Thinking a moment on what's been said so far Ontaros ventures another prod at the problem at hand. "Considering what you've told me then, if you've found balance, I wouldn't think you'd need to use too much to keep them under control, unless there is, lets say, a third dimension to the scenario. So perhaps then lets say that you've got the top and bottom contained, simply by having these powers within you, side to side these two lean on one another so that dimension is covered as well, but what about the front to back? With the two of them leaning on one another, and with energy being more of the fluid sort than a solid, the added pressure perhaps is straining what is there, or perhaps it's simply pushing it's way out where there's nothing to hold it?" He tips his head slightly "Or I suppose another theory would be that in the grand scheme of things the two forces are equivalent but the flows and rhythms are not in sync and thus become unstable? Where one contracts the other does not expand or vice versa and the effort you exert on them is simply to minimize the fluctuation... That could certainly be bothersome as well."
Blinking and arching an eyebrow he asks "The effort you put into maintaining your equilibrium, can you really feel or tell what it is your doing to the power or is it simply something that's come to you naturally, like with you're heart beating? You don't really think about it or know how it happens but it does, and in doing so requires an effort from your body?" He was getting more and more fascinated by the minute.

Rune smiled. "I don't need to keep them in balance so much as ah... keep them separated. You see, these two magicks, it isn't like oil and water. It's like baking soda and vinegar. When they come in contact with one another, they react, badly." She held up both of her hands, one enveloped in a shimmering silver aura, the other in a swirling black one. "I had to learn how to keep them in control. It's something I do consciously, but automatically now. You know, like how you can walk and chew bubble gum at once - you're so used to the action it isn't hard to keep remembering to put one foot in front of the other." She put her hands together and the two magicks began to roil, their movements spastic and violent. "When I first came into my abilities it was at a point of my life when I had no one to teach me to control it. I don't think you can understand what it feels like to have your own soul try to tear itself apart, but that's what was happening. I was only a child."

After thinking a moment and considering Ontaros nods slightly. "You'd be surprised. I think I can appreciate the feeling, though it wasn't on a magical level so much as a spiritual level..." He sighs a little, this was one of Ontaros's few secrets that he prefered to keep, but he felt perhaps he could share this one this time... "While I will say I was a decent bit older than you were when the problem came about, slowly but surely I realized that there were two different desires housed in one vessel, to some degree relevant to what you're talking about now. I was a man divided and I couldn't figure out what to do, I studied, trained, thought, worried... I looked and looked for a solution to my problem but I couldn't find one for the longest time... My heart beat for the soul purpose of learning more about, and wielding magic... That's all it wanted, but my spirit leaned more towards tradition, my soul wanted to be in touch with the earth and it's surroundings. Part of me always wanting to go further and further outward and part of me always inward. I found a solution, and there are days that I question whether what I did was right or wrong, but regardless I have to live with my choice. We split. Because I couldn't take it any more, the body you see here left the soul. Where there was one, there is now two. On this end I feel I've done the best that can be to fill in that other half, which I had to do something about it quick since a body doesn't last long without it's soul, conversely a soul also does not last long without a body. It's to my knowledge that my other self has managed to use the elements to construct his body, where I have pulled from the Weave to fashion a 'soul' if you will."
Taking a moment and looking at the ground, trying to gather his thoughts, he finally looks back to Rune "I have to say this much though, I admire your strength and decision to embrace both sides to their fullest, together, instead of running away from the conflict. Makes me wonder where I would be if I'd learned out to cope with the problem instead of choosing what I had." He smiles to her a moment before his eyes drift off down and too the side.

Rune looked quite intrigued with his story, and was rather surprised at the outcome. "Incredible. I'm not sure I understand why magic and the earth have to be mutually exclusive - I was brought up to believe quite the opposite, my magicks if anything make me more in tune with the world... not that I'm making little of your dilemma!" She added quickly, not wanting to offend her host. "I'm sure it depends on the nature of said magic and the environment in which you grew up but... still, I don't think I've ever heard quite such a creative method of solving such a problem." She smiled warmly at him and then shook her head. "As for my own predicament it was less a choice and more a matter of circumstance. When I was found by..." she paused trying to find a delicate way to phrase it. "... people who were interested in developing my talents, they were more interested in my vampiric and illusory magicks than the other. But my life magic was a link to my mother that I refused to lose and so I wound up developing them both evenly."

Ontaros nods "That is indeed true, there are magics of the earth, but the magic that I wanted was energy of the arcane, the power of pure mana, of no real element. That kind of magic is more fluid than the rest because it can simply do what ever is asked of it. Fire elemental magic can not freeze, it' can simply warm or ignite or produce raw light, where as wind elemental magics are not capable of burning, not on it's own atleast. Arcane can fit any mold, it can rise to any challenge so long as the one who wields it has the talent and creativity to use it so. It's unearthly and in the eyes of some... more specifically my tribe, has no business in this world because it's not natural. You certainly were right to nurture them both. In the least I feel that one thing I did make a good decision on was balancing what I have left, my spells can only go as far as my mind and body will allow them to so I train all of them frequently."
It takes a moment but something seems to click and his mouth drops open just a bit "You.... uhhhh." he makes something of a face trying to find the best choice of words. "You don't think I'm trying to 'develope' your talents do you? I get the feeling that you don't think too kindly of those people that did, and I'm guessing by how gingerly you addressed it, they were magically inclined much like myself..." He winced a little bit at the last part.

Rune smiled warmly and shook her head, chuckling softly. "Ontaros, my ill will towards the ones who found me has nothing to do with their influence on my magicks." To illustrate the point more succinctly then words could ever manage she turned in her seat and slipped off her coat, exposing her back to him. It was a latticework of scarring, some seemingly by whips or lashes, others looking suspiciously like scratches. "I very much doubt you are anything like them."

Ontaros nods quietly, not really sure what to say other that simply "I'm sorry you were put through that. That sort of 'training' doesn't bring any good to the world or even to the people involved... But this much I will say, so long as I'm around if you need help or you're in trouble, know that I will do any and everything necessary help and protect you."

Rune chuckled softly and shook her head. "First of all it was a long time ago and - not to condescend - but someone my age doesn't really need protecting anymore. And secondly, these had nothing to do with training, but that's another story for another time." She shrugged her coat back on, then turned to give Ontaros another warm smile. "I'm sure I'll be safe enough here."

He smiles "Alright, I'll trust you on that since I know it's not polite for a man to ask a woman's age." With a shrug he continues "But there is no telling what you may face in the future, just please remember I believe my friends deserve nothing less than the best and I'll do what I need to to ensure that." Punctuating his statement he nods mater-of-factly.

Rune laughed softly and shook her head. "Well I'm flattered to be considered a friend so quickly." She stood and stretched a bit, running a hand through her hair. "Well, I hope you don't mind my cutting this conversation short, but I think I'm going to turn in. I haven't been sleeping much these last few weeks, I'm rather tired."

Being unable to sleep in spite of everything, even after the twitching stopped, Tryan had left his room again. He made his way as quietly as possible to the doorway, but lurked just outside, like a kid that had snuck out of bed. He arrived just in time to see Rune slipping her jacket back over her shoulders but had not really heard or seen anything that was meaningful to him in any way.

With a warm laugh he replies "Aww come now, if you give it a little time you'll get used to no sleep at all." He stands up and spreads out his arms "Take me for instance, I haven't slept in.... well lets just say it's been more decades than I care to recall since I've last slept, I just keep too busy I suppose. Take care and sleep well though, if you need me I'll be in the training room, I'm sure Cinder and Sasha are waiting to get their talons and claws into me by now." he laughs again, still smiling. "If you need directions call for Byron, he'll do just as good as me in a pinch, atleast up here. Hmhmhm." His eyes jump from Rune to the doorway and he grins. "Good morning Tryan!"

OOC: =P lol you are silly. I'm just stopping by now to say hi, and good night to you ^ ^
BIC: Tryan didn't know what was going on, but it wasn't super interesting. He had just made out, and translated, their comments about sleeping when Ontaros called to him. Startled, he jumped and skittered back the way he had come. He was determined now to get some rest before he left his room again.

Rune smiled to Ontaros and chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Sleep is something I relish, having been deprived of it far too often in my younger years." She gave him a small bow before turning in the direction of the stairs. "See you later Ontaros!" She said with a wave, her eyes landing on the hall just in time to see Tryan skitter away again. At this she shook her head, but went down the hall and picked a room at random, locking her door behind her and falling down on the bed to sleep. It would do in its default form for tonight - tomorrow she'd see about personalizing it.

Rune emerged from her room humming softly to herself, her hair still wet from an apparent shower. She had somehow managed to dress even less modestly than the previous day, this time only clad in her pajamas which consisted of undergarments and a halfway buttoned men's dress shirt. She'd spent the morning redecorating her room with the book Ontaros had mentioned, but now that she was done she thought she might get something to drink and perhaps explore a little more.
