ashlander_alpha Gravechylde Digital Malevolence Gravechylde Digital Malevolence Yeah, I never said I agreed, I only heard that arguement. and in almost all gothic metal bands I've heard, theres black metal elements in almost all gothic metal bands, even in; Type O, Within Temptation, PoisonBlack, and Tristania....I never really listened to Paradise Lost. I haven't heard any in Poisonblack, or Paradise Lost (I haven't listened to the others too much). Poisonblack is more along the lines of Heavy/Post-thrash. Hmm, I suppose you're right.....but I would say its safe to agree that a good 75% of Gothic Metal has black metal influences and elements. I'm not really familiar enough with the genre to really say. Though I think 75 percent is too high of a guess, I would say that quite of few of the early gothic metal or turned-gothic bands played more intense music beforehand. For instance, two of my favorite GM bands, Sentenced and Tiamat, both had drastically different musical styles in the beginning. Tiamat's latest album "Amanethes" is much more mellow than BM, but the lyrical content and themes would be very much at home in a classic black metal album.Well then it's a wonderful thing that lyrics don't make genres.
