The girl continued to shiver. "They sayyy ththey w-won't let go. They're going to whisper secrets... things I shouldn't know, they'll trick me, they'll make me say it. Then they'll take me when I sleep... Everyone, they'll make me take everyone!" she cried out. She sounded afraid, but also resigned, like her fate was set. "They're going to tell me about my mother..."

Suddenly she sat up and blinked her eyes open. The light from them seemed softer. "Rogue? Wha--"

But her question was cut off as her head snapped to the side involuntarily. A red hand mark appeared in her other cheek, paralleling the one Ora's own slap had left, and the light faded to nothing as A.C. blinked in shock. She looked around and her jaw dropped, then looked hard at Jeff and Ora.

"Where did they go? And where's Lanita?" She rubbed her stinging cheeks with a frown.

"They lie. I can tell you for a certainty they have no power here. They have no ability to harm any of us. They only use foolish boasts in order to gain more power than they already have, which is very little."

Ora glanced down in curiosity at the hand mark, but gave little reaction. "Lanita died. The wounds were too much for her to handle, especially when placed under the stress of the situation. To suffice, it was her own choices that led to her downfall, but that doesn't matter when you lose a friend. Believe me or not, I do know the feeling of loss."

A.C. gaped up at her. "What!? No, that's no right, she's the Rogue! The Rogue doesn't die." She laughed and pushed herself off the ground with her one unwithered arm. "T'ft joke, con lady. I'm not stupid enough to believe that. Where is she really?"

Ora stared at her a moment. "I have a bizarre sense of humor, but this is not part of it. If she is not dead, she does a very good job at acting as a dead body. She collapsed after you ran. I believe it was an attempt to save you and sacrifice herself....as well as sacrifice the rest of the ship in the process, but no good in thinking about that now." Ora paused. "The body is still in the prison, I believe. We never had time to transfer it to the makeshift-morgue."

A.C.'s smirk faded as Ora mentioned sacrifice. "That's..." She faltered. "What?" It was obvious that the girl had never had to deal with the death of someone close to her before. One eye flickered with light again, but then both eyes paled to a light yellow. "But I... I came to save her..."

Ora nodded her head, but kept quiet. There was nothing she could really say that wouldn't come out as cruel or insensitive.

A.C. shook her head and took a deep breath, trying to clear her head. She swallowed and asked, "Did she say anything? Was that electricity her taser glove?" She gestured to her withered and burned left arm. "It was pretty strong."

"Yes, it was her taser glove, and I don't recall if she said anything." Ora glanced at the burned arm and nodded, "it disabled my suit for a short period of time. There was little anyone could do."

The street kid looked crushed. She took another deep breath and rubbed her arm. "T'ft ma kari. Nobody said her rites, either. F's'tck." She tried to keep calm, but her lip trembled and she started crying.

A.C. looked up at Ora. "Can you take me to her?"

"What good would it do for you?" Ora asked, tilting her mask slightly.

The girl's voice broke. "I just want to see her. I just saw her, she..." A.C. held a hand up to the second slap mark on her cheek. "I just need to see her."

Ora held out her hand. "Come on, even though it might be safer here than at the prison."

A.C. took her hand with a stubborn look. "No foreigners yik'u mess up a Rough. They try, they better be ready for a fight."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 29, 2008 9:56 pm

"No foreigners did mess up a rough, as I said earlier, the event was the result of a her own choices." Ora took the hand and teleported to the prison.

Haldis appeared on the bridge with a quick flash of light, and skipped up to the controls, ignoring the people around her. She had a smile placed on her childish face as she began pushing buttons and typing in codes. It seemed like random work at first, but when she finished, a mechanical voice echoed across the ship. "Lockdown released."

The Gilgamesh was functioning again. Haldis started to whistle to herself as she ran from different sets of countrols and began guiding the broken ship into movement, directed towards the small planet not too far from their current position. The ship wouldn't have been able to make it much farther than that.
