Artica sighed, but nodded to her friend. "I swore I'd help, so I will," she said firmly, following the hopeful heir in.

Ahren walked in the king's chambers after Varnis, twirling her staff idly. She glanced back at the two mages, her face impassable. "Who are you?" she asked. "This doesn't seem like the best time to be chasing butterflies in the castle. You do know that the king sent out his fighters to request an audience with all adventurers."

Chibi Ten Ahren's solemn face wrinkled as Luxran explained. "I'm so sorry," she murmured, her lips a tense line. "Do you know who it was? I don't blame you for coming here. Is there any way we can help?" She spoke softly, though emotion leaked into her normally calm voice. Footsteps approached behind them, two sets of feet. Ahren glanced behind her to see the mages she had seen earlier running towards the castle. Putting their strange behavior out of her mind, she turned back to Luxran. ((sorry i've been gone)) "The bandits kidnapped her." Luxran said. "They went into the cave and they want my families secret treasure."

"Artica and Aaron," the Sorceress said distractedly before rounding on the other mage. "Are we going to chase it threw the entire castle, Aaron?" she demanded to know.

((All right I am using my Gm powers. Everyone is now In the throne room!)) As the entire group entered the throne room, they where mystified by the beauty of it all. The tall statues, the deep red carpets, the towering towers, the marble floors and walls. The three thrones, at the end of the carpet on top of three steps. The king sat in the middle one still in pain from his earlier encounter. The king sat there in his blue, and silver armor. "I have called you all here, for a special request form me directly." He paused for a moment. "You are adventures are you not? I had thought so." He looked over the group of them all. "You have heard of the cave that is to the east of the town right? I need you all to go into there and kill what ever lies in there. What ever you get as treasure, you can keep." Looking at them again. "You need equipment before you go into the cave. I will give you all 0ne-thousand gold." He then told his guards to hand out the gold to all of them. "I expect you to use this money wisely. Go an buy you're selves what you will be needing. I will meet you at the entrance to the cave when you are ready. Now go, and meet me at the cave once you are all rested, and ready to go." With that he motioned them away. < > Gain 1,000 gold

Ahren remained in the throne room after the king waved them away. Her gaze was locked on the king in his throne, unabashed and steady. "With all due respect, your Majesty, I do not understand this. What reason do I, or any of us, have to follow your command? I do not live here. You hold no authority over me. Why do you not send your fighters to do your bidding? Why empty your treasury to folk such as us?" She extended her hand, her share of the coin in an outstretched palm. "I do not need your gold, your Majesty. I have no reason to do as you say. What lies in that cave, and why ask us to kill it? Give me answers, and then I will consider it." Ahren knelt, her gaze never leaving his armored form. "Forgive my insolence, your Majesty, but I will not serve any man blindly."

Aaron winced at Artica's tone while addressing the king, which he felt, was more then slightly accusing.
"But I have to find..." he trailed off, unsure if now was a good time to 'chase butterflies'.

The king slowly stood up as Ahren shouted at him. "The reason why I have sent for you is because I need to get rid of the evil that lies in that cave. You all have special abilities that can be used to your full potential. The reason why I do not send my own men there is also because they do not have the ability fight what is in that cave, and if there where to be any thing to escape the cave, who would protect my town?" He said with a booming voice. "Now please take the gold that I gave you, and buy your stuff that you need."
The king went to sit down as Artica shouted towards him.
"Do not treat the king with such disrespect!" One of the guards shouted out.
"Its ok, she might not know any better." He said to the guard. "Now, how would you know me? We have never met before." He said to Artica.

Artica made an exaspirated noise in the back of her throat, and took out the Clear Orb. Tossing it from one hand to the other with seeming absentmindedness, she shrugged inoccently, not rising to the bait.

"Ah. So thats who it was that I gave the orb too." He said as he watched her toss the orb around like it was a ball. "I am having trouble remembering things at this age, and I do not really pay attention to details as he should have." He stood there wanting to say something else but he decided not to.
"But why would you talk to me so disrespectfully like that?" He said as he waited for her response.

"Oh, I talk to everyone like that," she replied nonchantedly. "Even Lord Knoll Jr. over there," she pointed to Aaron. "I have unresolved issues," she smiled sweetly.

"Multiple personalities, all with equally horrible dispositions," was the blunt reply.

"That would be a great help to us." He said as he walked over to her. "Multiple personalities, can help a great deal, when there is a fight afoot. But it can hurt you greatly too." He said as he stood in front of her, wondering what other personalities she has.
