I have Pearl version xD I haven't gotten around to buying Platinum yet.
I'm working on Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days right now though.
♦ ♣ ♥ ♠ As much as I love Pt... And would suggest you SELL Pearl and BUY Pt... BUT, if you aren't looking to sell Pearl, skip Plat, and buy HG or SS. Also, Black and White come out in March.

I might get black and white. Are the earlier generation pokemon going to be incorporated, or is just the new ones?

You can send all your Pokemon from back then, to Black and White, but you can't send any black and white things to back then games. Black and White also changed a lot of things for Pokemon. Like, what they learn and their abilities... Essentially, it's ''a new game''. Everyone has to 'relearn' everything.
