While combing through the remains of a destroyed building Kai found a hand sticking out from under a big slab of concrete. He turned toward Yamato and yelled, "I think there's someone under here, come help me move this."

Working together Kai and Yamatano were able to move the slab of rock, but when Kaizen saw who it was he froze. There laying on the ground in front of him were the mangled corpses of his parents. Kai fell to his knees, too shocked to make a noise. Silent tears began to fall down his cheeks as he crawled over to the body of his father. His hand shaking, Kai reached for his fathers face, as if hoping it weren't real, that it was just an illusion. When his fingers brushed along his father's cold skin, Kai let out a cry of anguish as he buried his face in his father's chest. Tears streamed down his face, his sorrow so intense it threatened to choke him.

He looked up to his mother and shuffled over to her, placing his hands behind her head and shoulders and propping her up so he could hold her. "Mother... mother! Wake up, MOTHER!!!", he cried, refusing to believe the harsh reality of what had happened. He placed his forehead on hers as he gasped for air, his breathing becoming unsteady. Pain and sorrow clawed at his insides, threatening to tear him apart. He just continued to kneel there, his face buried in his mother's hair as tears flowed freely from his eyes.

"I wish... I wish that I had seen it... I wish I had gotten to watch while the Mizukage killed that beast", Kai said, lifting his face slightly. Looking over his shoulder at Yamatano, his tear-stained face was contorted in rage, his bloodshot eyes burned. "I wish I had seen it suffer in its final moments of life."

LT walked forward and sat down next to Kai, he put his arm around the boy. He pulled Yamatano down to sit next to Kai as well. "I have served with your father before Kai. You know of this. You will go through a slow and terrible stages of grief. But let this be a lesson to you, this is the path of a Shinobi. Now you know, this is what could happen if no one stands and fights to defend each other. This is the price to pay so that more will live...."
"Kai do you know why your father fought...? It was for the same reason that i fight too."

LT sighed as he patted the boys shoulder again and he looked to the sky as it started to rain. "It is for the future...." Rain began to sprinkle the ground and made the fires hiss and steam. LT's three headbands blew in the wind. "We fight for the future of the mist. We fight for the next generation of shinobi and hope they would learn to care and live peacefully by the teachings of us, as we learn from the great shinobi who taught us."

"Have you ever heard of the Leaf Village? Those are some very noble and powerful shinobi. Some of them live by a code almost. It is called the Will of Fire. The Will of Fire (火の意志, "Hi no Ishi") is an ideal, and the life philosophy the First Hokage lived by and held, which has since been passed on to many ninja from Konohagakure as a part of their spiritual heritage. The 'Will of Fire' states that every true Leaf shinobi must love, believe, cherish and fight for the village's sake, as many previous generations had done before them. I believe the "Will of Fire" is what gives the shinobi the strength to continuing fighting against all odds, building willpower and strength of character. It is also symbolic of the hopes and dreams of the previous generation passed to the next, for example when my sensei was killed, his hopes and dreams was passed to me and my other squad mates, who would in turn pass it on to my children and students."

LT's three headbands again blew in the wind. Their activity captured LT's attention reminding him of another point he wanted to bring up. "You see these three headbands?" LT pointed to the one he wore on his head, one on his arm, and the one tied around his belt. "These two headbands did not always belong to me, they were my original squad. They one i graduated the academy with. When they passed away, i promised that their dreams, their beliefs would become mine. And i will make and protect the future of the Mist for as long as i shall live."

The villagers and shinobi found all they could, there was no one else left to be rescued. The funeral will come in time. Although there was much debris to move, and much to rebuilt, that would take several days, there fore there was not much to do besides rebuilt. But thats not what LT's squad needed right now, because of their losses and because of Kai's new situation. It would be best if they went some where to train as a unit, and build bonds, Kai would need it. "Kai, get your squad mates and meet me at the beach." LT stood up and put a handed on Kai's head. "I promise i will make you stronger, if you promise to protect, not to destroy." With that LT turned and left for the beach.

Kai looked after LT slightly confused by what he said, "destroy?" He shook his head and got some other shinobi to help him move his parents bodies. Tears still streamed down his face, but he had managed to regain at least some of his composure. Once that was finished he found Yamatano and Kanzuki and told them both to meet LT and himself at the beach. After telling them he went ahead and moved towards the beach, he preferred to walk by himself for a moment so that he could clear his head.
