"It will be a difficult task, to overcome the dark lord. But the defeat of Adelheid will bring peace to the land once more. This is why I honed my skills over water, even as a simple market boy. So that I would be prepared, if this day ever came."
Flint knew the man was right. He was not fast enough to send the man to his grave. But he had to try and at least injure him. He quickly touched the end of the man's scythe, turning it red hot. Using the chance to grab his blade, he thrust it at the man's chest. But Flint fell to his knees on the wet stone. He looked down at his own chest, which was punctured by a dagger being held by the water man. It must have been hidden. He fell onto his side as his blood began to mix with the water on the stone ground. Everything went black. I've failed you my queen.

Xavier followed Keyla, listening to her words whislt also trying not to run into any Earthen soldiers. The injury on his foot started to make him limp even more so. As they reached the medics hut and Keyla began to walk away, Xavier grabbed her wrist gently to stop her for a second. "Wait a sec, how bout I cook you something, you know to properly thank you for what you have done" He softly smiled at her while sitting on a small chair.

Keyla blinked and looked back as she felt her wrist being grabbed in a gentle manner. She turned a little so she was facing him, with her free hand on her hip and tilted her head as Xavier suggested he would cook her something. That made her blink again. She really didn't think she had done that much. She smiled, "Umm.. alright then.. but there isn't really that much to say thanks for, you know." She gave the center of his forehead a light poke. "Well.. I guess I'll be waiting outside then." She chuckled and did just that.
It must have been Devon's lucky evening. The tavern she was at right now, was one where it seems brawls and such appeared at least once every day. Right now, there were two men, probably drunken blacksmiths that seemed to argue about who made the best weapon, that were fighting in the tavern. Devon watched this with amusement. She had always found it odd and interesting how some people could get agitated over less than nothing, especially when drunk. From time to time, she would place heat under the men's feet, only to see them jump away from that spot on the floor with such a surprised and almost frightened looks on their faces. Each time she would chuckle silently to herself and the raven on her shoulder. She blended in rather well yet something about her stood out in a crowd.

Thalon left Shane to his devices, mumbling something incoherent under his breath. He looked back up to Alaura’s house within the trees, spotting her just as she moved away from the window. There was a gaunt, ghostly look to her and Thalon could almost see how thin she seemed. Her strength was fading, he just knew it, but there wasn’t a thing he could do. Sighing heavily, he forced himself away from her home, giving her time to rest without worry while he moved about the camp, readying the men to leave. The sun was beginning to rise higher into the sky, and he knew that if they didn’t leave soon there was a greater chance of being caught.
Alaura found herself moving away from the window, shuffling back towards her bed and sitting down. Her body felt thin and weak, as if she were aged twenty years and her body simply couldn’t handle the weight of her role. However, as she looked up to see her feathered friend once more perched in the corner of the room, she offered a small and weak smile to the bird. <”I think at last my work has caught up with me, my friend.”> Her eyes, despite the creases caused from her smile, shone with an inner sadness she had long since pushed back. Always in her life she had felt an empty void left in the wake of her parents’ deaths. It was because of that tragedy that she had pushed herself so far beyond her limits, if only for the chance to bring down the man ultimately responsible for such things.
Those emerald orbs moved slowly until they found her beloved sword, a weapon she had had all her life. The sword was far too big for most women, but Alaura had thrown her very soul into the mastery of the large weapon, refusing to give it up. She didn’t know the full story behind it, but evidently it was something her parents had always wanted her to have. Standing once more, she moved over and picked up the weapon, feeling the tip scrape along the floor as she struggled to lift it’s weight. It had been many years since she had felt so helpless with this weapon, finally realizing what a great burden it could ultimately prove, if her strength didn’t return.
She took it back to her bed where she laid it over her lap, tracing her fingers of the shining surface. The blood that had been on it was gone, washed clean. In her mind Alaura wished she could do that to herself, wash clean the sorrow of her past, the ill deeds done in the furry and anger of her revenge. She had done terrible things to people simply following orders, and now she truly felt the guilt of it all. If only she could turn back the clocks and find a way to do things differently. But she knew, deep within her heart, that there was nothing she could do now but move forward to her inevitable fate.
She placed the sword down, allowing the tip to press against the wooden floor while leaning it against her bed. Standing once more, Alaura made her tedious way across the room and finally to the main door. Weak or not, she had to leave the tree house eventually. She had things to do. Her men had to be ready to leave within the hour and she wasn’t about to sit around while they did all the work. Pushing open the door, Alaura stepped out onto the balcony. She had to shade her eyes for a moment as the light without stung her dry eyes. After blinking a few times she saw the camp come into focus once more. Men were beginning to scurry about, packing away their things and gradually shifting the trees back to the way they had been before the camp had settled. The result was that, once finished, the place looked as if it had never been visited, minus the men now walking about.
Alaura, dressed in her blood spotted outfit, slowly wound her way down the ladder she had created out of the branches. It was a slow process, but soon enough she was on the ground once more and seeking out her men so that she might better instruct them. She spread the word of their eventual departure and found herself wandering about, seeing to it that all was prepared for their leave.

Damien had woken early in the morning, just before the sun had completely risen, to ready himself to leave. He had slept well enough the night before, aside from a few minor starts, and had gone out on a small hunt. This had turned up a rabbit, which he had cooked away from the view of the earthen soldiers. He felt guilty for killing the small creature, but he also knew the jerky he had brought was best saved for actual on the road travelling. Besides, he had seen the earthen soldiers hunting as well, so it was clear that while they respected the animal, they weren’t foolish enough to deny the meat that sustained their life and strength. Even so, he found himself cooking the small beast out of sight, with his large steed standing close by and munching on grass.
Occasionally the black pools of eyes would look up and past Damien, staring at someone that passed close by. This always caused Damien to look back, sighing with relief when he noticed that it was simply an earth soldier going about his business. It wasn’t long before the entire camp had come to life, the men moving about swiftly and tearing down the wondrous homes they had created. Having finished his own meal and packed his own tent, Damien began to walk towards the center, where Alaura’s home rested, in search of further details. Clearly they would be heading out soon.
Asgoroth, following not far behind, moved at a lazy pace as Damien found his way to the largest of the tree homes. He noticed it seemed utterly quiet above, and he guessed that Alaura was about and ensuring her men were ready to leave. Just as he turned to leave, however, he was met by a large earthen man. His was tall, though he didn’t tower over Damien, and had a mop of chestnut hair that hung only slightly over his hazel eyes. The man, despite his obvious brute strength, seemed worn and tired, as if worry had set deep within him. He stared at Damien with a wary eye before recognition clicked.
“You, Paladin, what are you doing?” He asked, walking over so that he now stood but a few feet away. Damien, having assessed the man thoroughly in his short moments of speech and movement, offered his usual charming smile. “I was looking for Alaura, to see when we were heading out. However, it appears she’s already out and around the camp.” His smile was a little embarrassed, as if he were ashamed at having just missed her. The earthen man looked up sharply, staring into the windows above with what Damien perceived as shock fading into concern. Realizing Damien was still there, however, changed the man’s facial expression into the similar mask of stone that seemed evident in all the earthen soldiers.
“Well, I’m not sure where she is, but I do know that we are to leave within the hour. If you are all set to leave, perhaps you could do your share and help put out fires and pack things up.” The man was blunt, but then so were all earthen men Damien had met. It didn’t matter that he had only spent the night, he was fully expected to help out. Not minding much, Damien gave a brisk nod and headed off to ensure the others in the camp knew of the departure time.

Crystal felt a rather strange thing coming over her. For the first time in her life she felt there was a reason to truly smile. Not just smile in the sense she had before, where the smallest of grins would possibly grace her lips for a moment, but a true child’s smile. It was a grin from ear to ear, knowing that she was able to comfort another who may have been feeling down. Strange how one raised in such dire circumstances could grow in such a short time to become a girl with such a big heart.
Looking forward once more, to where she could only guess the road was heading, she felt that strange tingling she always got when she was approaching a town. It was as if the electrical currents running through people would send little signals to her, alerting her that someone was nearby. The feeling could be describe only as a very gentle pins and needles sensation moving from the tips of her fingers through her entire body and down into the tips of her toes. Excitement welled within her and, if it was possible, her smile grew. “We’re almost there.” She said, slightly a question and yet also a statement. It was as if she were looking for confirmation of her words without actually asking.

Ariya had spent as much time as she could avoiding the great castle within the city. She knew she would have to end up there eventually, but the thought of being trapped once more forever caged by her retainers and her duties simply did not sit well with this fiery woman. However, she finally found herself staring up at the large domain, face to face with the main gate, which slowly ground open upon her command. She did not request, as one ought to have, but rather demanded they open the gates for her. One look in her eyes was all the proof they needed that she would not tolerate hesitance.
Stepping inside with Haru and Freiya at her sides, Ariya looked about with disdain. She hated being here, hated the fact that she had to pick up where her careless brother left off. Yet at the same time she felt curiosity swelling within her. For one, she wanted to meet this woman that her brother had been so infatuated with. Of course there was also the curiosity as to what task he had been sent on that had lead to his untimely death. The latter, she would soon realize, was the thing that would give her, her wish of freedom from this place.
Moving through the courtyard and into the main doors, Ariya found herself unimpressed by the size of the place. It seemed larger than her own home, but still it seemed utterly too large for her tastes. In any case, she wasted no time in moving through the halls towards the throne room only to be stopped at the entrance by a guard.
Sparks seemed to fly from her eyes, yet she did not lash out physically towards the man. With a shudder, he fought to keep his cool in front of such an easily tempered vixen. “I’m sorry, milady, but the King is currently not in the throne room. He is elsewhere in the city and I’m afraid we are not expecting him back for sometime.” This did not please Ariya, but she saw the opportunity to gain information. This frightened man was clearly easy to manipulate, given his obvious desire to live.
“Well, I may be willing to look past this rather infuriating insult if you would provide me with some information.” Using every bit of charm within her, Ariya let her tone pool out like a warm, liquid substance, much like molten lava. It seemed so enchanting and pure, seductive as it was, that the man found it hard to resist. On top of that, he could hardly deny the scantily clad woman, in spite of the vicious pets she kept in close confidence. “Well, I suppose I could help you out there. What was it you wanted to know?” He asked, his soft tone alerting Ariya that he was already under her womanly spell.
“Oh, it isn’t much. I just want to know what my brother was doing when he was killed. Why was he out near the Knorth Kingdom, so far from his post? I do so miss him and it would be a great comfort to know why my brother died?” Upon these words, Ariya went to the great lengths of batting her long lashes and causing her golden eyes to well with her false tears. The man, though hesitant for a moment, caved before her womanly charm and spilled the details. Fire flashed viciously through her molten gaze and the spell over the man was instantly broken. He took a terrified step away from the woman, but there was no need. She had no intention of ending his miserable life, for now she had a new plan.
Without word of her arrival and without ever speaking with Adel, Ariya made the decision to leave this place at once. Whoever these rebels were, they were going to pay for stealing her glory from her. Her brother’s death was supposed to be on her hands, not theirs. She was supposed to be the one who proved her worth and strength by defeating her prodigy of a brother.
Storming from the fortress, Ariya found her retainers with her carriage. They began to scurry about, cautiously reprimanding her before they noticed the all too familiar look of dangerous furry boiling beneath the surface. Stepping from her way, they did as she commanding and readied her carriage for their immediate departure. Not more than twenty minutes passed before Ariya was situated in her carriage, her pets lying about lazily as it rolled speedily through the streets and out of the gates, heading for the Knorth Kingdom.

Celia rose a brow curiously at Shane. He was just one person... no, they were just one small group and yet they still sought to bring down the tyrranical dark lord? The wind assasin couldn't but find that rather whimsical. Why bother chasing after a fairytale? It was hard enough just staying alive. But, she kept this to herself. What drove others wasn't her bussiness, or whether they wished to plunge themselves towards certain death or not. When Shane and Celia finished off what was left of her meal, she blew out her fire with a small gust of wind carefully, making sure she wouldnt accidentally spread it.
Guiding her belongings into her pack neatly, Celia scattered the remains of her fire and then, as she hadn't the power of earth, turned the earth to erase any traces of her being. Standing up and glancing over to Shane, Celia offered a hand. "Well, it looks as if your camp is getting ready to leave. Heh, perhaps it may do to help your princess?" She scoffed and nodded over to Alaura. That would cost her, probably. Any good impression made just now would more likely than not be turned sour. After all, she had just 'insulted' their leader. But then again, maybe Celia was just feeling a little bitter to realise that there was no way she could keep up with actually getting herself any friends. Nevermind, they weren't worth it anyways.
Lies and betrayal. It was too risky, and especially in her line of work. No, that wouldn't work out at all, and certainly nobody would even want to be near her anyways. HAH. Hahaha. Not with her cynical tongue, and certainly not if... when she might ever be forced to turn on them. Not if she had to risk her neck for them, not if they didn't do it for her too. And who would? How foolish, giving your life for anothers.
"I suppose this is where we part ways. I've probably overstayed already. Unless you are headed towards the water kingdom, I don't suppose we'll run into each other again." Not that they wanted to, she'd already convinced herself. But, in a small back part of her mind, she realied she was a very sad sad person. But beyond a breif recognition, she promptly locked the thought away again and ignored it.

The Water Queen was an admirable woman. Proud and wise. But, Aria desperately hoped to herself that she would not let her stubborness get in the way of self-preservation. To stand and fall with your kingdom, Aria realised was a way of proud rulers, even if she was never fond with the idea of anyone falling at all. But, this would not be falling with her land, but rather herself the one being threatened. She had placed charms all over the place, but well as they were, their assailant was a water traitor. As opposed to the full strength they would have against a dark soldier. But it couldn't be helped, it wasn't like she could do everything.
She desperatly wanted to stay by the Queen, but she couldn't help feel a monumental sense of forboding concerning Flint. Either way would end in despair, seh could feel it in her veins. A maximum security protection ahd been erected around the queen, and although Aria stil lfelt it wouldn't be enough, Flint was only one person. And if he could be taken down, she wondered why not the rest of them? But... Fire was a disadvantage to water, according the natural forces. Ultimately, she found herself heading towards Flint. She'd thrown off her fancy dress in favour of a more practical suit with more protection than her formal wear.
When she arrived outsite, the first and only thing she saw was, lying on the ground and in a growing spool of blood was Flint. Aria stifled a gasp and moved to his side as quickly and cautiously as she dared. "Flint! Flint, can you hear me? Stay with me here," she she hissed, turning him over. Kneeling down, she hovered her hands over his stomach and took a deep breath, gagging on the stench of blood. Her hands started to glow faintly, as did a concentrated area around his wound. As if by some magical device, a pattern of circles began to draw itself under the two, piercing into the ground. She muffled the glow, to keep from attracting too much unwanted attention, or at least any stray lights anyways.
Then, carefully, when she was sure she had stalled his bleeding, Aria carefully removed the blade and struggled to keep the blood from spurting out. She didn't have any first aid equipment near her, or atl east not more than the bad she always kept by her side. Ripping out a strip of cloth, she quickly bandaged his wounds and grimaced at the rapidly stained cloth. Pulling out a vial, she poured it into Flint's mouth, hoping it would help with his recovery.

They arrived at the entrance to the tavern, only to be stopped at the door by a rather bulky man with a large scar across his face. The man looked at Nicolai, examining his garments. "You lost kid? I can't let you and your lady friend in here." He looked to Nicki. "Wouldn't want you break a nail now would we sweethear..." Nicolai's fist was already embedded in the man's teeth before he could finish his sentence, causing him to collapsed onto the ground in front of the door. Nicolai then wrenched open the door, ramming it into the side of the man's head. Realizing he was forgetting his manners, he quickly turned to Nicki offering out his hand. "After you..."
"The Water Kingdom is our destination as well. You could always travel with us. I do not see you as a current threat to the group, so I don't see why not. But it isn't so easy to convince some of the others." Shane noticed that the men were packing up camp. "I will take my leave then. Thank you for the food. Perhaps I shall speak with you again. I'll just follow the sweet aroma from your cooking." Shane made his way towards Alaura, whom was wandering about the camp talking to the earth men.
Shane spoke to her as soon as she was alone. "Are we leaving soon then?" As Alaura turned to face him, his face became grave with concern. Her eyes were not their usual brilliant shade of emerald, but rather a pale green; like that of a dying leaf, gradually wilting as it's life fades. Her clothes were still stained with blood from the battle the day before. He got close to her, near to her ear so that no one else could hear his whispers other than her. "I will be by your side during our journey to my homeland. I know it is not like you to show weakness or ask for help, but I assure you... I will be as discreet as possible in aiding you in whatever way I can. You don't need to ask me, I will be there. It's not my intention to sound rude, but you don't have the strength to argue, so save your breath and please be accepting of my help."
He noticed that she had his flask tied around her waist. He couldn't help his cheeks getting warm as he smiled. He whispered again to her. "I will prepare your things and leave a set of clean clothes for you to change into in your room. You trust the man named Thalon. When you finish what you need to do here, please have him discreetly make you a way back into the tree house. I don't want to draw too much attention to the situation, so I wont carry you up." Shane lifted his head away as he began to step backwards away from her, his thoughts traveling back to the night before when he carried her on his shoulders. The daydream ended as he stumbled over some wood from one of the doused-out campfires. He looked away from Alaura, hoping that she hadn't noticed what had just happened and quickly made his way to the tree house.
Shane was soon in Alaura's room, packing things into a bag. He found some clean clothes for her to use and he came across Alaura's sword, leaning against the bed. It was truly a magnificent blade. Its sheer size made him wonder why Alaura would choose to wield such a heavy weapon. He left the blade alone and set the clothes on the end of the bed, along with the bag of her other belongings. Closing the door behind him, he left her room and went out into the living area of the tree house. He found a seat and sat down. I know I told Thalon that she'd be fine, but I can't help but worry about her. We've been traveling for some time now, and I have this feeling... this desire, to be near her... to be by her side. Shane let his thoughts wander as he waited.

By the time Ryal had trudged his way to the center of the camp, trying to keep up with Evan, his stomach had gradually become better, though he had attracted plenty of odd looks from the sound of his stomach growling on occasion. He finally caught up with Evan and found him helping the earthen soldiers pack up the camp, while still carrying both his own pack as well as Ryal's on his back. Ryal wasn't sure what amazed him more, Evan's unyeilding perserverance, hardend and forged into tempered steel from years of war overseas, or seeing the earthen men re-shape the trees as if there had not been a house grown into it just a moment before. Truly incredible... I've never seen anything so magnificent. With his streangth returning, he began to fell the guilt set in for not haveing done his part in getting ready to leave. He quikly fell in beside Evanand stammered an apology to his mentor.

Raphael grunted and stepped back forcefully, gripping the thrown blade in his hand as it rocketed towards his chest. It flayed his palm and slammed into his sternum, drawing a large tear in his shirt and chest. He hissed in pain and the sword dropped to the stone harshly, clattering there in a deafening roar. "You lose." he hissed, smearing the torrent of blood across his chest as if to test its tangibility.
A woman appeared to Flint then and he could only laugh lowly, "Do what you can to save him... he'll certainly return to fight me once more."
That said he stormed the steps to the palace, his blood dripping an obvious path. That massive doors of the palace slammed open with the force his shove, and before him were thirty or more armed guards stood at the ready, swords drawn.
Each seemed awkwardly surprised by his presence, "Captain??" the nearest breathed.
He rolled his shoulders and slung his scythe into a non-aggressive stance, "Aye." he replied, nodding carefully.
"NO!!!" A woman clad in a uniform identical to his shouted, throwing her arms out in front of the men as she stormed to their front. "He is not your Captain any longer..."
Raphael tightened his grip on the scythe, "Let me through." he ordered, taking a hard step forward.
The woman eased her hand to her own blades, staring directly into Raphael's eyes. "I will not harm a one of my men... I promise you."
"But you seek to harm our Queen!"
He shook his head, and then he was forward, shoving the woman away and dashing through each screaming sword as if they were feathers until finally he was upon the throne room doors.

The shadows that clung to every building in the nearby area had rippled in a rather threatening manner upon the man’s all too cocky words. A rumble from above would alert those below that, while he had kept his distance, the beast that plagued this city’s skies was never far from his mistress. If her shadows didn’t devour the rotten soul then her beast certainly would....or at least this was how it would have been had Nicolai not taken his step forward.
The fist to the brutish man’s face was certainly a shock to Nicki, she hadn’t expected him to be so forward. Her grin, a genuine grin of pleasure that was all too rare to her, spread easily across her lips. “Well, Nicolai, you continue to surprise me.” Her smooth tone seemed more warm and inviting than ever before, yet beneath the surface one might have felt an odd chill running through them. It was the subconscious warning any living soul that looks, in this case, were certainly deceiving.
Nicki stepped past the man, grinning her wicked grin down at him and leaning in slightly. “You’re lucky he got to you before I did.” She whispered before passing on. She moved over the threshold and into the bar, the noise rushing over her like a tidal wave. It didn’t bother her, but rather excited her senses. This was not so obvious in anything on her, but in the slight quaver of the shadows around her, which calmed moments after it had begun.

Alaura offered a soft smile to Shane as he approached, though that look was not one that would stay for long. When he leaned in close, whispering words for only her ears, she felt her breath catch in her throat and her cheeks suddenly felt hot. His words alarmed her, and she pulled back just enough to give him a rather unreadable look. It was a mixture of surprise, disbelief and slight hostility. She didn’t want to argue, he was right that she had no strength, but neither was she willing to fully admit weakness. The look faded into a frown.
“Thank you, but I’m fine.” She said, her voice sounded stronger than she looked. If nothing else, she was at least able to muster the strength to keep her voice steady. Still, she knew that Shane would never believe it. Something about him allowed him to always break through her very deepest defenses, which terrified and angered her. She hated that he was so able to pass beyond the walls she had built up, as if they were nothing.
Watching him walk off, without having a choice in the matter as it seemed, Alaura found herself smiling and giggling like a young girl. For the first time in many long years, Alaura felt as though she were acting her age. It lasted only a moment before a feeling of utter confusion fell over her. What was she doing? Why did she feel so very foolish when around Shane? It seemed an utter mess to her.
Shaking her head, Alaura did as Shane had instructed. Seeing the her men were just about ready to leave, Alaura sought out Thalon and, in more words than were necessary, finally managed to ask him to create a step for her. He gazed at her in a strange manner, as if shocked by her request. Allowing the moment of weakness to fade into impatience, Alaura found her usual rough demeanor pushing forward. “Look, don’t ask why, just save us both the trouble and do as I ask.” She had never been so truly sharp with Thalon, and it was enough to snap him out of his momentary lapse. It was also all he needed to confirm his own suspicions that she was not well. Tough she may have been, but never rude or cruel.
Doing as asked, Thalon created an earthen step up to the balcony that would allow Alaura to easily access her home in the trees. He knew that, in her weakened state, it would fall to him to lead the men and tear down her house before they left.
Alaura climbed the steps, nodding to Thalon as he hesitated at the bottom. She meant to have time alone, or what she had thought would be alone. When she opened the door she was met with the sight of Shane. She stopped in her tracks, pausing for a moment before stammering out a few words. “I didn’t realize you would still be here.” She said, feeling a little awkward as her thoughts from earlier pushed to the forefront of her mind.

Seilynn chuckled and smiled down at Crystal, nodding. "Yes, we're almost there." She smiled, confirming the girl's questioning statement. Just then she heard the sound of hooves and wheels. She turned to see a carriage heading for the village as well. It seemed to come in a very fast speed and Seilynn quickly moved aside of the road with Crystal, into the ditch. She noticed it had the water kingdom's mark, but it wouldn't have been visible for someone that would have been standing on the road. She turned to Crystal, "Are you alright with going to the water kingdom with me, Crystal?" she asked as she got down so she was actually facing the girl instead of looking down at her.
