"I need a drink, a shower, and a nap. Not entirely sure if it needs to be in that order... I just need those.

"Well, there's beer in the apartment's kitchen, a shower and a bed, too." She gestured to the side at the open apartment door. "I'll be in the ship if you need me."

"Sir, an unidentified craft is heading into our air-space. It appears to be Kore."

"Hail it, and tell it to cut thrust and prepare for docking. If they don't respond, blow them to hell."

The soldier nodded, and when the ship did not respond, he glanced up at his superior, who nodded, and the soldier pressed the button that fired the weapons.

He paused, and pressed the button again, then a few times more, but nothing happened.

At the superior's order, more weapons were fired, to the same effect.

"What in the fiery blue hell?"

/Oh, right, that would be me

Sara appeared on the screens, walking around the room slowly. /It didn't occur to any of you, or, I suppose any of your superiors, that you should look into what you're downloading from Bowdn? She shrugged, hopping out of the screen as a hologram, growing until she stood at normal human height. /A notable flaw when you consider I'm not in control of a modest 72% of the entire Empire's fleet. She pinched the superior's cheek, or went to the motion of it. /Luckily for you, I'm smarter than your average grunt. Your average general, too.

The screens in the room all lit up with a visual of the ship Pen was on. /My employer, drunk and disheveled as he may be, would take it quite personally if you were to kill the passenger on that ship, and since he's in charge of me, and I'm in charge of your life-support./ Sara smiled widely, letting it hang. /Point is, I'm returning you control of your ship once I've secured control of that one. I don't expect you to press anymore buttons once I've done that, deal?
She didn't wait for an answer, disappearing, the screens and ship functions returning.

"I... I feel violated."

Gautrine's eyes were blinking open as the ship, (assumedly) controlled by Sara, gently landed in one of the Bowdn owned dock stations. Gautrine startled slightly, until she recognized the surroundings. The Bowdn logo, prominently on the wall, caused her to momentarily pause. She stared at it a moment, before opening up the ship and climbing out.

"Sara," She said, the moment her boots hit the ground. Gautrine assumed the AI held some kind of connection to the Bowdn building, as she seemed to with all the others in the past. "Sara, I need you to talk to the earth military. The stone is in control, not Lankin. I think Lankin's dead. They're going to be attacking Jishara, and we need to stop that attack."

Even as she filled Sara in, Gautrine's mind was focused elsewhere, barely paying attention to whether Sara was responding or not. She kept a swift walk as she talked, heading down the stairs of the docking station with increasing speed. "He thinks I'm dead. God, he thinks I'm dead."

By the time she was out of the building, she was at a full out run. No longer listening to Sara, or anyone else for that matter, as she focused on getting to the penthouse.

Eric nodded.
"I likely will, but after today... I really want to just curl up and sleep. And not wake up. Forgot that."

Hattie turned to face him. "Eric, we have other responsibilities. What about Jarred?" Her voice was very tired and near cracking. Her hand went to the jagged scar on her stomach, lightly caressing it as she stuffed her wrench into her back pocket. "We have a responsibility." She said again. She was thinner now, from not food and no sleep, which on her was threatening. She wasn't exactly Model skinny before, but she wasn't fat, either. But now her ribs were exposed just a bit.

"He's gonna drink himself into possible liver failure, have some kind of corrective surgery, an everything will be back to normal. In order to get in to talk to Jarred, I'd have to go through his bodyguard, his AI, and then somehow overpower his drunk a** to sober him up... I highly doubt that I could take on any of those tasks individually, let alone the 'Sober Jarred the ******** Up' gauntlet." Eric looked to her raising an eyebrow, "You okay, babe?"

"You could have Absinthe and Piper help you. They've take up residence in my ship." She wasn't displeased by this. At his raised eyebrow, she gave him a soft smile. "I'm fine. Do I not look fine? I mean, I've been workin' all day and I need a shower, but other than that..." She let it hang in the air.

"You look half starved." Eric rbbed his temples, shaking his head, "Just leave him. If he wants to drink his grief away, he's going to do it. Do you honestly want someone with what he has doing ANYTHING around us drunk?"

((omg....omg we're screwed!!! gonk ))

Svarly let out a long sigh as she looked down at herself on the bed. Either she had been drugged, dropped into some holo-room, or her mind was being messed with. She crossed her arms, and leaned against the wall. "So have I fallen into some kind of rat race for the amusement of some godly variant of a sad lonely little being?" She asked, glancing around, wondering what nonsense her captors were up to now.

((Indeed. And I hear it all comes to a head on Dec. 11, 2012. o.o))

Nothing happened and no one responded, but there was a low murmur of voices in the hallway.

Sara was listening, though she did nothing to confirm it, given there really wasn't any confirmation needed.

Sara then went and did stuff with the military that can be covered later, since it'd kinda detract right now.

The penthouse elevator required an eye-scan to allow access, but Jarred had long since updated her to all of his logs, she was allowed access up.

Pen was raggedly out of breath by the time she reached the penthouse elevator. It took her a second to hold still enough for the eye scan, but in a quick blink the elevator was moving and just as quickly it was done. The speed efficiency of the elevator always surprised her in the past, though for the first time she felt it had taken forever. She was through the doors before it finished opening.

She was part leaning on the double-door entrance of the penthouse as she pushed the door open. "Jarred?" She asked, her voice not much louder than a whisper as she continued to catch her breath. "Shanra, you troublesome man, where are you?" She pulled herself away from the door, stepping into the penthouse she still considered home, despite that it had seen her absence for a good eight months or so.

Gautrine moved into the main room, where she'd once thrown chairs and even the couch at Jarred, during a fit of rage over her mechanical arm and a practical joke. She closed her eyes briefly, following with a whisper. "Be all right, Jarred, please."

Gautrine started up her search again, picking things up and arranging them as she moved through the penthouse. She made no notice to her two intact arms, other than the occasional sensation of a living arm where none had been for over a year. The only sign left of her death experience the ragged remains of her heartstone braid (the one that overshadows the left eye) which had been sliced off by the man who had called for her death. Even her clothes had been replaced. The old ones, too singed and bloodstained to be usable, had been switched out before she'd been sent back to earth for a kore issued uniform similar to what she used to wear.

Other than the braid, Gautrine held nearly an identical appearance to the day that she and Jarred first met, the day he overthrew her battleship and kidnapped her, stuffing the both of them into a ship that was built for holding only one.

Hattie looked down at her stomach. "Do I really look that bad?" She shook her head with a sigh. "Pen wouldn't want him to do this to himself. He's bein' selfish."

Svarly let out a ragged sigh and leaned back, ignoring the image of herself. She didn't care. Whatever these people wanted, she didn't honestly care. She brushed a hand up into her braids, hoping the rainbow haired girl had taken care of Gautrine's funeral. She had seemed the nicer one of the bunch. Svarly closed her eyes, turning inward to focus on nothing rather than watch the scene before her.

Svarly was there, alone and undisturbed, for a long time. The voices in the hallway faded out again, and all was silent.
