Shiro's eyes lit up even more when he realized that he was going to have the opportunity to learn more things from someone who was Lin's teacher, and obviously a very skilled (and probably very wise) man.

"Arigato," he said warmly to Lin. "Thank you very much for letting me learn with you!"

Daeron's entire face lit up brightly at the mention of Triton's name. He hadn't seen Triton since he had been a small child, when the neko had saved him from the slavers and returned him home with his aunt. "Thalion-tôl?" he said eagerly. "I'm going to go see him, I'll see all of you later!"

And he ran off even faster than Serenity had disappeared.

Elros chuckled at Daeron, then took a seat on the grass next to the children. "Language lessons, then?" he asked softly. "Or history? Or do you have any questions that you would like answered?"

Aliya smiled. "Well, he really is a big boy now," she murmured, still patting Adonijah's back. "I mean ... he's already seven ... that's nearly halfway to being an adult, he's close to becoming a teenager already."

A scary thought when she remembered that she still wasn't even thirty.

"And he's gaining a much broader and yet more detailed education than anyone I've ever known," she murmured. "He's going to be quite brilliant ... very learned ... when he grows up. And skilled. As a fighter, a woodsman, a craftsman ... anything he wants. He deserves to be proud of himself. I'm proud of him. He truly is an amazing boy."

She giggled. "He's setting quite the precedent for his siblings."

Well, the mer nearly had giggle fits over the whole thing. She could certainly understand that, seeing as Adan had always been learning and he seemed eager to learn a lot. Not just for the carvings.

"Speaking of learning, what did happen to that insane collection of his?"

Lin had to think about it, as in really thinking about it because despite what many believed, she didn't have questions all the time. Some of it could be easily figured out or it was just something she never thought of asking.

Though one had to wonder if she forgot questions at times she came up with so many.

"I don't have any questions," Lin murmured after a while, "Shiro?"

After all Shiro tended to have questions.. sometimes, though books answered most of his.

Shiro smiled. "Just one question," he said softly, "if you don't mind answering. How old are you?"

The older he was, the more he had experienced, and the more knowledge he would have amassed, and therefore the more Shiro would be able to learn from him about different things.

Elros chuckled, amused by the question for some odd reason. To be fair, despite knowing his general age, no one had ever - ever - asked him that question before.

"Twenty five thousand, five hundred and eleven," he replied amusedly. "Far older than just about anyone you will ever meet, I'm certain."

A safe assumption, considering that in this world there were only two people older than him.

Aliya grinned and rose carefully to her feet.

"Come and see," she murmured evasively, nodding for Feng to follow her. She headed down the hallway towards Adanedhel's bedroom, stopping there and opening the door with one foot.

Nearly every flat surface in the room was covered in carvings - everything except for the floor and the bed, which was impressive, considering how much Adan used to like playing with the carvings. Nowadays he preferred just to show them off as trophies for his knowledge, though.

"It's been a long time since he got a new one," Aliya explained. "We put our foot down after he ran out of room in his room to display them. Now his reward is simply the knowledge that he gains. He's happy with that, as long as it means he gets to spend more time with Aragost."

Feng poked her head in and nearly gapped at the amount of carvings. There were certainly more carvings than he had previously. But still this was a bit extreme.

"That's good he's happy with that, otherwise I wouldn't know what would happen. There's so many... I mean.. there was a lot before but..."

Lin was impressed, not by the age, she had known he was very old, but the fact he could remmeber what his age was. One would think after a while, that one would lose track of such things.

If Lin was impressed, Shiro was in awe.

"Wow," he breathed, eyes wide. "That's old ..."

It was also quite possible however that he had a better understanding and appreciation of exactly what that meant, considering the extent of his studies.

Elros chuckled softly. "Indeed, it is," he agreed. "Very nearly as old as the world, or so one would think. On the other hand, one might also say that it was quite a long time after the beginning of our world, three thousand years after all is still a long time, no matter how much time comes after it."

He smiled warmly at the three children. "Any other questions?" he asked them. "Or shall we begin?"

Aliya laughed softly at Feng's reaction. "Yes ... yes. You can see why we put our foot down and said no more. Thankfully, the twins aren't interested in carvings of their own, and they don't disturb Adanedhel's anymore either. Alyse appreciates beauty, like the glowstones, or flowers, or ... well ... nature in general, really." She smiled. "As for Adwin ..."

She paused thoughtfully.

"He ... just likes being active."

Meanwhile, Daeron was just arriving inside the house where everyone else was still sitting and chatting (except for the children, who had gone off to the play room to look around and play a bit). He grinned when he saw everyone that was there, his eyes lighting immediately upon his two favourite people in any world.

"Nara-thêl!" he exclaimed as he came into the room. "Thalion-tôl! Finally!" He laughed and gave his aunt a tight hug in greeting, then turned and took Triton's hand, shaking it heartily. "All those times I went back home, hoping you'd be there, and this is the place where I manage to finally see you again! I haven't seen either of you since I was a kid!"

Haradhel laughed sheepishly, her cheeks turning a light shade of red, and grinned innocently.

"I guess I forgot to mention that Daeron had joined us, didn't I?" she grinned at the others.

To be fair, she hadn't done it on purpose, and he had been with them for about a year so she was already at the point where she was taking his presence for granted.

"Like me," Feng gave a catty grin, "Being active is fun as long as you don't drive other people crazy in the process."

Or so she had learned from all her adventures as a child and surprise. Her poor brother it was a wonder why he didn't have an ulcer by now.

Triton had been caught completely off guard, had Daeron not called him by that nickname he would have not at all recognized the man before him. Who was at the moment shaking his head, forcing Triton to push that thought out of the way to keep himself from gapping.

"Daeron!" he blinked... upwards, "It has been a very long time, and I don't know what to say that isn't already very obvious."

Lin didn't have any questions herself so she nodded at Elros, "I'm ready! How about you two?"

She grinned at them, this was going to be fun, and different and different always kept things from being boring.

Donovan chuckled a bit, "Yea, you did forget to mention that, though the look on their faces is priceless."

Elnara had been a little surprised when her mother had come in, though she had also sort of been expecting to see her as well, but when Daeron came in and greeted her and Triton like that, she was completely stunned. Like Triton, she hadn't seen him since he had been a child - though she recognized him a bit more easily, having spent a bit of time with Earendil during her visit to the Southland.

"What other surprises are there?" she asked Haradhel suspiciously.

Daeron laughed at Triton and kept right on shaking his hand. "It has indeed been a long time!" he agreed cheerfully. "But boy oh boy is it good to see you again! I've never forgotten how you saved me, or what it was like with those men - and it's all coming around full circle, now it's my turn to help save others from the same fate!"

Serenity was sitting beside Elnara already, looking younger than she had used to and now so similar to her daughter that their height was the best way to tell them apart - save Serenity's slightly paler skin - and she laughed softly. She had always been amused by his affinity for Triton and Elnara.

"I'm afraid I have to agree with Donovan," she grinned at Triton. "Though I have to say, Haradhel, you do seem quite skilled at 'forgetting' to mention things that aren't immediately obvious."

Aliya laughed along with Feng. "Or as long as you don't put yourself or anyone else in danger," she agreed. "But Adanedhel's good for that ... most of the time. I think his abduction really scared him, he hasn't tried to go anywhere on his own since then ... though I can't help but wonder if that might change once he thinks he's safe enough, once he's learned enough of the ancient tongue from Aragost."
