..A lot of MMOs let you into the beta with pre-purchase, it's the difference between having to sign up and see if you get in, and paying to make sure you get in.
On that note, I have three DOTA 2 keys, and I signed up for the beta and got in for free.
Also, the game DOES tell you certain heroes can't use certain item because it won't even offer them to you, or will gray them out. At least, last I played it did (such as BTs with Vengeful Spirit). Same with ORBs, it tells you that they don't stack, or if the attack modification will work with others.

I'll stand by the statement Okami made and just say that we could run with two judges scores (more than some prior years) to keep things moving, and teach the third judge DURING round two.
