Raelise took a deep breath, trying to hold onto her patience. The fact that it took conscious effort to remain calm was... worrying. "That is what we have been sent to do," she affirmed, "Any details you can remember about this creature would be useful."

So they were moving then? Zywynran once more took up the rear obediently. For once he was quite willingly quiet, keeping his ears open to the conversation between Raelise and Klang. Gathering information was like second nature to him and he immediately turned an ear when words of interest were spoken in his vicinity. Especially when some of those words were spoken with a thick, Dwarvish accent which was a tad more difficult for him to understand. Not that Klang seemed to be one for much talk.

The dwarf sighed. "Wot dae ye expect? We're in a tight spot, in de dark! Come 'round dae corner, it did. All I 'member is wot it was big! And spoke in a slithery voice."
He thought a moment more. "Aye, and it moved fast for bein' big as it wos."

Raelise filed this away for future reference. "Thank you," she replied quietly, "Perhaps, since you cannot see in the dark, you would be more comfortable toward the middle of the party." She certainly didn't want him to run straight into a talking spider. If someone had to it was better that it be her or Zywyran, since they would actually be able to see what they were doing. Hope was good, but definitely couldn't see, and the child-- Oh, that was right. "Hope," she whispered over her shoulder, "You may use the lantern, now."

With relief, Hope opened the catch. Her leg had been getting rather hot.
A Bebilith! "Just wonderful! A heavy with speed and poison. It wouldn't be so bad if we were out in the open. On the otherhand, maybe we can figure a way to use this," waving her hand vaguely around, "to our advantage."
"I do not know anything about a Bebilith's eyesight though. Do any of you know if they see in the dark or if they are sensative to light?"
Turning to the dwarf she continued, "You said spider's plural. I'm assuming there was only one Bebilith. How many of the others? How big were they? Or, more precisely, what kind of threat are they compared to the Bebilith? Is there ANY possibility they were it's babies?"
Hope barely dared breath as she waited for the answer to her last question. She had no idea how new Bebiliths were made, but she prayed that Valin'Carneth was with them, and that they did not have a nest of Bebiliths with a mamma on their hands.

The dwarf shook his head. "Them don't even 'ave eyes. Magical, dem is. They are creations. Kinda like smart golems, or somethin', Don't think dem demons woulda create somethin' that could breed outa 'and."

Raelise just listened, both to the conversation behind her and to any sounds ahead; the more she heard, the more she didn't want to walk into any sort of trap. This was outside of her area of expertise, anyway. She had nothing to add.

Discussing tactics Hope was all business now. "Alright, we've got some good news with the bad. The smaller spiders can probably be taken out quick and easy as they come. Our main focus then, is this Bebilith.
"That's the bad news. I have a rough idea of how we can take it out, but it's a demon and I don't know how much like an actual spider it is. Though I do know a little about it's tactics from friends of mine," she shrugged, "but then, who knows if that applies every time? I've never fought one and I'm assuming you two haven't either.
"Does anyone know; one, how well it sees in the dark and what it's reaction to light is, and two, is it's poison sacks in it's fangs, claws, or a stinger somewhere?"

"I don't rightly know about light, but I do know them keeps poison in its fangs. Nasty bite it is, took out me friends in 'most an instant." Klang pointed to a pile of bones across the room.
"Right fast, it is."

Very intense now, Hope proceeded, "Well, poison fangs is more good news. OK, here's my idea. And I will admit it is based partly on what I have heard of Bebiliths and partly on what I know of real spiders so there are risks.
"I have heard that Bebiliths set their sights on the first thing that moves and do not notice anything else around them until that thing is dead or something else attacks them.
"So, we find a place in the tunnels that is narrow and hard to navigate for a large creature. This place must also have another tunnel coming off of it, the same size or smaller, though not bigger unless we have no choice.
"Two of us will be the prey. We will lure the beast past the side tunnel where the others will be. We do not need to attack the thing, only get it to follow us and survive. Once past the tunnel, the others will come out and be behind it. If it does manage to turn, the point is, the tunnel is to narrow for it to get past either group without fighting them.
"Whichever group is in front, again, only has to survive while the group in back hacks away at it's butt. If it is anything like a real spider, if we drain enough of it's butt, it will die.
"I recommend myself and Zywynran as bait. I can keep the light on as it won't interfere with anything and keep the Bebilith at bay, while Zywynran watches my back and kills any of the smaller spiders that come around. Klang's axe should make short work of this thing on the other side. The others watching his back, Raelise getting in blows when there are no small spiders around and the child watching out for them for her.
"My sword will be limited in the confined space, but this shouldn't matter too much as I'll only be defending from the front or attacking from behind."
