There was no point in shouting a command, so all Ky could do was wait for the Screech to end. Before the vocal blast though, Ky had noticed Crenu's Larvitar had to squint to line up his attack, something key that Ky could use to increase the little advantage they had. Meanwhile, Little Guy cringed as the high-pitched frequency entered his ears, skewing the balance of his flight. It wasn't too strong, but its effect still sank in. As soon as the attack ended, Ky shouted, "Little Guy! Keep your shadow near Larvitar's eyes! Then, fire a Night Shade as quick as you can!" Though it was difficult, while Little Guy charged his Night Shade, he managed to fly a tight circle so his shadow circled the Larvitar closely. He knew this would line up the sun to block the view of his attack. Little Guy then shot the black energy immediately, aiming it like a guided arrow towards the Larvitar.

A straight downward attack? Larvtar could dodge that easily without me even having to say anything. But why is he just standing there? Ah! The sneaky devil... Crenu had failed to notice that Larvitar was blinded by the sun, something tat should have been obvious from the start. He could barely see the bird, so a night shade would be almost invisible until it was to late. "Larvitar, brace for impact and get ready to counter!" Unable to see what had his trainer riled up, Larvitar went on command alone and did as he was told, clenching his body as tightly as he could Larvitar waited for the sudden sharp pain that would wash over his body as the ghostly shadow drilled into him from above. The shade ate away at him until it faded and Larvitar gritted his teeth through the duration. "Not bad Ky, but try avoiding this! Larvitar, Rock Slide!" Larvitar shook himself back into the fight and clenched his fists. Thrusting his fists into the earth below, he shot them upwards with a loud cry and tore the ground apart. Chunks of earth and stone were sent sailing upwards into the sky, but from the looks of it they would not reach the little green bird.

"Okay, so maybe Double Team wasn't the best of choices," Keegan mumbled, looking into the smog and trying to pinpoint his Pokemon. The clones were impossible to distinguish from the real Artemis, but at least if Keegan didn't know which one was real, odds were that neither did the Houndoom.
There was a flash as the Houndoom let out another Ember attack, and the flames quickly ignited with the smog, making for somewhat of a small explosion. As the smoke cleared though, there were three Swellow still hovering on the battlefield, and Keegan didn't even know which one was real as he called for a Steel Wing. All three birds let out a chirp and flew towards thier opponent, holding out their wings as they glowed with a silver hue before striking the fire type. It let out a howl and retaliated with a sharp bite, tearing through one of the clones and causing it to disappear.
Now, only two Swellow remained as the Pokemon then let out another Ember attack, which both birds were able to avoid with ease. Keegan called for a Quick Attack, and the two flew towards their target in an X-shape, although only one attack would actually be real. Keegan folded his arms across his chest, ignoring the searing pain on his arm as he watched his Pokemon battle. She was doing quite well, and Keegan couldn't help but feel glad that he'd accidentally captured the Taillow instead of a Shroomish - the latter would not have been helpful in this situation.

Seeing the Rock Slide fly into the air made Ky's heart race, and even though it became apparent that the rocks were not a direct threat to Little Guy, Ky found the time during the attack uncomfortably long. The chunks of earth seemed to be moving upwards in slow motion; it was as if his mind was screaming for Ky to think, like there was something truly obvious he could figure out in this situation. "Little Guy won't get hit, but I can't send Little Guy in to attack. I have to wait for the rocks to fall... wait for the rocks to, wait..."
"I got it!" Ky thought out loud. Breaking out of his zone, the rocks returned to their normal pace. Ky thrust his right arm into the air, a heavy smirk on his face. "Little Guy! Grab onto the largest rock and hold on!" he called out. "On my signal, Teleport it straight into Larvitar!"
Knowing now was not the time to hesitate, Little Guy immediately dove to latch onto a huge barely-rotating piece of stone, watching Ky carefully. It didn't take long to figure out Ky's plan, but it was surprisingly aggressive. In fact, at maximum velocity, it was down-right dangerous. Nevertheless, as the boulders began to return to the earth, Little Guy held fast. Then suddenly, on the way down, a beautiful chant came from Little Guy's vocals, one that any Pokemon around could hear.
"Ky, I'll put my trust in you, Though please listen to my call. Wish me luck that I'll strike true, And not be crushed by my own fall."
Ky kept his arm steady, watching carefully for Crenu's next move. "Good luck Little Guy, and thanks," he whispered, a small tear rolling down his cheek.
((Little Guy used the move Lucky Chant, which normally prevents critical hits for 5 turns. In this case though, it's to prevent the worst-case scenario, or in other words, the last line of Little Guy's chant.))

Listening to his trainer, the stars bounced off of his metal plating with relative ease. Being covered in steel armor had its advantages. Lairon glared at Electrode and stamped his foot into the ground. His claws began to shimmer a bright white and he broke into a dead run at the sphere Pokemon.
The Electrode's grin grew wider as the Lairon grew closer. It took the Iron Claw straight to the...front of it's body and rolled against the wall, crashing against it with great force. So great, in fact, that it bounced off the wall and propelled itself forward at the foe with great speed. As it flew through the air, Electrode's body began to glow bright white. It's grin was bright on it's face even through the light.
The boy lashed out a command almost instantly. "Lairon! Iron Defense!" Kilik barked loudly, and his voice was nearly drowned out by the sound of the resulting explosion. He held up his arms to shield himself from the light and any debris that might be sent his way. The explosion was very powerful; Kilik was sliding against the tile floor even though he had braced himself rather firmly. When the smoke began to clear, the boy dropped his arms to his sides. "Lairon!" he cried out, "Can you hear me?!"
It had been a long day. After fighting against two Aqua Grunts, along with a massive Electrode, the behemoth was getting ready to call it quits. However, he emerged from the smoke almost untouched. His metal plates were scratched and the rocky body beneath was quite damaged. The Pokemon's eyes were half-lidded, and he was panting heavily. He turned his head to look at Kilik, his eyes reading "Please let me rest." For once, the behemoth didn't want to smash everything in his way. Kilik nodded and smiled, recalling his beast of a Pokemon and kissed the top of the Great Ball, then clipped it back to his belt. Now there was the problem of the one Electrode left. With a smirk, Kilik snatched up Weezing's Pokeball and clenched it in his hand.
"Ready to fight, buddy?" he smiled at the sphere, "It's been a while."

"What a beautiful song, and an equally risky plan Ky. Though I admire your resolve, risky business is not for a pokemon as fragile as yours." Crenu grinned as he trust right arm outward causing his coat, which he wore on his shoulders alone, fell from its perch and floated to the ground. "Caution pokemon are closer than they appear, Larvitar use Sandstorm! Concentrate it on the ground below you and rise!" Larvitar nodded as he began to focus a second Sandstorm below his feet. He had done this once before against the trainer with the birds, Falkner he believed. It barely worked back then, but stronger now he was and so it might be easier. As the Sandstorm quickly took form Larvitar noticed that the ground below him broke apart. When he tore it up before he weakened the foundation he was on, and now it had broken off a small platform that rose into the falling rocks above. Had his trainer known this would happen? A platform only made things easier to maneuver, though it was heavier than just himself. " He ha ha ha ha ha ha! You've tried to match wits with my Ky, now let's see who has the most valor!"
"Little bird, he does not quarrel with you. His trainer and your own have personal dispute, as they are the tools. But he is a loyal weapon and will even rise to the trial of stone above him in order to crush you!"

"Now Lotad, use your Nature Power!" the girl said, grinning broadly as she already had the upper hand. The little green Pokemon hopped up, closing is eyes as it drew in power from around it. Leaping up, it sent a spray of shining stars towards Beldum who could do nothing to avoid the hit - Swift.
Thankfully, damage was minimal, each golden star bouncing off of Beldum's metallic body harmlessly. And this time, as Jaeshan called for his Pokemon to fight back, Beldum did, flying forward like a rocket and smashing itself headfirst into the Lotad. Both Pokemon staggered backwards, looking a little dazed, but thankfully Beldum had come out on top of that attack. It wouldn't be without consequence though, as Jaeshan knew that each Take Down was damaging to Beldum. He didn't have time to think about it though as the Lotad came charging forward again, slamming its tiny body into Beldum with another Astonish attack. Beldum didn't flinch this time though, and on its trainer's command flew forward to attack again.
This process was repeated a few more times before both Pokemon backed off, each looking exceptionally tired. Beldum closed its eye and fell to the ground, unable to maintain its hovering any longer. Lotad still looked like it could go on though, and Combusken stepped forward as Jaeshan recalled the exhausted Iron Ball Pokemon. "It's up to you now, girl," he said, clipping the Pokeball to his belt.

M.A. finished her story (with some difficulty, since her father kept interrupting her with questions, thus dragging it out quite a bit), and leaned back against her brother's broad chest to shine her 1000-kilowatt smile towards her parents. Some kids were irritated when their parents asked how they were doing, but M.A. simply felt happy that they cared so much. There was (nearly) nothing she hid from her family. Besides that, she could feel the pride emanating from their returning smiles. "You've done quiiiite a bit these last couple weeks, haven't you? Already you seen so much more grown," her mother said, coming over to her children and giving the younger one an embrace.
Michael, behind them, groaned. "Ah, mum, don't cry now!" It was an established fact that once the woman started, it would be quite some time before the waterworks stopped.
She sniffled, pulling away from her daughter and holding her at arm's length to examine and smiling tentatively. "My little darling bird's flown away from the nest now, huh. It's still hard to believe! You were just two feet tall not so long ago. Ah, well! We can't tie you down and keep you home forever."
"Say, Mary-Anne, let's see your Pokemon!" her father interrupted (he was the only one who still called her by her full first name). "You said Daemyn's grown, and I'd love to see how much."
She complied willingly, setting her three loose into the hospital room with a small flash of light. Tora had apparently been curled up in a ball, sleeping, for when she popped out she rolled about a little before coming out and blinking dazedly. Ulani fluttered immediately to perch on Mary-Anne's head, glancing around and giving a cheerful greeting to all the new faces. Last but not least, Daemyn settled himself near M.A.'s feet, warily looking about him until he recognized the familiar faces. My girl's family, he thought to himself, but did nothing in the form of acknowledgment besides stretching his legs and visibly relaxing.
Michael spoke first. "Wow, the runt really has grown!" (Daemyn threw him a murderous Leer for the remark). The brother chuckled. "And what a pretty little Swablu -- What's her name? Ulani? Ulani... Come here," he whistled. The amiable bird came forth, crowing as she set herself on his out held arm. "What good condition she's in! I didn't know you could groom so well. Even though you're not a coordinator." M.A. grinned feebly at the compliment; honestly, she didn't groom all that much. It was Ulani herself who loved to clean herself (and sometimes Daemyn and Tora) up. But why tell Michael that? Let him think she had mad skills.
The family fondled the Pokemon for the while. Ulani, in particular, loved the attention and cuddling she received (for she did receive the most, being the most cuddly). Even Daemyn slowly began to open up, allowing them to pet him tenderly (although he would never show how much he really did enjoy it, for the sake of his pride). And Tora... BANG!
On the other side of the room, reserve machines had suddenly fallen over, with a guilty-looking Tora standing nearby as the culprit. She'd tackled them from boredom... or something. In mere moments, an angry, unibrowed nurse bustled in. "You two!" she pointed at the siblings furiously. "No Pokemon inside here! Come on, out outout~" And before M.A., Michael, and the three Pokemon knew it, they had been very graciously shoved outside the room, nearly to the elevator. Behind, they could hear a slight protest from their mother before the nurse shut her down and began to check on their father.
Mary-Anne was just a little too stunned to laugh, although once the shock from how fast they'd been deported from the room settled, a broad grin spread across her face, alongside a snicker when she saw her mother's dismayed expression. Mrs. Rustings pointed at the nurse's turned back, mouthing that this was the 'mean one.'
"We'll be back later," Michael called loudly, dragging his sister to the elevator. "C'mon, let's go out a little, mm? Your stomach was rumbling just a second ago. Either that, or it was your Pokemons'... Let's get lunch, on me."

That thing's speed is going to be Levi's downfall this battle, Kasiya thought, watching the small purple rodent scamper away from the Marshtomp as she tried to blast it with a Water Gun. The water hissed as it hit the hot floor and began to evaporate almost immediately, adding more steam to the already thick atmosphere within the gym. Kasiya wiped her forehead with the back of her gloved hand and sighed. She didn't know how Flannery could stand it in here, and she had to remind herself that his was just another part of proving (to herself) that she was tough enough for the gym leaders of Hoenn.
"All right Levi, fight back with your Ice Ball!" Kasiya commanded, deciding it was time to take out that little rat. Being from Kanto, you would have thought she'd battled many of those little things, but in truth, she'd never fought even one until now. Levi's body became covered with water and quickly froze in place, creating heavy wafts of steam as she rolled forward and slammed into the tiny rat, scoring a critical hit with her first strike. The second hit proved to be a bit weaker, but the covering of ice on the Marshtomp grew thicker (and was quite comforting for the Water-type, as this gym was very hot!).
Piro frowned and watched his Pokemon take another hit from the icy sphere, and knew his Pokemon couldn't take much more. "Okay Rattata, it's time to show her why we're a part of this fiery gym! Use your super-secret special move, now!"
Giving a cry, the purple rat darted forward, and suddenly, its small body became wreathed in flames. It charged forward with great speed, looking like a streaming comet as it smashed into Levi, the heat causing the ice to shatter in all directions and stop Levi's Ice Ball from growing larger. Kasiya recognized the move immediately, having a Pokemon of her own who was capable of using that same move - Flame Wheel.
"Okay now, I'm impressed," Kasiya laughed, giving Piro a thumbs up.

"All right Raz! Lets start this battle with your Double Team!" Robin called out hoping to gain a little bit of an extra advantage. She knew that she had the type advantage here but he didn't know any bug or flying moves. Robin watched as there were now multiple copies of Raz buzzing around the small playing field.
"Yeah well we can boost ourselves to! Sprouty use Growth!" The youngster ordered of his newly caught Bellsprout. The small grass pokemon started to glow slightly as it became more powerful.
Both trainers eyed each other for a second. The Bellsprout was wiggling around as if it was moving by some unseen force. Raz and his copies glowed slightly as there speed was boosted from his Speed Boost ability.
"Okay enough watching lets go Raz! Use your quick attack!" They had a long way to go and Robin wanted this battle over. That and she didn't really have much of a choice of moves for Raz to use. She was also to poor to afford any TM's at the moment. The small Yanma seemed to blur for a moment as both the clone and the real Raz flew at high speeds towards the enemy Bellsprout. The hit landed!
"Ok Sprouty use Wrap now that its close!" The youngster ordered with a small grin. Before Raz could escape a pair of vines reached out and grabbed Raz from out of the air. It seemed it was the real one to as it gave a small squeak and the clone disappeared. "Haha great job!"
"Ohh!" Puffing out her checks Robin couldn't help but feel irritated. "Ok fine! If you want to hold onto us then fine! Raz drag that little weed around the arena!" Giving a small cry Raz freed his wings and started to do just that dragging the Bellsprout all over picking up speed as he went. "Ha! How do you like that!" Robin laughed slightly at the sight.
The youngster just growled slightly. "Yeah well your just a stupid girl! Sprouty use your Sleep Powder!" Hanging onto the Yanma made aiming a bit difficult. Especially with the bug pokemon flying before him. However the small Bellsprout did its best to shoot a cloud of powder at him. It didn't quite work, which was a good thing to, the cloud almost made it to him but then stopped short. It turned out it was a good thing that Raz turned just then or the Bellsprout would have been hit with its own cloud.
"You better be careful." Robin taunted as Raz started to glow again and speed up dragging the small grass pokemon along. "Ok Raz how about you swing back for a Tackle attack!" Turning in mid flight his dragonfly like wings allowing that kind of maneuverability and flew back at the sprout pokemon landing a solid hit.

As the battle wore on, the small remainder of smog began to lift, and gradually visibility began to return to both the trainers and their Pokemon. Keegan wiped his brow with the back of his hand, continuing to call out encouragements to Artemis. The heat hadn't started to bother him as of yet, and it seemed the Swellow was still doing all right as well. The Houndoom was starting to look a little shaky, and Keegan knew that it was time to end this. "All right Artemis, let's bring it home! Finish it with a Wing Attack!"
The remaining copy of Artemis vanished as the Swellow flew through her own clone, slamming both of her wings into the canine's chest. It gave a whimper as it slumped to the ground, and Artemis began to sing a victorious melody as she came to land on the ground beside her trainer.
"Whoa... nice going, Keegan. You got us," Aiden said, nodding as he returned his fainted Pokemon. "I think you'll do well against Flannery. Best of luck to you," he said, before retreating to his resting place in the warm sand.
"Thanks, but I won't be relying on luck," Keegan murmured, recalling Artemis and looking around. He could hear Kasiya shouting somewhere nearby, and he figured she was probably immersed in a battle. It didn't take him long to find her though, and when he did he entered the room quietly, staying off to the side to let the girl finish her fight.

Little Guy simply scoffed as he eyed his opponent carefully:
"Why do you speak as a tool of stone and with such strange confidence? Ky and I, who together are one, can break through any such nonsense!"
"Little Guy is not fragile!" Ky called out, heated in anger. He stayed concentrated though. Now that Crenu's Larvitar was aiming to intercept Little Guy, Ky's original plan couldn't work well. Teleporting now wouldn't give the rock enough velocity, and the chance of it being dodged was far too great to risk it. Besides, Ky had another sneaky idea up his sleeve. "Change of plans Little Guy! Use Leer and grab onto Larvitar!"
Still clinging loyally to his original rock, Little Guy gaged the distance from himself to his opponent, lining up a path that would not lead him into any of the other rocks falling from above. As soon as he found it, Little Guy shoved off the rock with his surprisingly powerful legs. Darting and zipping through the rubble towards his opponent, he then locked his eyes to the Larvitar's, sending a Leer to bring down his opponent's defenses. Then, in one last aerial maneuver, he brought his talons to the front, aiming to grab the Larvitar's horn. Again, Little Guy could only guess what Ky was planning, but it didn't matter. By trusting Ky, Little Guy could show his worth, and his valor.

"He is amused by your claim of being one with your trainer. If you spent less time trying to be more than a tool then maybe you'd become as useful as he has become to his trainer."
Crenu watched as the Natu tried a new tactic, speeding for Larvitar with glowing eyes. This did not concern him though, Larvitar was tough enough to take a Leer and he didn't plan on taking a beating anyway. It was the second part of the attack that had Crenu interested, this was another high risk move that had plenty of potential. "Let him grab hold Larvitar, don't worry about it." A wide gin spread across his face as he though out multiple steps Ky could take from this position after he made a move. From what Crenu had observed, it was highly likely that Ky might try and have Little Guy teleport Larvitar rather than a point blank attack. "Whatever you're planning Ky, the field is in my favor. Larvitar, Brick Break on the platform you stand on! Let the sandstorm tear that Natu to shreds!" As Little Guy latched onto Larvitar's horn, he was still shaking away the Leer from his mind.
"When it comes own to it, the battle is between their trainers. It is the trainer that can use his tool better that will win, and it would appear that his trainer can use tools better than your trainer." One of Larvitar's hands began to glow with power as he slammed it into the platform of crumbling earth that held him atop the sand storm. With a large crack radiating from the point of impact, the platform almost instantly broke apart and Larvitar fell into the roaring vortex of sand. The tiny rocks pelted and tore away at his rocky skin, but had no effect. The same could not be said for any stow aways though...

"I still don't know why you're mad at me. But I'd much rather know that not."
"Look, it's nothing alright? I can't believe you actually followed me all the way here from Mauville." Alex sighed as she sat on chair that hung like a swing on a frame outside her house.
Jason sighed as well, but seemed to forget that there was a problem in the first place. "Well we were already a fair ways out of Mauville already. And I was heading for Verdanturf anyway so following you was really my only choice." Grinning, he sat on the little stoop of Alex's house and watched as Zeus floated around in a small circle near some power lines. He wasn't sure, but Jason thought he saw jolts of electricity jump from the lines to Zeus.
"Really, that's the reason you came to Verdenturf? It wasn't to set things right with little ol' me?" She batted hey eye lashes and pouted, but Jason seemed not to notice. "You really are hopeless aren't you?" She said with a giggle, this time she didn't seem upset by it which threw Jason for some extreme confusion.
"I guess. I mean I did want to apologize for whatever I did. But I really wanted to observe the pokemon living in the tunnel here. I don't know what my field of specialty yet, but if I keep observing then I should figure it out."
"Why do you have to pick one now? I mean think about it. You are a young pokemon watcher who is studying pokemon in the wild. Sound like Birch to me, so why don't you study what he studies for now? You are his assistant right?"
Jason laughed as he felt a wash of embarrassment come over him. "I wish I were. I'm not officially his assistant or anything, I doubt he even remembers me. But I do want to be like him, so maybe I should just try and help by studying what he does."

Kasiya saw Keegan enter the small room out of the corner of her eye, but she didn't let it distract her from the battle. She knew Levi was fully capable of taking out the Rattata, and she almost felt bad as she ordered her next attack.
"Okay Levi, time to wrap this up! Flannery is waiting for us! Use your Mud Shot!" Kasiya pulled the green bandanna from her head and used it to dab her face and forehead. She wondered how all of these trainers could stand it in here, as she was dying for a nice, cool, refreshing swim. Levi sprayed out a bit of water from her mouth, mucking up the sand on the floor around her. She then sent a good amount of it towards the Rattata, so much in fact that the tiny Pokemon had no chance to escape and took the attack head on.
"Ack! Rattata that's enough... come back," Piro said quickly, recalling the little rat Pokemon into its ball. "You won already," he said sheepishly. He then disappeared through one of the holes, probably to go and have his Pokemon healed.
"Great job Levi!" Kasiya cheered, bending down to hug the Marshtomp. Levi hopped up and down happily in her trainer's arms, glad to have been able to help. She stood up, recalling the young Pokemon and turning to Keegan. Judging by the smirk on his face, she could guess that he'd won his battle too. "Well, shall we continue?" she asked, beaming up at him happily.
