*Guy holds up the hand with his own ring. He generates a flight aura around himself. Then a bubbleshield. Finally, he reabsorbs it, then creates a giant pair of hands . . . and morphs them into a hammock supporting himself in midair.*

Oh I see. They're powered by an emotion or strength of will. Is there really a ring for love? That seems so splendid of a thing. Are they very nice people?

Depends on who you ask, I guess. For a long-a** time, the Star Sapphires were . . . well. Sort of dangerous. Thet were less about "love" and more about "possession," I think. But you'd have to ask Hal Jordan about Carol Ferris. Or John Stewert about that Fatality chick.
Then again, the Sapphire I met was fairly decent and level headed.

It also helps that Sapphires seem to have a LITTLE more free will, now that they've gone the Power Ring route. I think the prior incarnation involved something more invasive and mind-altering.
I really don't know for sure, though. Star Sapphires are all female. I think.

Well, like I said. The Sapphires have changed. At least a little bit. Now, they seem to be pretty decent. The few that I know, at least.
