roller-chick361 I only really claim to be a Wiccan with my friends, since any of them that are also Wiccans are in the same boat I am. Have you and your other friend perhaps though about starting your own coven? Also, some solitary Wiccans choose to do a self-dedication.There are many Wiccans say you HAVE to be part of a coven to call yourself a Wiccan, but many are okay with solitary witches who do self-dedications. Especially in an area where there is not a coven to join.

We have a sticky thread detailing the word "Wicca" and how it is used within this guild. You can start your own coven, which is fine, but it wouldn't be a Wiccan coven. You do have to be in a coven in order to be a Wiccan, but it's not the being in a coven in a general sense that makes it so: it's the mysteries and secrets imparted through initiation into a Wiccan coven that does the trick. The sticky should answer any questions you may have. ^_^

But I mean if they could find a High Priestess to initiated and train them, starting there own Wiccan coven would be very possible, right? I will definitely go read the stick right away so I know what the guild rule say about the use of the word (I had never even heard the word Seeker until tonight in fact). And sorry if my posting takes a while, my internet is wacking out =P

Reading the sticky will answer a lot of the basic questions- but the short answer is it isn't possible because of what Wicca is.

But I mean if they could find a High Priestess to initiated and train them, starting there own Wiccan coven would be very possible, right? If you're initiated to the second degree, you can form your own coven under the supervision of the parent coven. If you're third degree, you can form your own autonomous coven. Quote: I will definitely go read the stick right away so I know what the guild rule say about the use of the word (I had never even heard the word Seeker until tonight in fact). Thank you ^_^ There's a lot of misleading info out there about Wicca, to the point that it's easier to find stuff erroneously using the word "Wicca" than stuff actually about Wicca. Much of what is termed "Wicca" is more properly different forms of Eclectic Neo-Paganism, or in some cases, separate Neo-Pagan witchcraft religions in their own right, like Cunningham's Standing Stone or even Buckland's Seax.

Esiris Granny Earth Sorry, but I'll have to disagree on this one. I know Ms. Conway personally, and she has the best info concerning the Celtic people and their faith. I think I know of a few anthropologists who have better info on the Celts, especially the Gael. Conway even had to publish a new book as an apology to the Celtic pagans- Fire In the Head. There is a lot of stuff she published in that book that doesn't make it past the most basic of cultural understandings in an introduction to the different branches of the Celts. She may be a nice person, but she isn't an expert on the Celts. You mentioned you were Wiccan- may I ask which tradition? 'Nuff said about Ms. Conway, please. About my tradition, the closest I can come to explaining how I do is Garderian. My gods vary, but my Goddess is almost always Gaia. My beliefs are Earth based, in other words, I don't see Mother in the moon. She's all around me in the ground, the trees, the oceans. I can touch Her and feel Her presence all around me.

Sanguina Cruenta CalledTheRaven Granny Earth What do you like to be called: Granny, since I'm 57 years old. ...As time goes by I'll tell you more about your Granny. I'm sorry but I'm gonna have some trouble with that, considering my dad is older than you and my mom not much younger. Also, I consider family ties and those friendships that are as close as family to be very important and using a title that implies such a relationship (calling yourself my/our Granny) with someone I don't even know in an internet sense is not something I'll be doing. Indeed... I already have a granny. And Granny as a title earned, as in "Weatherwax", is not something I'm likely to use unless one is Esme herself. Granny Earth was a name I was given by my coven members. Whether or not you chose to call me that is not of any concern. It is, however, also my Gaian name and so you can call me that as a name and not a title. I have never met so many stuck up people in my life. This guild is more a battle of who knows more that a group of pagans who just want to hang out together. If you want me to leave, just say the word.

If you want me to leave, just say the word. I don't really think people here are stuck up- I just think that some of the things you've said haven't taken into account how other people might feel about it. User name or otherwise- my Grams means a lot to me and I don't associate what I call her with other people at all- so it was kind of a big assumption to be asked to be called that for me- and it seems like for a lot of other people too. You're not being kicked out or banned, but if you do something people dislike- they'll let you know. Being passive aggressive or silent about it isn't healthy- you know? I think a person of your maturity can understand that, right? I am still curious as to which tradition of Wicca you were initiated into though. I'm a Seeker myself- so I like to ask a lot of questions.

There's a chance she was initiated Gard, then left and changed religions. *Shrugs* I don't know so I figured I wouldn't guess.
