Sara tried to pull the slash at the last second unsure of the Hellspawn's reaction to something behind her. But even with her great strength she couldn't halt the blade. It sheared through the General's armor as if it were paper. Sara whipped her sword about in a small fast spin that sent most of the blood onto the wall beside her rather than sit on her blade. She turned quickly afterward sure something even worse behind her but was surprised to find Erik. ------- Azael nodded to Alcorve. "I am sorry, but even time may not heal this." She said numbly. At those words she started to lag behind Alcorve before she whipped herself into a light jog to grow even with him again. She walked at his pace now with a steely glint in her eye.

Erik smiled. "Surprised to see me? Don't be. Notice how the flames have died down." Erik spoke as he walked over to the General's body and stabbed it with his sword.

Sara nodded dumbly, mouth agape. "Where did you, I mean to ah say how did you get here?" She asked sword up before her, she didn't know if these hellspawn could take the forms of others. "What did you get from the fort?" She asked to ensure it was indeed Erik.

"We have a newly built area within the city for the village." Alcorve turned to one of the guards that stood watch over the gate. "You know where it is, show them to the area. I have other business I must attend to for a bit." The guard nodded and walked to the villagers, and showed them where their new living quarters where for now. "Markis, I'd like to talk to you alone for a while if possible." Alcorve watched the group, as they started to slowly walk once more. "And bring the Samurai my guards knocked out as well." He started to walk off towards a large building to the north.
Markis nodded, and had a few people carry the unconscious samurai with them to Alcorve's headquarters.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many things where on Varnis' mind. What was with those bandits? Why where they chasing the samurai? Is Sara ok? But the main thing that did bother him, was the symbol they wore over the symbol of the nations. He shook his head as they walked on towards the village's new home.
Reaching their new home, the villagers where relived that they could rest once more knowing the city walls could keep out danger. Their new living area was like the rest of the city, except it had a few trees around, and in it. Not many trees where able to grow in this area though.
Varnis had looked about their new home. Chatting with the villagers, seeing how they liked the new home. Some really hated this place, but most preferred to live here. Walking over to his new living quarters, he yawned, and started to open the door. Varnis... "Who's there?" He looked about, but saw no one. I've waited a long time to see you... "Who are you, show your self!" Come to me... Open the door... Against his better judgment, he opened the door, and saw a man standing in the door way. He wore red robes, lined with gold trim. His face could not be seen from the hood he wore. The bottom of the robe looked as if it was being consumed by flames.
"Who are you?" No response. "Who are you!" Varnis demanded once more, yet no response again. The man slowly walked closer to him. Varnis back up into the street. Anyone that was able to see, just stared at the two unable to do anything. Do not be afraid... After all, I am your father... The pendent Varnis wore started to burn. Its been far too long. Come with me, and we can end this war, and you can rule... Everything slowly became faded. "No... You're not my father, Markis is!" He's lied to you all your life... His vision became darker. "No, hes never lied to me." The burning became worse, and Varnis fell to his knees. His chest hurt, the pain was unbearable. Something was wrong, but he couldn't do anything about it. His vision became dark, and fell to the ground, all of his strength was gone, and the man vanished. Come to the bell tower, and learn the truth...
"Be at ease. I am who I say I am. I took the sword of a long dead warrior, which has the power to ignite in the hands of the worthy." Erik removed his blade from the General. The soul should have been given eternal rest by now.
Sara smiled happily. "Well, how are we leaving this place?" She asked wanting to leave as soon as possible. She sheathed her sword and waited for Erik to do whatver he had done to get here, except this time taking her with him. ------- Azael gasped in surprise at a man he had another hooded man following him closely and he was obviously in some kind of pain. He had been in the entourage with Alcorve but she hadn't met him. Despite her intitial reaction she stood rooted in place her sword swirling in her hand until the second man disappeared. She willed it to solidify and cast her eye's about warily looking for the other man. The village had managed to get to the cities defenses, but it didn't seem a city was enough. She began a determined pace toward the man who lay on the ground.
"How do we leave? We could follow the trail of bloody bodies to the gate that the Hellspawn so graciously opened for me, not realizing I'm way more powerful then they are." Erik walked on, leaving Sara to wonder how Erik had eliminated an army.
Mia was saying her goodbyes to the villages, that thanked her for helping protect them. A little girl walked up to her, "Are we going to see you again Mia?" Mia looked down at the little girl and smiled, she bent down to their level. "Of course you will, I just need to warn my village about the danger, make sure they are ok, and ready for an attack. She stood up, "after that I will be back to help Varnis and the others." Mia then went to look for Varnis, to tell him she was leaving. When she rounded the corner, she saw Varnis lying on the ground. "Varnis!" Mia ran over to Varnis, she turned him on his back and listened for breathing, when she could tell he was breathing she leaned him against the wall. Mia spotted a red pendent around Varnis's neck, its glowing drew her in, but her attention was drawn away when the traveler that they saw earlier was walking towards them. "Hey did you see what just happened here?"
Varnis moaned a bit when he was moved by Mia. His eyes still closed, and breathing shallow. The smell of burnt flesh came from his chest as the pendents started to slowly cool.
Markis sat across from Alcorve with the Samurai lying on the table off to the side. Two of the guards stood watch over the Samurai, and the other watched off of the balcony.
Puling out a piece of paper, Markis handed it to Alcorve. "What do you make of this? I found it on a body of the ones who chased him." He looked at the Samurai, then back to Alcorve.
Unfolding it, Alcorve stared at it for a while. "Its in an ancient language. I can decipher it with a few of the books here..." Standing up, he walked over to the book shelves, and started to browse them.
"Ancient? I had thought that no one knew how to speak that anymore." Markis watched Alcorve as he browsed the books. "If what Erik says is true, and if it is true ancient then..." He sighed. "We could be in more trouble than we can handle." He watched as Alcorve sat back down in the chair with a few books.
He browsed the books for a bit, not able to find any information about the note. "The writing is in ancient, but it makes no sense... Almost as if its..." He paused for a second. "No... It cant be." His hands trembled, and he almost fell from his chair. "Those bandits... I remember... They had pentagrams on the armor they wore..." He started flipping through another book. Its spine was a dark blue, and its cover, as dark as the nights sky. Stopping mid way, he shook his head. "This note is not ancient... Its Sharie... The language of the Doomsayers." Alcorve looked at the note, and back to the book trying to decipher it's message.
"Bring us the magic of an Erraee ((Err-Ra-E)), and we shall summon the Gods, and the Devils of this realm to do our bidding."
"So... He wasn't one of them... But being chased by them..." Markis looked at the Samurai. "First this war... And the news of Demons... And now this..." Sighing, he leaned back in the chair. "Everyone who is near Varnis, or this man is in danger if they are after an Erraee... We should keep a close eye on the two."
(I guess Sara can absorb fire, and maybe manipulate it in some way. Azael can definetly manipulate water, her sword is made of it after all.)
Sara accepted what he said without saying anything. She didn't care what he did or how he got here, as long as he took her with him when he left. She followed closely behind Erik, wary of any dangers around them. --------- Azael nodded at the woman, before she noticed the wings. She gasped and nearly fell over backwards before she blushed. "I'm sorry for my reaction, it was... unexpected. But I did see what happened, a man was here before. He stumbled out and the other man talked to him before he dissapeared. She leaned against the wall close by the man and woman, eye's always shifting from person to person. Her scan continued constantly.
"The Hellspawn seem to have a great interest in you, Sara. Would you care to share why?" Erik wanted to know what secrets Sara held.
Mia stood up, with some concern in her eyes. "Well I am going to have to report this to Markis, before I go to my village." The look in her eyes changed to normal when she looked at Azael. "Your reaction didn't surprise me, you should have seen all the looks I got when I entered the city. Even when I met Varnis and the others, I got strange looks. It isn't very surprising, because people below the mountains haven't seen people from my village for more then a hundred years. Mia looked down at Varnis, and back up at Azael. "Hey I think I can trust you to watch Varnis, while I go get the others." Mia walked quickly to where the others were, but looked back once with concern.
Sara looked at Erik with a steely gaze. "I'm not sure it's that their interested, more the wrong place at the wrong time." She told him as she went over the bare handed fight with the hellspawn before it brought her to here. "And you as well must be a great interest, able to kill them forever, in a base of theirs, and obviously capable of just about anything." She retorted back. --------- Azael bowed her head. She held her sword ready and stood watch over Varnis. It was an advantage she didn't know anyone so she was suscpicious OF everyone. She watched the incoming flood of refugees closely, waiting for Mia to return.
Mia asked a soldier where Markis was and they pointed to a house at the conner. She entered the room that Markis was in, everyone looked at her and seemed afraid. She tried not to notice, "Markis, Varnis is passed out! The traveler that we ran into when we entered the city saw what had happened. She told me that a man in a cloak was talking to him, and when the man disappeared Varnis passed out. I checked to see if he was breathing, and laid him against a wall. He seems ok, but he is passed out." Mia started to walk out of the room, "please follow me, I will take you to him." Mia walked quickly to where Varnis was, she was still worried.
(I am going to be in Arizona from the 25th until January 3rd, for Christmas. I might be on if my dad lets me use his computer, but I will not be on very much. Please try to continue without me.)
((Ok. Thanks for the info.))
Markis looked at Mia as she ran into the room. Listening to what she had said, he told Alcorve to watch the Samurai. As she had left, he followed her to where Varnis now is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Varnis stirred a bit as Mia had left to get Markis. Slowly, his eyes started to open as he raised his hand over his eyes to shield them from the sun. Looking about, he watched as people walked past him, and Azeal who was now standing over him. "The bell tower..." He whispered quietly as he looked up a tall building that was to his left.
