Greer's return to civilization has gone smoothly for some time.... but all good, restful things must come to an end before long. It was only a matter of time, afterall... seeing Colche might have heralded - a woman arriving later than Greer to herself to the island, already further along in her 'progression'. Your restless sleep, whose dreams are plagued by disturbing imagry, comes to a none-too-soon abrupt end as the regretful part of becoming a bird comes with the growth of the thick feather shafts. The feathers spread everywhere, from small, downy feathers that cover your torso, arms and legs, to the very long pinions that extend and supercede the existing feathers on your very winglike arms that over the coarse of the night take up an even more remarkably resemblance. Your middle finger on fuse, elongating and sprout more feathers. Fortunately, and the huge feathers do obscure them to your fear, your thumbs do remain, and the forefinger - leaving you some room for manipulation. The wings are strong, and you can imagine them catching the wind... your mind yearns for it. But the wings are yet painfully sore. Your proto beak and small talons develop, expand - your feet even more deadly weapons than they were before - and thankfully your bottom jaw seems to catch up with the upper - the teeth fusing, the beak pushing out - while the blinding pain may not make it clear to you now, but by the end of it your beak is strong, and well capable of eating more readily than before. Finally, there is a strange, pounding pain in your skull as horns grow long, curling over the back of your head.

Thankfully or not, the changes always came to her in sleep. It made it easier for the body to deal with the pain, since she wasn't conscious to fight the spasming muscles or cracking bones. But the mind... the mind came up with strange things with all those chemicals rushing around it due to the change. It whispered things to her, and played gruesome picture shows in the dark...
Greer frowned, shielding her eyes from the blinding light as best she could. She'd been sleeping, in her own bed in the duplex, and it had been far too dark for this piercing glare to be there. Was it morning already? It had come awfully fast-
"Greer! Sleeping on the job again?"
"What? I never sleep on the-" the entomologist froze, staring startled into the face of her coworker Jim. He was the main person she'd interacted with at the lab. What was he doing here?
"Not usually, but you were conked out just now. Having trouble sleeping?"
"A bit..." Why was he here? Why was he acting like nothing was wrong? Didn't he realize where they were? Didn't he see the feathers?
"Hey... are you okay? You seem out of it."
"Uh, sorry, bad night." She smiled sheepishly, pushing a hand through her hair. "I must coming down with something."
"Ick! Try not to spread it around the lab, okay? You're fun to talk to but there are somethings you should keep to yourself."
She rolled her eyes. "I'll try."
He waved and walked off, leaving her to look at her surroundings. She was in the lab- the forensics lab she'd been stuck working in when Dr. Moreau had sent her a letter to change her life. It was all like it was when she'd last been here... even she was! Her feet were normal, there were no feathers, and when she looked at her reflection in one of the steel tables, her mouth was back as it should be. Was her whole island experience a dream?
"No Greer, this is not a dream. Well, this is. This lab. This place. Not the island."
She spun at the sound of that voice, staring wide-eyed at the figure before her. It was the doctor, calm and collected in his labcoat and loafers. But that hadn't been his voice.
"Doctor...?"
"It's me, Greer."
She shook her head. "No."
"I wanted to talk to you."
"No, you're not real."
"Honey, I know it's hard for you to see me, the real me but-"
"You're not my father! Go away!"
Strong arms wrapped around her, pulling her to a man's chest. "Shhh, it's okay."
She sobbed, crying like the child that had watched her father's final moments, like the woman who had been kidnapped into a strange new life, like she'd wanted to the first time she'd heard Sean might be dead. She was so lost, so alone at that moment... and that b*****d Moreau was toying with her.
"Get away from me." she growled in a low tone, grief swapped for anger in an avian heartbeat.
"Now Greer-"
"You're not my father!" She shouted, shoving him away. The voice was right but the face was wrong. "You're the monster who did this to me!"
"Did what?"
"This!" She streaked forward, going for his throat. She heard a scream, a loud, piercing cry of a bird of prey, and knew it was coming from her mouth. She tore at him, kicking, slashing, screaming, and tasted blood.
"You don't look different to me..." the voice said, coming from somewhere other than the man beneath her. She beat the body harder, wanting to silence the noise.
"I'm a monster! A beast! I eat meat, I kill, and there are new thoughts in my head-"
"You're still my Greer."
She froze, tears streaming down her face. "Sean?"
He wrapped his arms around her, pressing her back against his stomach. His whiskers tickled her cheek as he kissed the blood away. "You're still my Sea Goddess."
"I... I think I killed..."
"Naw, it's only a dream."
She hung her head, trying not to cry. "This means you're dead, doesn't it?"
"Why d'you think that?"
"My dad..."
"The Doc isn't dead. Sadly."
"He was just here to torment me."
She felt him shrug. "I dunno, scientist lady. You tell me."
Greer laughed mirthlessly and tried to pull away. "Don't do this to me."
The Dude held on. "Just remember to live, okay? Whether I'm dead or not. For me. For your father."
"I can't-"
"You can. Be good, Ladyhawke."
She ached everywhere, suddenly able to feel her pores and none too happy that she could. Her skull hurt worse than it had last time with both face and scalp on fire. She didn't even want to think about her feet. She felt a draft where they shouldn't be and guessed she'd shredded her sheets again. Again. She'd transformed again. She didn't care. It hurt to move, but she still managed to bury her face in her pillow to muffle her tears. Her heart hurt more than anything else. She wished her emotions were still dead.
She hadn't even discovered the new issue with clothes.

She was starving, having refused to leave her room when she realized she had no way of wearing clothes. Blasted lack of hands. The entomologist flexed her arms, watching the feathers on them spread and contract according to how the muscles moved. They hurt less when she stretched.
Captain Morgan watched her from the bed, annoyed that she hadn't fed him but entertained enough by her new look not to press her about it. The meat lady looked like a giant meal!

Colche was in a good mood, she had run she had played, she had even had a swim and breakfast with friends and now, she wanted to see the kitty! Her tail twitched behind her as she padded up on silent, clawed paws towards Greers duplex. her blue eyes searched around to see if the Captain was out and about but she couldn't see a sign of the big moggy. She hoped Greer didn't mind her disturrbing her.
It took her a long moment to rememebr what she was supposed to do in this situation, but she finally tapped using her clawed fingers "Greer" she called, awaiting a reply. She wanted to see Greer and the all important kitty of course!

Colche Puurred as greer spoke and pushed the door, finding it unlocked she giggled stepping in with her tail tip twitching. She had recently started to walk more as a cheetah would, with that gentle lopeing grace but always with that playful bounce in her step "Greer!" she said again bouncing over to the feathered lady, pretty much unphased by her apperance as she always was. She tilted her head a little and giggles "everyone goin' furry n feavery today" she puurred happily bouncing to Greers bed to see the kitty "Captain Morgan!" she stated holding a furry fingered hand out to pet him. She liked the kitty.

The Captain rasied his head, sniffing the girl's fingers in hopes of food. Nothing. At this rate he'd have to feed himself! But if she wanted to pet him, well... he certainly wouldn't object.
Greer smiled... tried to smile at Colche as she came in, not sure if she managed to change her expression or not. She was glad the girl was here, not being in the mood for a deep philosophical conversation. "How are you, Princess? Are others changing today too?"

After a moment of petting the orange captain of all he surveyed Colche turned and nodded with a giggle. "Uh huh, Ambrose very fluffy" she giggles a bit her tail twitching. "Him a cute wulfee" she grinned brightly looking at greer "Greers feavers ish purty too I like." Certainly the cheetah girls vocabulary was coming on in leaps and bounds. She even understood people better these days. "Me good, nearlly time for birfday in a munf" a month, how long was that. "Oh!" she had to bequeth her knew knowlege upon everyone of course. "Colche.." she paused, wrong word "I learned where babies comes from!" she grins broadly, happy in her new deep knowlege of how babies were born though of course alot of it still perplexed her.

Greer chuckled, her bad mood already lifting. It was wonderful the island had it's own spotted ray of sunshine.
"Ambrose changed? I'm sure he looks quite dashing. I guess we're all catching up to you!" She lifted her arms, standing up and opening her wings as wide as she could. "Do you think I can fly?"
She let the baby origin comment slide by, not sure what to say about it. Talking sex with Colche wasn't something she was comfortable with.

Colche looked at Greers wings, her new found knowlege forgottena she looked at the wing span "fly like a real birdie?" she grinned broadly touching Greers feathers with a gentle claw, her furry fingers ever so delecate considering what she could do with those claws if it ever came down to it. "Try?" she tilted her head softly, a curious look in her eyes. If Greer could fly, just think how fun that could be! She could imagine flying, it must be really amazing. "purty feathers clever too" she grins her long tail twitchign if Greer was going to fly she wanted to be theer when it happened. Maybe she could hitch a ride like aladin did on the magic carpet? Perhaps she should ask that question later though, the idea of flying was just amazing to her.

Greer nodded. "Maybe, I don't really know. I'd like to try, but I don't want to hurt myself if it turns out I can't. Jumping of buildings when you can't fly is never good."
Looking over her friend, she cocked her head. "Can you run really fast?"

Colche grinned. Now there was a subject she could get her clawsin to "uh huh, really fast" she grins "win race much fun" she was of course refareing to the races she had challanged people to which she had easily won over a short distance. She really enjoyed running. "If Greer no fly colche catch" she grins once again, pretty determined she could catch greer.

Colche tilted her head, Greers question confused her so she shrugged it off "just catch no get hurt" she smiled and puurred, hugging greer "greer not fod silly" she grins, her tail tip twitching. It would be a strange day the day that the little cheetah girl was acctually capable of attacking with the thought to eat anyone, everyone was pretty much bigger than her even with her cheetah genes.

She laughed returning the hug. "I suppose not, especially since I eat meat now too."
Greer nipped at the girl's head jokingly. "Mmm, Colche tasty?"
