaja join their growing group. This gave him hope and maybe, just maybe the others will be coming soon. Nodding to them, he grinned over at Riley and her resolve. Things... didn't seem nearly as impossible now as they did moments ago. He was wrong to have doubted himself so much.

They were right. Even if things seemed to have no hope, they couldn't stop fighting. They were bound to lose immediately if they just gave up.

"Yeah.. we're all alright," He sighed with relief while looking around. He remembered hearing Petro earlier. Surely the horse dude was going to show up soon.

He had barely the strength or will to cry out at the blade's strike, he would no longer give the creature any such satisfaction. He was tired of this, tired of this game, tired of this fog, tired of the damned island!

Eyes narrowed, his jaw set, Sheridan reclaimed his book, talons curling around it in a tightening grip. He charged, leaping into the air above the figure. He was going to shove that book down it's throat!
