"Looks like your walls aren't reinforced enough to keep out someone heading down at terminal velocity," Carlie quipped as she looked the hole up and down.
"Sorry about that. Carlie Jordan, Green Lantern. Uh... Am I in Coast City, by any chance?"

Edel grinned, but it looked as though she wanted to roll her eyes. "I'll have to get on that then. After I finish devoting my energy to everyone else." she mumbled. Then she blinked. "Coast City? Oh, no. This is New York City."
Rosie inched off the couch, staring curiously at the new girl.

"New York? How did I...?" Carlie asked in a soft voice, frowning slightly. "Okay, fine... Can you help me find my dad? Hal Jordan?" she asked.

Edel sighed. "Of course, I still have the spell going anyway. Just tou-...wait." she said, then blinked. "As in...Green Lantern Hal Jordan?" she asked. Oh...she'd have to go about this carefully then.
Rosie inched closer to the woman, staring curiously still.

"Uh, yeah. Hal Jordan, my dad... The greatest Green Lantern of all time...?" Carlie asked, her hands on her hips and a look that said: "Seriously? Are you kidding me?"

Edel just looked at her and blinked. "Oh. Of course. He's here, actually. Though I must warn you...he might not know who you are." she replied.

Carlie blinked hard at Edel's response. "Wait a minute..." she said softly. "How can he be in New York? I just saw him this morning; he was in Coast City... And... Of course he'll know me! I'm his daughter!"
This didn't make any sense. Had she really been gone that long? And was this woman nuts?

Edel hesitated. "Are you at all aware of the universal merging? If you seen your 'father' just this morning, then I'm afraid we have a lot to discuss. The Hal Jordan that is here has been here for...months." she replied. "And...he has no children. He is not even married."

"Wh-- What?!" Carlie asked in a low voice. "That... that isn't possible. He's... he's married to Carol Ferris. I'm his daughter... I-I..."
Carlie shook her head vigorously. There was no way, no way that this woman was not lying to her. She was either being lied to, or she was in a very, very bad dream. "Y-you're lying! Tell me where my father is!" she demanded, her voice cracking.

Edel frowned. Well, so much for trying to take this gently. "Your version of Jordan might be...but the one here is not. You haven't been in this world very long I take it. There is a lot that will need to be explained..." she said with a small sigh, turning away from her. "But...if you want to see the Lantern, follow me." she said as she walked out of the room.

Carlie followed, trying her hardest not to cry. "So... What's happened? A... a merge?" she asked, trying to keep her voice as steady as she could. She refused to believe the woman's words-- this had to be the Hal Jordan she knew, it had to be. How could it not be?

"Quite a few universes have been merged together. Time has been dissrupted, people have been tossed into this world from different universes and points in time..." Edel replied as she waked down the hall, then up the stairs. "Your father could be someone entirely different from this man. Or...you could just be from a later point in time. It's not uncommon in this world."
Lagging behind them was a very curious little girl.

"It's a bit of a long story." Edel replied. "A god-like being tossed various worlds and universes together into one. Some people have been here since this world "began". Others have been showing up at random. Some people have universal doubles....others are here from past and future times."Almost there....up the stairs and last door on the right. She'd better let her daughter know that the doll was needed. ~*~ ~*~ Meanwhile, in one of the many rooms of the large, ever-expanding home, a young woman with curtaining black hair sat in front of a wall-sized doll house. She stood, stretching one arm up in the air, letting a dark-skinned Green Lantern doll "fly" away from the home, and over to another large home on the other wall. There, a Black Canary doll sat at a living room table, where she slid the Lantern in. Suddenly she stopped playing, and looked back at the doorway with the one black eye that wasn't hidden behind hair. "Natalie, dear. I need the Green Lantern back." Edel's voice whispered through the room. The woman stared at the door, then down at the green and black costumed doll in front of her. "No sweetie, the one with brown hair."Natalie looked back up at the door. "Can I have another doll later?" she asked the air. "Of course. I'm bringing up someone else who would like the doll very much."The woman pouted a bit, but stood and obediently walked over to one of her other doll houses. She reached her hand into one of the living rooms, and pulled out a Green Lantern. This one with dark hair and a mask. Nope. Not this one. She tried again, and pulled out the right one this time. Cradling it as a child would a teddy bear, she carried it into the center of the room and laid it down on the ground. Then she stood back from it and leaned against one of her wall-large doll houses. A bright, golden light began shimmering behind the curtain of hair over her face, and soon the same light enveloped the doll on the floor. The doll grew to full height, the joints and crevices disappeared, and after a moment, the man sucked in a deep breath of air.

Carlie didn't respond, but simply followed Edel up to the apparent playroom. The very first thing her eyes locked onto was her father, in full Green Lantern gear like she had seen him so many times. However, she didn't see that this version of her father was about 20 or so years younger than the one she knew.
"Dad! Dad, Dad, Dad!" she said happily, running over to Hal and practically bowling him to the ground in her eagerness as she hugged him tightly.
