Laps: 3/20

Her second lap came and went by swiftly. Elruda had paid no attention to the crocodiles snapping away in the surrounding lake and barely noticed the cold wind brushing her cheek. Occasionally, she would stop momentarily, and brush a loose strand of dark blue hair away from her eyes, tucking it behind her ear. While she was far from enjoying these endurance runs, it wasn't exactly simply just painful either. It was...a bit exhilarating... Feeling the world blur by without a care... Feeling the wind wrap around her figure...

Laps: 4/20

However, by the time she reached her fourth lap, Elruda discovered she would need to rest. And really badly too. The Fujiko estate was quite large...it was amazing that she even made it this far without resting. Not bothering anymore with dignity, the Hyuuga heiress plopped to the ground, dropping into sitting position. Her feet...they were tired and sore. Slowly, she held up her right hand to her forehead, rubbing at her temples. But she rested for only about a minute or two, before rising again after having caught her breath. She did not bother with dusting off her clothes but continued running.

Laps: 5/20

Her little break did indeed help, and Elruda was able to finish her fifth lap without too much trouble. She had to admit, the scenery around the temple was quite beautiful... From the willow trees to the exotic flowers, the lake, though dark, glittered in certain parts which caught the dim light of the moon and stars. It looked...almost like the galaxy itself, dark and unending but with billions of stars just slightly illuminating the way, until becoming a giant jewel... The wind was soft and gentle, though a bit chilly, but Elruda did not mind at all.

Wrath finally had returned to the temple later that after noon. When he approached the temple he realized that his pupil had not finished all the tasks he had given her. But since she was running laps he assumed that she did finish learning the taijutsu. He walked over to the temple entrance and sat on the steps to watch Elruda run around the Fujiko complex.

((Midterms this week. - weeps -))

Laps: 6/20

Elruda continued running, now on her sixth lap, but became more aware of her surroundings. Six times, she had watched that tiny swallow napping on the willow tree. And once she saw a mother squirrel with her three baby squirrels...six times, the crocodile snoozing a bit too far on shore for her comfort, its dark hide making it look like a rather demented scaly log. The moonlight gently bathed the corners of the temple's elegant roof, before whatever illumination that got through the thicket of trees reached her. She held out her hands, pale skin lit slightly aglow. The moonlight...it was a bit warm... Smiling to herself, Elruda pushed herself harder. She would finish this lap soon.

Laps: 7/20

The night was drawing closer to its prime...and the air became more chilly. Elruda shuddered a bit, but did not mind it so much. On the most part, the wind was almost like a soft blanket wrapping around her figure. She pushed herself harder, trudging her feet across the slightly damp ground. The laps were becoming more challenging...tiring...but she can't afford to stop here. But alas, she was quite exhausted, and she stopped for a moment, hand against the rough bark of a nearby oak tree. Not giving another thought, the Hyuuga heiress sank into seating position, contenting herself with observing the sky.

Laps: 8/20

Indeed a beautiful sight...the sky was a deep sapphire blue...if another should watch the girl may even say the sky resembled closely to her hair colour. Moonlight bathed her hands as she held them out in front of her, a curious look in her eyes. Her eyes looked like soft dragon pearls under the silvery-blue light. Without another thought, the girl dipped a finger into the lake water, before letting a gleaming, silvery drop drip back home. A small smile lit her features, before Elruda slowly got up, and began running again. After all, when she completes this lap, there will still be twelve more to go.

Laps: 9/20

As Elruda neared the end of her eighth lap, she stopped, allowing a sharp intake of cold air into her body. Her stomach hurts from all the running...and her heart was beating rapidly. No...it wasn't a good idea to stop immediately. So she took to a slow walk before beginning her ninth lap. As soon as she caught her breath, Elruda resumed her assignment - though a little more slowly, as she was indeed exhausted. Her feet was beginning to ache...and her knees felt wobbly... But wasn't that the greatest achievement of an athlete? To overcome barriers...

Laps: 10/20

The remaining laps still seemed like an overwhelming task for her. But she would have to endure... After all, even for members of her clan...their speed didn't come easily. It came with practice, harsh practice... And the training required to maintain the speeds of Rokujuuyonshou and Hyakunijuuhachishou... She shuddered simply thinking about it. How long did it take her brother? A total of a month...and a week. Less than the average Hyuuga, but was still an overwhelming amount... And she had seen the harsh scars chakra burns could cause...from the overuse of chakra-based techniques, even for the most experienced shinobi in chakra control.

Laps: 11/20

It's still no good! Elruda thought bitterly, as it was becoming harder to move herself forward. Just being born to Hyuuga was almost a set curse in itself. The clan, since they did not emphasize on strength...meant the clan members barely had any physical strength or physical endurance at all. Everything relied on their precise chakra control for their Juuken Kempo...to quickly dispatch their opponents. Her body shuddered, from the cold evening air and from trying so hard to keep herself from collapsing. But, she only have nine more laps to go... Somehow, she would have to make it... Somehow...

Laps: 12/20

She was able to push herself to the end of her eleventh lap. But, her limbs felt so heavy that movement was difficult. Heh. The Hyuuga heiress mused. It seems nothing in this world comes easily... Not even for those of a clan long specializing in taijutsu. Speed, power, and grace. The others sure have stereotyped the Hyuugas. Just like any other shinobi, members of her clan work just as hard...to master maintaining the extreme speeds for their techniques. Gritting her teeth, Elruda forced one foot before her, and then the other... A slow, unchanging pattern. No, she can't give up... She will finish this assignment...as many times necessary, to increase her physical stamina.

Laps: 13/20

Perhaps it was her determination...but now a renewed energy coursed through her body. Elruda found that if she focused hard enough, she could easily direct chakra to her feet to create a light cushion to protect the soles of her feet from all the harsh running. Interestingly enough...she could made a slight chakra cushion against the joints of her knee and ankle as well. It helped relieve some of the stress and the lighter she made her steps, the further she could go without needing to stop and catch her breath. Interesting. Additionally, Elruda found that if she didn't start off like a madman, she tends to be able to finish a lap easier.

Laps: 14/20

In some ways, she supposed a novice at field track like her would be considered to have stumbled upon 'the basics'. Little tricks and such to make running slightly easier. Normally, when shinobi speed off at insane speeds...it usually weren't their physical stamina. The speed they moved at was either increased with chakra, like the Shunshin or Hirashin... Goken and Juuken practicers were an exception, trained to surpass the human body's limits. Goken breaks the limits with Hachimon and releases the body's full speed and strength capabilities. Juuken breaks the body's limits and heads into a category of near impossible speed...due to how swiftly it is performed. Elruda smiled a little to herself. A slight elevation in the land before her...she would have to slow down a little. That way, when she reach the highest point, she would have a slight bonus from gravity when running downwards without expending her energy running up...

Laps: 15/20

Elruda smiled to herself tiredly...just five more laps to go. It was quite late now, and she could see the deathly still, unmoving forms of the crocodiles, sound asleep within the river. A mother swallow tucks her babies in, keeping a close watch into the night. Somewhere, a nightingale struck a crystalline note. And further ahead, the sleeping village of Ame made no noise. Elruda closed her eyes partly. It was so serene here. A gentle breeze blew a short, dark-blue strand of air astray, and she stopped to tuck it behind her ear. In the back of her mind, the image printed like a vividly colored photo into her memory.

Laps: 16/20

On her sixteenth lap, Elruda did not bother to stop at all. She was excited at the prospect of finishing the assignment, and was pushing herself harder than ever. Her feet were no longer trudging along the ground, but she was picking them up and setting them down. The little tricks she discovered earlier also helped, and she was able to run slightly longer between the little breaks she took to catch her breath. She still wasn't able to adjust her breathing correctly. But then again, some things would take more time to learn...
