Vladimir says "That would be nice. I would like a chance to get to know you all better...and I would like to visit with you Sonja. I have things to say to you. Maybe we can have a father-daughter talk tomorrow, just the two of us."

Lissa says giving in, "Okay fine we will get one of those crib toys for Aislina." She sees the box..."Wow that is amazing and so beautiful. Thank you Vladimir." She feels the velvet fabric, it was soft and comfortable and he had reinforced to box somehow so it was very sturdy now like it was made of wood but it was still the box. Alex seemed to like the material as he grips it in his little fingers. "Soft huh...nice." she says to Alex.

Aki says "Oh your bear is in your room. I will get it." He goes to her room to get her bear and brings it back. "Here you go."

Vladimir winces when Sonja says dawn...must take after her mother...he says "I am more of a night person but I will make an exception. I will wake up for you." When she asks about the rooms he looks at Amanda for her to decide.

Aki was kind of smitten with Sophia so he was kind of happy that she thought he was great. He has a little smile and stood a little straighter. "It is okay." he says.

Yuki explains to Nate. "Alex liked the box the tent came in but mommy thought the box might hurt Alex so grandfather made the box safe for Alex to play."

((Oops sorry yes.))

Vladimir says "okay you get the kids ready and I will wait in the living room by the fire. Goodnight Aki, goodnight Yuki, and goodnight Sophia...oh yes and goodnight young master Alex with your new palace." He chuckles.

The twins hug and kiss their grandparents . "Goodnight!"

Eric goes to help Stephan ..."I will carry Alex's box to his room."

Eric puts the box in Alex's room and returns and shows Vladimir and Amanda downstairs. "You can sleep here in these rooms or together in that room as you wish. Goodnight." He goes back upstairs. The twins run off with Sophia to get ready for bed. They come back and Eric says to Sonja "Why don't you go down to have your chat with your father. I will read the kids a story before bed."

Vladimir nods as Eric leaves and says to Amanda "Would you like to be together or would you like me to sleep in the other room? I will be the gentleman and let you decide. But first I will go to wait for Sonja to come down. I wish to tell her my story so that she will know." He gives Amanda a kiss then goes to meet Sonja in the living room and sits by the fire in a large winged back hair.

Eric reads the kids a short story then tucks them into bed. They say "Goodnight Daddy as they fall asleep.

Vladimir nodded to Amanda before meeting Sonja. Vladimir pours imself a drink and sits. "I have enjoyed tonight....I wish to tell you my story....i was born a vampre, not turned...which means you come from what we consider royal blood. We like the angels live a very long time. When I met your mother there was a long ongoing war between the demons and angels and the vampires sided with the demons..We loved each other but it would not work out because we could never be together in any world at the time. We parted but i did not know your mother was with child. I needed an heir so I took a mate...she died shortly after giving birth to our son. You have a half brother who I raised to take my place in family business. I found out about you much later when your mother sent Kingston to search for you. He came to me and told me to talk to your mother and so I did...he asked if you had gone to me but you had not....and so I waited to hear of you.....you know most of the rest."

"You judged your mother harshly for giving you up. But she did what she thought best. The war was terrible Your husband's father died fighting in those wars. Being a halfling you even as my child would not have been protected. You would have had to fight for your right to live and most certainly would be dead or I would have had to kill you myself to keep order in the realm....and yes, I would have killed you back then. I have killed many in my past. Considering the war....your husband is very kind to me knowing i might have battled his father during the wars. There is a truce now so you are safe and I now have the power to protect you all."

Vladimir says "I am just stating how things were when you were born. I didn't have the power then that I have now and unfortunately the ways of our ancestors are no nice. If it were now, I would have to power to save you and keep you safe but I would have had to follow the rules back then. I could not have saved you even if I gave my life because the ways of our people are primal and cruel like that of the natural world...you would have been on your own. I would not have killed you for being a halfling, I would have had to kill you if you were weak and were not able to fend for yourself during the war because I was too weak then to save you. It is our way of mercy so that you should not have to struggle and suffer. If the weak were allowed to live, then we would be weakened as a whole and as a royal it was my responsiblity to think of the preservation of our race and not just my own young.

Things are different for you now with Eric and Aislina than it was for your mother and you. You forgave us because we saved you. But you are still angry at the choices that were made.

I can tell you now, that there is a trunce and I have enough power to help protect you and your family now. And that is why I gave you and your nekos those necklaces. No one will harm you from my world when you have those.

I cannot speak to what your mother did other than what I can speculate as to why she did what she did. You will need to speak to her. Many women give up children for adoption because they feel it would be best, even humans. She thought you would be adopted and be happy living in a human household. She could not have know your struggles when she did what she did. And like many human mothers, she chose to give you up completely. What if your life was happy instead of how it was? Would she have tempted herself to steal you away from your happy family? It was unfortunate what happened to you, I admit but it happened and I cannot change it.

Your brother's name is Tarik and he is your age because I took my mate just after your mother and I split up but since vampires gestate faster than angels he would have come first. I have told him of you and he would like to meet you one day. He has a mate named Ryuu and she is a demon but they have not had children yet. He does not hate angels. In general we do not hate angels we just do not keep company with them because we aligned with the demons who are hated by angels."

Vladimir was a little surprised that she was going to call earlier. "After what you said at your wedding I am surprised that you would call." He listens to her continue to speak.

He nods when she says he was proud of his children as she talks about heirs and Tarik. Then she speaks about him thinking of her being weak and then wanting to visit.

"I do care for my children and that includes you and your family. But my caring is different than what humans call caring and my ways are different. I was just stating earlier how things would have been if you were weak. But maybe you favor your vampire side in this respect for you are very feisty." He smiles a little, his daughter did have a fiery side.

"As far as having heirs, my position has changed and my position though strong, I am not in line for the king of vampires as I once was. My fortunes have changed over the years and though I have gained wealth, I have lost my position in line for the throne. Maybe your brother may someday work his way up...I don't know. But I didn't mention that Ryuu, his wife is is part vampire as well, she just favors being a demon so their child would be mostly vampire like Aislina is mostly angel. She is from good lineage on the demon side and so it was a sanctioned marriage to align the demons with the vampires for political reasons."

He finishes his drink. "You are welcome to visit with your family. The twins wanted to visit and Amanda and I had agreed to let them visit our homes one day if you agreed. Tarik lives in a house on my estate and will visit with you when you come."

Vladimir sets down his drink. "I am sorry if our talk upset you. I just wanted to tell you about the situation when you were born. Since I didn't know about you until you were grown, I can only speculate as to what might have happened and why your mother might have given you up. I did not mean to insult you by my stating how things were back then." He gets up and offers to leave, "If you are displeased I shall go. You may visit when you wish and have recovered more."

Eric had gone to Aislina's bedroom and watched her sleep, wondering how her time with her father was going. He had stopped tuning in to her when they got married so she would have privacy and he would only know if there was an emergency.

Lissa says to Nate "Sleep time for Alex. We are getting up early tomorrow." She gives Nate a kiss. "Good night Nate."

Vladimir sighs...."You are not a parasite. I told you I had no idea you even existed until you were grown. There are many halflings in the vampire world of all types. You are not unusual. All are just judged on their strengh and are constantly tested and challenged. You could come and live with me forever and have the right to challenge your brother and the others for your place of power. Just be aware that if you pick a fight it is to the death of your opponent. I offered to leave because you seem very upset and that is not good for you or your baby but I shall stay if that is your wish. I only wanted to help you learn and vent your pent up frustration. I do not run and if you wish to challenge me for my spot you have that right to."

He knew she had a lot of anger for him for "rejecting" her but he had not even known about her until a couple of years ago. He didn't understand why she didn't get that but didn't want to argue with her for her baby's sake. He too was angry at Amanda for causing this mess but did not show his anger for he knew she meant well. What he said was true the poor girl could not hardly get to heaven, if she had come to him she would have had to fight for a place and then the war against the angels. He would have tried to help her but she would have had to learn to fight and kill by herself. Would she have survived? Maybe...but it would have been very slim chances unfortunately from what he saw of her but she did have a lot of determination. It would have been interesting to see and he would have been proud of her. He smiles to himself, he liked that she was a fighter. Vladimir sits thinking as he looks into his empty glass wondering what his angry little daughter would say next.

Lissa put Alex down for bed and sings to him as she looks at the box Vladimir fixed. The craftsmanship was amazing.
