StabbingEctasy Paracket I'm currently reading a story in Japanese called The First Night. It's really good, I'll put the first page up on here if anyone wants to read it. It has a lot of good grammar points and vocabulary. １ページ： こんな夢を見た。 腕組をして枕元に座っていると、仰向きに寝た女が、静かな声でもう死にますという。女は長い髪を枕に敷いて、輪郭の柔らかな瓜実顔をその中に横たえている。真白な頬の底に暖かい血の色が程よく差して、唇の色は無論赤い。到底しにそうには見えない。しかし女は静かな声で、もうしにますとはっきりいった。自分も確にこれは死ぬなと思った。そこで、そうかね、もう死ぬのかね、と上から覗き込むようにして聞いて見た。死にますとも、といいながら、女はぱっちりと眼を開けた。大きな潤いのある眼で、長い睫に包まれた中は、ただ一面に真黒であった。その真黒な眸の奥に、自分の姿が鮮に浮かんでいる。 I can continue if anyone wants, as well. I could read all the Hirigana, I knew naka, miageta, and shiro, and I recognized a few more but I couldn't remember how to pronounce them or what they meant. All I wanted to do when I first started learning was learn new grammar points. Now, I know what the words are doing, and how they relate, but I don't know what they are! =P And a bit later, I can break down each couple of sentances, with meaning/pronounciation of the kanji.

I actually know quite a few words in romanji,but I don't know their kanji because I learned them from watching a bunch of anime. So now whenever I see knaji, I like to see the romanji along with it so I can match up the romanji with the kanji, which allows me to learn those new kanji.

Okays, all you better speakers than me, I need to know how to tell somebody you are a vegetarian in Japanese, because I looked it up in my dictionary and it wasn't there. Unless there isn't a word for vegetarian, and you just have to say you don't eat meat or fish? Anybody know? Thanky

Can anyone send me a decent sized volcabulary list in kana? And perhaps the kanji as well? My volcab. is extremely limited and I can't learn anything in roumaji. My brain just tends to reject it. I can change roumaji to kana and vice-vers however, but it takes a while for me to do it.

Where are you getting this from? It looks very familiar. I know learning kana is essential, I just have been watching Japanese anime and listening to Japanese Rock and Pop before I was really serious about learrning Japanese. I also am teaching myself Japanese at a very slow rate and the kanji take longer for me to learn. I've never heard of furigana. For me, I like to see things in the kanji, with the romanji, and with the english translation. I wasn't saying that I didn't want the kanji, but that I wanted to know what the kanji meant and how to pronounce the kanji. And I don't know what you mean by "where am I getting this from". I don't know what you're talking about that looks familiar.
