Vergil's eyes lit up. "Is he little, like me?" he asked eagerly. "Can we play together? Maybe we can even hunt together!" He took out his little sword and pointed it up in the air. "Watch out demons!" he laughed. "I have a new partner!"

Vergil was briefly disappointed, but then he was confused again. "But if he used to be my size, then his children must have also been my size once ... so wouldn't they have things my size, rather than needing other people to make things for me?" he questioned. "Or was that such a long time ago that it would all be gone now?"

Vergil grinned, happy to hear that. It was nice to know that he didn't always have to be such a burden. He liked being independent, and having to ask so many people for things bothered him.

"Can we go now then?" he asked eagerly.

Vergil grinned. "Cool."

It was a bit out of place coming from him, but he was after all still a child - in body, at least, even if his mind was old enough to be adult.

As they passed Shael and Adonai's house, Vergil climbed up to sit on Cindy's shoulder, looking behind them at the house.

"That's our house, right?" he asked, looking back at Cindy. "I think so because it's the only one that's big like that, right?"

Indeed, other than the ranch house, Adonai and Shael's house was the only one with more than one floor - though the ran house had four.

Vergil turned around in Cindy's arms and looked forward once more, and right away he saw the large house that they were approaching. "Hey, that's a nice place, too," he grinned. "Is that where Celebor lives?"

With the flowers that were growing all along the front of the house, and the rose bushes at each corner, it was quite pretty indeed.

It was Ruque who answered the door, his blond hair pulled back as it always seemed to be, and there were smudges of soot on his face and fingers as if he had been working near or over a fire.

"Oh, hi Cindy," he beamed. "Come on in. Who's this with you?"

He stepped to one side to let Cindy and Vergil in, and closed the door behind them.

Ruque couldn't help but laugh. "Yet another of the famous Winters adoptions," he grinned. "Well, I can't speak for the others, but I think I have some of my old clothes, if that's what you mean. But if you talk to Mama, I know she would love to help you out with anything you need. She loves that kind of stuff."

He looked at her sidewise. "Unless you were meaning something different ..."
