... Thing is, Lowen and Sain are both better units than Wil, who is far eclipsed by Rebecca. If Wolt sucks, there's only one place for it to come from. :V

Many FE6 prepromotes are usable, but compare them with the 1st tiers you raise up.
Although, those such as Percival and Karel do stand out, still.

Nomad Rath ..Not having good results with Rath is... rare. At least, in my experience. But back to the Sue and Shin thing, I use them both. Hell, I even use Dayan despite FE6 prepromotes being horrible units. In the end, they're all good enough to handle basic enemy units. Rath is a god. A god on a HORSE. He killed FD in my last playthrough, after I hit him with Afa's Drops and started powerleveling him.

I just get annoyed when people automatically have the mentality that prepromotes suck because they're prepromotes, if they've never tried them out. I mean, even Percival will be substandard next to a raised Lance/Alan, just as Karel won't be able to be AS big of a crit machine as Rutger when you consider one should have complete supports while the other just joined your army. But they're still MORE than capable.

Echidna? ...better heroes out there, but I love the character.
Klein is okay, but I don't use him much. Same goes for Igrene.
I won't go so far as to call Percival good because other cavaliers turned paladins can be better, but yes, he's an excellent prepromote. He's no Marcus, after all.
I use Niime all the time even if i'm perfectly happy with Ray just because its nice to have a versatile dark magic user who can cast the status effect staffs and heal while Ray tanks as well as a Dark Elder can while doing some emergency healing. You'd probably expect Niime to be the powerful one, but it actually turns out this kid with only like 10 years to his life ends up better by the end of the game. Boy, time must have been a real b*****d/b***h to Niime.
I don't use Kent or Sain much. Whenever I do, Sain is less useful than Kent is. However, Lowen is a pain to use since he's a liability unless you get him supported for defense/offense and carefully levelled up. Plus, I don't like him much as a character.
Now, you may find this surprising, but I have no complaints about Rebecca. Yes, let the surprise rush over you.

Yes, Echidna. Dieck/OJ both surpass her IF they get to a high enough level (which happens fairly late in the game). But for a good portion of it, she's outdoing them both. Not to mention she starts with a B in Axes while the other two will only have an E after promoting. They can't compete in terms of axe-versatility, while she's a candidate for Armads. Very few (primary) axe users can match the speed and accuracy of Echidna.

I actually am proud of myself for getting Dieck to Armads level once on hard, but most of the time i'm just sticking it on an axe user.
I'll say this, though - Echidna's character far surpasses OJ and ties with Dieck. She's unexpectedly eccentric and naturally lovable.

That's the thing: Echidna pretty much IS an axe-user. She starts with a C in swords but a B in axes. Gonzales certainly has her beat in terms of raw strength and speed, but she's kicking his a** in accuracy. She's certainly not the automatic best candidate for Armads, but she IS up there.
And you got Dieck to Armads level? That's counterproductive, but impressive.

I wanted to see if I could. Turns out some units ended up thirsty for exp, but Dieck was such a tank I didn't regret it.

You guys praising Echidna makes me want to actually TRY using her like the time I tried using Percival for the first time. :B Y'see, before I used Percival, I had that same stigma against prepromotes. It turned out that I just hadn't used them seriously before.
And I dunno if it's just my RNGs, but Alan has a harder time hitting things without Lance's support nearby, so Percival's better with the accuracy (and he saved my skin in that Murdock chapter where all those wyverns rush you, and you either have to have axes or be deader than a doornail.)
Using Perci led me to appreciate decent prepromotes such as Louise and Hawkeye, and also really admire Pent as a Sage. <3

FE7 prepromotes are on a complete different level than FE6 prepromotes.
FE7 prepromotes (minus a few) can actually become better than your 1st tiers.

Aston Hale Elite Archer That's the problem. It Always gets to hairy Hers his stats at level 7 Str 6 Skl 6 Spd 6 Luck 3 Def 4 Res 0 5 move Con 7 Aid 6. At seven.... I think that's kinda bad. To be specific, in my game, it's not unusual for him to get a one point stat boost to just one stat per level Well at least his move rate seems normal for a lv 7 archer.

Misuki Marishima Pietro just said "Why so serious." He's now officially the Joker of FEF! D: Why of course I am partially official Mordachean joker in this guild. Oh yes, indeed I am. Course after all, joker is another term for jester. ^_____^
