xd I don't think I've thought that before, but now that you mention it...
I think it's because I'm sometimes a reserved person, so they think it's cute that I'm involved with someone.

I think what it means is that no one knows anything about him. Either way I'd be more afraid of him because I'm unsure of what he is capable of.

Personally, I would try to talk to both men and see what makes them have a past or no past at all. That is just too little information to go by. Given that this acquaintance, who as given you the information, is someone you barely know, they themselves might be lying or really have no knowledge of the situation.
