I like Chatot, but not as much as Pidgeot.
It would be better if it had an evolved form.
Your boyfriend seems kinda nice since he gives you all these pokemon. XD Well Chatot was the first flying poke that I actually really like that I could get. And for my Ty, I wanted more fire pokes in my other game because up till the league, you could only really catch ponyta and if you want another fire poke, you have to get the starter one. ^^; I see. Well, Chatot is still pretty cool. :]
Yeah, that kinda sucks 'cause I don't like Chimchar much and Ponyta you can only get after you beat the 2nd gym, which is when you actually need a fire-type. I squeaked by with Staravia because I chose Piplup as my starter.
At least in Platinum there will be more fire-types in the National Dex. Yeah. It really sucked. It was driving me nuts with the lack of fire pokes in that game. The only other place you can get some is Stark Mtn...Prolly one of the reasons why Heatran is one of my favorite 4th gen pokes. Haha yeah, Heatran. I thought that thing was scary. I thought I had captured all the legendaries in the game when my bro was like, "Uhh, you don't have Heatran."
Because I avoided the Battle Zone like the plague because I ALWAYS failed at the Battle Tower.
When I captured it, I thought it was really easy compared to Regigigas and Giratina. It only took me 10 Ultra Balls to capture her. XD I don't like battle tower too much...and catching Giratina...*glares at it* it wouldn't stay in the damn ball...I had issues catching Gira. But it's one of my favorites too lol.

I've never been to a pokemon event before, so I have no idea what to do xP And will you hafta fight Shaymin and catch it like normal or does it just join the team? (I'm probably thinking of the Shaymin that you meet in Flower paradise... I think one of the shaymin came on a wonder card but I don't know which one..)

I don't think you can name it. It doesn't have your OT or ID#.
Any nature is good for it's land forme (base stat of 100 for ALL of them), but for sky forme, it's best stats are SpAtt and Speed. Both it's defensive stats are lower though. Attack in sky forme is only slightly better than it's attack in land forme.
Either way, I'm prolly going the neutral route.
And you can ask me. I can show you the basics. Though, I can't help you with IV breeding. It sucks. :P
And if you want, Kyren is AWESOME at breeding. He gives out advice too.
