Absortion?

Yes, he had that ability. As he watched surges of black trace along the magical leylines in Damrius' body Maximos could have triggered his LRS and stolen a taste for himself. But that was a trick at best, for meager to mediocre fighters, he wouldnt insult Damrius that way. He didnt take some, or half, he took it all.

The black surge ran down Maximos' left arm, stinging and singing as it danced along his skin. But Maximos was focused, committed, he would have to worry about pain later, right now he had a punch to deliver. And he did so, with gusto. He could feel the dry thud as he impacted Damrius' chest cavity, and at he moment of impact he released the essence he had built up during his previous defensive activity.

Quote:
- Shadow Cannon - Umbra Pugnus
Maximos is able to charge a length of black energy along his fist and arm. When a punch is delivered the energy is able to either race ahead echoing the punch striking first, or trigger once the fist has already connected exploding forward at the contact point. In either case on contact the effect is variant on the situation. The energy will rush forward adding a second force to the attack as if the opponent was struck twice in immediate succession. Or to even explode outwards from the impact point in a small concussive blast of pure force, enough to send weaker opponents soaring backwards, and cause stronger opponents off their footing. The strength of the attack varies depending on the amount of preparation time given.

On this particular occasion as opposed to the secondary punch, Damrius would be able to hear a loud pop akin, to a gunshot or a very big firecracker as a small explosion of pure force shot from the impact point of the fist. It carried just enough force to slam an unexpecting individual, like Damrius back a good five or six feet, simply because he was currently on one leg and off guard.

Visually, a burst of purplish black flame would be seen exploding from Maximos' fist as soft free snow, and snow flakes were scattered in all directions.

And as the burst settled, a sort of black smoke could be seen wafting off of Maximos' arm as he waited to see the extent of the damage he had done.

Damrius was indeed blown back, and rolled in the snow. His breath was knocked out of him for the moment, but that was only one hindrence to his getting up.

He was able to get up, but was hunched over, trying to catch his breath. He forced himself upright, and his breath slowly came back to him. He was in a hand to hand position, ready for another attack, but saving his strength. He still had yet to fully judge this person, and he was in need of doing so. And on such low energy, he wasn't able to pull anything special just yet. But...

Damrius hands began to glow, then black and blue - white lightning began to crackle around them, moving in furious motion that left it hard to make out where it started and where it stopped.

True to his wording, Maximos waited to see the extent of the damage he had done. Damrius was blow back, alive, and breathing. That was all he needed to see, the man wouldnt be given the time to rest. He was being pushed to give his all, as agreed.

And Maximos would already be closing the space between them, stopping just 3ft short of Damrius, his right arm surging with black and violet essence before it was slammed directly into the ground. There would be a sickly violet whiplash across the snow, clearly zooming forward before a powerful blast of black would explode upwards beneath the resting Damrius.

It would be a concussive force, similar to the one he had just experienced, and it would be easy to dodge if, and likely only if he stopped hunching and gasping and forced himself back into motion.

As Maximos brought his brought his arm down, Damrius actually went into action. As the arm came close enough to the ground, Damrius took moved to his left. HIs arm was crackling the black and blue - white lightning now, and as he cahrged at Maximos, he would attempt something very painful for both parties.

Within coming in about a foot, Damrius's right arm, already int he position to do so, would grab at Maximos's neck, and as the hand was reaching for it, he would use his second most powerful, and one of his few distance, attacks.

As he would grab, the force of his speed would hopefully drag them both to the ground, but Zeus's Fury would already be going off in Maximos's face. Being at this low of a charge, it wouldn't do much damage, but it would hurt at such close range.

He was thinking on his feet, good. To make an attack like this, Damrius was moving for the kill. It was clear to see that without some sort of supernatural defense of an attack like that hit someone clear in the face, their day was bound to be messed up for good.

Unfortunately, Maximos could and would not be felled by any such tricks.

There was simply no way in the world Maximos would simply sit there, or launch an attack, meant to make a person move...at a person who was already moving. Damrius' hand moved in, and was thwarted by one easily negligible detail...Maximos' other arm.

He could see it, he could see the blueish black essence writhing into his opponents hand, though whether or not he could he wouldnt have simply let someone reach for his neck. Instead, his right fist smacked the ground while he shoved up from a crouched position. His left hand flew outwards, and upward, shoving Damrius' arm up from beneath it, while his face moved forward aiming to viciously headbutt his opponent.

As soon as Damrius saw Maximos's other arm come up, and felt it grab his wrist, he decided a different tactic. He decided he would let the energy warp through maximos's left arm, and going through fast enough and hot enough that it would fry the nerves in the hand, and probalby down some of the arm. It would also force Maximos to clamp down harder on Damrius's arm, but the hand would either be extremely numb, or completely dead.

And, as he would start to move upwards, Damrius's OTHER hand would attempt to come up, palm open, and slam into Maximos's right temple - wouldn't kill him, but would stun. And hurt.

And, as soon as the palm would connect, Damrius would use his own strength to try and free himself of the would be iron clamp on his wrist.

Least of all would Maximos be brought down, or even really singed by more lightning. He had faced the element more times than he could count, and its constant attempts to shut him down or shut off some part of him never succeeded, and never would.

For most elements or attacks, Maximos would need time to concentrate on and focus on the nature of an attack before it could be replicated. Here, he need nothing of the sort.

Quote:
- Lunoc Replication Seal - Luna Effingo Signum
Covering Maximos' right and left arm are two matching seals. Their function is to absorb and dissect any form of common arcana or energy they are afflicted with. Maximos is then granted temporary access to that ability, each usage taxes the health of his own arm, and inevitably the arm itself. Once the arm is gone, the replication wears off.

Each spell is not of the original element but a negative version, meaning a replicated fireball could even burn a flame elemental. As an exception if struck with light, dark, positive or negative energy based energy the seal will immediately invert the ability to its opposite. The seal however is limited, only able to duplicate simple or low end abilities. Higher level spells, are usually far to complex and require components that cannot be duplicated.

The moment Damrius attempted to send an electrical charge through a set of rubber insulated winter gloves, he would see the bright violet glow engaging down the entire length of Maximos' forearm, to about the elbow. What energy wasnt out right eaten, was fizzled off by the very nature of the glove, and clothes that Maximos' wore, and what remained was little more than a tingle.

Damrius tried to send a stunning shock at Maximos' head only to find that his left arm had bent at the wrist, and he had stomped forward. Almost immediately removing the space between the two fighters as he sent a powerful smack directly for the center of Damrius' chest.

Yes, a smack. For some odd reason, the Shadow's hand was wide open, when it moved to attack. But, as one of the boys arms was being grabbed and the other was engaged in a failed attack, his chest was wide open.

Ka-THWACK!

The sound echoed around the Void as the form of the man by the name of Stephen Lasanti, a.k.a Sutiiven, collided with the ground.

"Owwwwwwwwwwwww..."

He got up and glared at the portal above him. It mocked him for a moment, then promptly closed and disappeared.

"I hate this place..."

With a sigh, he glanced back down and looked to the front of him. Usually in this place some random fighter would show up, and they would enact an ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny - usually leaving Sutii a bloody mess and mostly dead.

Thank god the rules of nature didn't completely apply here. Of course it was also probably the reason he just got randomly summoned here like he did. Hell, he still wasn't sure whether it was actually HIM that was here, or just some weird memory or reincarnation or something.

But now was not the time to ponder theoretical physics and philosophy and the like, as he awaited his opponent.

Sutiiven wouldn't wait long for his opponent nor would he have any exchange in words like most fighters did before a fight. Reinhart knew why he was here and he knew the quicker he ended the sooner he could leave. Unseen to Sutiiven he stood behind a current of his own magic rendering him invisible to the naked eye.

From his position however a row of wicked man sized spears sprang from the ground starting from Reinhart to Sutiiven. Each spear rose in quick sucession stabbing the empty air above it singing as it rose to it's full height then retreated back into the ground. There was no physical wound on the floor, no hole, no crack, nor fissure, these spears looked phantasmal, and were slightly opaque.

Tinted with red on the edges it let off a smoky aura like a heated knife left in the freezer. They came at Sutiiven like a wave, it was just a warning however, Reinhart wouldn't stoop so low to attack while in an unseen state.

Now, Sutiiven could sense energy patterns through his years of martial arts training, and while he wasn't a master at it by any means, he could sense such a current of energy coming up from behind him. Before he had to chance to judge whether or not it was just the Void acting up like it did occasionally, he sensed a wave of energy coming at him. Spinning around just in time to see a volley of spears coming his way, he quickly performed a quick series of evasive acrobatic maneuvers before landing on his feet, ready in an en-guard stance. As he did this, spear after spear connected with the ground, following him, stopping a few feet short of his stopping position.

From the looks of the spears, they were by no means usable in the fight, for Stephen anyway. But obviously the opponent was quite proficient in their usage, and as such, the lad would have to get ready to go all out.

As usual.

Man, he hated this place.

"Bravo."

He said, his voice boomed from every direction towards Sutii.

"Though the acrobatics were a bit much for my taste."

With that he spilled into view as if stepping out from behind his invisible curtain. He wore his simple grey outfit, with his brwn shirt, black boots, and jacket. One eye remained hidden behind his red locks of hair as h stared to Sutii with his one exposed ice blue eye.

"I assume you know why you're here and the sooner we get this over with the better."

A smokey bloody aura eminated from him as he crossed his arms, he grinned at Sutii.

"Shall we?"

[1] Brushing some dust off of his shoulder, Sutiiven smirked at his opponent. "You're one to talk, mister disappearing act. But whatever, to each his own."

With a quick stretch forward of his arms with a quick knuckle crack.

"You seem familiar, but honestly, I don't care at the moment. Let's do this."

He shifted his weight, and entered his usual en-guard position with a quick kiai. Without another moment of thought, he immediately charged at Cris - not in a reckless way, but in a controlled rush, ready to react at any moment. If Cris stood there, he would see Sutii feint a left front snap kick to the chest, which would be followed by the real kick - an upward kick with the right leg - a hitch kick to the face. This kick was normally intended to kick a man off of a horse, but if sucessful, it would be launched at the right moment and with just the right amount of force in order to strike his target and hopefully hurl him back.

The risk? He was really open and airborne. If Cris didn't fall for the feint, Sutii would probably be in a world of hurt.

Shrugging off Sutii's comment Reinhart remained still collecting his tactics and to his surprise Sutii came in for the 'first' attack. It was suitable to call it first since his spears were only a warning. No matter, he stood unmoved and bothered not to flinch as Sutii charged and threw his feint kick. Instinctively Reinhart threw his right foot back to give Sutii's foot room to pass through.

The first kick never came however. With his arms no longer crossed he waited for the next attack and being as he was now it wasn't going to reach his face more than it was going for his left shoulder. Reinhart repeated the same motion as before but in the opposite direstion. Sutii's foot flew past his face brushing against his hair, the shoe was so close Reinhart knew instantly what kind of shoes Sutii had on.

Surprisingly enough all Reinhart did was throw his right forearm out bumping Sutii's left side to push him back some and maybe throw him off balance. Reinhart still wanted to get a feel for his opponent before he employed his tactics.
