Actually, I pay attention very much to the details. I'm a guy who looks at the overally picture, then go deeper to see what made the things as they were. You're talking to a computer science/ art guy here. When it comes to detail, hardly anything passes by my eyes. When I read these fights, I sit down with something to snack on and start to read as if it's some book. I make notes and then make my decisions.

Alright.. Fair enough.

Just one more question. Did you do that with profiles, or did you just skim them?

When I judge a match, I open up two tabs, each with a profile of the participants of the fight. I review the profiles before I begin the fight, to make sure there are no inconsistencies. When you see my judgements, you'll see what I'm talking about.

The only "inconsistency" in my fight involves the last attack I made.

Basically using a special ability in a way that I hadn't listed it could be used, so I had to make it much weaker than normal and only usable once.

But at least I won.

I'm going to go ahead and say that that inconsistency was noted in my judgement, at least.

I wouldn't say using an ability listed in a profile in a different way is really an inconsistency. As long as you don't add some special one time only properties I'd imagine it should be ok.

Like for example, take the Kamehameha. If a person had a character that was as innovative as Goku to use it to propel a mini-sub or to actually fire it from their feet instead of their hands, that should be in the limits. Now I guess if Goku all of a sudden decided his Kamehameha could turn water into wine, then I'd personally have a problem.

But yeah, all of this gets into really subjective territory that most people probably won't agree on entirely.

I know that "creativity." However, there's a limit to how creative you can. When it comes to psychic powers, they are so vague and freeform that you can do whatever you want with them. That's why I ask for strict rules as to what a person can do with them so they won't pulling out stuff that isn't specifically listed in the profile.

For example, Damon used one of his psychic powers together with another one to make one be "propelled" when it was normally hooked to the arm. If an ability is meant to be just stuck to the arm for blade reasons, that is where it is. If it's suddenly shot out by another psychic power, doesn't it lose its focus as it leaves his body and becomes just like the blunt wave? He made the psychic blade like it was a different object when in application, it was nothing but an extension of his body forming a blade along the forearm. I didn't buy that he could do that, not without listing such flexibility in his profile, so I had to mark against him for it.

That's understandable. Most things where it's just direct energy manipulation instead of casting spells are pretty vague. Everything from psionics to chi, they all do pretty much the same thing. I mean, look at Naruto lol!

So I know I asked this some where else before, wasn't here but..

Let's say you have a character and in the profile it has something very vague like "can manipulate X energy" and in the profile you give some upper limits of destructive power. Would you be penalized for the character to give a random augmented attack a name in the moment of battle if you stay by the limits that are set for manipulating X energy already?

Like, you know you have those characters like Kamina lol.

Note: If you ever come up with a possibly ingenious new method of using a previously stated ability, make to double check with a judge first.

Well, do what you feel you need to.

All I was wanting to do was see if I could justify using a combination of both moves. The sharpness of the blade with the extension of the wave. razz

Seemed like a pretty damn good idea at the time, and if I could think of it, why can't my character?

Obviously the problem was actually using it, and when it was used, it had to be weak and cancel out the sword. Loss of concentration and the strain of trying to maintain two different abilities at the same time.

Sad thing is it didn't even hit like I wanted to. Oh well.

I'd begin a long-winded rant on the Serpentine Manipulation and versatility and all that jazz, but instead-

That's why I usually post a quote from my character's Powers section, and then explaining how he's deviating from it and why it works.

See: Using his flying knee attack to powerslide across the ground, throwing people with his spin attack, doing a multi-headbutt combo, etc.

I don't think I've ever been counted off for it, usually the opposite for finding new ways to implement old things.
