Serenity squeezed Gaunt's hand back, then leaned over and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
"Next weekend it is, then," she smiled, her eyes shining brightly. "Shall I meet you here? We have a few portals to pass through to get there, and I don't know how to describe their locations ..."
Not to mention it would be a bit awkward, him suddenly appearing in the main house without an escort.
Ian scooted over to sit beside Prince. "Don't try get up," he told him worriedly, "I don't want you to hurt yourself more."
He looked up at their parents and sighed, tapping one foot on the blanket. "I guess we gotta wait for them ..."

He smiles as he returns the kiss on the cheek and he nods slowly. "Alright, here sounds good." He smiles softly, then blinks when he feels some impatient stares coming their way. He sees their 'childern' staring at them. He laughs and he shakes his head. "I think they're trying to tell us they want something."
Prince frumped. "That's right! We're hungry from our adventure! We shouldn't be kept waiting since we just saved the world and everything!"

Serenity laughed aloud at Prince's vehemence, and she slipped her hand out of Gaunt's and moved to open the containers and free the desserts inside of them.
"You know," she giggled, "every hero has their fatal flaw, the one thing that will bring them down if they're not careful." She winked at Prince. "I think yours just might be impatience."
She was teasing, but she was also trying to teach him at the same time. It wasn't like they had to wait very long, after all. Still, she moved quickly to cut a few slices each of the cake and pie.
"What would you like?" she asked Prince first. "Rainbow chip cake, or blueberry pie?"
"CAKE!" Ian squealed, jumping to his feet and throwing one arm in the air as if he knew the answer to a question. "Cake for me!"
Serenity shook her head at Ian. "Prince first," she said firmly.

Gaunt chuckles softly as he sticks to the sidelines. She probably was right, but weren't all children usually impatient? At least a lot of them. They had the idea that the world revolved around their needs - just some never grow out of it and turn into questionable adults.
Prince pouted a little and he nodded slowly, shifting and poking his fingers together a little self-consciously. "Okay. I'm sorry." He blinks and he smiles as the thought of dessert overcame his feeling-bad. "I want pie, please!"

Serenity smiled and nodded, then placed a Surprise-sized piece of pie onto a tiny plate and passed it to Prince, then handed him a tiny plastic fork- the type usually bought for little girls to play house with. But it was the proper size, so who cared?
"I hope you like it," she said warmly. "And now ... cake for Ian ..."
She cut Ian a piece of cake the same size as Prince's pie, then gave it to him as well.
"And Gaunt?" she asked, turning to him and tilting her head towards the desserts. "What would you like?"

He laughs softly and he winks at her, a silent response before he decided on what he wanted for desert. "Mmm. I do love blueberries, so I think I'll have some pie, thank you." He smiles warmly at her.
Prince missed the little.. teasing that was going on above him. He just munched happily on the pie, some of the dark blue thick liquid smearing around his lips.

Serenity understood what Gaunt meant, and she giggled softly and blushed, choosing not to reply until after she had cut him a rather sizable slice of pie and handed it over to him on a paper plate.
"Here you are," she smiled, her eyes dancing brightly. "I hope you like it."
Ian had discarded his fork and was eating his cake with his bare hands. He had a rainbow bit from the icing on his cheek, but he didn't notice it. He loved cake ... and he didn't care how messy he got while eating it.

He smiles softly, waiting for Serenity to serve herself before he make himself comfortable with her. "Mmm. I think I'd like to eat it up." It was more teasing, but it was disguised so it would fly over the Surprises' heads. He winks at her one more time before he started to eat the pie. It must have been one good paper plate if it didn't collapse under the weight of the pie.
Prince saw the mess and crawled over, careful not to put weight on his foot, and gave Ian a big kiss on the cheek to clean up the frosting. Aww, how sweet.

Serenity blushed even redder as she cut herself a piece of the blueberry pie. She sat next to Gaunt, near enough the boys that she could help them if they needed, and made herself comfortable, sitting cross-legged with one leg brushing against his.
"It's my first attempt at blueberry pie," she murmured, trying not to let his teasing get to her, "so I apologize if it's not as good as you hope."
She was better at making main courses, Skye was the one who had a talent for making desserts.
Ian giggled at Prince's actions. "Gross!" he laughed. "I'm not licking the pie off your face!"
But he took a handful of the icing and smeared a white stripe down Prince's nose.

He chuckles softly as he lays off the teasing, for now, nodding. "It looks wonderful. And Prince isn't complaining. So I'm positive it's great." He smiles warmly at her as he starts at the crust. He wasn't much of a crust person, so he usually finished that off first before he started with the pie itself.
Prince laughed as he took some of the blueberry jelly stuff and returned the smear to Ian. "Hah!" He giggled. "And I'm not gonna help you clean that up this time!"

Serenity giggled softly and began to eat her pie. "Just don't tell me it's good if it isn't," she instructed him. "I can't improve if I don't know I have to."
She liked how the crust on this one was nice and moist ... she had tried hard to get that.
Ian squealed and fell back, leaving white handprints on the blanket. "Good!" he exclaimed. "I don't care if I'm all messy!"
He smeared his hand in the blueberry jelly and licked it off his hand. "Yum!" he grinned at Prince.

He chuckles softly and he nods slowly. "Alright, I'll give you a full review after I'm done." He smirks lightly at her, then laughs as he watches the two boys have a mild foodfight. It was amusing. "Well, it looks like the boys are still having a lot of fun."
Prince laughed and he rubbed the frosting off his nose and he licked it off his hand. "Mmm! Its sweet!" He grinned back at Ian before he turned his back to tug his plate over, so he could finish his pie.

Serenity giggled at the boys. "Mama would never have let us do that when we were younger," she laughed. "But I don't have the heart to break it up."
But it looked as though they were finished, each of them returning to their own food. She smiled and shifted slightly, accidentally bumping Gaunt's arm and making him smear blueberry on his own face.
"Oh dear," she blushed, "I'm sorry ..."
Ian kept licking his hand. He loved blueberries - just like he loved every kind of food. He wasn't interested in a food fight anymore... he just wanted to eat the sweetness that was his.

Gaunt blinked when he found himself with a face full of blueberry and blue jelly. He blinked a few more times before a grin spread across his face and he looked at Serenity. "You're sorry, huh? Just what do you plan on doing about this, then?" He chuckles softly and he grinned at her, his eyes twinkling mischievously at her.
And so Prince went back to eating his pie. He loved blueberries too, like he said, and he still had most of his still to eat. Yummy good stuff.

Serenity's blush deepened, but she smiled her own mischievous smile. "Well," she murmured, setting her plate down carefully, "I suppose that since it's my fault you're so messy now, perhaps I should be the one to clean it up?"
She raised one eyebrow playfully and shifted so that she was kneeling instead of sitting. "What do you think, is that fitting?"
