Osso nodded, his gaze falling to the forest just beyond. "At least he didn't maul you or anything..." he said before looking back at her. He chuckled to himself at her last words.
Kanti Had been listening as well, and towards the cat-comment, she only laughed. "None taken."
"Kanti acts stuck-up too."
A dirty look was shot at Osso as the girl stuck out her tongue at him.

Lenore blushed slightly.
"Well...he did want to eat me the first time..." she admitted. "I had to cut him and run for it. The second time he'd gotten sick 'cause of what I did...so I helped him. Poor thing."
She squinted out towards the trees again and sighed. No way in hell was she going in there to look for him...
"I wish he'd come back, the jerk."
At Osso's words she cracked up laughing, temporary depression shattered.

"You're so mean!" Kanti said, bitterly, and Osso only laughed harder.
"Serves you...right," he said between laughs before he was able to calm himself to mere chuckles.
"You're the reason I have bruises all over me, you know."
Kanti only glared, unable to repond to that.
Seeing victory, Osso looked back at Len, remembering her comment before she had burst-up laughing. "I'm sure he'll pop-up soon...I don't think things from there," he indicated towards the forest,"forget things easily. He'll be back."

Lenore, laughing still, dared one last one look into the forest. Things from in there didn't forget, huh? Somehow, Len knew it was true. Not that it meant it bode well, such things rarely did.
"Yeah, he's probably okay," she said, dismissing the topic and turning her back on the forest. "Why you pickin' on your brother anyway, Kanti? That stick could crack someone's skull open."
She paused.
"Actually, that'd be pretty neat..."

As soon as Osso had rounded back on Kanti, his head snapped back to Len. "Heeeeeey."
Kanti giggled lightly as she shrugged, a quick glance cast at her brother before she spoke to Lenore. "Practice...I don't hit him that hard. he's just a wussy."
"You're walking on thin ice you know..." Osso shot back.

"I was just sayin'..." Len said comfortingly to Osso, before glancing over at Kanti. "Aw, come on...you shouldn't hit him. That's what humans are for," she added idly, sitting down on the rocky shore and picking up pebbles to fiddle with. She smiled up at Osso sympathetically.
"You don't hit back?" she asked, genuinely puzzled. "I figured you'd wanna learn that stuff too...I know I would."

Osso let a small sarcastic "yeah right" smirkish-smile cross his lips before he took a seat next to her, pebbles crunching under his feet and bottom as he did so.
Amber eyes looked at the other girl's, brows raised. "Oh I've tried!...Except then Momma hid my kendo stuff and didn't allow me to go to two practices.."
"You should've seen her, she turned into a blob of jelly that'd mope around on the stairs."
"Be quiet, you!"
Osso only laughed and picked up a rock, rolling it between his fingers as he thought on Len's last qestion. "I don't...and I'm not sure why. I've seriously wanted to, belieeeeeve me, but I'm not as mean as her. Though....if she had hit you on the head back there, I would've made a bruise the size of Durem-"
"Awwwwwwwwwwwwww," Kanti cooed before being quieted by a flying pebble.

Lenore laughed, finding the mental image of Kanti moping really rather funny. She nodded attentively at Osso's words, looking thoughtful. And gave a rather unfeminine snort of muffled giggles at the use of pebble-as-silencer.
"You might wanna do it some day...I wanted to take up sword stuff or fencing when I got Nevermore," she said, drawing her knees up to her chest and resting her chin on them. "I still kinda do....no fun in havin' a sword if all you can do with it is wave it around in a threatening manner."

"Ye-"
"You do!? You have a sword?! You should come to my kendo class. What they'll make you use isn't as good as a sword, but it works. You must come!" The words had gurgled out of Kanti's mouth like water from a fountain as she leaned forwards towards Lenore.
"Osso, say she can go! No, say she MUST go!" The child looked almost frantic as she then turned to look at the blonde boy.
Osso's brows were raised high beneath the hair that fell over his forehead. "Kanti, I can't make her do anything."

Lenore blinked at the sudden rush of words, then laughed.
"It does sound interesting," she said easily. "I'll think about it, Kanti."
She was thinking on it already - a chance to learn how to wield Nevermore the right way? Sounded fun...the poor thing was simply gathering dust under her bed, not being used for terrorizing the general populace as a proper pirate's sword should. Hmm...
"Maybe you guys can come over my house sometime," she said diffidently. "I can show you Nevermore and maybe you can give me pointers, Kanti."
She glanced over at Osso, grinning slightly.
"That old skull misses your mum, y'know. He liked teasing her," she said, laughing slightly.

Gold and black hands clapped at Len's words. 'Go to her house? Teach her stuff? Oh the fun!' thought Kanti. "I would love to! That sounds so fun!"
Osso nodded in agreement before turning his head a bit towards Len. For a second he was silent in thought before the memory came back to him. "Oh! Hah, I remember that skull...I think mom actually liked argueing with it, believe it or not." He chuckled.
"What skull?" Kanti asked, looking between the two.

Pleased that she'd made Kanti happy, Len fiddled with pebbles and grinned again at Osso's words.
"He is kinda fun, when he's not talking Nahuatl," she said, nodding. "Then it's impossible to win an argument with him, I never know what he's saying."
She glanced at Kanti and waved a hand around carelessly.
"Mum calls him Coatl," she said. "I call him Booger...well, I did when I was little. He's this weird jade-plated skull-thing."
She paused a moment, looking thoughtful.
"I really oughta ask Mum where she found him," she said, mostly to herself.

Kanti and Osso both laughed at the 'booger' part, though Kanti was the one who found it most amusing considering her nose was touching her knee as she laughed.
"I say that if he's speaking in another language during an arguement, then he loses," Osso commented.
"Remind that to mom then when she starts yelling at one of us," Kanti broke in between softening giggles.
Osso only smiled at that before speaking again. "If you find out where he your mom did find him, tell me, because I'm pretty sure it's been driving my mom crazy. She's bat-crazy for ancient things....talking or not."

"Then that means I've won every argument with Mum or Julian I ever had," Len said, laughing. "They start talkin' Rijani at random anyway..."
Throwing pebbles into the air and knocking them into the water with short bursts of breeze, Len nodded agreeably at Osso.
"Hell, you can borrow him if you want, all he does is sit on the bookshelf all day and act as Cole's chewtoy," she said. "He'll talk her ear off if she asks him about stuff long enough."
It'd be a welcome break from his chattering anyway - the skull had a nasty habit of acting as a screeching alarm clock when no one asked him to. Generally around two o'clock in the morning.

"I WA-" Kanti was silenced by a pebble to the nose.
"IIIII think that's a topic that we'd have to ask mom on, Kanti," he said to the girl's sour face.
Turning back to Lenore, he spoke again, "chew toy, you say? Haaaa, Ginji would probably do the same thing...plus roll him over the beach and over some cliff." He picked up another pebble and rubbed its tiny surface on his pants to clear away the sand.
"I havn't told you that I moved, right?"
