lunashock Ritz, I'm saying boy, for silly superstitious reasons and for fun! I kinda think I'm having a boy, too. Tetravus would be ecstatic. (Of course, if we had a girl, she would be daddy's little girl, and he would love it, I know.)

I went to post and lost my internet connections... sad I wanted to say Luna that your son and you did a wonderful job on that cake. Reminds me of when my kids were younger and tried to help.
TexasMomma, I also did not get to start learning American/English until I was 8 years old. My first language was Ukrainian and then I moved to Germany without my family and only spoke German. I went from a language with 40+ letters to a language with 30 Letters in it and then to American with 26 letters, but alot more grammer rules. Then I was bored in Jr High and High school and I took 4 languages at the same time, English of course, German, French and Latin. Ich Spreche Deutsche, Je Parle un peu, Non Hable Espaniol, and I just remember how to conjegate my Latin Verbs. stressed

Illiana_Galean My first language was sign language. Both my grandparents are deaf. I refused to 'talk' until I was around 5. Made kindergarten a little difficult. That's so neat! I wish I knew ASL. Actually I have taken quite a few lessons, and it seems to me that I pick it up really easily compared to many languages. It must be how it was developed. I use to work like 2 miles from the Tennessee School of the Deaf. So we would have a lot of deaf people come into our pharmacy. While I couldn't hold a conversation with them, I know it was nice to actually have someone actually care enough to do basic communication with them. We plan on doing baby sign language with Boo.

Ugh, I'm sorry Glitter, does he not see why you don't want her to?
Wow Uni, you really did well in those! Glad you're back!
Sign language is really cool, I learned a tiny bit for Girl Scouts, but I have a hard enough time getting Logan to speak period, so we didn't do the baby sign language.

They say that teaching them sign language (the baby kind modified ASL) makes them LESS frustrated with communication in general because even if they can't say it they know the sign for it.
However, they ALSO say on the flip side it can take them longer to USE words. Not learn them just use them because signing is so easy.

However, they ALSO say on the flip side it can take them longer to USE words. Not learn them just use them because signing is so easy. I've heard that criticism of it before. And I have to say that it makes perfect sense. However, about a couple of months ago I saw a news story on it (probably because the two news anchors on the network I watch are married and do it with their kids). One of the things that they brought up was that there were studies done on that, and no statistical difference was found in the length of time it took to actually speak. Though I have to wonder if that means that they just speak around the same time and do not use complex communication as early or if everything is the same.
