Mull blinks and looks up at the statement, running his hands quickly over his face before shaking his head. "No... I-it's fine... I probably need someone to yell at me and tell me when I'm being stupid... It hurts, but... in the end, it should help, right...?" He mumbles, ears flicked back against his head.

Asher's eyes slid away from Mull and slowly closed. He did not turn to face the hybrid. "From what you have told me, having no one here to deride your shortcomings has actually done you some good. You are becoming self-reliant. Is that not so? Why then would it help you to receive such verbal abuse?"
Of course, coming from this particular person, it probably sounded a little strange.

"Because, I may be more self-reliant on my own, but if, oh, say, someone were to do this exact same thing if we ever did go see this Shelby person, it would make me backslide if I didn't make myself immune to it, right...?" He nods, finding that this did indeed make more sense to him. "But.. If you want to leave now, feel free..."

A barking laugh issued from the coon. Shelby attacking someone, that in itself is an amusing thought. "I doubt he would pose that kind of problem. If anything he would gut you and leave you to bleed to death, never bothering to see how things ended. As for 'this kind of thing'," he sighed, "that was not my intention, that is simply how I am. But if deliberate abuse is your desire then I do indeed wish to leave." He started back for the door, "I will return with Shelby when you are ready for his assistance." He paused and glanced back at Mull, the derision very plain in his voice, "Then I do hope that you will consider the debt owed to my household, and therefore myself, paid."
(( And I'm thinking Mull will assume that Asher will want nothing to do with him after this. e.e;

Mull flinches the slightest bit at the others words, then looks back down at the ground. "Just... forget it... Consider the debt over with then.." He murmurs, tails curling the slightest bit between his legs. "If you are going to leave, then just... stay gone and leave me alone. I'll do my best to make sure he doesn't bother anyone ever again on my own." Which, of course, could mean anything at this point. He turns his back to the vampire, looking at the counter in front of him once again, where the meat he had smashed earlier still lay splattered before him.

"Have you decided what will you do if he does come back? And have you decided what you will do when you are separate from him?" This time Asher was merely asking out of curiosity. With this whole situation, he was still poking around in the dark as much as Mull was. Of course he had wondered what the other Mull would do on his own, but he had had little chance to speak with that one, let alone ask.

Mull looks over at Asher again, then shrugs. "If you're going to leave, it shouldn't matter to you what happens to me or him, now should it?" He asks, tails swishing the tiniest bit. "If you have to know, I'll handle it myself, and you don't need to know the details." He murmurs, looking up at Asher again.

Asher's eyes narrowed slightly. "Of course, you are quite right," he replied quietly and bowed in a courtly fashion before turning to leave. "Good-by, Mull."

Mull sighs, watching Asher turn and head towards the door. "Ah... Good luck with whatever you choose to do..." He says, ducking his head slightly in return to Asher's bow.

Mull listens for the sound of the front door closing. Hearing it, he sighs and sits down on a stool near the counter, burying his face in his hands. "I'm such a ******** idiot..."

"Wow, you two really are a lost cause. I mean, where else will you find two people more adept at saying the opposite of what they're thinking?"
Asher growled as Shido appeared seemingly from nowhere, after jumping down from the roof where he had been reclining, and listening, and shaking his head. "As usual, you were not invited and yet still you came."
"Asher." The unicorn followed as the coon started off away from Mull's castle-like home. His tail swished, though not nearly as agitatedly as Asher's. "Certainly I am not the best person to consult in these matters but you don't really have anyone else. And in my opinion you two are making a mistake."
"What mistake? He is obviously doing better on his own. Whenever I am around he takes two steps backward, as the saying goes. The mistake was returning to this place."
Shido shook his head. "No. I don't think so. He's only improved because he was forced to."
"And what is wrong with that? Everyone needs to learn independence."
"Maybe. But everyone needs someone. He doesn't have anyone. Nobody visited him in your absence. He was completely alone. Not even vampires are completely alone, at least not all of them. Not you or I. And he's still practically a child, even by mortal standards. Even so... he survived, but that's all he did."
Asher growled lightly in annoyance. "That still does not change what I said. He needs to find someone else to hold his hand."
"He doesn't have anyone else! And neither do you." Shido sighed. "Look, obviously you can just go back home and stew about it and be lonely for the next fifty years. Nothing I say or anyone says can force you to do anything. You're too stubborn."
But you'd both still be alone. That was the part Shido had left unsaid. "I despise you."
Shido chuckled. "Coming from anyone else I might believe it." He shrugged. "Hey, in life you come across people for a reason. Maybe you won't know it right away but... most people don't live very long. And you only live once, right?"
"And you should talk," Asher grumbled.
"Maybe not, but I'm just saying it how I see it. You get to make this decision on your own." Shido smirked and disappeared into the night.
But Shido was free to leave once his piece had been spoken, and Asher was left to consider what he should do. He was right. It would be easier just to leave, a notion he had been toying with from the start, even when he said he would not. That in itself was a disservice to Mull who could not possibly know what to think. He sighed and slipped around to a place where he could see in through the kitchen window and remain hidden. Mull looked upset, obviously, but even now Asher was not sure why.

Mull shakes his head and glances over at the fridge out of the corner of his eye. "I need a drink.." He murmurs to himself, slowly standing up and opening the fridge, rummaging around until he finds the large bottle of vodka he had left there a couple months ago. He stares at the bottle for a moment, then takes the cap of and takes a large swig.

A witness to the hybrid's search for alcohol, Asher hissed softly and silently climbed a tree nearby. There was no doubt in his mind that this slide was entirely his fault, but it was equally his opinion that there was nothing that would be done face-to-face. There was just so little they were on the same wavelength on, nothing that could be said or done that would be viewed the right way. Leaning back against the trunk, he did what he knew could be done and that was to keep an ear out for Mull. It was going to be a long night.

Mull mutters to himself as he drinks, slowly slumping further and further down off the counter before he finally ends up on the floor, a giggling mass of drunken hybrid, bottle still clutched possessively in his hands.
