The anbu gave him report of what they discovered in the church before destroying it. The news disturbed him greatly, though they had what remained of the marker in custody so they could analyze it. He was about to leave himself when one of the genin of the group approached him. He was asking him for a promotion, they all did do a good job so he decided he would grant the resquest."Giotto Shinsetsu, I hereby promote you to the rank of chunnin. You have done our village proud. I hope I can count on you in the future."He said nodding to the newly promoted chunnin.

 Koan Uchiha ¥ Konogakure ¥ Genjutsu Specialist ¥¥ Raiton ¥ Katon ¥ ¥ Genin ¥ ¥ Ryo: 00000 ¥ AC:00008500 ¥ Chakra :470 ¥¥ Stamina :30 ¥
It seemed that Koan had arrived slightly ahead of her sensei, oh well. She already knew what his orders were so upon finding a suitable tree she began to climb it. Granted she could easily jump to the top but then it would make the training pointless effort must be expended for a gain to be achieved. Once she reached the top she sat very calmly upon the branch and slowly closed her eyes. [1/5]
After a moment she took a deep breath and began to circulate her chakra through her body. While it was a simple enough task for her to do what with her having an already advanced level of chakra control. As she did so a small purple haze formed around her frame and out of the haze came small purple butterflies. She always had a thing for them. [2/5]
She wondered how this was qualified as training though, manipulation of her chakra was a simple matter to her. Though it soon became a bit more evident as she continued to hold her chakra outside her body. The strain started off rather easy to handle though every second that ticked by it was becoming harder and harder. [3/5]
Digging a bit deeper she pushed through the strain a bit as her breathing became slightly labored. She was very good at maintaining her focus though when under strain she couldnt help but feel it start to lag. The soft breeze that permeated the air turned a bit harsher ripping her away from her meditation and threatening to knock her from her perch as she stood slowly and held onto the tree top with her left arm. [4/5]
She coudlnt help but smile though, it seemed even the very elements didnt want her to master this training. Hardening her face she stood proud as she formed a single seal with her free hand and forced her chakra as far off of her as she could. Wind would not stop her from getting the power she craved. As the purple aura turned into a purple bubble around her she continued to expand it farther and farther outward, farther than she had ever done before. Opening her eyes she marveled a bit at its size. For a genin she had a surprisingly large chakra pool. It was also more refined than most chunin as well. Then the stress of her training hit her as she fell to a knee and the magenta field collapsed into nothingness. She stayed there up in the tree, her chest heaving, for a short while trying to catch her breath before she sat down on the limb and now enjoyed the gentle breeze that just a short while ago was her hated enemy. Masahiro Hatake ‡ Konogakure ‡ ‡ Raiton ‡ Doton ‡ ‡ Jounin ‡ ¥ Ryo: 00000 ¥ AC: 00007,500 ‡ Chakra :390 ‡ Stamina :370 ‡ Walking through the very streets of Konohagakure once again was in itself a form of meditation to the Shinobi who had until recently been wandering the countryside outside of the village and all through the lands of fire. Though as he made his way through crowd after crowd of people he began to realize the importance of time and space set away from the people, away from the bustle and screeching of children. The smile that crept over his face threatened to make him laugh for a short moment, until he realized that his pupil had gotten on ahead of him. Shrugging this thought off he made his way into the forest at a fair pace, not even stopping as he walked directly into a tree, instead he let point of chakra flow through his feet and he pivoted, walking directly up the tree to it's tallest branches. Herein he settled himself and relaxed back against them, as if lounging. [1/5]
The wind blew against him, but being a man of training and repose he knew to just bend with the wind, and shortly after the breeze picked up he wrapped his ankle into the tree, performing simple handsigns to utilize the Cocoon jutsu, but instead of focusing over his entire body it wrapped over the ankle and foreleg of the man. His smile returned to him and he reached into his satchel to retrieve a notice from the days he had last been active in the village. A scrap of paper now, detailing the capture of a nin who at said time was not a rogue, but needed in questioning. The man had been a friend of his, once upon a time. As debris started to kick up around him from the leaves and cones higher in the trees flecks of white chakra could be seen deflecting them, little charges of lightning clawing out to protect their host. [2/5]"Congratulations, you've finished the first session of your meditation, but your mind is still flying faster than a hummingbird. Relax down into the branches one level below you and start again. Don't focus on anything. What you're expected to be, who you're expected to please, whatever endgames others have demanded of you, none of that matters when you are set out and in meditation." The Jounin's voice rang out from the tree behind her, still swaying in the breeze as absentmindedly as a lark. [3/5]
Though without giving her much time to respond he obviously shifted his attention once more to the scrap of paper. Staring over the intricately taken photo, the one that had taken him and two friends a week to plan, as the man never let himself be photographed willingly. That thought brought silence to his mind however, as he finally centered in on the emptiness of thought that was at times required to complete their goals as Shinobi. [4/5]
For moments he focused on the inner silence, pocketing the photo of the man and the mission details for his detainment. The absentminded smile returned to the man's face with some strain as he just saw, swaying, ever quiet, ever vigilant. He was not here to make a presence of himself. He was just a shadow, a shadow of a leaf on the wind. He opened his eyes and cast them once more to see his genin, and what state she was in. [5/5: Mission: Basic Training; Meditation Completed]

Koan listened to his words and watched his actions with a somewhat intent ear. She nodded and jumped down a few limbs and before taking a seat on a larger limb. She crossed her legs and attempted to do as he asked, to let it all go. To not focus on anything, who she has to be, who she wanted to be, her fathers plans, that was no easy task. So she tried as she might and slowed her breathing forcing her chakra from her skin causing the magenta sphere to bloom once more before she called out," Sensei can I ask you something?"

He was mildly intrigued as he inspected her, as to what she would start to question him on now. Perhaps there wasn't as much to worry about as the Hokage had believed, all he saw here so far was a young girl, scared to not fit the bill her father left for her. Still, he needed to remain in the moment. [1/5]
"You may ask, what's on your mind Miss Uchiha?" He asked her as he settled back into the branches a little more, arms branching out to grab two more limbs.
"You seem distracted, and at unease, even here in the training set before you, nothing at all like the young fiery woman I met back at the Academy, using a newly learned Jutsu that bellowed throughout the halls. Don't tell me you're schizophrenic?" He jested, prodding at her mindset for some kind of answer, still swaying with the breeze as he let his chakra become visible once more, expanding out from his body. Both of his hands were twisted into the Horse Handsign. [2/5]

Her voice softened as she spoke," I am many things and many titles though for all that I am still just Koan Uchiha. My mental status is not something you would ever be able to understand. Though my question is one that I need you to be completely honest with me." [2/5]
She was rather good at reading lies in a persons voice though she hoped her sensei would be honest with her and she wouldnt have to resort to it. " Sensei, Did the hokage assign you to me because your the best sensei for me or to keep an eye on me because of my father and the fact that he is afraid of my father and what I could become?" [3/5]

Masahiro Hatake ‡ Konogakure ‡ ‡ Raiton ‡ Doton ‡ ‡ Jounin ‡ ¥ Ryo: 00000 ¥ AC: 00007,500 ‡ Chakra :390 ‡ Stamina :370 ‡ "Intuitive aren't you, but your question is hard to answer. Both answers are valid, but neither one on it's own merit is correct. I was asked to train you because I am of calibre to train and maintain a genin of your reknown and pedigree, there are better in the eyes of the public, but the Hokage made his choice. So too did he ask me to keep watch over you because there follows you a heavy aura of your father, and the potential for things to once more turn awry." He nodded as he sway still in the breeze, eyes closed as he tried to carefully pick and choose the words he would use to convey his message to her. [3/5]
"Because of your father the risk of attack runs deep and returns to a once peaceful village, yet still you are a Uchiha and a citizen of Konohagakure, you're family to so much more than just your clan, you still seem to have a problem grasping that little fact. It's that little fact that keeps many shinobi sane. Ours is as always a delicate path, if we stray too far from it in any one direction we risk losing ourselves or losing all those we hold dear. The Hokage chose me to represent this to you because I too have been though loss, yet, because I overcame what everyone else tried to shove at me. You have a future set ahead of you that will try you at every turn, and the Elders know that the only way you'll survive them is if you learn to be strong, but to bend on the wind as well. Which is part of why I brought you here to begin your training. The breeze in the upper levels of these trees will teach you that everything you've grown up seeing as set in stone is not. You can't expect to throw a kunai at me here and expect it to hit me, you have to bend with the wind, and let your technique show it. Compensation, reaction, movement, freedom, all are things you'll learn here with me today." [4/5]
As the Hatake-sensei spoke he allowed his aura to continue growing in size and shape, the small electrical storm it represented seeming to ebb and flow, with his breath and the winds around him, as it frazzled away little pieces of leaves and debris tossed in the wind. The sphere eventually grew against hers before retracting, leaving a zone in between that for the briefest of moments seemed to share the combined styles of their training. A raw and forceful powersource, volatile and deadly, but constrained enough to know itself. This was the secondary lesson in what he had planned to teach her. His hands and body held pose as he took in a deep breath, the field expanding once more before closing in down onto himself, now just a small sphere around his frame. Koan listened to his words very attentively. While she got the truthful answer she wanted it was also the answer she didnt want to hear. Her father was still effecting her life. She couldnt help but wonder how much longer it would be before she was able to make her own name for herself that wasnt stuck around her father. Pushing such thoughts aside she stood and climbed up the tree to the top where she formed a single seal. [4/5]
Her chakra pulsed around her as she held her seal causing the magenta field to once more expand around her to its maximum which for a genin was a rather significant size. The distinct smell of lavender could be smelt across the immediate area as the wind spread it around causing her hair to dance along with it. The strain she felt before was much less now that she had gotten used to it. Once she was finished and satisfied she climbed down level with Mashi and said," Thats two down whats next sensei ?" His training was working well and she was eager to continue.

The jounin answered in gentle reply, jumping off of the tree and using quick hands to slow his fall, seeming to glide down to the ground rather than freefall the distance.
"You, my young student, have much to learn, and in short order will we learn it. But this is where I offer something to you so few have, I give you the choice of what to learn. I will not limit your studies to what I think you should learn, nor will I demand you follow anything I've set out for you any longer." Retrieving a scroll from her belt she began thumbing through the list of jutsu she wanted to learn and all the details that went with each of them. The first one up was the Kuuden [ Static ] jutsu. It was yet another sound genjutsu. It was rather simple all it involved was overloading the ears of the target with static. So she decided simply to go for it by forming a seal and sending her chakra into her ears and lo and behold all she could hear was a incredibly annoying static to which she severed the flow of chakra ending the jutsu. Once the static faded away she couldnt resist the urge to rub her ears vigorously as he hearing returned to normal. [jutsu learned]
Taking a moment to compose herself she returned once more to the scroll searching for a suitable jutsu. She quickly found the Okuyuki Katawa [ Depth Distortion ] jutsu desirable as she once more "went for it" forming a seal and bombarding her eyes with chakra as her vision instantly modified. Everything seemed closer and yet farther clearly her ability to perceive depth was completely gone as she attempted to take a step forward she stumbled a bit as he foot found the ground far sooner than she had saw. Quickly breaking the genjutsu she rubbed her eyes before taking a seat in the grass to allow herself a moment to recover. [jutsu learned]
Looking upon the list she discovered not to her surprise that majority of them were offensive yet here and there, there was a couple of defensive ones like the one she had planned to learn next. She stood up slowly brushing her hair from her face and steadied herself. Once she caught her breath she formed a single cell and watched intriguingly as her body faded away into flower petals and reformed several feet away. [jutsu learned]
Up next was another offensive jutsu the Buki Hanshoku [ Weapon Multiply ]. She pulled one of her kunai from her belt and chunked it across the small river and formed a seal as it flew. In mid flight several dozen others formed from thin air as she watched them all dug into a tree on the other side. The uses of this one were staggering. [jutsu learned]
The next jutsu she wanted to learn was one she found particularly pleasant to her in fact that both it involved butterflies and a very devious use of explosive tags. She decided for now that it would be best not use the explosives during training. Moving on she formed a single seal and small magenta butterflies peeled off of her skin and started swarming around her before fading away quickly once she released the seal. So far she had learned a total of five new jutsu and was very satisfied with her progress so far. [jutsu learned]

Masahiro Hatake ‡ Konogakure ‡ ‡ Raiton ‡ Doton ‡ ‡ Jounin ‡ ¥ Ryo: 00000 ¥ AC: 00007,500 ‡ Chakra :410 ‡ Stamina :390 ‡ Even as the girl began her descent from the tree the jounin lifted a single stone from the ground, welling the form of chakra to build around him, eyes focused towards the stone. He felt the flicker and rise of his chakra envelope the stone as he brought his left hand up towards his mouth and forced the gesture of a handsign, but as he let the item go it still fell unto the ground. His face fell into a grimace as he heard the clatter of the stone falling to the ground and he kicked it across the distance and into a nearby pond. Turning around to investigate the trees and investigating for other shinobi besides his student, he took in the solace of silence. Kneeling down once more he took up another stone and lifted it aloft, straining from his knees as he stood. [1/14]
"There was once a story, of a good man, a Samurai." He began as he looked over his shoulder to the place his student would soon be landing. "The man was a wandering samurai, who sought a life of peace after the atrocity he had witnessed. He rose his sword only ever in defense of others, though one day as he rested in a tavern, drinking sake to forget the memories of his heinous past, he was approached by an angry young samurai, who felt that he had a grudge to settle with the world. This samurai, he was an Ashigaru in his earlier years, conscripted to act as a swordsman on behalf of a shogun. So now at this point in his life he took to challenging all samurai who appeared to be born noble, and thus did he meet our wanderer." [2/14]
Once more the jounin cast the stone into the air in front of himself, touching it briefly before it fell, though again it did not arrest its momentum, only momentarily halted it as the chakra flickered through it. Fuuinjutsu was still something of an enamoring mystery to him, but it was something he was dedicated and determined to make use of. His mind cleared once more and still the story resonated against his lips, curling them into a small smirk as he turned to look at her again, kicking yet another stone over and out into the river. Something about him carried the air of frustration. [3/14]
"Our wandered did not chastise the young samurai who demanded satisfaction from him, but instead sympathized, which only angered the boy more, drawing in much more of a crowd than either could possibly want." He spoke kneeling down once more to pick up another stone, one roughly the same size as the others.
This one he picked up and tossed idly into the air a few times as he turned to inspect his student and her current practices. A smile creeping over his face as he thought of the responsibility and the trust this meant the Kage pressed into him so shortly after his return. [4/14]
"The wanderer looked to the man and only asked him to join him for a few steamed dumplings and tea, which the man rudely refused before drawing his blade. The wanderer refused to do the same, thus further infuriating and shaming the boy who attacked him. The wanderer never swung, never assaulted, and never lain a hand on the boy, to prevent himself from being the cause of the boy's woes. Only did he speak this message to him, forestalling the crowded tavern's onlookers and his assailant." Hatake-sensei continued. "If you are truly interested in combat with me, meet me tonight at the docks, we will go to the island in the middle of the great lake. There, and only there under the leaves of the sakura tree will I ever draw my sword to fight you." [5/14]
This time as Masahiro made the hand gesture he let go of the stone and it remained in the air, frozen in place as he stepped back from it, allowing it to remain hovering there. A thin smile of determination came to his lips as he watched it remain there, his eyes closing for a moment before he bent to pick up another and moved closer to the young apprentice under his wing. He placed the stone in the air once more, holding it on the palm of his hand, turned upwards, as he began to investigate it. Nodding for a brief moment as he thought of the next piece of the story he had to tell her, he ultimately led on. [6/14]
"That night both samurai traveled to the docks, under the many eyes of their witnesses from the tavern earlier for that day. They hooted and hollered as the men stepped into the boat and the wanderer took the longstaff, pushing them off from the shore and towards the island, using the paddle end of to further them across. 'Crossing swords with all, for the actions of one, is not a wise path to follow. You make enemies everywhere and allies nowhere. To yourself you seemed just, to the others you seem as ignoble as the nobles who slighted you.'" The jounin continued on, remembering when his trainer, his own sensei, had told him this story. [7/14]
"The wanderer took quite a while to travel to the island, speaking with the younger samurai of the true way of the samurai, inspecting the island they were travelling to, and noting just what resources were available there. He noticed even a hut had been assembled on this island, further setting his resolve for what he felt would have to be done. As they both came closer to arriving the young samurai withdrew his blade and moved to stand at the forefront of the boat, enjoying the breeze and the scent of the Sakura tree, plainly visible from even the shore they had departed. When the boat itself arrived to the island it dug ever slightly into the sand as the brief wave receded." Masahiro denoted as he again expended a sharp shot of chakra and his right hand forced itself through a handsign, on which he focused once more.
Yet another stone was left hovering in the air. [8/14]
"As they landed, the young man not seeking to soil his clothes in the murky waters of the lake immediately disembarked and ran up the shore a brief distance, hollering to the man to come and accept his challenge." Masahiro began as he reached down to pick up a larger stone, this one the size of his palm.
"The old man, however, looked to him with a canny grin, enjoying the sudden rush the boy had taken in his reckless enthusiasm to fight. He dug the base of the oar once more into the shoreline and now pushed off from the island, turning an eye to the boy he spoke as he adjusted the boat's heading." Hatake continued. [9/14]
"'Patience, as I have shown you,' the wanderer began 'is the very first lesson I will leave you with.' The man jested as he continued away. 'The others are those of humility in your humiliation, understanding and reason, are two items I leave you to find living on this island. But the most important gift I gave to you, not once, but twice this same day, is that of your life. Do not seek to throw it away on a petty vendetta that has bettered your place in society, nor on those who never caused you the ache. As it will only hurt you worse as your heart pays the fine.'" Masahiro forced a third handsign and left the larger stone hovering beside the second, leaning down immediately afterwards to pick up another. [10/14]
"I know, however, the words of the samurai are not the easiest to place into our own world, the shinobi lifestyle is one of contradictions, but what we do share with the noble samurai is the conviction we have sworn our kunai and sword to. This is why I tell you this story, that you may remember, come the time, that you do not have to kill every enemy who crosses your path, but that you can show them compassion, that it may in turn return to you some day. Even as we live our lives, karma will always affect and guide us in some ways, whether it is in the best or the worst of ways will be dependant on how we make our way forward in this world." He said as he began to work on larger sized stones. [11/14]
As his story wound up and he gave the girl time to let it sink in, his eyes investigating her at the water's edge as he placed a circle of stones in formation around himself, before moving through the hole left in the closing circle to place the final stone. His eyes lighting up somewhat as he reached forward and placed the last one in the air. His eyes inspecting each one for wavering signs of his diminishing or increasing mastery of the jutsu.
Still he found no fault in his work and reached forward to touch one of the rocks, his hand feeling an odd sensation as it drew in closer to the barrier he had erected around it. Perhaps in time he would be able to shrink that barrier down further, but as for now it allowed him to see that some of the stones were still moving, not held in place or time by his work. [12/14]
Yet ever still as he watched and circled around he saw that the last few of the stones were perfectly immobilized, despite their size, shape, and weights. He had managed to unravel and understand the hidden principles behind one form of the sealing jutsu. Now would come the truly hard part, getting to the brass tacks and attempting to understand even more than just this piece of artwork. His student might be able to appreciate this if she prised herself away from her current studies, and he should probably move to aid her, but if she were studying genjutsu then it would probably be a useless gesture at the moment. "I don't know if your father taught you as many other Uchiha have been taught, to kill and to never question. I don't know what your views of the world are yet, and I do not know why the things have turned out they have for both of us, but with the things I plan to teach you, I hope we together and break the vicious cycle set before us. I know I may sound idealistic and as a dreamer, but I hope it's a vision we can share someday." He said, turning back to face the stones hanging suspended in the air, releasing his handsign to allow them all to drop in time with each other, raising dust from the ground in a rather large cloud.
