I think it's smart to start school earlier and go later. 3nodding Though, I think it would make more sense to get an idea what a child is good at and teach to those strengths or start the track for nurturing those talents and strengths early on.

Well, parents need some time to prepare their toddlers for school, and that can be difficult for families on a small budget. So the sooner starting date for school might not be good for all children.

Yes, that is true. I have to agree on that point, Scoot. 3nodding Though a bit of language study during the transition would be great. After all, the young mind is like a sponge. smile

My sister really loves learning, though. ^^ She's obsessed with writing letters to everyone, and she asks us how to spell certain words. She's five years old!

That's amazing, Scoot. She sounds like a very go getter. blaugh I was that way when I was young. I just wanted to learn as much as I could as quickly as I could. 3nodding

What's crazy was that about half a year ago, she assigned herself HER OWN MATH HOMEWORK. Now that's an interest in learning. 3nodding

I was more of the go-outside-and-play type. Now, I'm pretty much the opposite. I like to read and do other things rather than playing around. I still like the outdoors, though.

She's in kindergarten next year (I think?). She loves to read and play video games. She played Zelda: Wind Waker and asked me to read the messages for her.

Granted, she didn't get that far (heck, the level Forsaken Fortress is hard for ME to get through!), but she got quite a bit done on her own. And it can get a bit annoying having to read all of that text for her. But I'm a big brother. *heroic pose*
