Zana swore and dived after Alexander. Her dragon jaws snapping down on the tentacle and severing it in half. Zana changed into Drigerwolf form and scooped up Alexander and ran as fast as she could to Tervascanto and Drago. But the severed tentacle thrashed and went after her behind her and snagged a leg, making her fall. She wasn't too far away from Tervascanto and Drago. She let go of Alexander, she locked eyes with Tervascanto and her eyes changed, one silver and one gold.

Tervascanto's muscles were clenching and unclenching as he desperately wanted to help, but he had been ordered to stay put. He watched horrified as she fell and let go of Alexander, then even more horrified as her eyes changed to silver and gold.
"Not that shape!" He cried, but he was too late.
Zana turned to face the beast, her shape molding as she challenged it. She grew into a dragon shape that was bigger and more muscular than Tervascanto. One half of her body was silver, and the other half was gold. She had no wings for her body was too heavy to fly. She snaked along the ground, hissing as she went, her powerful arms ending in cruelly curved claws that could rip and tear with ease. She roared deafingly and attacked the creature.
Tervascanto leapt and quickly grabbed Alexander and brought him inside. He took Drago from his back and lay him on the bed. He looked shaken.
"We found that creature on one of our adventures." He explained. "We almost didn't survive that encounter. We found that it is undefeatable except by one of it's own kind. Zana changed into it, and she lost herself in the creature. She will lose herself again now."

Zana roared as it hit her. She crumpled to the ground, trying to get back up. She gasped as she changed back to normal. She sat up and hissed with pain at the gash in her left side, which was bleeding profusely. She watched Alexander start to fade.
"No." She whispered hoarsely. She held out her arm toward him, her fingers outstretched, she was preparing a spell that she hoped would save him. "I hold you here, you are not allowed to cross over." She clenched her hand in fist and a bright flash of gold light emanated from it. She hoped it worked.

Zana kept her hand clenched in a fist. Tervascanto gently picked her up, careful not to bump her and break her consentration, then he picked up Alexander and quickly got them inside and baracaded the door. He set them on the floor, changed into human form, and knelt beside Zana, he leaned in close to her ear.
"What is it you do?" He whispered.
"Binding, healing, bring him back." Zana said.
Tervascanto could see her invisible violet magic flow. It was concentrated around the arm that she held out to Alexander. Tervascanto sat behind her and put his left hand on her left shoulder. Then he stretched out his right arm and placed his hand over her fist. He closed his eyes and lent her his strength, his gold mixing with her violet.

Zana heard Drago and shuddered at her memory, almost breaking off the magic. But Tervascanto held her.
"Steady." He told her.
"It changes into whatever it sees, that's how it defeated the undefeatable beast. Before Tervascanto got us I saw wolves."
Tervascanto felt Zana's magic being spent, Tervas spoke the final words and released their magic. Zana collapsed against him. He examined her wound.
"She's hurt badly." He said. "We have to get out of here. Where can we go that's safe from the mist?"

Tervascanto took the herb and gave it to Zana. She gagged on it's taste but she got it down. She was slightly delerious and Tervascanto didn't know how much that herb would help. He changed into dragon form and got everyone on his back. Lastly he gently placed Zana in front of Drago.
"Watch her closely, make sure she doesn't fall off." He said and blew through the roof and sped away to Silverveil, the enemies kingdom.

Tervascanto entered Silverveil and landed in a forest.
"The Silverveil forest is known for it's protection." He said. "Creatures magical and non magical come here to be safe. We should be safe from that mist here, the forest shouldn't let it through." He took them off his back and set them down gently. He made sure Alexander was all right lying down and he propped Drago against a tree. He turned into human form and cradled Zana in his arms. He wet a cloth and cleaned the deep gash in her side. She arched her back and cried out in pain. Her breathing was heavy.
"The poison claws." He sighed. "You're herb is battling the wound, but the poison on the undefeatable beasts claws is wreaking havoc. The herb should neutralize it. I've done all I can for now." He got a blanket and wrapped her in it, then hugged her close to him to keep her warm from her chills.
"Tervascanto." She whispered and turned around so she was facing him. She shivered violently and snuggled into his chest. She opened her mouth to speak but found she could not.
"I know you're scared." Tervascanto whispered. "Just go to sleep, we're right here and I'll keep you warm."

Zana took his hand. "Drago you need rest just as badly as I do. Don't worry, Tervascanto will watch over us." She did feel a little better after what Drago did and she was able to fall asleep.
"Sleep Drago." Tervascanto prompted. "We will be given a warning if the forest is breached by anything."

Tervascanto narrowed his eyes as he thought. He dug into his bag until he found what he wanted. A leather pouch held a glittery blue powder. He mixed some with water and gave it to Zana to drink. Then he did remove Drago's hand.
"You have your own pain." Tervascanto said. "As much as I appreciate you helping her we will need your strength later on to get through this. What I gave her will keep her asleep and will hopefully dull the pain. And if keep behaving this way I'll force some down your throat too." He said this with a smile to show that he wasn't angry.
