Ashram- Well, I suppose, I think it's strange the religion of Satanism keeps a name that causes such confusion as most do not. They're seperate religions, and I have no idea what people who actually worship Satan would be called.

To say it's different things to different people would be like someone saying "Christianity is different things to different people, there are some that worship Jesus, and some who worship trees. But they still call themselves Christian, so they are Christian."

Its all about perspective...and there are people who think the way you just stated.

You would be very surprised how some people think. The Chinese believe that all (or at least a large majority) of Americans are Christians. Why? They consider it our national religion. Our stereotypical ideas of what Buddhism is are no where near their ideas of what Buddhim is.

Teh awesome

I'd like to close my eyes and go numb
but there's a cold wind coming from
the top of the highest high-rise today.
It's not a breeze cause' it blows hard.
Yes and it wants me to discard the humanity I know,
watch the warmth blow away.

So don't let the world bring you down.
Not everyone here is that ******** up and cold.
Remember why you came and while you're alive
experience the warmth before you grow old.

So do you think I should adhere to that pressing new frontier?
And leave in my wake a trail of fear
Or should I hold my head up high
and throw a wrench in spokes by
leaving the air behind me clear

So don't let the world bring you down.
Not everyone here is that ******** up and cold.
Remember why you came and while you're alive
experience the warmth before you grow.

So don't let the world bring you down.
Not everyone here is that ******** up and cold.
Remember why you came and while you're alive
experience the warmth before you grow old.

Before you grow old.
Where did it go?

Ashram- That's why stereotypes bite a**. Always. And I know how most people don't know doo doo about Buddhism, it's way different from most. As for perspective, I can say the clear noon sky is red, but I'm still wrong.

Messiah- Thanks for the termonology, I knew they were different, just didn't know what to call them sweatdrop

AFI- God Called in Sick Today

Let's admire the pattern forming. Murderous filigree.
I'm caught in the twisting of the vine. Go ascend with ivy, climbing.
Ignore and leave for me the headstone crumbling behind. I can't help my laughter as she cries.
My soul brings tears to angelic eyes.
Let's amend the classic story, close it so beautifully, I'll let animosity unwind.
Steal away the darkened pages, hidden so shamefully. I'll still feel the violence of the lines.
I can't stand my laughter as they cry. My soul brings tears to angelic eyes.
And miles away my mother cries. Omnipotence, nurturing malevolence.

Are you? As the old saying goes, another man's trash is another man's treasure. Perspective does not deal much with things that are considered "absolutes" or "common knowledge", like your example.

You could go to any city and walk around and ask random people what the term "satanist" means...you will get a variety of answers. Whose right?

But the trash treasure thing is based on opinion not fact. What a religion believes in is a fact (not the belief itself, but what the religion is made of)

Like it's a fact that Athiests don't believe in god, even though that belief itself is an opinion.

And the people who give the definition of true satanism are right. The rest are ignorant. Just like Chinese who believe American's are all fat lazy Christians are ignorant. Most don't have the info, so they assume. And assuming makes an a** out of u and me.

Who determines what the true definition is? I can guarantee that there are groups of people who claim to be true satanists whose beliefs are nowhere near another group of people who claim to be true satanists.

Well then...Messiah's given one person's view on what satanism is...lets see what Webster's dictionary says:

Merriam-Webster
Function: noun
Usage: often capitalized
1 : innate wickedness : DIABOLISM
2 : obsession with or affinity for evil; specifically : the worship of Satan marked by the travesty of Christian rites

Contrast and controversy are the evilness. gonk xp

Oh god! The Dictionary gives the Christian definition of it? How can such a knowledgable book be so ignorant and aargh... Webster, you've failed me.....

Anyhoo, I think the followers of the religion are the ones who are correct. There is an established church of satan, which follows satanism. Anyone else, including those who worship satan, are devil worshipers, NOT satanic. Some of them just don't have a clue what they're doing, and call it satanism.

Informed follower of Satanism
Satanism and devil worship are two distinctly different animals. Devil worship is what it is: the worship of an external deity (in this case, a "devil"), much as it could be labeled inverse Christianity -- that is, confining yourself to the Christian religion and overall model, but merely choosing the "bad guy" in their Bible instead of the purportedly central character. The Satan in Satanism is an archetype, one many know by name and is relative to the culture. Some Satanists choose different aspects of this archetype, depending on geography or just plain aesthetics, but the same characteristics still hold true. It would make little sense for us to claim to embody the archetypal qualities of Satan (rebellion, rational self-interest, carnality, etc.) on one hand, and then attempt to worship an anthropomorphic Satan on the other. In laymen's terms, it's hardly rebellious to worship a figure that represents rebellion. The Satanist finds unproductive and one-sided idol worship to be draining and useless (not to mention hypocritical). Much of this is aptly mentioned in The Satanic Bible and the other books listed in the Satanism section of this website.

AFI- Morning Star

I saw a star beneath the stairs glowing through the melting walls.
Who will be the first to begin their fall?
Or will we become one?
Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I a ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?
I saw a star beneath the stairs glowing bright before descent
and in the morning there is nothing left but what's inside of me.
And I don't want to die tonight; will you believe in me?
And I don't want to fall into the light.
Will you wish upon?
Will you walk upon me?
I don't want to die tonight.
Will you.

Bowling is my life and it has always been my dream
to be a member of the local bowling team, but I'm not very good.
The guys won't accept me, I guess I try the girls team
and lose a part of my anatomy then balls will roll.
I think I want to be...
Balls will roll, I think it's time,
it's time for me to be a girl.
It's a very big decision, it's going to change my life.
I'll have to make all new friends, I'm gonna lose my wife.
But that's okay with me. There's something in my soul.
It doesn't matter who's the better man, it the man who gets to bowl.
Balls will roll. I think I want to be...
Balls will roll, I think it's time, it's time for me to be a girl.
Go! I've made my decision, I'm gonna make the change.
There will be rolling balls, I'm gonna play my game.
It's gonna be so great. It's gonna be the best,
besides, I've always told myself I look good in a dress.
I'm gonna cut 'em off, I'm gonna cut 'em off, I'm gonna cut 'em off.
I'll never have to cough.
Now I've made my change and I've fulfilled my dream.
I'm now a member of the women's bowling team.
I hope I throw a strike, cause I'll never score again.
My first game is tomorrow, I will go to play and then...
Balls will roll. I think I want to be...
Balls will roll, I think it's time, it's time for me to be.

I like that AFI song xd
