Awen was floating lazily on her back in hte river. She had been practicing for the majority of the time she's been wake for her off island swim. She knew she told Rex and Avery she would do it very soon, she was starting to get self concious about the amount of time she was taking, but she had to be ready. She had to make sure she could swim all that way without something going wrong. She just needed a bit more practice.

But she was tired and relatively sore for the amount of hard swimming she had been doing, so she simply floated on her back kicking her feet slowly to propell her back towards the village. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

She hadn't gotten around to ordering a bathing suit yet, mainly because the intercom still hadn't had any responce. Awen instead wore the jeans-cut-to-shorts and green shirt she wore during the passed few months. She had washed it at least, and cut the ripped bottom of the shirt so Jamal's claw marks weren't there anymore. Needless to say that left....very little to the imagination at the moment.

Having successfully avoided Antony, Billy soon found the ocean give way to river, watching the sand change to dirt and rocks as he explored away from the beach. Stupid woman, spoiling his fun. Ah well, it was a large island. He hadn't gone far befor he spotted a girl swimming, and his mouth twisted into his usual grin. It was the girl he had met the other day. Brilliant. "HOY!" He called, "Don' drown, Lass!"

Happy to have a camera again, Joliette wandered into the jungle towards the river, camera strap over her neck, and pocketted vest holding lots of film and lenses. She was tweaking the dials pausing now and then to take a photo, and then she heard a voice and looked up, a new person, or least someone she'd never met, and most certainly not changed... Drown? she peered through her lens to the river.. Awen, nah she wouldn't drown.. She altered her path and headed towards where the pair were

She tilted her head from her spot on the river and she grinned a little bit. "No chance of that stranger! Gills and every thing." She hoped by now the guy had understood about the island. With all the progressed islanders around how could he not? At least he couldn't steal her water this time. No, this was her domain this place was all hers.

She didn't see Joli at all. From her position she could barely see the skeasy guy, let alone the quiet photographer.

"Gills, eh? So yer a fish?" He squatted on the bank, looking down at her with a mischeivious look. "Or a mermaid?" Hell, he'd let these people believe what ever they wanted to. At times like this, he often would believe he himself was changing. One night he was *convinced* he was turning into a lamp, afterall. It was only after the dishwashing detergant had worn off that they could have convinced him otherwise, and all they had been able to do to keep his fingers from any elecrtical outlet.

"She's turning into a manta ray" Joliette said quietly in her own thick accent as she came up behind the scruffy looking male "Hello Awen" she says pausing to one side of the male, she wondered just how long hte man had been on the isle. She set a dial on the new camera and observed them both.

Awen opened her mouth to answer, but blinked when the words came out in a thick british accent. That definately was not her voice. She let a grin slip to her lips as she saw Joli appear beside the strange man. "Yeah what she said manta ray and all." She swam over to the bank but stayed in the water, at least now she was standing on the ground under the water. "Hey Joliette."

"So you've come to terms with Moreau's experiments? That was fast of ya."

"Oooh, so it aint jes' yanks on th'island, eh?" He beamed at her, "I was startin' t'get scared," He turned his attentions towards the new comer. She was small and young... but then again, he liked them small and young and tender, didn't he? Although her complexion left a lot to be desired. Ah well, he was still having fun. He swaggered towards her, shifitng in and out of view in her lens.

Joliette snapped a photo and then lowered the camera "Glad to see you are well Awen" she replies with a smile and then looked towards the taller man "No there are others here besides 'yanks' as you put it" Her forked yellow tongue flicked as she finished her words, interesting swagger, it only made her curious what his story was, Lily's words had started her journalistic wheels turning and they'd yet to stop

Awen nodded up to Joli. "You too. I couldn't find you and Chubbs after you guys left camp that one time. I dunno I guess our group kind of failed. Glad you see you're alright though! Lauren's fine too...incase you're wondering."

She crossed her arms a little bit. "Hey, who are you calling a yank?" Assuming of course that meant yankee, which to her mean a citizine of the USA. "I'm Canadian, not American thank you very much." She stuck her tongue out at the two then chuckled a little bit. How childish.... But she didn't care she was in quite the good mood. Swimming did that for her these days.

"So th'two o' ye are friends, then?" Billy growled, pulling the camera out of Joli's hands to pull her closer by the strap, "Play t'gether, do ye?"

"I saw David a few days ago, he's good, and I'm glad to hear Lauren is too" She says to Awen sounding glad for the news just before he takes hold of her camera. "Oy! Let go" she said firmly in annoyance her hand taking hold of the wrist of the hand holding her new camera her eyes narrowed, she didn't like how he was pulling her

Awen frowned and immideately stepped from the water. "Hey let go of her." She didn't like this at all. What did he think he was doing to Joliette? And hey that was a new camera wasn't it... her old one hadn;t been in good shape last Awen heard.

So hastling her friend and damaging new equipment like that? Heck no! "What do ya think you're doing man?"

He chuckled harder at the game, pulling it off of her neck completely as he heald it up high, turning his back on her, "Wha' sor' o' camera is it? I've been known t'be a bi' o' a photographer meself, y'know! This is th'button tha' takes th'pictures, aye?" He jogged backward, snapping photos of her enraged expression.

Joliette's claws dragged roughly biting into the flesh of his wrist as his hand moved furhter away from her, Her expression is NOT impressed at all.. Words not in her frame of mind having ony just got that camera, his arms in the air to keep it out of her reach, he left himself open and she decided to take advantage of that. Situations like these were why her parents insisted she take martial arts right through to black. Angry, he aims her fist at his gut

Awen frowned this was not going good and she couldn't know what to do about it. If This guy took off she sure as heck couldn't keep up and....oh... never mind. Joliette seems to be able to take care of it as Awen has that partly scaled and clawed fist heading for his gut. Angry Jolieete would be scarey, even for a short thing like her. Angry Joliette with the vicious Awen-eating lizard look in her eye.... terrifying.

"This is not going to end well..." She mumbled under her breath.

She stepped a little bit away and moved around the man as Joliette had him there. She'd just hang back and..block the way to the village. If Joliette went too far, the manta would step in. But... she'd just stop the skease for now.

"Just give the camera back man" It was more for his own good she thought, than anything.

"Ach! Soddin' b***h!" He snarled, his wrist stinging as the force of the blow made the camera drop from his hands to the muddy, stoney bank with a heartwrenching crack and he staggered backward. "I was jes' playin'!"

"I do not take taking someone elses brand new property as playing when they told you to stop. I just got that camera if it's toast, I will be even angrier then I am now" she steps towards the camera and scoops up her equipment looking it over her tongue flicking angrily as she brushes the mud off

"Gormless plonker!" she says angily when her eyes light upon the broken lens on the front of the camera. She looks at him the anger that can accompany the Komodo behind her eyes as she stares at him

Awen frowned a little bit but didn't move from her path between the two and the village. She knew that look in her eye and Awen didn't like it too much. She moved forward a put a hand on the guy's shoulder. "Shouldn't haven taken it though... islanders tend to be a little volitile when they're changing...." She muttered in his ear.

She looked back over to Joli. "Now.... it's okay Joli. The film's alright, right? I'm sure the Doc won't mind getting you a new one if anything's broken.... It's alright Joli... he was just playing around... he didn't mean anything by it." Glancing back to the man she added. "But it still wasn't very nice."

"Wha's this crap abou' changin'?? Everyone's blatherin' on an' it's mad!" He snarled, pulling away from the two young women, his face flushed as he gripped his wounded wrist.

"Moreau is changing us all ... we are all prisoners here, and we are all his lab experiments for lack of a better word. Every single one of us, including you, Is being changed into an animal." she tells him bluntly

She loops the camera over her head again "As for the film..." she shakes her head and looks at Awen with a much softer expression "I'll have to open the camera in the darkroom and what not, I've got more lenses, I'll change it"

Awen nodded a little bit at Joli's explaination of the film. She hoped it was fine, and it probably should be. It was odd though, to hear Joli explain the same thing Awen only months before Awen tried to hammer into the photographer's brain the hard way.

She looked to the man's wrist and frowned. "That looks nasty..... I have a first aid kit in my duplex... We could help fix that..."

"Bloody hell," He grunted, "She's go' some fingernails on' tha' gel!" He spat in Joli's direction rudely, grimacing as he felt the blood get sticky under his hand, "Fine, fine, lead away, lass."

"Claws, not nails, I'm being turned into a Komodo Dragon, these are just the first stage" she wiggles her fingers towards him and then looks at Awen, she said we, Joli intended to follow

"Eh..heh right then." She smile and put a hand on the greasy man's arm to turn him toward the village. "Um.... good to just keep pressure on it. It doesn't look..er..too bad." She glanced back over her shoulder to make sure Joli would come too. This guy was hurt sure, but he still creeped Awen out terribly.

"I don't know your name yet either. I'm Awen Zyn, that back there is Joliette."

"William. Friends call me Billy," He answered gruffly, "Well, Miss *Joliette*," The name sounded peculiar strained in his brogue, "Aught t'keep a better handle on her temper. Or someone'll get hurt." At that, he gave a sharp laugh.

"Three people have gotten hurt by me, and all of them for doing something against me, I can, and will defend myself, I may be short... but I'm not helpless" she says following closely behing Awen, she wasn't liking hte idea of leaving Awen alone with him in Awen's unit, so she was glad Awen seemed to want her to follow

To Awen's Duplex

Awen was glad to see the front of her duplex. The tension walking with the two of them was thick and she didn't like it. When she got to number twenty one she walked right it. She gestured Billy towards the bathroom. "Right in there."

"Joli, make yourself at home eh? Got a fresh restocking of skittles in the nightstand, oh and my PSP if you want to play some?"

She flicked on the light of the bathroom and opened the first aide cabinate firmly attached to the wall. She started grabbing brandages and things setting them on the counter top.

He took a seat on the closed toilette, lips pursed as he watched her move about in silence. Changes, changes, all this talk about changes, and the look of these two was enough to kill his high. Despite the oddities, though, the young woman was rather attractive. He watched her strange body move under her clothing, unable to hide the growing smirk that had crawled across his face.

Joliette put her camera on Awen's table and sat next to it, "I'm good for snacks, thanks" she says with the normal tone she would use with Awen, she didn't take up the psp offer either as she had no idea how to play it, and she didn't have the right dexterity for it.

She watched the scene unfolding in the bathroom as Awen moved to patch up the cuts her own claws had made

Awen was blissfully unaware of the man's thoughts and evil of his smirk as she concentrated on getting everything right. "Alright well if ya need anything..." She called out to Joli. She had offered video games to Amaya too, she kept forgetting other people's hands were being distorted. Awen's hands, though webbed, were perfectly normal.

She filled the sink with water and grabbed a cloth. She started to clean off the excess blood from around hte wound first, soon the stinging would come as she disinfected the cut and finally bandaged it up.

"It'd be a wonder if tha' lass has been laid wit' a temper li' her's. Think she's still a virgin?" He snickered conversationally befor hissing at the disinfectant. Once he was bandaged, he flexed his arm, looking over Awen's work critically.

Part of Joliette wanted Awen to pour more disinfectant on to sting more, but she didn't vocallize this as she stood up and walked closer Her 'temper' was perfectly fine in check when people weren't doing something against her

"Erm..." She didn't want to really talk about her friend's sex life. Mainly because Billy wasn't being very nice about it, and Joli was right there. She simply cleared her throat a little bit.

"So how is it? I could make it tighter...?"

"Ach, no, s'fine," He assured her with a wicked grin, standing to stride past Joli towards the door, "Well, I can see I'm no' wanted here."

Joli reached and took hold the strap as he moved to go past her, she was not going to take further chances around him. Her eyes watched his movement but she said nothing

"Oh well..." She looked between the two and sighed. She honestly didn't mind the man all that much. "If you ever want to drop by sometime just give me a knock alright?"

She followed him to the door and opened it. "Sorry about all this, I hope your hand gets better soon."

He grinned widely, leaning in to speak hotly against her, "Perhaps sometime... so we coul' be... alone?" At that, he gave a wicked snicker befor turning to stalk off towards his own duplex, not giving Joli so much as a second glance.

Joliette rolls her eyes as he leaves and then looks to Awen "Thats one grotty bugger" she says once he's gone, her tone had returned to her normal self, her 'anger' well in check and not a risk factor

Awen blinked at Billy's comment and then sighed. He wasn't getting along with Joli... probably just wanted to make sure Awen wasn't with Joli next time. Can't really blame the guy she took a good chunk out of it. She shut the door and turned back to Joli.

"If you say so." She shrugged a little bit and moved back to the bathroom to put the stuff back into the cuboard.

"Aye I do... how have you been since the power went back on?" she asks quietly watching Awen cross back to the bathroom and clean up

"Oh you know.... better." She grinned a littel bit. "A little uncomfy at night. Been sleeping in the tub...."

She stode back to the main room and stretched a little. "But it's good to be home, ya know?"

"I do.. as well as having food to eat without having to ... hunt it... I was talking with Lily yesterday... have you met her yet?" Joli asks curiously. She wondered still about the woman's words...

"Lily?" Awen paused and sat down at her table. She had to think about that one. It sounded familiar...but... blinking slowly and nodded. "Redish browny hair? About...yey high?" She indicated with her hand. "Saw her in the jungle once..."

"Thats the one... She said something that got my journalistic brain wondering, we were talking about the lockout, she said there were too many staff to have gotten them all out... My mind wonders, just how does she know how many work here, I've never seen more then half dozen or so personally, I haven't actually heard of anyone knowing just how many..." Joliette tapped her chin

"Well just think about it Joli." Awen tapped her fingers againt the table softly. "It's a big island. A huge facility. You didn't think it was just the cafeteria ladies, Sabin Moreau and Audrey did you? Of course Moreau has to have a huge staff for this place. It's just..well logical."

"Possible, Emelyn says the mansion is oppulant to the point of arrogance, like spending money dictates rank... he strikes he as someone who may have more then he needs, I guess we'll never know... but I dunno, she seemed almost nervous, ... Oh well, I suppose if theres anything we need to know we'll find it out" She shrugs "Who knows..."

"Well...hey..there's not anything wrong with...living it up sometimes... I mean.. He had to start somewhere. Despite everything... He had to start somewhere and probably worked hard for all this anyway. And even if he didnt I mena..just because he has money....." She was really flustered now. "I thought we were talking about staff members!"

She laughs "We were, I dunno, anyways... I guess it's just the journalist in me that gets me thinking" she shakes her head "I didn't mean to confuse ya"

"Yeah confuse....." Awen laughed a little bit and scratched her neck a littel bit. "Well... hey if ya find out anything yaa can talk to me um.. Sorry and all."

She shrugged a little bit and gave a goofy grin.

Joliette nods "Theres a few people here I trust to talk to, and you are one of them" she picks at one of her claws "Oh hey... sorry if what happened by the river earlier bothered you... " she knew very well the last time she'd had any animalistic instincts show up had been around Awen in the jungle weeks before

She shook her head. "No no Joli. Not bother at all." She chuckled. "I understand though, he was being a jerk. You had every right..."

"The request I put in was actually filled with no tricks that I could see, I suppose I can be thankful I brought a selection of my own lenses when I came, hopefully thats all that broke, seems to be at least... " she smiled "Thanks... for your words of support too"

"Hey, it's what I do." She smiled brightly in return but slowly stood up. "But um.. I think I'm gonna have a little time, play some of my PSP and all...er...yeah."

"Yeah I should go see how much of the film is wrecked if any,..." she too stood "Talk to you later?" she asks as she picks up the camera

"Sounds good to me. Bring Chubbs by sometime too, I miss the guy." She moved to the door and opened it. "See ya Joli."

Joliette nods and wanders out the door "Yeah I will talk to him and haul him over" she waves and heads out heading towards the boarded up duplex

Awen leaned against her doorframe and sighed softly. She would never see Chubbs come by and the manta knew it all too well. She was going to leave. She had to before Avery and Rex changed.

Awen had no way of knowing she was too late on one of the accounts. Nor would she care. Her main focus is getting to mainland and shutting down Moreau once and for all. She moved into her room and grabbed the wallet from her purse. She took out any of the precious photos and thigns that would be damaged by the water. She didn't have room in her pockets for the wallet so she just would carry it until she got to the beach. Then she would stick it in her pants and go into the ocean.... And leave this god foresaken island.

Joliette Rigiel
She'd fixed the camera, replaced the lens with another of her collection, cleaned hte body and reloaded new film, and now she stood at the bottom of hte stairs of the darkroom intending to go photograph the ocean and it's view, something she missed doing dearly. Her yellow tongue fickered and she tucked hte new laptop into the shoulder bag and stretched

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs tried his best to sneak up on the small Joliette, he had a wicked smile on his face as he tried to tip toe quickly. He figured with her new senses he had to be quick to sneak up on her. He reached out his arms to grab her around her middle and give her a big hug. He wanted to hear her laugh, someone laugh, so he might feel happier than he was.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette jumped startled, she had in fact been very much in tune with her new equipment then what was going on around her "what the" she turned her head quick her tongue flickering as she did, amd her tenseness melted away to a smile "David you scared me" she says with a smile and she looked up at him

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs gave her a small hug, and put her down slowly, loosing his smile some. He didn't want to show that there was anything wrong. For long he'd been a stable point for others and to fumble now would bring down alot of people with him.

" Mind if I scoot along with ya? Trying to get a bit more exercise in"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette turned and smiled up at him "Course love, I was going to the beach, the labs replaced my camera, and laptop, it got destroyed while we were locked out" she reaches for his hand with hers

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs held onto her hand, holding it somewhat tightly and ran his thumb across it. He still felt it was the softest thing in the world to him, continuing to rub it softly. He shuffled onto the wand with his bare feet and looked to the beach and the sand below. He was quiet the whole time.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette trudged along towards the beach with him "Awen said we should go see her at some point..." Her tongue flickered the breeze off the ocean reaching her ... She hated the scent of the wsalt water that reached her via her tongue. She looks onto the beach as she reaches the sand "David... whats that?" she asks hoping her eyes were playing tricks on her seeing a form further down the beach at hte water's edge

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded a bit, he wasn't really listening all that much, he'd been thinking so much lately and that's what was bringing him down. The statement finally registered and he looked to Joliette.

" Yeah, that'll be good, haven't seen her since the camp"

Chubbs stretched a bit and blinked at Joliette as she asked what it was she was weeing. Chubbs tried to follow her line of sight to see what it was. It took him a moment, there was something on the beach near the water. He couldn't tell from where he was.

" Not a clue hun"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette squinted "It looks like a person.. Oh god David what if it's someone else to get caught here" she said thinking the worst, that it was yet another person to get trapped "Come on.. we have to go see" she lets go of his hand to hold her camera tighter and picked up speed hurrying as fast as her heavy feet would carry her across the same

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs wondered what she was on about, did she mean someone washed up? Great deal crap they landed into then hey, from the frying pan into hell. Chubbs ran to keep up with Joliette, she was a bit faster than he was but he tried. Getting closer now it certainly looked like a person.... kinda.

Joliette Rigiel
Once close she has a much better look who it is... "David ... oh god it's not anyone new it's Awen!" she looked over her shoulder at him before stopping near and dropping onto her knees trying to sort out what was going on

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs heard one name and sprinted, he huffed heavily as he skidded on his knee's to pull up beside Joliette. Chubb's head just ran into panic and overdrive, trying to remember waht to do. Did she dive onto a rock or something? He didn't see anything that suggested he couldn't move her and so he rolled her onto her back to see what was wrong.

Awen Zyn
Awen didn't have much to respond with. She was breathing, thankfully enough, she had ejected enough of the water from her lungs and stuff from her stomach out further. However the breathing was shallow and she looked even paler than usual.

A small noise escaped her lips but it was barely heard let alone understood, even by the hightened senses of the islanders. Nothing else came from the poor manta.

Aubrey Lockheart
The sound of an all-terrain Jeep could be heard just moments later. Speeding down the beach as a very peeved looking Aubrey Lockheart. She was wearing casual clothes, a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. However, most notably was her neck. On one side a long bandge, on the other a smaller patch over one area. The skin on the throat was red and blotchy - a recently injury beginning to form a bruise.

She pulled up close to the group, spraying sand as the Jeep came to a halt. She jumped out, carrying an emergency kit. "Get away from her!" Aubrey bellowed at Chubbs and Joli, sounding furious and glaring at them as if they had done her a personal grievance. "Back away from her now of I will put you both down so help me..."

Joliette Rigiel
Joli had already experienced the sleep command and seriously had no desire to repeat it, her expression was likely one of shock considering the last time she'd seen this woman she'd been standing or sitting silently with the Git when she first arrived....

She stood, hands just holding her camera as she backed up and then sat down several feet away "Come on David" she says softly to him

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blinked at hearing an engine, a jeep? what the heck. Seeing a woman pull up in it, was confusing even more. If it had of been Sabin, Chubbs would have evicerated him by now. Was this a lab staff? it was somewhat confirmed when she yelled at them to get away, and threatened them while pulling out a med kit. Chubbs didn't move, not an inch, and just stared at the woman. Every hybrid fibre in his body just wanted to break her face but h held on and just looked down out Awen.

" No... do what you have to, she needs help and I'm not going"

Aubrey Lockheart
"And just how the ******** do you think you're going to help her, you lug?" Aubrey snapped, motioning the emergency kit. "Do you even a clue what the hell is wrong with her? Why she's like how she is? She's not out of the woods just because she's breathing, its more serious than that? So I suggest you move right now or not only will you be waking up god knows where, you might have Ms. Zyn's death on your shoulders."

The woman did not look like she was in the mood for bullshit as she narrowed her eyes at the man.

Joliette Rigiel
"David, love please... " Joliette asked from where she sat, she felt she was far enough away, she could watch, but not be in the way, she really hoped her friend was ok. Crossing paths with a staff member here seemed to tend to be a bad idea, she didn't want to see David fall to those three horrible words

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs visably went pinkish, his tuffs of fur and hair grew pink like in colour as he stared up and through the woman. His ears flattened back and he stopped breathing all together. A flush of warmth hit his body and all he heard was the beat.

Ga-thump
Ga-thump
Ga-thump

Chubbs stared at Aubery as he got to his feet, he heard nothing else but her heartbeat in his ears and saw nothing else but her flesh in his eyes. Chubbs tilted on a knifes edge, and as if the remaining sanity of Chubbs tugged at his mind, he took a step back from Awen.

Aubrey Lockheart
Aubrey gave a curt nod, the closest to a 'thank you' he was going to get.

She reached Awen and pulled out the resuscitator to make sure she was getting several good lungfuls of oxygen until her breathing returned to normal.

"Just be still," she said quietly to Awen, brushing her hair out of her face. It was almost frigtening how fast her attitude when to b***h to motherly.

She pulled out a penlight and checked her pupil dialation, took her blood pressure, and temperature. She did it quickly as she could and still be effective, looking up every few minutes to make sure the others kept their distance.

Convinced Awen was stable enough to get to her Duplex, Aubrey put away her kit and then attempted to lift Awen off the sand and into the Jeep.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette didn't move away from where she was sitting, but she did take few photos, some of the ocean, a few of Aubrey and Awen, and some of David, "She'll... be ok?" Joliette asks from her spot when it looked like Aubrey was about to move her friend

Awen Zyn
Awen, who hadn't been very responsive to date, groaned slightly at the point that Aubrey shone the light in her eyes. She had heard the quiet tone and felt the comforting hand brush away the still wet strands. Something Awen hadn't felt in a long time surfaced in her. The feeling of being with her mother again, she was dazed by the encounter with the ocean and wouldn't have been surprise had she...not made it. So... that's why Awen's mom was around.

When the manta was hauled to her feet she tried to stand too but her legs gave way almost the second pressure was applied. She opened her mouth trying to speak but couldn't form words. Instead she coughed some more.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs wanted to rend something, especially Aubery. Awen came into his few and he sniffed. She was looking at least alive and somehow, that wassuddenly all that mattered. He walked up to Aubery as she tried to get Awen to the jeep. a fist balled tight out of his right hand. He reached out with clwaed finger to turn Aubery to face him. But she was not met with a fist in the face, but two arms that took Awen from her. He nodded to Aubery to continue to the jeep as he made his way there himself.

" I said I'd help... even if I'm a lug"

With that he settled Awen gently into the jeep and made sure she was comfortable and secure.

Aubrey Lockheart
Aubrey glowered at Chubbs as he touched, opening her mouth to get the command words out, but then he took Awen...and Aubrey forced herself to hold off...at least until Awen was secure.

"She'll be fine," Aurbey said to Joli. "She just needs some rest and lots of fluids."

She didn't say anything to Chubbs, but as the MOMENT Awen was buckled into the Jeep, Aubrey peeled off towards the village.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette watched and once hte jeep took off she stood up and walked to David's side "I wonder what happened" she says quietly and then looks up at him

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs watched the jeep speed off and head off down the beach. It was official, he hated both staff members he had met so far and wouldn't think twice about hurting them. It still scared him that he wanted to be so violent, he finally took a long breath and looked to the ground and shook his head.

" I don't know, not like we'll ever know till Awen gets back anyway"

Joliette Rigiel
"Well that whole event was a mood spoiler..." she turns to face him wrapping her arms best she could around him "Something bothering you love?"

Likely unnoticed by Joliette, and stashed under the bottoms of the bushes in front of her duplex are a few small ziplock baggies with a strange white powder in them.

Only the edges protrude from beneath the bases of the hedges.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs just frowned some, trying his best to hide it. He wasn't feeling himself, nothing of himself as of late, it both scared and annoyed him. He was giving up on the inside, completely losing the Chubbs he thought he once was.

He slipped his arms around Joliette and hugged her, he thought it would help. He took a deep breath and shook his head.

" Nothing really hun, ... ya gonna take some pictures?"

Joliette Rigiel
She watched him for a moment and leaned into his hug. At his question she nodded and pulled slightly away turning towards the ocean and adjusting hte lens before taking a number of photos and then turning back to him "Thats enough for now, I'd rather spend some time with you, we haven't in such a long while...." she spoke quietly

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded and got himself comfortable on the beach sand as he lowered his bulky frame and took a seat. He looked out to sea and pulled his knees up to rest his arms on them. There was nothing out there, just water as far as he could see. He'd only seen the ocean a few times in his life, now he was completely captured by it.

He pondered about Awen and where they had found her, she must have gone out to sea. He didn't blame her for trying, he would have himself by now if he had gills. Maybe that was the problem, she wasn't all ray, maybe they just didn't work right.

" Yeah, .. I know... the whole lockdown s**t of a thing muddled us all up. Just been going for late walks to, I'm there in the morning though."

Joliette Rigiel
She settled down beside him leaning against him "The lockdown, well it was the worst experience of my life... losing control... it's why I never returned to camp" she admits, she hadn't last they spoke. Her eyes stayed on the sand below them

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs slipped an arm about Joliette and closed his eye and held her. He could understand about the lack of control, just now with Aubery was bad enough. Chubbs continued to look out to the sea, he was partly elsewhere for now.

" Just have to hold on to what you got as hard as you can"

He gave her an extra squeeze with that.

Joliette Rigiel
"Easier now with a full belly, but not when it's empty, I've given up trying to stay vegan... I almost attacked someone while we were on lockdown... I don't want that to ever happen again" she looks at him hoping he wouldn't hate her for that

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded and lookd at Joliette, he tried to give her a smile, something to brighten her up but he couldn't. He leaned over and kissed her forehead and rested his head against her own. He could understand what she went through though, he was living it now.

" I know the feeling... I moved away from Tim because I was looking at him in a way I shouldn't. If I hadn't of found that snake, I might have gone after someone myself, just like I almost did now"

Joliette Rigiel
"I don't like becoming a predator, it's... hard to deal with... I'm a quiet person, defend myself if I have to... but a predator, while maybe quiet... but attacks rather then defends... Where did you go when you left camp?" she asked softly

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs began to recal everything he did when he left the camp, trying to tell the tale as accurate as possible.

" Hmm well I went hunting for food, when I went to grab a stick to hit an animal with a grabbed a big a** snake instead and it tried to choke me"

Chubbs rubbed his shoulder where he snake bit on firmly.

" I beat it, ate it and the storm woke me so I went looking for somewhere to go. I found a umm fox girl... Mad... Madison I think her name is. Then I found a norm named Lily, she told me Amaya was freezing. So I found her and Lily knew where the camp of Ambrose's was so all four of us went there. Theeen, well I made a group cuddle to keep Amaya warm. I woke up later to find Amaya missing and you weren't there so I went on a search, and that's when I found you hours later"

Joliette Rigiel
She nods taking in his story "Somehow we almost have to wonder how we all made it through everything with barely more then scratches..." she sighs remembering his finding of her in the mini-golf course

Chubbs MacKraken
" That's cuz they wouldn't let their damned experiment go to sh*t. No, that'd be too awful"

Chubbs shook his head and sighed with a frown, it was all tests, poking an proding and leading a mouse through a maze. He should go to his duplex, with a stack of food and just never leave there again unless he had to. He wasn't having a good day.

Joliette Rigiel
She turns her head and looks down into the sand without a word. He'd changed since they'd really sat and talked, she didn't know how to take that, or how it'd effect their relationship, she had hoped what was being done to them wouldn't ever...

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked at Joliette and realised he was not helping things. He just didn't want to smile, he couldn't smile. He just didn't want to do this anymore, the sitting here completely useless, the getting mad at a drop of a hat, the being stuck in the middle of woop woop with no rights at all. Chubbs turned and cupped Joliettes cheek and turned her enough to kiss her lips. That did make things better, and hopefully with her too.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette let him move her face, her eyes searching his until their lips touched and then she closed her eyes and simply leaned intot he kiss a clawed hand lifting to carefully rest on his cheek. If she could get completely lost in a moment in time, freeze it, right then she would jump at that power and do it

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs was quite surprised at the power of a kiss. Movies made them seem so world shaking that he always thought they overdid it and it wasn't all that it was. He was glad to be wrong, he felt a heck of alot better, he seemed to forget his problems for while. He still didn't want to smile but he did enjoy the kiss and held onto Joliette tightly.

Joliette Rigiel
She missed the closeness, and there is was right there for her, To waste that would be a crime unto itself...

Did she want to know what was going on in his mind? Right then not really, forgetting where they were, what was happening, and how they got there, it was then that she could relax and be herself, cept a lil less withdrawn and quiet.

David did that for her, especially when they spent time together in a romantic way... like the kiss they were sharing at that moment.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs reached under her legs and broke the kiss enough to see what he was doing. He watched her as he lifted her up in his arms and pulled her over to sit in his lap that he made for her. His arms made their way around her once more to hold her close and the signs of a smile parted his lips as he did.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette moved her feet to be comfortable as he set her down, she smiled softly back at him "Love you David, so very much" she told him in a near whisper, just barely loud enough that even she could hear the low tone before kissing him softly again

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs' mouth in the corner rose up into a smile, bloody Joliette, like some special forces warrior queen with guns a blazing road in and stomped out his bad feelings. He pictured the image it was kind of amusing.

" Love yo..."

He didn't really get a chance to reply, her lips were on his and he smiled a bit more and enjoyed himself. He could do this at least, make someone happy maybe.

Joliette Rigiel
She looped her arms around his fuzzy neck, she didn't care if he was changed or not, to her it wasn't hte outward appearance of the man, or even the animal within, after all she didn't have a very plesent animal within either, it was his heart. And thats what she'd fallen for to begin with, was ihs heart, and how he cared about others so much. She held the kiss until she was forced to break for air

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs finally had to stop the kiss to catch a breath and chuckled, he actually chuckled. He smirked and looked up at Joliette an petted her back.

" Only you could do that, just make all the crap just go away"

He gave her a tight squeeze and nibbled on her lower lip for a moment then gave a big sigh.

" Looks like you were needing one of those as much as I did"

He winked at that.

Joliette Rigiel
"I could use more then a kiss, but it's a very good start" she admits staying close to him. Her tongue flicked hitting his chin, but she didn't flinch at that occurance

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs raised a brow and smiled, slipping his arms under her once more, he lifted her up and with a bit of effort, managed to get to his feet.

" Island knightly services at your disposal ma'am"

Giving her a kiss and a wink he shuffled his way towards the duplexes.

Joliette Rigiel
She giggled, she couldn't help it, she loved when he acted like her knight in shining armor "Yay for knights!"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs grinned and made his way up the path and towards his home, well their home. Joliette had made his day better, and he'd forgotten about his troubles. She was going to get everything she wanted.

Chubbs wandered backtowards his duplex, flicking away the small remainder of his cigarette and almost finishing his beer. He'd not wanted the kind of company he found at the bar at that moment. His duplex was in sight, he really shouldn't have left the damned place.

Finishing off his beer, he felt the growing urge to suddenly pee, real badly. He tried to hurry to the duplex. He looked along the duplexes to see if familiar faces were up an at em. Seeing no one around he headed over to the bushes to quickly unzip his fly and groaned as he relieved himself. Finally done and pulling up his fly, he noticed by his foot a small bag, well a few actually. What were these doing in the bushes buy Joli's house?

Chubbs leaned down and picked them up. He looked around, wondering who might have left them there and what the deal was. After a quick search aounch, he couldn't find anymore and scratched his head. Maybe Joliette dropped them, some kind of photo chemical stuff. He headed to his duplex and took them inside

What the Hell?!?

Joliette lay on her belly face turned towards the middle of hte bed they shared, a content and peaceful expression on her face. She was asleep, she hadn't yet begun her day when David returned to the duplex they were sharing, below the sheets, she had nothing, she'd not bothered to find a nightshirt when she finally had fallen asleep

Chubbs smiled lazily when he spied Joliette in the bed. Seeing her there the way she was, well he'd certainly have a good way to tell her good morning. Walking over, he tried to keep the bottles still and he sat on the bed putting the bags beside him. Quietly he leaned over and peeled the sheet back and twisted his cap around backwards. With a smile, he kissed along her back and lightly towards her neck.

"Mmmm" she took a breath in and smiled slowly waking feeling his touch, by the time he'd reached her neck she was awake and had opened one eye looking over her shoulder a bit towards him "Morning Love" she said not yet moving to let the furry man have his fun

Chubbs grinned and kissed along her neck softly and nibbled her along her shoulder. He smiled as he peered down at her and stroked her bare back.

" Mornin yaself gorgeous, I went to go get breakfast, but I recon I got me something better to nibble on right here"

He gave her a wink, put the bottles on the bedside table and put the bags there beside them.

" Oh umm, did ya drop those? I found em in a bush near ya duplex, thought mighta been photo stuff"

Joliette giggled and sat up "Oh David you silly" she says and then peers at the bags he motioned at "Uhm no, my darkroom chemicals are all in liquid state" she reaches and picks one up holding it between her claws and looking at it, it was white, what would a white powdered stuff be near her old duplex...

She pulls it open peering into itand then holds it up again eye level, her tongue flickered and brought scents back to her, him, her, the beer... drugs?!?

"David, I think this is... drugs!" she kept her voice low

Chubbs' smile was soon replaced by a blank and startled look. He raised a brow soon after and looked down at the bag and sniffed at it. He didn't know what that was suppose to accomplish, he didn't know what drugs smelt like.

" Drugs?... but how? I mean... who the heck leaves drugs sitting under a bush like that outside our place?"

"I certainly don't know, I don't use them, I don't know of any specific islander who might... sure I know a few who get high, but from other scents I've picked up over time, I'd say thats a spliff. " she closed the bag she was holding though not properly "David I certainly don't want to be connected to this stuff..." She looks at him not caring she was sitting there with a sheet loosely around her midsection and no top

Chubbs grabbed all the bags up and stood up from the bed, looking around the room he thought quickly and headed to the bathroom. He went to the toilet and considered his options, then made sure the bags wre tight and sealed and undid the backing on the toilet. He stuffed the bags inside and put the lid back on and sealed it up and after washing his hands, headed back to the bed. Taking off his shoes and hat, and then his hoody he smiled at Joliette.

" If ya hear anything bout it, just tell me, and don't admit to anything just yet. We'll get rid of it if we have to"

He jumped into bed beside her.

She leaned forward on the bag watching him move into the bathroom, and then what he did with it all. She sits back as he emerges "All right love, if I hear of it I'll tell you... I just hope personally I don't..." a grin spreads across her face as he sheds the garments. "Silly David" she says and flops back onto her pillow reaching and taking his hand pulling him closer

Lily had finally decided to leave her duplex, wearing her pajamas after deciding it might be more comfortable for now despite the stickiness. She isn't keen on seeing anyone but she had gotten tired of staying inside, and the evening seemed more comfortable of a time for her to leave. She holds an orange fingered hand up to her mouth as if people could see how slimy and thick her mouth and tongue felt if she didn't. She doesn't make it far from her own duplex, looking around at all of the other duplexes, when she notices that duplex 28 looks a little odd.

"Whr?" she murmurs, looking at the duplex as a whole. The numbers, 27 in particular, seem to ring a bell in the back of her mind but she can only recall that Colche lives in 17. She figures that's probably why she remembers it, the sevens. Curious, she ascends the stairs- realizing the windows were very dark and deciding to take a closer look. What are the odds she'd run into someone looking at a seemingly-sealed duplex at the top of some stairs?

Inside Joliette finishes with developing yet another photo and putting away the light sensitive equipment, she didn't know what time of day it was, she never did seem to do anything but lose track of time when she was in there. She clips the photo up on the wire and walks over to the door, she turns the knob after unlocking it swinging it open and just turning around to walk back in, the remaining light from outside spilling into the dark room the only true light within was red in color. She didn't realize someone was on the porch as she walked to the desk and opened the laptop bringing it out of sleep mode.

Lily freezes just after she reaches the top of the stairs and the door swings open. So it clearly isn't an abandoned duplex, and it obviously belongs to Joliette- who didn't see her. She starts to lean over curiously to try to see in the room, but quickly straightens herself out. Joliette didn't see her, and she intends to take advantage of that! She doesn't need to be talking to people in general, let alone to this person, who seems to have a knack for getting suspicious comments out of her.

She turns around and starts back down the stairs.

She lifts her head after her tongue flicks, a scent, she turns her head and looks over her shoulder "Hello?" she calls in her brit accent towards the wide open door. She abandons the laptop trudging back towards the door... Was someone there?

Lily stops, about halfway down the stairs, when she hears Joliette call out. After considering briefly the idea of just continuing on her way down the stairs and going to her duplex, which is only two buildings and half of a flight of stairs away, she turns around and waves with the hand not over her mouth. Her expression is almost reluctant, which isn't too hard to see even with her hand covering part of her face.

Joliette's small body is soon standing in the frame of the door and she peers down the staircase "Lily!.. " she pauses, her green eyes traveling over the woman's form "Oh my, You made your first change..." she says slowly "Are you all right?", she remembers rather clearly her own change, and vaguely David's, and definitely Emelyn's

Lily watches Joli silently, pausing after her comment and question about the change. She nods at first, then thinking about how not saying anything could make it look like she's not actually alright. Briefly considering if she is or not, she finally sighs and answers out loud, "I'm bine." Her voice is thick and low as she tries to speak. She goes back up a couple of steps since now she can't very well avoid Joliette.

Joliette blinks, it sounds really like Lily's nose is all plugged up or something, she isn't exactly sure why, she didn't... look sick, just changed "Good to hear" she replies with a small smile "Were you looking for me?" she asks curiously since Lily HAD been most the way up the stairs, and she hardly ever saw anyone go up these steps save her and sometimes David

Lily attempt a smile, though it's mostly blocked by her hand, and then promptly shakes her head to the question. She glances back at the windows of the darkroom, "I wass jus' .. looking. I porgot 'is wass pours." Her words slow the farther she gets into her sentence, trying to pronounce things properly. She moves her hand from in front of her mouth to her eyes, shaking her head- well, at least she's trying to speak.

"Well, kinda mine, this isn't my room, I don't live here" she says after a moment "It's kinda a 'home away from home' " Joliette watches Lily's curious actions her yellow forked tongue flicking out and in, she seemed, well nervous... or something, Joliette couldn't quite place the emotion, and Lily's changes well they were definitely different "Do you want to come in?"

Lily uncovers her eyes when Joli speaks, stopping her hand somewhere near her nose and mouth. It doesn't surprise her that this isn't where Joliette actually lives, judging mainly by the dark windows. She looks from Joli to the room through the open door as she considers the offer, it couldn't hurt that much, could it?

"Sure," she says, her mouth looking a little shinier than is natural when it opens. She comes back up the rest of the stairs, finally taking her hand from her face entirely.

Joliette smiles and nods. She noticed the 'shiny'ness but says nothing as she turns and trudges back into the dark unit.

Inside the unit all normal living equipment has been cleared out save one arm chair pushed into a corner, the desk and anything else Joliette could scrounge up to use as 'counter' surfaces. It's dark, lit only by a handful of red colored lights and the remaining light pouring in from outside, a couple wires are draped a foot out from one wall a number of color photographs banging by one or two corners depending on their size hanging from it. On the 'counters' surrounding the room there is photography equipment of all varieties including lenses and her camera. The windows are boarded up with their curtains closed and in the open bathroom which has no door can be seen the large metallic sink that has been installed over the bathtub.

Lily follows Joli into the darkroom, recalling the brief conversation about this duplex as a whole. It has to be why she remembers the numbers, but mostly she remembers being surprised about the existence of a darkroom for one subject as she was just learning how well the Islanders are treated at some points. She looks around the room, noting the windows are boarded up- which obviously contributed to the dark windows that had drawn her here.

"Et's nis..." she says thick and slowly, "You're a potogreper?" She glances at the hanging photographs and cameras, wondering if it's just a hobby or if it was a career, pleased to have even a slight distraction from worrying about how she sounds.

"Photographic journalist actually, or was at least, but I'm gonna try and write before I change too much more... " She sighs "I don't know what my future holds for me anymore, used to be all scoops and stories, now it's developing and changing." She looks around the room. Lily wasn't tooo hard to decipher, a lil... interesting to listen to but not too bad

Lily glances at Joli when she says she's a photographic journalist, but then quickly looks back to the equipment around the room while nodding to show she's listening. She bites her lip, though all she can manage is the inner edge of it, when Joli mentions the future and looks at her hand. What does her own future hold? She's turning into something slimy and she's apparently quite terrible at keeping a secret. Her mind is pushed back when she considers the changes of focus Joli has gone through, feeling it explains her interest in how she 'guessed' how many workers there are here.

"No bon relly knows thet har," she says, looking back at Joliette.

That one takes a her a moment to decipher... But she does get it after a little thought. "You're right, the only thing for certain is we're experiments and we're stuck" she walks over to a counter and picks up a photo, one she'd developed from when she'd first come "I wish when I'd seen this sight, I'd turned around and not come closer" she holds the photo out towards Lily, it didn't bother her that the other girl's fingers looked odd, hell the photo itself already had several claw punctures. It was a zoomed photo of the island obviously taken from afar, and Vasile was running on the beach

Lily nods, watching Joli walk to the counter.

'I wish I'd turned down the job', she thinks bitterly even before she gets a look at the photo. For once, it isn't something she said out loud- though she doesn't bother to try to think of something to say about wishing she hadn't taken a vacation or had been more suspicious about labs at a vacation spot. She holds out an orange hand to take the photo, looking at it with interest.

"Oh," she says, looking carefully at the figure on the beach, "Wbat bought you her?" The way she spoke it sounds like she had had a choice of turning around, and it seems likely it would have something to do with her journalism, especially with a photo from around her time of arrival.

"I heard rumors that the death of Vasile was fake, and that his plane 'went down' around this area somewhere, and I decided to see if the rumors were true... I rented a yacht and left England, and about two to three weeks later I spotted the island through that lens" she points at an enormous telephoto lens standing lens down in the corner, it was easily half as tall if not a lil more then that as Joliette herself "But, I came close, and then Duvert tricked me to believing Vasile was shooting a movie here and I could have an exclusive if I came ashore to sign the right papers.."

"Oh," she murmurs when Joli finishes her explanation, eyeing the giant lens in the corner before looking back, "Thet's retty shneaky." It is quite the story, almost unreal. You'd certainly never be able to guess what you're getting into when you go looking for some truth behind some rumors here.

"So, bour job es why your her," she concludes slowly.

"Basically, I promised my boss a scoop and then left, they aren't even looking for me anymore, least anyone who isn't my mama or papa, or my granparents" she says and leans against the counter "Anyone to search for you?" she inquires

Lily frowns, it's terrible to think about people trying to find you.

"Bow do you know dey stopp'd looking?" she asks, hoping it's a guess and not a fact that her work- which is a reason she's here- had stopped. She reflects briefly on her own family, actually smiling a little bit when she does. Her family wouldn't be looking for her, they knew she was going to work and would probably guess valid reasons for lack of contact and visits. It could be a long time before they even start to worry about her not coming back, and even if she won't see them again knowing they aren't worrying is important to her. She snaps out of it- if she came on vacation, her family would have expected her back long before now. She frowns.

"Wbell," she pauses, "my fambly- my momb and dad.. broder.." she just sort of trails off, after finding out she had to stay here for a long time for work she'd already come to terms with knowing she wouldn't see her family for a long time and it was much better to not think about how she wouldn't..

Joliette pushes away from the counter and walks over tot he desk pulling out a magazine from the top drawer, it's title World Weekly News screaming loud and clear across the top, On the Cover, her photograph and the small writing for the description reads 'World Weekly News Journalist Still Missing ' She flips through it and hands it open to Lily tot he article

After an extensive search the search for missing Photographic Journalist Joliette Rigiel has been called off. It is with the combined efforts of Feral Labs and Interpol that an large area of the ocean has been combed. While authorities are no longer on the hunt for the journalist, the woman's family has informed World Weekly News that they will never give up searching for her

Joliette's whereabouts will remain a mystery and at this time her file will be put with the Interpol's cold case files as she is not legally considered dead for a few more years and hope remains she will return.

Lily blinks as Joliette goes and retrieves the magazine, looking surprised when it's opened to an article and then handed to her. She reads it over once, looking up from the text to Joliette- how did she get this? None of the information in it seems like something you'd want to know, for various reasons.

"Wherd you get thiss?" she looks back to the article with a frown.

"That among about five or six more that had similar articles about the search for me were part of my Christmas present from Moreau" she says "Some present huh, that and an ipod, and I already have an ipod, I brought one with me when I came here" She doesn't sound overly impressed with the gift, though honestly with everything else she'd gotten, especially the darkroom stuff, she did count herself lucky in that regard

Lily's expression turns surprised at the mention of a Christmas present from Moreau, wincing at a brief thought about what horrible things she'd have had to expect as a gift- nothing would be a relief. Though Joli doesn't sound too impressed, it doesn't make it any less surprising.

"He gabe you prebents?" she asks, even managing a surprised tone.

"Yes everyone got something, David got a santa suit, a glued on beard and a foosball table, I'm not sure what others got, but I know everyone got something" She looks around her "Most of this was gotten for me as well, so I could continue my photography" She takes the magazine again and drops it in the drawer closing it again not really wanting to think more about that article right then

"Bow," she mumbles, handing the magazine over, "I guebs dey wand to be kind ob nis to bepel here.." Most people here, anyway. Aside from the unhappy articles and a beard glued to a face, it isn't too terrible sounding- of course, it's far too much effort to say so. She looks around the room again.

"It's good you bet to keeb doig this," Lily says, she doesn't need a good look at too many photographs to know that Joli must be very good at what she does.

Joli smiles "I think I'd go crazy if I couldn't, this is my life, it always has been, ever since I was twelve, I never even looked at romance, never dated, I was always too busy with studying or work.. That's changed here, but still..." she pauses and pushes a curl of hair out of her face "What did you do for a living?"

Lily nods, smiling when Joli does, and following along her little story. It is very good that she gets to continue with photography, then. Something familiar in these kinds of situations is always good. But then a terrible question she's never even thought about before is asked and her expression flashes shock before she moves her gave somewhere a little less obvious and attempts to resume a more natural expression.

"B-be?" she murmurs. Her mind reels- what did she do for a living? She can't just say I worked here for a couple months helping do to you guys what's happening to me too, now.

"I wass a student," she answers, thinking back to before her job, "I dibn't finish bor a cabreer yet.."

It wasn't too bad- it was mostly true.

Joliette nods a student was a good thing to be... "Sad that all your studies are for naught now... Perhaps you can find some way to apply them here, that's what I did, I take photos all over the isle.. I had one of the explosion, but my camera was destroyed while we were in lockout"

Lily relaxes a bit when it seems her story is going unquestioned, relieved.

"I dont know 'bout dat," she murmurs, "I stubied scibence." She hopes Joli can make the leap to not wanting to apply science somehow to the Island, thinking mostly about the science involved in their changes since that is what she had worked on with her studies. She looks back at Joliette when she mentions the photo of the explosion.

"Thab's too bad."

"Hard to say, perhaps one day you'll find something, I'd go stir crazy if there was nothing to do..." she leans against a counter again looking up at the woman. She decided right then that she was going to have to develop a nice picture for her, like she had all her friends at christmas time

Lily nods, frowning, "I know wbat you mean." All she'd had to do was meet people, mainly enjoying that for the chances to look at their transformations. But she'd been getting less concerned with that, and something seemed different after her own change. She stares at one of the counters as if it would suddenly give her an idea of something to dedicate time to.

"Well I need food, one thing the wild taught me is I can't let myself get too hungry, especially if I want to keep control of the beast" Joliette sighs at that thought and then pushes away from the counter "You are welcome to join me if you want"

Lily looks from the counter to Joliette and nods, reminded of her own instincts that so far only really seemed to be trying to eat a fly. But she shakes her head at the invitation, "I thik I'll jus' go bor a bwalk.." She'd left her duplex to be outside after spending so much time inside, and she can still go do that.

"All right, sounds good, you take care huh" Joliette says reaching and taking the keys off the end of the counter and giving Lily a smile

"You tboo," Lily says with a small smile, "Tank you bor .. teh tour." She takes a last look around the darkroom before heading for the door.

"It's quieter in here, less prying eyes, I know what it's like after the first change" she followed the taller female through the door pulling it shut after her and making sure it was locked

Lily waves back as she heads in the opposite direction, directing herself to trees rather than to buildings this time.

Chubbs Changes
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Chubbs groaned and rolled about onto his side, he couldn't sleep, his mind a racing from the vivid dreams and nightmares. He kicked the sheet off his body, wriggling around and grunting, the heat was getting to him, he wished it had cooled down or something. His heart was racing and he laid on his back, trying to block out of his mind the horrible images he dreamt of. The pile of flesh and blood and bone that he made with his own claws and the victims of his temper.

Chubbs rubbed his face and sat up, scratching his cheek and trying to calm down,. Looking back at Joliette asleep, he didn't even feel calm by her. He scratched at his arm, and then his shoulder, suddenly realising how itchy he was. Then right on his back, right where he couldn't reach, the worse itch of all. He grunted and sat up, rushing over to the bathroom doorway and rubbing his back against it as he scratched at his chest. Gods it was all over, like he had fleas. He was scratching so much it was starting to leave maarks and turning his skin blotchy and red. And while scratching his chest he felt a pain acoss it. Looking down he had left four great claws marks, bleeding now as the pain shot to his finger tips. Chubbs went wide eyed as his claws began to grow, and he was speachless in both shock at the site, and anger at the pain.

Joliette barely stirred at her lover's vacating of the bed, she was herself quite asleep, obviously her dreams were much more pleasent then his had been, and indeed unlike the last time Chubbs and herself had changed, she herself was not changing. She rolled slightly her hand sliding under the pillow and continued her slumber

Chubbs suddenly cried out in pain and even with his pained fingers, started scratching violently at himself. He watched in horror as fur began to lengthen along his hand. He staggered into the bathroom to look in the mirror and watched as his face started to hide behind a mess of fur sprouting out of his skin.

" no...no! NOOOO!"

Chubbs roared and started pulling out fur, where ever he could, tearing it painfully from his skin. He couldn't take it, holding back so long, the anger, the frustration, the change, it all came out in a deafening roar.

Joliete's eyes snapped open hearing his scream... She sat up fast the blanket slipping down into her lap as she looked around to figure out what was going on. Her eyes lit upon him and her jaw dropped "David..." she whispered seeing fur spreading across his skin... She focused on herself a moment before returning her gaze at him, she wasn't changing, he was... This time she actually was paying attention to his change, not distracted by anything else

Chubbs' fist went straight into the mirror, shattering it like a giant spiders web, he cried out again, and raked his nails along the wall. He was loud and agry, he'd lost control and was taking it out on anything and everything. The fur grew thicker over his body and only seemed to agitate him more. He began to hit himself agains the walls, against the shower door and through it, he growled and slashed and clawed and rammed into all sorts of things.

Newer, heavier smells asaulted his nose, it caused his brain to get confused, but one thing caused him to stir. Flesh, he needed to inflict pain, to induce the kind of pain he was feeling, emotionally and physically onto others and ther was someone nearby. Chubbs rammed into the doorway, his face scrunched up into a horrible snarl, claws digging into the walls and cleanching tight as he viewed Joliette like a stress toy he could take his anger out on. He growled and started forwards, and tripping on his new claws. Before he could stager to his feet, there was the cracking sound, and a horrible cry of pain as his tail shot out of his shorts and grew longer. Chubbs wailed and began tearing up the carpet.

Her eyes widened seeing the look in his eyes, she scampered backwards only to fall off the side of the bed furthest from David. "Ouch" she winced landing hard on her nub of a tail. She got up and grabbed her Gi bottoms pulling them on with nothing under it. She snagged at her top "David please... please..." she knew the feeling behind those eyes, only because she'd felt it to Billy only days before and Sabin months before as she tried to pull her top on to stay away from him feeling more nervous every moment.

His face began to adjust to his changing jaw and growing teeth. He stared up at Joliette and charged at her, diving over the bed and pinning her against the wall. He stared down at her and snarled as the changed finished and he shut his teeth together with a snap. His eyes looked her over and he stopped, and sniffed at her. He began to loosen his hold and looked suddenly scared. Then Chubbs rested his head on her shoulder, and burst into tears.

A look of pure horror graced her face as he dove over the bed pinning her to the wall before she had had a chance to fully get the top of her Gi on, and she knew exactly how Awen had felt the day in the jungle. "David!... please!..." she cried out scared, tears slipping down her cheeks. She was frozen in place even as he put his head to her shoulder

Chubbs dropped to his knees, and cried more and more. He wrapped his arms around her legs and held her tightly. He was afraid, scared, maybe more so than she was, he didn't want her to go, he'd been so terrified of what just happened, he was scared she would run away. He couldnh't speak, he didn't know how it could happen. He was in a shambles, his fur partly torn, scratches on his body and his face wet with tears.

She'd closed her eyes, she made no move to leave, or even to get out of his grip. She shook slightly out of fear. She didn't know what to do, was it a glipse of hte future? what would happen when she changed further. After a long whle she opened her eyes tears still slipping down her cheeks as she looked down at him taking in his appearance

Chubbs choked and coughedand sniffed. He couldn't look at her, he couldn't lift his face to see if she was okay. He was afraid he'd see the fear that now haunted his mind.

" Oh... oh gods... Jo... Joli.... I'm sorry"

"It... it's... ok..." she said in a bare whisper. She knew losing control and it's feelings, she'd felt it when she nearly attacked Awen. "I... I understand" her voice quiet and she slowly and ver very nervously moved her hand to set it atop his head

Chubbs whimpered and sniffed, and finally let go of her enough between his blubbering to look at his arm. The itching burn was still there, but not as bad as he could have been. His arm was coarse with hair, and he felt his face. It was gone, he was slowly fading away both body and mind. The thought now of him almost hurting Joliette, what he wanted to do to her, it sent him running to the bathroom, tripping several times on his claws and promptly began to vomit into the toilet.

Joliette watched him go tripping on his way and lifted a hand to rub her sore shoulder where he'd pinned her, a quick look under her gi told her it would likely bruise. She pulled the gi around her finally getting the chance to tie it shut and then followed him doing her best to keep her tongue in her mouth not desiring to 'smell' the vomit. She stopped in the bathroom door and just watched him

Chubbs finally stopped heaving up and spat into the bowl for a bit. He reached up and flushed it, hoping to remove the smell. Getting slowly up onto his feet he looked down, and never at Joliette. He saw broken tiles, shattered glass and walked over to the sink to wash out his mouth and wipe his face. He could see her there in the corner of his eye and he tried to talk.

" I......I.........wh........ I'm sorry"

He painfully looked at Joliette, afraid to see the fear on her face, something that would shatter him.

Fear had in fact left her face replaced by concern and worry, she bites her bottom lip for a moment and then speaks "David... I understand... I forgive you" she replied quietly and moved towards him "Instincts... it's why I stayed alone after almost attacking Awen" she says softly and stops closer to him

Chubbs blinked and held up his arms, trying to stop her from entering. He hoped it didn't look too threatening, he was actually thinking about her well being at the time.

" No,.. no... just um wait there, there's glass everywhere"

He shifted himself across the bathroom, trying not to step on the glass as he went over towards the doorway. he got up to beside her, looking down at the floor and he sighed, awkwardly looking up between the bangs of his hair.

" It was too much... so much... the island, Sabin, the bitchy staff girl, the locking us out for an expiriment. I... I couldn't handle it"

Even though she said she understood, Chubbs continued to feel like a monster.

Joliette looked up at him, she nods silently and lifts a hand using a couple clawed fingers to push the bangs to one side, she looked into his eyes has hand coming to rest on his furry cheek "You are still David... and I still love you" she whispers, she felt just like the beauty and the beast just then

Chubbs closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he felt the hand on his cheek. He quickly put his hand over hers and held it, he felt the same way she did. He wondered how she could still love him, after how he looked, and how he acted. Finally the pain kicked in, the irritation, the pulled out fur, the cuts and scratched and the back, it all be wave over him. He took another sigh and winced when his tail moved and he rubbed his forehead.

"I... I love you too..., I need to lay down hun,... I'm feeling like crap I probably.. lok that way"

Joliette nods and steps back to let him pass "David... do you want me to go try and find you some pain killers? I think that lady Delia in town hall has that available" she asks him

Chubbs shifted closer to Joliette and tried to put his arms around her. He balled up his hands as best he could to hide his claws as he hugged her. He wished he wasn't how he was, he wished Joliette had someone to love her what wasn't a beserking freak, she deserved better.

" That... that might help... thanks"

He finally shifted towards the bed, and slid onto it gently, laying on his stomach to not move his tail on the bed.

Joliette hugged him back and watched him go to the bed, her eyes taking in his details for a moment "All right, I'll be back in a moment" she pulled the gi close around her and left the duplex.

to the town hall

Joliette Rigiel

Joliette Rigiel

PostPosted: Mon Mar 20, 2006 7:39 am

Looking a bit unkempt, much like she had just fallen out of bed, which couldn't have been more true, Joliette shuffled into the town hall. She was heading for Delia the lady who ran the hall. She aimed to get painkillers for her love... It didn't occur to her that anyone might have been up at that our besides staff.

Bobby was slightly derailed from her room-ransack from the day before. Her packages hadn't come, so she was still in her shirt that was splotched with faded blood-stains, and she still wore her makeshift bandages. Having no intention of meeting anyone, she tried to take a morning run early in the morning, when everyone else was asleep.

In the soft light, Bobby caught sight of another figure, walking into the building by the cafeteria. She had eaten all her fruit from before and would have liked some real food... so she followed the other in.

Joliette bit her bottom lip "Pain killers... David needs painkillers" she says quietly aloud her think British accent sounding with her words. He long split yellow tongue flickered and she stopped having picked up a scent, looking over her shoulder she saw someone she'd never met. Who unlike herself did not manifest and signs of changes... She must be new Joliette thought to herself. No sense however in being rude, it had been obvious that she'd noticed her.

"Hello" she greets the dark skinned woman looking up at her. Like everyone else the woman was taller then her, this one by a lil more then a foot. She hoped the woman knew the purpose of the isle, she wasn't sure she could handle telling another newcomer.

Bobby gave a half grin, noticing the green on the woman's face. She didn't want to ask... she already knew, "Hello...." The woman didn't want to sound like she was eavesdropping, but she had heard and was interested in what the other woman had said. "Did I hear you mention painkillers? Can you get those here?" Raising her hands so Joliette could see her hands, Bobby blushed slightly, the rose barely noticeable on her dark face, "I had a little accident... my name's Bobby, by the way... Bobby Reynolds!"

"Yeah, from the lady who runs the town hall, they do minor medical stuff here too, she could probably help you deal with those. Those look sore..." she eyes the cuts on Bobby's hands and resolves to try and keep her tongue in, she'd not eaten yet that day. "Nice to meet you, I wish it were under different circumstances... I'm Joliette Rigiel, Joliette or Joli to most of the people I've met here" she returns the introduction.

"Just slightly sore..." Bobby sighed, "Not too much." She felt like a wimp! She had had much worse wounds before and never had to take anything like pain killers, but this was a different world. If she was stuck here, she deserved to have some basic relief and pampering, no? Live it to the fullest.

At Joli's introduction, Bobby stared at the woman. Was it possible? "Wait.... you're Joliette Rigiel? The British reporter who just.... disappeared? We spent...." she paused, not wanting to give away that she was on the force, and had been a part of the search and rescue team for this woman. "I read about you..."

Bobby looked down and inspected the woman, how could see not have recognized her? She wasn't far in the transformation, nothing like Pyroth and Ambrose who probably looked nothing like they had before.

"The one and the same" Joliette says with a nod and a sigh and uses a clawed finger to push her curly hair off her face and over her shrinking ear "I didn't exactly... disappear... Moreau got involved making finding me... impossible, Feral Labs " she made a face showing her strong distaste for the company and it's owner. She was partially surprised this woman knew of her, after all noone previous to her had...

Bobby nodded, a dark gleam sparking in her eye, "I did think it was rather suspicious, with Feral Labs and all. They don't usually get involved like that... the politics were horrible with them. They restricted the search just about as much as they helped...." Eventually, she caught herself. Bobby didn't know how long her cover was going to hold... especially now that she met someone that was presumed dead. Maybe everyone was presumed dead....

Bobby shuttered slightly at the thought. She didn't want her family to think she had died, but there probably wasn't anything they could do about it. Undoubtedly Trevor would find out about her adulterous acts, the one thing she regretted most and now there would no chance for her to tell him how much she loved him and how sorry she was.

Finally, the woman turned her attention back to her companion, "I am relieved to know you are at least alive.... well, as much as you can be here." Bobby looked around a little, noting that no expense was lost in the building of the facilities. "Would you be willing to show me to this lady with the lovely pain killers?" she changed the subject, smiling slightly at the thought of finally getting rid of the pain in her hands.

It was the second time in just a short couple weeks that someone had managed to get Joliette's journalistic wheels turning, but she didn't have time to settle on that for the moment. "Yes, this way.." She motioned in the direction they needed to go and then turned towards it "I think they got involved because the fact I was here, couldn't have anyone discovering their precious isle after all..." she rolls her eyes slightly and her long tongue flickers from her mouth making her wince at the scent of nearby blood, a scent stronger now that Bobby was closer to her. "They already had it found once... by me"

Bobby grinned almost maliciously. This woman was wasted doing petty-reporting! She should have been an investigator or... something! "Sounds like you have quite the intuition, Ms. Rigiel! I'm almost sad you were unable to get your story out. I was very interested at the time to see what big scandal you were going to show the world." She waved her hand around, "This certainly would have created quite a stir!"

"I was looking to prove Vasile DiRossi for his fake death, I got much more then I bargained for, You know if I'd turned around and zoomed away with my yacht rather then coming closer to confront the guy I wouldn't be here, but the fact is I am unfortunately... How did you get here?" she asks as she leads the dark skinned woman towards Delia.

Bobby almost flinched at the question. She should have thought it through... now she was stuck with it because she had already told others. There was no going back now... just a life full of regret. "I thought I was coming here on vacation. It was strange, how I just got the packet in the mail with plane tickets and everything! But I never did get out much, so I never questioned..." She went back and thought on what Joli said about the actor. Narrowing her eyes, Bobby looked down at Joli, "Vasile is here too?"

The woman wasn't very fond of actors...

"Another vacationer, mon deau can't Moreau get any more creative then that?" She sighs and rubs a temple "Yes he's here, another 'death' that isn't true..." she says to Bobby confirming the question "Along with a lot more people whom I'm sure many are still looking for, but if Moreau has any say will never find." She pondered what she would have done if she had been there under different pretexts, she doubted she would have liked it any better then how she did wind up there.

Bobby frowned slightly. Chances are, no one would come looking for her. They may look around New York, but that would probably be it. The life of a police officer was dangerous, and when they disappear the searches are only half-a**, as it is a fairly common occasion. All they would see of the end of Bobby was her dead partner. She ground her teeth. "So much heart-ache in this world.... not like we needed anymore... I hope Moreau doesn't get anymore creative. There is already too many people here, and I doubt we are the last."

"If the number of duplexes is any indication we aren't the last" she paused near the counter looking at the posted last and made a face "Thirty eight filled now, though one isn't occupied by any person, just equipment" She looked to Bobby, "I hope there isn't too much heartbreak in your home when they realize you aren't returning" She felt bad for the woman, she didn't deserve what was happening any more then the rest of them.

The tears welled in her eyes, but Bobby stubbornly shove them back down. She hadn't cried yet about it, and when she did, she didn't want it to be in front of anyone else. Hanging her heard, the woman mumbled, "I... don't want to think about it. The kids were..." Bobby paused again. She couldn't say that the kids were upset and mad enough as it was because she was hardly around... out there catching the bad guys. Sure, they were proud, but she was their mother... and hardly around. "Trevor I'm not too worried about, although I hope he remarries. The kids, however... I do. They've grown up and seen horrible things, things we couldn't keep from them. They will probably think the worse."

Joliette frowns "I'm sorry to hear that, on both accounts" she sighs and turns from Bobby giving the woman time to gather herself as she turned to Delia and asked for painkillers for David. She made sure to give the proper name so the woman would give her the proper dose. She looked up at Bobby again while she waited "Crying is good, trust me I've done my fair share here" she says softly

Bobby sighed, "Maybe, but it doesn't help the situation. If I could cry a way to get me home, I would..." She decided to wait for her pain killers. Joli was buying for someone else, so probably in a rush. "I haven't.... kept you from anything, have I?"

"He laid down so hopefully not..." she rubbed her tender shoulder and as an afterthought asked Delia for some for herself before replying further to Bobby "David... my boyfriend... just had his second change" she admits wishing she didn't have to admit it

Bobby didn't know what to say. She hadn't even had her first change yet, so didn't really understand. "I'm sorry to hear that... what's he changing into, if you don't mind me asking."

The woman looked over Joli's head to see how far Delia was. There was no saying how long her boyfriend was going to rest for, and Bobby had a feeling he'd want Joli there when he woke up... and Joli probably wanted it too.

"Uhm a bear, a Tasmanian devil and I think the third animal in his combination is a wolverine or something of that nature" she says and sighs "They are doing quite the number on him, I'm not sure how he wound up with that combination, most of the serums I've heard of so far are ironic, or just plain cruel when you look at the person's background"

Bobby paused. She thought over what Joli said about ironic, even though she smiled slightly at the description. There was one person she knew who had that combination, although they only met briefly... there couldn't be two people with those specifics... "Does he also go by 'Chubbs'? And he smokes? I think I met him at the beach bar... although, I was a bit under the weather at the time."

"Yes he goes by the name of Chubbs, I think I'm the only one here who calls him by anything other then his nickname... well outside of the staff at least." Well she'd met David, that was one less person for her to wonder if Bobby had met "He's a lil more... furry then last night before we...." her voice broke off and she flushed bright red realizing what she'd been about to say

Bobby didn't need to ask... she knew that look! She had had it many times herself, even after getting married, no less. The woman smiled, "Well, at least you found some relief from this place... I wish there wasn't a price involved, though..."

"Funny thing is... I never let myself get interested in guys before I came here... it was all work and study for me back in Britain..." she takes the painkillers from Delia "So I guess I can say.. despite all that's bad about this isle... at least it has a silver lining"

Bobby nodded, only imagining what Joli did at home. She had met her husband at high school, which was really just a joke. It was all about him. Her parents were just relieved she hadn't joined a gang, so they let her be... even when Patty was born! "I guess I better let you get back to your silver lining," Bobby pointed down at the pain killers in Joli's hand. With a sad smile, the woman looked down at Joli, "You two take care of each other....."

"We try... thanks.. That list puts me in 27, but I moved in with David, so you can find me there... or in my darkroom in 28" she tells Bobby with a nod it had been interesting to meet someone who had actually known of her... Would she be the last? Joliette couldn't even fathom a guess as she turned to wander away the back of her gi that was still haphazardly thrown on barely hiding her few inch long nub of a tail which usually was inside her gi bottoms...

Bobby watched as Joli left. Sweet girl...she shouldn't be here. Just another one of those things that Officer Reynolds tried to prevent, but had no power in doing so. "I will see you again, Joli! Take care!" she called after her before the other woman was completely out of range.

Turning, Bobby smiled to Delia and got herself some pain killers and some real bandages. Along with some ointments and such for her cuts. Walking out with her packages, the woman went to the cafeteria and ate her fill, again snatching some fruit and water in case she was going to spend another day secluded in her room.

She got the painkillers from the lady and after some time pushing the door of the duplex open once more, she had run into a lady at the town hall that confused her morning and had delayed her... But now she was back.

Chubbs was passed out asleep by the time Joli returned, his breathing was deep and he was curled up like a big ball. He'd been awake all night and the angry outburst exhausted him. He'd feel it later when he woke up.

Joliette smiled softly seeing his sleeping form and put his pain killers on the bedside table and crawled back into bed, despite what had happened she was still tired, even if the wheels were turning. He was still David... no matter what... And she dozed back off...

Joliette woke up sand blinked her tongue flickered before she fully came too and brought her a scent she'd not smelt in a long while.. Colche, she opened her eyes and pushed to sit up she was still wearing her gi having not changed from early that morning when she returned from getting the pain killers

"Colche?" she said her voice completely full of confusing to see the cheetah girl laying between her and David.. "What on earth?!" her voice wasn't upset, just very confused wondering how when and why the girl was on the bed.

Colche's ears twitched a bit but she only snuggled further down in to the covers, she wasn't willing to be awoken from her slumber just yet. The shock of that night had hit her hard, she wanted to just sleep and dream that perhaps it didn't happen.

Joliette blinked... Ok that was interesting... She was definitely a heavy sleeper, but then she figured she must be too to not have noticed her arrival. She looked over at David, true to her memory he'd changed, but to her just then he seemed much more calm then early that morning. She wasn't sure if she should get up or not, she just watched the scene. The wheels in her head turning as she thought

Colche made a little uncomfortable sound and one leg jerked before her eyes were open suddenly. She looked frightened, almost like she had seen a ghost, but she calmed quickly, Joliette dancing in to her dazed view. She blinks a few times, her ears flattening in a meek manner. Was Joliette upset that she was there? Licking her lips she looked around but Chubbs was still fast asleep, there was no Billy though, no Billy any where, that in itself was a blessing.

"Uhm hello Colche..." she said, it had been since before the lockdown that she'd seen the girl "Are you ok?" she asks seeing Colche's expression even if the expression lasted only a short time. She'd never seen that expression on Colche before, every time she'd seen her she'd been carefree and happy.

Colche's ears twitched a little he just made one final blue eyed sweep of the room before those somber blue eyes came to rest on Joliette. Her tail tip twitched slightly, and she looked up at the woman, slowly sitting. The bruising was obvious on her chest and abdomen, the places where Billy had held her down were purple blue and obviously sore by her pained movements. "hurty" she mumbled, laying back down again, her muscles were sore, she just wanted to lay down for a little longer.

Joliette's eyes traveled the young woman's figure lighting upon the bruises "whoa... " she blinked, how could someone hurt the girl... To her Colche still seemed the innocent person she'd met so very long ago, even if her speech had improved. Well that explained it, she knew David wouldn't have done it, so he was once again being the knight in shining armour... Least she was pretty sure he was She got up and walked tot he mini fridge and got out some ice sticking it in the first kind of bag she could find and brought it back. "Help the hurts?" she says softly and offers the ice to Colche.

Colche's nose wrinkled as she was offered the ice, what was she to do with that? She blinked looking bemused, she had never been offered anything for her hurts before, she had never had a bruise on the island and the scratch she had gained in the jungle had healed all on it's own. what was the ice for? She tilts her head bemusedly, her eyes still looking rather worried, the prospect of Billy showing up again made her shiver.

Joliette couldn't help but chuckle softly at Colche's expression, she was no doubt the same innocent person Joliette remembered. She sits on the bed "Like this" she says and pulls a pillow case off one of her pillows putting the ice inside so the coldness wasn't so direct and then watching Colche for reaction reached and gently put the ice against one of Colche's bruises.

For a moment the little cheetah girl tensed, though she quickly relaxed again, the bruise didn't feel so sore with the ice pack on it. She smiled, just a little at Joliette, her smile unwilling to touch those usually jovial eyes .

Joliette smiled softly, she didn't know what happened, but whatever it had been she was sure Colche hadn't deserved it, there were only a few people on the isle Joliette believed deserved to be beat up and bruised in the way Colche had and she avoided those people like the plague. She was glad to see Colche smile, even if only slightly and momentarily

The little cheetah girls long tail twitched for a moment as she looked at the ice pack and took Joliette's hand moving it to a different position, the bruise one her abdomen was the sorest, it was also the largest of her bruises. Billy had certainly managed to knock her about and frighten her more than she had been in a very long time.

"You are safe here" Joliette felt the words were appropriate, her mind was still reeling with questions. She hoped she was right about David being a knight, she was sure she was thought. She moved the ice pack and shifted her own position sitting more cross legged in her gi. He tongue flickered as she thought

Colche looked up at Joliette and perhaps in a moment of epiphany she spoke of the night before "Billy hurt.. Chubbs brings here" she smiled again, chubbs was indeed a savior, she was glad he had come walking along. More to the point, she felt safe with the big man in the room, chubbs had never hurt her and he had promised to look after her.

Joliette heard the name, there was no way there was two 'billy's on the isle, she scowled "That gormless plonker... " Joliette says "If I thought he was bad before, now I think he's horrid" If he had been near he would likely get another punch to the gut "Don't worry Colche, he's not here, and we won't let him in"

Colche smiled at Joliette once again a slight purr echoing from her chest, though this stopped quickly, the rumbling caused her muscles to vibrate, they really were extremely sore.

Joliette motions for Colche to take the ice bag, so she could control where it was on her bruises. "Here... they'll get better, the hurts will go away" in time, she adds silently. She knew that the cheetah girl had a LOT of friends there, she had a feeling the man would regret his actions as the others found out

Colche put her hands on the icepack, holding it on her tummy she looked at Joliette with a gentle smile. "had owies before" she states, she knew they would get better, she had been hurt far worse than this in the past, it simply, hurt more that it could happen here.

Joliette frowns and leans on her elbows which rested on her knees, she knew the basics of the girls background "It's not right ... noone should get hurt like this" she says she sighs, she knew how to hurt, but she'd promised herself she only would out of self defense, and so far that had happened three times on the isle, more times in such a short period of time then for a long time before... But she knew she couldn't compare to the girl.

Colche looks up at the woman and sniffles slightly, a few tears rolling down her cheeks "frightened" she stated snuggling in to the covers, what if there was nothing but the darkness for her now? what if this was the beginning of returning to her old life? She wanted to be free, to run and be happy and read and watch dvd's and have friends and family, and maybe, maybe one day a prince. Right now though, she just felt frightened and sore, old memories haunted her usually happy mind.

She lays beside the girl once more "I understand, you are safe now, hey I have an idea, would you like me to go fetch you some..." she paused for a moment thinking what the girl's favorite snack was then it hit her "Chocolate cake... and bring it back here?"

Colche looked up at the lizard girl. She really wasn't hungry, she wanted to go back to sleep more than anything "sleep Joliette" she stated snuggling closer to the older woman now. She really didn't want anything but to sleep and forget about Billy.

"All right, you sleep then, you are safe" she gave the girl a reassuring smile and then looked towards the ceiling

Colche smiled, ever so slightly, happy that she was still in safe company as she allowed her breathing to once again become a rhythmical pattern, dozing off back in to her wonderland.

Joliette smiled and then slipped away she herself was hungry, she knew David would protect Colche...

Fighting For Control

Joliette had left the duplex after Colche had fallen asleep, she had eatten and now she had to focus her frustration, the painkillers still had their effect on her shoulder and it was not bothering her. So now she stood in the entertainment room in a open space away from the TV and the couches, there was really nothing within several feet around her.

She was still wearing the black gi but had at least fixed it to it looked less sloppily put on, her feet apart for balance she stood at rest for a moment, her fist resting near the hip, with the palm facing upwards. She took several deep breaths and then struck out, her arm extending forward in a straight line, wrist twisting as her elbow passed her body, till she completed the punch so that her palm faced to the ground, she was punching thin air but didn't care "Ichi.. Ni... San... Shi... Go... Roku... Shichi... Hachi... Ku... Ju" she counted loudly each number in turn quickly each time she repeated the move hitting nothing but air.

Zach felt mildly better after taking Pyroth's advice on curing his hangover. However, being rid of his hangover didn't rid him of his uneasiness. He had no idea where to even start looking for Avery... he himself hardly knew what he'd been doing while intoxicated.

He didn't feel motivated enough to bother going on another dimly-lit hike through the jungle as he usually ended up doing, so he instead took a look inside the room he was passing. Books? Excellent. He'd missed the ability to be drawn away from reality by a story, now more than ever.

He saw a figure calmly reciting Japanese and punching out in the open space around them. As they moved, he caught a glimpse of a scaly face. It was Joliette. She was a familiar face... in a way.

"Joliette!" he called to her, forcing himself to smile. She could help him take his mind off of his present concerns, hopefully.

"...Shi..." she punched and paused hearing a voice call her name. She relaxed her stance and put her hands together and bowed slightly to Zach "Konnichiwa Zachary" she greets him and then lets her hands drop by her sides.

Zach paused a moment in wondering how to respond to the gesture, then tipped his hat and head a little to her. "We meet again." Not that it was surprising - the island wasn't that large.

After the run-in with Aubrey, his thoughts on transformation had only dropped further, leaving him slightly preoccupied with the question of what he'd become. He wandered over to the couch nearest to her and sat down, brushing his loose sleeve out of the way. He tapped his fingers idly on the couch's handle and looked around, obviously nervous. Underlying all this had been his faint obsessive-compulsiveness. Back in his duplex, he'd spent part of the morning organizing some of his unpacked belongings without thinking. He needed to calm down, but he didn't see that happening.

His wandering attention was fixed again on her. "So you know Japanese?" he asked her suddenly.

Joli wanders towards him "Some, enough that would be needed in a dojo during class"She smiles and stops short of hte male and looked up at him "English and French are my languages prodominately though... You seem somewhat distracted, you ok?" she hoped yet another person hadn't had a run-in with Billy.

He recognized the word, and a thought occured to him. "Ah, self-defense. Have- have you ever needed to use it?"

He shook his head. "Just having a bad day I suppose."

He looked away from her and adjusted the collar of his shirt. He felt uncomfortable thinking about it, but he had to see if anyone knew what had happened to that Avery. "I... I sort of... attacked someone, while I was drunk..." He didn't mention that he'd confused them with Jessica, his ex from a good while back, before that had happened.

"Yeah I have actually, several times over several years back home when I was working.. And 3 times here on the isle... Once against Sabin, Once against Antony and once against that Billy character" she said all names with distaste though more distate was given to Sabin and Billy then anyone in her words. "You did? You don't remember? I hope they are ok if you did" she frowned thinking of his words, she'd not heard of it, so it must have happened to someone she'd not seen in a while

He smiled a little at that, and not a fake one. Attacking Sabin, he could completely understand. Antony, too, in a way - it didn't seem like she got along well with some people. But he was lost as to who Billy was, or what he could have done to deserve a punch to the gut. "Who's Billy? Is he..." He didn't choke on the word like he usually did, but it was still tough to use. "Changed?"

"I hope so too." The smile faded. "It was a guy named Avery. I didn't see him anywhere when I... ah... woke up, so I don't know how he is. I feel awful about it..." For all Zach knew, he could have followed through with the punch he'd aimed before he thought he passed out. He wasn't sure, and wondered what state the poor kid was in.

"He's some irish sounding bloke with rotting teeth and a bad smell, he tried to take my brand new camera from me, and didn't stop when I said stop... so I got him in the gut.. the gormless plonker dropped my camera and broke the lens to it" she makes a face of anger before letting it slide "Avery? I've met him once, he's a nice guy... I hope you find him to talk it out"

Zach couldn't recall anyone who sounded like that. Breaking cameras was bad, though. The guy must have deserved what he got from Joliette as well, though it didn't sound as serious as she must have thought it was. He shrugged. "Thanks. If you see him, tell him I-"

He suddenly felt an itchy feeling from within his nose, and realized the dryness of the island weather had finally caught up to him and his sinuses. As quickly as he could, he dove his hand into a pocket to grap a handkerchief and tilted his head back as far as it could go. "Ugh, sorry," he said, muffled by the cloth now covering his nose. A red spot blossomed on it. "It's a nosebleed..."

Joliette realized he was bleeding a moment late, and she was already upset due to Billy. Her tongue flickered and it brought back that fresh blood to her and she took a few steps back a hand and claws digging ito the arm of a chair "Must keep control.. must keep control... must keep control..." she started saying quiety to herself, lord help her she didn't WANT another Awen incident...

"Joliette, something the matter?" he asked, watching her retreat suddenly. She was framed by bright sunlight flooding in from the open door. Zach saw the tongue, as it was obvious enough in color, and his eyes reflected a little confusion. However, it wasn't until she started muttering and clawing into the furniture that things really seemed to click.

He was bleeding in front of a predatory animal.

The initial shock of realization numbed him, but it faded quickly, leaving him in pure fear. Slowly, carefully, he stood up, a little wobbly due to a lack of balancing. Once on his feet, handkerchief still covering his nose and part of his mouth, his terror immediately sent him running away from her, which meant around the couch and farther into the room. All form of communication between his mind and muscles had been disconnected, save the temporary desire to escape being eaten.

Almost a lost feeling overcame her and her claws dug deeper, her green eyes followed his movement around the room calmly, her tongue flickered again, the beast inside liked the scent of the fresh blood. She was trying her best to stay in control, to not give chase. Lord knew she HATED the feeling she had after Awen in teh forest she didn't want to repeat it

Zach found himself up against a wall of DVDs, and turned around. She was still there, her fingers digging ever deeper into the chair she was next to. Though she appeared undisturbed, a flicker of a presence behind her watching eyes desired blood. His mindless fear only increased.

He felt his breathing quicken purely out of panic and his chest felt tight from it. Hyperventilation, just when he needed it least. He was still holding the cloth to staunch the flow of blood. Grimacing, he shut his eyes, back to the rows of movies. He felt a few careless tears escape. He had no other hand to hide them with. Still, his breathing was faltering and mentally he felt so weak. He barely knew what had come over him at the sight of the predator in Joliette. He just ran. Ran like the coward he was.

He'd never be used to the island. Not if he had to spend every day of his life there running from an early death. Not if a drop of blood could possibly spell disaster in the days, weeks, months he feared would come. More tears found their way down his cheek. His nosebleed was slowing down considerably, but there was no way to stop him from utterly breaking down from his own weakness.

The hyperventilation continued to tear at his lungs, and he found himself slowly lowering to the floor. He didn't belong on the island, and yet here he was sure to stay forever. No doubt they would turn him into easy prey. I'm such an idiot.

"Joli, I'm so, so sorry... I didn't mean to run... I'm sorry..." he gasped between his painful breathing. He didn't even feel the confidence to look up and at her as he spoke. The blood was slowing to a slow trickle. The handkerchief's red stain had swollen enormously by that time.

"When the gale blows, the stiff oak resists and breaks, the flexible willow bends and survives" She closes her eyes, holding hte arm of hte couch now with both hands "I can... keep control..." she seemed to still be trying to steal herself against it, she remembered the words of Ambrose... she could conquer it, be human... she didn't want to give in, not after all she'd done to control it "When the gale blows, the stiff oak resists and breaks, the flexible willow bends and survives" she repeated the words... The words meant to calm her, relax her mind to practise the martial arts she'd learned from her sensai years ago... She heard Zach, but barely, and she was trying her hardest to keep that damned forked tongue from flicking.

Zach continued to sob silently, wheezing a lot in between. His inhaler was back in the duplex, so all he could do was shudder and gasp for air as he sat there against the wall. He could hear her voice like a quiet buzzing in the silence, but he couldn't understand a word. He didn't dare look up to see what Joliette was doing.

He was afraid of the komodo girl.

He removed the handkerchief. The blood flow seemed to have stopped in that short time. His breath still ragged, he crumpled the cloth delicately in his hand, trying to avoid putting his fingers against the reddened part of it. He'd get rid of it later. He figured the bloodstain wouldn't come out of it in the wash, anyhow.

"the flexible willow bends and survives... the flexible willow bends and survives" she takes as deep a breath as she can and then looks towards him, she was regaining control over her beast, and she'd managed not to move... She looked towards Zach "Oh dear" she says seeing his perdicament. She had no idea the male had an inhaler "Uhh need help?" she asked not sure if he'd even answer her, she knew everything that had happened in the past few minutes.

Zach shook his head. He'd ended up halfway in a fetal position, with his legs bent toward his chest and his head down. He was shaking a little, but more from his hyperventilating than from any crying he'd done. Realizing she likely couldn't see him, he spoke up. "N-no..." A cough ripped through his lungs. He needed air.

Forgetting a moment, he replaced the handkerchief back in his pocket. He needed his hand free to get to his feet. The painful tightness of his chest made it hard to move around easily. He tried to calm himself down by emptying his mind, but it failed to empty so easily. With a little embarassment, he looked over in Joliette's direction. What could he say? What could he do?

He really needed that inhaler. As his breathing eased up a bit (though still with a wheeze to it) he moved closer to the chair of the room Joliette was sitting next to as she dug her claws into it. He tore his eyes away quickly enough. He was a little nervous about offering a hand to help her up, in case her claws would accidentally shredded it. "I'm so sorry, Joliette. If there's anything I can do..."

He gave a glance toward the door. He wasn't going to be able to breathe for long without the inhaler. He'd have to leave soon to get it.

"I'll be ok Zachary, it's something I have to learn to control... and it's not easy... You sound like you've had better days... you should go see Delia about it" she didn't know about hte inhaler, she slowly let go of the chair and nodded towards the door, she wasn't ready to leave, she needed to re-focus herself again

He frowned at her statement. but didn't comment further. Psychologically changing seemed almost as awful as the physical changes. "No... I have an inhaler somewhere... I can get asthmatic sometimes..."

Standing in the doorway, he gave a weak wave to her as he left for his duplex. "Take care of yourself." He waited another moment, to see if she would be all right. Then he vanished into the sunlit afternoon.

Joliette walked along the path leading up to the cliffs, she'd not been there for a while, and now she had her camera back, in fact... last she had been there was the day of the explosion. She pauses and turns remembering the blast, remembering taking a photo of it... She shakes her head her tongue flickering and she continued on her way. She was in black Gi bottoms, which were proving far more comfortable then anything else she owned and a white cotton t-shirt which was feeling the warmth of the sun. Over her shoulder her very battered up camera bag which had her equipment in it. It took her a while but eventually she rounded the bend at the top of the cliffs.

Even though the fear Amaya felt had overided her instincts for some time, eventually her iguana side got the better of her. She was starting to feel ill and anemic, a large portion of her screaming for the wonderful sun outside... so reluctantly she had obeyed. Picking a spot that was rather scarce of islander activity, she set for the cliffs and eventually got there. She lay down on one of the nice warm rocks to bask in the wonderful noon sunlight. It was a wonderful feeling... like sleeping an illness away even though she was perfectly awake. Despite her change, she wasn't able to wear much anymore. The less she wore, the better her scales felt. So all that was on her was a black tank top and a pair of black shorts. Her body lay slightly curled and facing the other rocks, her long tail trailing behind her and taking residence over a couple of rocks behind her. Her green eyes were closed and she seemed oblivious to everything around her.

This scene that Joliette came across when she reached the top and came to a stop made her pause and blink. It took a further moment before she put two and two together "Amaya?" she asks, her voice holds an edge of curiosity. Wow, what a difference in the girl... She shifted from one foot to the other, Amaya was the only other lizard, even if a different one, that Joliette know of on the isle, and save for Cass, the only other reptile.

The iguana's eyes snapped open and her head spun around to stare in surprise at Joliette. Her tail gave a quick SMACK of the rocks beneath them out of pure surprise, causing her to wince and look away sadly. "Hey... Joliette." She was amazed that the woman even recognized her... the only things the same were her eyes. Though then again, she was one of the few other reptiles on the island so she was probably a given. Slowly she sat up, shifting awkwardly as her tail found a comfortable position behind her.

"Wow... uhm recent?" Joliette didn't quite know what to say, she felt sorry for the girl. Her tongue flicked as she walks closer pulling her gaze off her to not stare

"N-Not... really. Happened the day before the duplexes opened." Amaya managed to say, running one of her large palms down her head. The spines bent underneath the weight, like some strange mohawk. The very feeling of it made her shiver, her large pink tongue flickering as well.

"So you changed out there too, I'm glad that's over" she sighs still avoiding staring, it was intriguing as much as she didn't want to admit it. She finds a place to sit in the sunshine and does so pushing her bag to one side away from the edge of the cliff

"Yeah..." The girl said simply, for once not elaborating or talking or saying how frightened she was... something was different about her that wasn't just her appearance. She was a lot more quieter, shy, and... scared. Though could one really blame her?

Joliette was silent for a time and looked out over the water before returning her gaze to Amaya "I haven't seen you lately, staying secluded?" she asks quietly, she remembered Awen mentioning running into the lizard girl during the lockout but beyond that had known nothing about how she had been

Amaya nodded with a sad frown, curling her legs to her chest and hugging them. "Haven't had... the best interactions lately. Don't wanna run into new people." She said quickly, her tail sliding through the rocks behind her.

"Yeah Moreau seem to keep bringing more, I've run into two or three new people myself" she sighs "Perhaps their ... interactions, will be better when they realize what is going to happen... I just hope he doesn't bring any more like that gormless plonker billy"

"Billy?" The lizard looked over at her, blinking the green eyes that so matched her scales.

"Irish bloke who I think was high, broke my camera lens, and hurt Colche. If he brings any more here like that guy" she shudders at the thought "Least there's others here to protect, like Ambrose and David"

"What?!" Amaya snapped, eyes going wide. "How did he hurt Colche?!" She could have swore her heart just skipped a beat.

"I'm not entirely sure, she says he's a bad man and that he hurt her, I woke up with her beside me between David and myself, she had bruises all over her abdomen and torso... And she was scared, I could sense that about her." Joliette tried to explain what she knew

The girl just... stared, her mouth agape. After a couple of minutes she found her voice. "Is she alright? Does anyone know what he did to her?" Oh god did he... did he her?! If he did then... she would kill him. Oh how she would kill that b*****d.

"She seems ok, scared, quiet, and healing from her bruises, but she was asleep last I saw her. I'm not sure if he did... She just called him a bad man, I don't think I've ever heard her call anyone here a bad man before... " Joliette wasn't really surprised at Amaya's reaction she knew the girl was a friend of the cheetah girl

Bad man? The time when Amaya had coaxed Colche to sleep from her nightmares immediately came to mind. The bad men she had mentioned. Even though she didn't know exactly what had happened to the poor girl and could only imagine it, imagining such a thing was enough to know what the poor girl had gone through. "Oh my god..." She stood up suddenly and began to pace, her large claws clicking on the rocks beneath her feet. "Oh my god." It seemed to be the only thing she was able to say.

"David brought her to our duplex, it seemed to calm her, even though he's a lot more... furry then he once was. I haven't seen the man since I saw him at the river a few days ago personally" she watches the iguana pace and grew silent

"Chubbs changed?" The iguana stopped pacing and looked down at her. How much had she MISSED sitting inside her duplex all this time?! While she sulked about what she was becoming some guy she didn't even KNOW might've tried to rape Colche? And Chubbs had changed? What else had she missed?! "Is he okay?"

"I think the rage of the beasts is something he's having a hard time controlling, but he seems ok" she rubs her bruised shoulder and upper arm before letting her hand fall

Amaya just watched her for a moment before sighing in defeat. Her shoulders slumped and her tail stopped twitching nervously. "Is Colche still staying in your duplex?" She had to go see her. And Chubbs.

"She was there when I left this morning, whether she's there still now or not I can't say for certain. I'm not even sure exactly when she got there" She admits

"Okay... thanks." The girl nodded and looked around, then back to Joliette apologetically. "I'm sorry to leave you but... I gotta go find her." Hopefully the woman would understand. Colche was like a little sister to her.

Joliette nods "All right, you take care Amaya" she understood, she knew that Amaya was closer to Colche then even she was.

"You too." Amaya nodded to Joliette and then jogged off down the path. She had to find Colche... she had to.

Island of Moreau
A letter is delivered to the top of the dresser in Chubb's and Joliette's room. It seems to be addressed and labeled.

Quote:
Feral Labs Island Facility

Ms. Lily Delaney
Duplex 25
The Village

It's done very official, almost like a check.

When your curiousity does get the better of you, and you open it, you find that it's a check stub. It details specific projects and bonuses that were rewarded to the team of scientists that Lily worked in. Including work on a certain wolverine, grizzly bear, tazmanian devil serum.

It is only a stub of course, as it details the offshores bank that the money was actually delivered to.

Joliette wandered out of hte shower in the duplex she shared with David rubbing her long curly mass of hair with a towel. S letter on the dresser catches her eye "Mail? why would we get mail... noone knows we are here" she muses and walks over picking it up "Lily.. from Feral?" her brow furrows and she puts the letter down for a moment, she'd have to give it to the girl. She wanders away and pulls on her clothing her attention drifting back tot he letter several more times. After a moment of indescision she snaps of hte letter between her claws and leaves the duplex, she headed next door and up to #28 into her dark room though she left the door ajar... She stood inside the door and stared at that letter for a long time... She already had her suspsicions about Lily, though nice enough of a person, the journalistic wheels never stopped turning. A moment later she used a claw and started to pull it open.

Her eyes skimmed the pages she pulled out and widened slightly, her lips persing in a line, especially when it listed the serums Lily had worked on "I knew it...."

After her encounter with Moreau and all the worst possible people Lily is feeling positively terrible. The taunting from ... whoever that man had been when she left makes her a little nervous but for now she hopes that word hasn't gotten too far yet. After the way Chana had reacted she felt bad, and knew now that everyone would find out and she wants to be the one to tell Joliette, not let her find out from some other person.

Goodness knows she's been suspicious enough around her.

When she makes it back to the duplexes, instead of heading for her own she heads for number 28- though she briefly glances past it to number 25 wondering if she should try to get her mail before someone opened it. She doesn't when she sees the door of 28 ajar, and instead heads up the stairs.

"Joliette?" she calls when she reaches the top of the stairs and reaches for the door.

Joliette was engrossed in the contents of the letter, she was still standing several feet inside the door "It's open" she says distractedly, her eyes were skimming the list of team serums again, her yellow tongue flickering a few times

Lily murmurs to herself to work up the courage to admit she's been lying to the one person who she's seen the most and has been friendliest to her. She opens the door and steps into the room.

"I have to talk to you," she says quietly, sounding rather anxious. She eyes the paper that Joli is holding, but doesn't realize what it is right away.

Joliette looks up finally noticing who it was who entered her darkroom 'I would say that would be an understatement' she thinks to herself and then replies "Come on in... How is the... vacation going" she folds the paper and turns wandering over and dropping into her armchair

She gives Joli a nervous smile, staying near the open door while watching Joli move to the armchair. Lily frowns ever so slightly at the mention of the vacation, and clears her throat.

"That's actually what I came to talk to you about," she says finally, her voice lowering a bit when she continues, "I'm not on vacation- er- I wasn't here on vacation, I mean.."

"Oh I know, you worked with serums in the lab" she said in a calm voice pulling her small laptop into her lap atop the folded paper. opening it and powering it up

Lily starts when Joli bluntly tells her she already knows that she worked in the lab, her expression somewhere between surprise and disappointment, "O-oh... well..."

She couldn't even tell Joliette herself, how fast does news travel here? Lily takes a step back toward the door, considering just leaving before she has to face another round of interrogation and accusations, more justly from this person than from the others.

"A question for you Lily" Joliette says tapping away at her laptop "What did you think when that insane doctor wanted a combination of a grizzly, a wolverine and a tazmanian made?" she has yet to raise her voice, it was more... journalistically sound mind to keep calm in these situations, her experience led to further cooperation from the people she wanted information from

She stops in her backing away when Joli suddenly asks her a question, and an unexpected one at that, in an unexpected tone of voice. Her expression changes to a more curious one- is this what she normally does.

"W-what?" she stammers, "I don't know-"

Her mind bounces between wondering at Joliette's reaction and what she'd thought about making a serum that's a combination of three different animals.

"Surely you must have had some opinion about that project, it had to be different from working on any just ordinary serum that passed through your hands" her voice stayed even and she looked up with her eyes though her head remained tilted down and her hands still typing.

"I-it was," Lily says cautiously, still not sure how she should react. Something had to be important about this serum, she can't remember any mention of the recipient of said serum by Joliette, though.

"It was a challenge, I guess," she says slowly in the same cautious tone, "It sounded impossible..."

Maybe being honest now would make up for being dishonest before? But why is Joli asking her these questions? She can almost predict a bad outcome from answering them, for most journalists don't just do 'interviews' for no reason, do they?

"Honestly, I personally would have thought everything happening here was.. impossible" Joliette stops and leans on her elbows which she puts on her legs then rests her hands under her chin "Did you have any predictons in your own mind how it would effect the subject it was given to? you know, like behavioural or the like?"

"I thought so too when I found out," Lily says, shifting her weight on her legs a bit. After her experience with the others, it's unsettling to be dealing with such a calm reaction. Admittedly, they were less accusing kinds of questions than she had before, but so unexpected from bother her own imagination and the experience earlier.

"I didn't really think about that," she responds, again honestly.

"Is this how you normally react to this kind of thing?" she asks suddenly, only brave enough to ask instead of answer questions because Joliette hadn't gotten visibly angry, "By asking questions in that calm way? Is it a habit from being a.. photographer-journalist or whatever?"

She noded and then pondered the returned question for a time... "I'll admit I would have prefered to have learned it from you, and yes calmness always has gotten me answers faster then yelling, I think the saying goes something like 'you atract more flies with honey then vinegar'. I'll also admit that I'm not thrilled about hte factor you worked for that insane man, however to bring people here, or to trap them here was not your doing, you were just crazy enough to go along with making those serums. I hate what I'm becoming, but yelling at you isn't going to answer that, I can't say David will like it or react the way I did when he finds out one of hte persons who made his serum is our neighbour though"

"I tried," Lily murmurs quietly when Joli says she'd have prefered to hear it from her, though she knows that even if she had word would have gotten to her one way or another and she'd know why she decided to tell her. She nods along with Joliette's explanation, easing considerably when she says she knows that yelling won't help anything despite the statement that follows it.

Someone has some degree of understanding, thinking more rationally, not asking why she didn't have moral issues with her job. She could almost start crying, after being so stressed out and then meeting this.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you," she says finally, stepping back to lean against a clear wall, then reconsidering what she said, "No... I'm sorry I lied to you."

"You aren't the first person who lied to me here, somehow I doubt you'll be the last, I don't understand how any of the doctors or labtechs here justify all this, though I'm sure hte git would simply shrug it off, I suppose money has a way of making someone turn and not see. I didn't see Komodo on the list of serums you worked on, so I personally don't believe I have anything directly to hold against you.." she wasn't going to speak for David though "But I'll tell you this so your curiousity can be satisfied... Grizzly, wolverine and tazmanian lend to a rather scary temper... I should know" she reaches up and pulls her shirt sleeve aside showing the still fading but nasty bruise on her upper arm and shoulder

Lily bites her lip at Joli's statements, knowing that she's probably right about the lying and she considers explaining her own experience with it but holds back for now. She thinks about the money- money she'd made and would now never see. Her gaze is away from Joliette by the time she explains the temper the combination serum has given Chubbs, and it's a fit distraction for a moment as she looks to the bruise on her arms and winces.

Then what Joli said hits her. A list of serums?

"Wait," she says, "You have a list of what I worked on? That's how you found out? Where'd you get it?"

Joliette sits silently for a moment and then puts the laptop bck on the desk beside her arm chair and lifts the folded paper, pulls the envelope to the top "Lily Deleny, Duplex 25... you'd think people of that rank aruond here could adress things to the right duplex..." She holds the pepers towards Lily "You got paid hansomly, I can see why a job here would be... attractive"

Joliette lives in Duplex 25? That is much too convenient, and she considers commenting on reading other peoples mail but thinks better of it. She reaches out and takes the papers from Joliette, with a nervous laugh about being able to address a letter.

"I'm sure it got where they wanted it to," she says, knowing it wouldn't be beyond Moreau to do such a thing intentionally after showing up by the river with so many people around- especially when he mentioned how he knew the letter didn't go to the right place.

"The money," she hesitates, "is why I came, I guess- but I didn't know what I would be doing until I got here."

"Well, I live there, and I had wonderings about you for a while now, and David lives there and he's the one who got that serum, so it's not improbable that it was purposeful. Money is attractive, scoops often sell nicely , I would have had that opportunity if the git hadn't fooled me." She pulls the laptop back into her lap looking at hte screen for a moment and typing for a half a minute then saves the file and closes the laptop, she'd show her love the important parts of that letter later

"I'm not surprised," Lily admits, for she has infact been aware that she's been a terrible liar and been acting suspicious around Joli. There's something about how casual Joli is, she still feels uneasy about her calmness and the odd casual typing that was going on when she was being questioned, about one specific thing no less. Directly blaming her or not...

"I'll just go, then," she says, watching as Joli types up something again, holding tight to her mail, "You must be busy..." She doesn't sound very convinced, but her tone hasn't really sounded very confident throughout the conversation.

"Not really, I'd only just got here when you arrived, but I wont hold you here" she stood up her yellow tongue flicked and she walked towards Lily... Had she heard the ruccous earlier she would unlikely have been quite so calm, but.. sometimes it was better to fear the one that was calm, it was hard to tell exactly what was going on in their mind... And Joliette knew this.

"Ok," Lily says, heading back toward the open doorway again, watching Joli approach with a flickering tongue and not feeling any better about it. Has she been too comfortable with her, or is she just being paranoid?

Of course she's being paranoid, several angry people made sure of that.

"Bye," she says, turning and heading out of the door, now eager to get back to her own duplex and just.. hide or something. Two things were taken care of by her visit here, Joli knew and she found the mail that had been delivered to the wrong duplex.

Neither, though, came about how she would have liked.

Joliette watches her leave then scoops up her laptop opening it again and reading what she's typed... a copy of most of the letter that accompanied that stub, thank god for photographic memory and fast fingers... even with those stupid claws which slowed her just a touch, she walks from the darkroom locking the door behind her and heads home to #25 turning off sleep mode settings as she went
