~ Ski ~
╔═══════════════════════════════╗
At her back she could feel the level of dark intent like it was an actual entity. It was eerie and creepy...and terribly annoying! Half spinning around, Ski pin-pointed the person originating that damn aura or whatever it was. It was Shameria, who happened to be in a deadly game of stare with Heyen.

"That Incubus has to have a death wish, I swear," droned Ski to herself with a small shack of the head she was turning around and heading to the door again.

Ignoring the voices around her for the most part. And the stares; one doesn't find a hooded girl often apparently. However, Nate's words, they brought Ski to a mid-step halt. So honest and sincere they sounded...half of her wanted to stay.

Turning half way once more, Ski looked in his direction her eyes hidden in the shadow of her deep hood. Finding him surrounded by friends and a social occasion. Then Ski remembered why she was leaving.

"Social gatherings...they aren't my thing since my social skills are lousy as you know,"
she said smoothly. "I'll see you around Nate."

Turning back to the door for a moment the thief hesitated. The voice of her mother coming to her to remind her of manners; something long lost to Ski. Smirking softly she turned back.

"Thanks though...rain check maybe."

With a backwards wave, Ski was leaving the tavern and the social circle. Half-demons and friends didn't mix, she had learned, but still she was sticking around; just searching for another kick in the face. Another injury she would just have to nurture. With that, Ski was leaving the taverns and on the streets.

Shamira was really annoyed by Heyen now. With a groan she drank the rest of her drink. "I've never been one to do dares, and I'm still not one now. If you want someone to keep you warm at night I'm sure you can find some slut, there's usually a few at any time." Shamira replied coolly. She began eating her stew again, and didn't look up until she heard Nate's shout. She looked at Mitsuki with narrowed eyes, and a furrowed brow. "Mitsuki, come over to my apartment later. It looks like you haven't told me everything I've missed." she said simply. When he head was turned the chef had replaced her stew with a plate of food. She looked down at it with her eyebrows risen. "This free too?" she asked. It would seem as though her odd change of character was gone, and her usual self was back.

Mitsuki blushed when Shamira pointed out she was keeping secrets. "I hope she doesn't think I've dated anyone." she thought, embarrassed at the idea. She nodded at what Nate said. "I guess so." she said with a smile. When Nate called out to Ski she finally realised that the half demon had left. She turned back when her food was switched out, and thanked the chef with a smile.

Heyen's sly smile fell to a half one, but it wasn't like he was expecting to get Shamira. Fun and games..Fun and games..

"Yeah..but none have a body as alluring as yours." He implied, photographing her seated by squaring his thumbs and index fingers. Not long after he switched the photography work to Mitsuki.

Little by little he began to strafe, 'picturing' other girls with clicks of his tongue as Shamira spoke. "It'll be on Nate's bill."

Nate, now having turned away from the door after Ski left yelled, "What?!"

Heyen shrugged, breaking the connection of his hands to wave a hand carelessly at Nate. "Oh come on - do you really expect the ladies to pay for all this? Don't worry I'm giving you a good discount. I just need a little profit. Come on, be a lad." Heyen grinned as he leaned over the counter in front of the teacher. "It'll fit in your budget. I promise."

But Nate still felt cheated. With an angry pout and glare he stood Heyen down that last brief seconds, Nate sighed and nodded. "Fine fine.." Can't have the girls pay anyways. It'll be rude..

Shamira snorted. Of course Heyen would pin it on the spineless human to pay for the bill. "And yet he thinks that someday I'll give in. What a fool." she thought. She would of offered to pay, but her funds weren't back to where she'd like them to be yet. She smirked and looked towards Nate, "Thanks for the meal." She said, then continued to eat.

Mitsuki wasn't that surprised at Heyen's actions, and laughed at his camera routine. She smiled broadly at Nate, and spoke after Shamira, "Thanks Nate, maybe I'll make it up to you." she said with a wink, and then a laugh. She continued to eat her food, and soon finished it. She stood up, then brushed herself off. She smiled at Heyen, Nate, and Shamira. "Well I'm going to sign up for the competition, and do some shopping." She looked at Heyen again with a smaller smile and eyes a bit lit by mischief. "Heyen, you wouldn't mind watching Misora for the day, would you? I'll be back by dark, I just need to go now or else I might miss the stores and sign up." she asked.

Nate only smiled half-heartedly at Mitsuki. He tried to make it less rude but it didn't work.

"I can watch her." Heyen acknowledged with a nod, clasping both of his hands together so he could rest his chin on the back of his hands. "Just be careful out there. It'll be night soon." With a nod he gestured towards the window. Dusk beamed in through the thick curtains, nightfall being not too far if not already.

Pulled from his thoughts Nate turned to look at Mitsuki, and he was about to speak until Heyen spoke.

"So, Nate - you registering?" The Incubus asked.

"Me?" Nate asked, though the question was obviously on him. "Well, no. You know that I don't fight and unlike you or Mitsuki I'm not skilled in combat nor do I have any powers. My blasters are only...useful for when I have to use them. Blasting at some random target would only leave me vulnerable. What of you?"

Heyen shrugged, and grinned. "As much as I would love to get in a love fight with Shamira and Mitsuki I think that my charms would only leave me to win by default." The Incubus smiled and leaned close to the already seemingly agitated Shamira. "You wouldn't punch a face like mine, would you?"

Shamira ignored Heyen's closeness and continued to eat her food. "Do you really want to test that Heyen?" she asked simply. Mitsuki spoke up then, mostly to try to avoid a fight. "Well, I may come back a bit later then. Thanks Heyen, Misora should be waking up soon. I'll see you in an hour or so." she said, the walked out the door to the weaponry.

Shamira nodded at Mitsuki's leaving, and continued to eat. "I wonder what all I've missed..." she thought.

Heyen only smiled and pulled away from Shamira when Mitsuki spoke. Her intentions were already known to him. The fight would have been pointless anyways.

"Alright. Leave her in my hands, Love." Heyen saluted, turning once again back to Shamira as she ate. "You haven't missed a thing..other than a couple of nightly problems nothing really has changed."

"Speak for yourself.." Nate grumbled. "The school was destroyed, and as much as I disliked having to come up with things to set up for my kids it was always fun to learn about them."

"Uh-huh..that's great and all." Heyen ignored, waving a hand dismissively at Nate. "So, Shamira..what have you been up to?"

Shamira's eyes got wide when Nate said the school was destroyed. Ignoring Heyen and his off handed behavior shamira turned to Nate and stopped eating. "The school was destroyed? Nightly problems? Don't tell me the hell's gate is weakening again. Or is it some other damned thing?" Shamira asked, with a bit of anger, annoyance, and shock in her voice.
Just then, Misora came out of her room, eyes already starting to well with tears. "Th- the school wa-was de-destroyed?" she asked in between sobs, trying to keep the tears and loud wailing back. She had heard it all. She couldn't remember what had happened before, and didn't want to learn. Her hair was sticking at odd angles, and she looked around in vain for Mitsuki. "Wh-where is Mitsuki?" she asked, and sniffed.

Heyen and Nate turned to Shamira as she questioned them, and while Heyen looked away and walked away with an innocent hum. Nate was about to speak until he heard Misora's familiar voice and he turned to look at her with sympathy. Letting his food grow cold he stood up and walked over to the little nymph.

"I..don't really know. I was sick in bed during that time but I was informed about night watches and about the school's destruction. Repair would normally be a priority but for it said that it won't be running until they think it's all.." Kneeling in front of Misora Nate smiled at her and combed her hair as best as he could. Unfortunately he was never the hair stylist. "And your sister's out. She said that she would be back soon."

"HEY!" Heyen yelled from across the room, his superior speed once more to display as he stopped dead short beside both Misora and Heyen in a heartbeat. "I was in charge of Misora." Heyen boasted. "So..now.." Kneeling beside both Misora and Nate, Heyen placed a hand on the girl's hair and ruffled Nate's work. "It was just inconvient acts of nature, Misora. Lighting struck at the roof and totalled not only the senior students dorm but the junior's. But for safety precautions the school is deemed closed."

Nate turned to Heyen, blinking. I doubt he believes that but I never bothered to question to ask if he knows who really did it. The teacher puzzled. Ski was the cause but for as for as his intellience took him only he and Ski knew that, and none of them would be willing to put the blame on her. At least he wouldn't.

Misora sniffed as she listened to Nate's words. It made her feel a little better, but not much. "Why won't they fix the school?" she thought sadly, another tear rolling down her cheek. She didn't trust herself enough to speak, afraid she'd start wailing. She sniffed when Heyen approached and managed a smile smile at his boast. "I guess he's happy Mitsuki actually trusted him." she thought, trying to cheer herself up. She smiled hearing that it was only the weather "I guess Dark was telling the truth" she thought, smiling more.

Shamira listened to both Nate and Heyen's explanations. I wonder how much of that is true. From Nate's expression it looks like he knows more. I guess its better to stay quiet than to scare Misora even more though, poor child." Shamira thought. She smiled once she saw that Heyen had made her smile. "Maybe I am being a bit harsh on the guy. He does have his moments." she thought.

Although Misora was unresponsive her smile made him feel secure and told him he did a good job. Much to his own relief and banged at his chest with a victorious fist and wiped away the trail of tears from Misora's cheeks."Now come now, do you want anything to eat?You thirsty or something?" He asked her, pulling her away from Nate and sitting the nymph on his shoulder as he carried her and sat her on the counter.

Nate, feeling insulted, just stood up without much of an expression on his face. He felt shunned, but only because of Heyen. But it didn't bother him too much. He moved to sit a seat away from Shamira.

"So how was your trip anyways, Shamira?" He asked, diverting the subject and trying to learn from Shamira's travels as well. "How's the village?"

Misora giggled as Heyen lifted her to his shoulders. She nodded at his question, though from above his head he couldn't see her. "Yes, please Heyen." she said with a smile after he gently sat her on the counter. She glanced over at Nate and Shamira when she heard Nate mention Shamira's trip.

Shamira took another bite of food after hearing Nate's inquiry, and swallowed it. "It was ok. The weather was a bit more wet than usual, and there was a few complications from the weather, besides that though it was fine." she said, then ate another bite, starting to scrape the last bit from the sides of the bowl. "As for the village, its as fine as usual. Turns out I didn't miss much more besides one of the young women having a girl, I wish I would of been there because," she smiled fondly, pausing for a moment, "She named it Shamira. I helped her and her husband build their house, and the potion I made them helped with her conception, so she decided to give me that honor. Everyone was happy to see me, and sad to see me go." she said, a bit sadly now, and sighed, then resumed eating her stew.

Misora's eyes popped when she heard a child had been named after Shamira. "Wow! They must all really like you there!" she said excited, then calmed down, and a look of perplexity came across her face. "But, Shamira, if you like it there so much and they like you, why do you leave?"

Shamira sighed at Misora's question, and was quiet for a moment, before eventually looking over at Misora. There was a great look of emotion in her eyes, mixtures of hate and sadness, love and anger. "Other people who don't live here tend to be less kind to those who are different Misora. I'm different, and because of what others of my kind has done I'm classified as one of them. If I stayed It would only bring them pain," she said, then a look of complete sadness consumed her face as she continued softly, "And that's the last thing I want." Shamira let out a long, heavy sigh, "How lucky she is not to know of the hate of the outside world. Though she could never understand."

"Yo, Chef!" Heyen called as he moved to the kitchen. They weren't used to so many calls from him, especially since they had their own dishes to make and clean. Him asking for personal favors did drive them mad but he was their boss. Like it or not they'd listen. After all he was fair enough to them as he was to the rest of the group.

Nate himself listened to Shamira's journey. Like Misora he was equally surprised to hear a child named after her. Given her personality and short temper he was in a bit of shock. But when her sadness was clear in her face he had to rethink things; she did have her moments. Maybe only when she had a bottle of liquor in her hand. But he didn't want to tell her that.

"So the world out there is still the same." He added with sad sympathy, resting a cheek on an open palm as he called a waiter for a refill of lemonade and an small steak.

Nate's been in Sanctum not that long of a time but being here always made him think and wonder if by some chance the world outside had changed. Wishful thinking. "Well, I guess not every place can be perfect. Even Sanctum has it's flaws."

"Misora." A waiter called, holding a tray in her hand as the worker looked around. It took him a while to find her but when he did he smiled and put down a bowl of soup with some vegetables added into it, a side of ranch and chips to boot. "Here you go. Enjoy." He smiled turning to Shamira and Nate. "You two want anything?"

Nate shook his head, "I already placed an order. But thanks."

Shamira shrugged as Misora dug into her food. "Actually I'm not sure. The only reason trouble followed me is because of my mother and other magical people that can see through my disguises.." Shamira sighed, looking down at her food for a moment. She looked back at Nate as she started to talk again. "You know what an Aswang is, don't you?" Her voice was soft, but it was a stupid question. Sure, they weren't the most well known creatures, but he was a teacher. Surely he'd heard of them. It was one of the only things she was ashamed of. An ironic cruelty of nature, or twisted joke of whatever was up there in the sky. She was an aswang that didn't eat the unborn- no, she helped them conceive and live! How much her mother would of laughed....

About a minute after Shamira had asked the question Mitsuki burst in. User Image
"Sorry I was gone so long. It was a longer trip than I remember, and there a was crowd. The mall's been attacked, and closed." she said once she got to the bar. She blinked a few times, finally noticing Misora. "Good evening Misora. Finally decided to get up?" Mitsuki said with a smile.

"An Aswang.." Nate repeated with surprise and mild curiosity. He didn't know Shamira's actual blood and he always thought her of some common kind of demon but an Aswang was one last of his list. Given their badly-made reputation it made Shamira look like she had some dark secrets in her past. It also made him curious; and he wasn't sure if he should be afraid. With his glass of refilled lemonade he took a drink before answering.

"I know of them." He replied gently, still thinking. "It's actually..surprising. I mean, not that I'm going to start to crucify you and report you to the SSDD but..aren't Aswang..usually..kind of evil?" He hadn't want to hesitate but recalling her previous display of power he had little to feel secure about. But she did say that her village named a baby after her so obviously she didn't eat the baby..he wondered if those parents knew of her.

Afraid of her answer he was glad to hear Mitsuki come in, but the educative side of him grew upset knowing that the subject might change. Sure Nate was somewhat of a coward when it came to things like this but he had his reasons: he couldn't fight! He turned towards the half-elf.

"..That's news to me. When did that happen? Last night..I don't remember hearing anything.." Then again it was in the other side from where they were.
