[Don't have to reply to the first part, just tossing in stuff for them before the time skip. =o]

Yuki had glared a bit at Neko for his comment, though in his nausea decided better than to try and start an argument this early in the morning. If it was early. Yuki had no idea what the hour was, truth be told.

"A festival?" Hitsu spoke up when she heard Blade, an excited tone to her voice. There had been a tiny, yearly festival back at their home village, but surely something here would be much more elaborate and extreme. "We're going to go, right? Are we allowed to go?"

-----

The day had indeed been a lazy one, but the most awesome day that either of the siblings could remember. They were able to relax, catch up on sleep, eat good food until their stomachs were full and not have a worry in the world for the first time in a long, long time. What had only been a couple of months felt like years, at this point, since they'd been able to just sit back without concern. At some point in the day, they had both changed into their own clothing again.

When everyone began talking about going to the festival, neither of them made any protest. Hitsu seemed very excited about the idea, really. Yuki was pretty indifferent outwardly, he wouldn't admit his curiosity. Though, even he was anxious to do something fun, and this festival would surely be enjoyable. Especially the food.

"Even if we can just get masks, even our clothing stands out among these people... As far as they know, we've got costumes." Yuki suggested as he stepped outside with Neko. Thankfully, the hangover had faded. Yuki had long ago made a mental note not to drink anything else alcoholic here... Ever.

Hitsu practically skipped outside to join them. "I don't care if we have costumes, I just want to be able to see the festival!" She knelt down to Tobi, cupping his fuzzy face in her hands and putting her face close to his nose with her excitement. "You want to go too, don't you? I say if they keep holding us up, we'll just have to go on without them!"

Tobi's tail began to wag as Hitsu took his face in her hands. With a yip to confirm what she said he stood up waiting for them to move.

"Well, I guess we'll find out about the costumes then," Neko said as he pushed on heading down the street. It didn't take as long to get to the festival as expected but it was certainly grand when they got there. Then evening was setting but the entire place with lite up with torches, lanterns, and even those using and entertaining others with fire magic. The air was full of music and the smell of food and the street was full of vendors set up especially for this event.

It took a moment for Neko's eyes to settle on any one thing but he finally spotted a vendor selling costumes and masks.

"Well you don't look to be in the festival spirit," The man at the stall said.

"Yeah, looking to fix that." Looking over the different masks and costumes, Neko settled on a black and blue demon mask for himself while looking over what else they might have. "Do you have anything doopy? I dunno if my friend, Yuki, will be able to pull anything else."

Following Neko to the stall, Blade looked over the things they had there while grabbing a black and red dragon mask. He wasn't quite certain what else he should grab, so he decided to wait to see what the others did first. While he did so, he looked out towards the festival, taking in all the sights and sounds.

The air had a good scent to it, and now and then he'd catch a glimmer of fire from various areas. It all had a nice atmosphere to him, and hopefully the others would be able to enjoy it as well.

"Man.. this is definitely something..."

After neko had chosen something, poke stepped forward to check out all the different colored masks that were presented. It didn't take her long to pick out something, a blue dragon mask for her. Happy with her choice she went over to blade to see what he was looking at, and noticed the fire magic displays.

"....WOW!" She shouted, eyes glued to the amazing special effects that were going on. "That looks so cool!" She felt slightly jealous at the fact she couldn't perform any cool magic stunts, but she pushed it down.

Riyo carefully looked over all the different goods these dragons offered at this "festival" thing. What an odd yet intriguing idea. Smiling, she started examining all the different masks they offered. Her hands traced across an angry-looking red mask that appeared ready to bite her fingers off. "I like this."

Hitsu was eager to follow Neko when he took the lead, looking all about once they were within sight of the festival. She'd never seen anything like it before! More than likely, she'd be little better than the children here, watching and inspecting everything in awe. It took her a little while to realize that everyone was selecting a mask, being distracted by everything there was to see even from where they stood.

At last, she joined in with the others in looking for a mask for herself. When she did settle on one, it seemed the most innocent looking out of the bunch. Colored a very pretty white and powder blue, with smooth features rather than the vicious and toothy designs that seemed more plentiful.

Taking an extra few moments to select another for her brother, she returned to him with a dark blue mask for him. 'Doopy' it was not, but not ferocious either. She'd overheard Neko's comment as she returned, biting her lip with a grin to hold back from chuckling.

Yuki was glaring at Neko, contemplating giving him a fist to the back of his head, when Hitsu offered the mask to him. He wasn't picky, so he made no protest to her choice, offering a quiet thanks.

Neko chuckled at the sight of Yuki's reaction, putting his mask in place. "Don't be such a prude." He teased as he paid. The masks were fairly cheap it seemed, or their money was worth a lot more here. Either way he was easily able to pay for everyone's before he moved on.

Mitsu, much like the children in the area, started to wander about once they were inside the festival. Every little thing caught her attention until she thought she would be dizzy taking it all in. When it seemed that everyone was looking at the masks she made her way over to gaze at the selections. Most were frightening and fierce with only a hand full that didn't invoke fear. "That one's pretty." She commented to Hitsu seeing the mask she had selected. For her, she was uncertain what to choose so she didn't grab anything. About to walk off she felt an arm on her shoulder stopping her in her tracks. When she started to look back a mask was fitted over her face blocking her view until it was situated.

"I'm...sorry...for yesterday." Neko said softly. "I...might have got a little carried away." He was sure to say this while only a few were around....the few that had nagged him to apologize. He gave the white and silver mask he had placed on her face a little tug to pull it where it needed to be. It seemed to suit her, the dragon's face was very canine looking.

Looking through the mask at Neko, Mitsu gave a short nod. "Y...yeah. Umm...t...thank you." And then it was awkwardly silent. She didn't have much else to offer other than her acknowledgment and thanks.

"Well..." Neko felt that he should say something else but nothing came to mind. "I'm going to get food." And thus he wanted off and into the crowd in search of substance.

Amused with the little exchange between Neko and Yuki, Blade shook his head to himself before putting the mask on. He took a look around at the others with their own masks and it seemed that everyone had something rather suiting to their character. With a mild grin, his attention soon shifted back towards Neko as he finally apologized to Mitsu.

"Now that wasn't so hard was it?" he asked while patting the guy on the back, "Food sounds pretty good right about now..."

Surely the dragons would have some awesome festival foods. Secretly he was also interested in what games it might have to offer. Those tend to be rather fun to try out. After checking to see if the others were coming, he went off to tail after Neko.

Pokes attention was drawn away from the display long enough to hear the exchange between neko and mitsu. "Much better" she commented to neko, nodding her head in approval before she head his was going to find food. "Hey, wait up for me, I wanna get something too!"

She was about to bound off after blade and neko, but stopped, and then turned to mitsu. "You wanna go get something to eat too mitsu?" she asked the girl, thinking that the wolf girl might wanted to tag along with them.

The glare that Yuki shot toward Neko was soon hidden behind his own mask as he put it on, trying to make the best of the situation. This place seemed safe enough... Nakedness and lack of alcohol tolerance aside. He just had to remember not to drink anything in excess... And stay far, far away from the bathhouse. Check. He could do this.

Hitsu was off even before Neko had finished putting on Mitsu's mask, following the wonderful smells floating their way from the food booths. Yuki followed, hoping to at least keep track of her in the crowd. His worries still showed through, despite how much he was trying to relax.

-------

The Festival stretched on long through the night. The crowd only seemed to dissipate a little as time wore on, if only because the youngsters of the town had worn off all of their energy and went home to bed. Even then, festivities were just as plentiful; if only more aimed at amusing the adults once all of the children had gone.

The days passed without threats, or so much as whispers of danger. In what seemed a short period, the band had spent two months within the dragon's city. Even Yuki had finally let his guard down, at last convinced that they were safe with the dragons. Neither he nor his sister seemed too keen on leaving, though they both knew that eventually that time would come where they would need to move on. In which direction, however, no one seemed to know. They'd pretty much formed a tribe of their own, so going back to the way things had been was very much impossible now.

At least their unexpected adventure had ended on a positive note, right? ..... Right?

-------

"Lord Hakim!"

The silence of Hakim's chambers was broken by the calls of one of the new guards. He sounded slightly frantic, likely one who hadn't seen any sort of combat aside from spars shared with his buddies. As he halted in his tracks, he dropped to one knee and bowed his head respectfully to his Elder.

"My deepest apologies for disturbing you, Honored Elder. We have captured a pair of intruders out near the western border. One claims they've come looking for their comrades." He spoke quickly, eyes fixed on the floor in front of him. "I believe he is one of them..." He meant not to sound rude; only to confirm that the one he mention was most certainly not a dragon.

The two months have been fairly enjoyable for the thief. Aside from behind able to really relax, he was able to learn a thing or two about the dragons, which was a definite plus in his book. It was all really nice and all, but wanderlust was beginning to kick in. Regardless how good a place was, he just had trouble staying anywhere for too long. Though, he didn't know how the others felt. If everyone else wanted to stay, he may have to strike out on his own again as the restlessness grows.

Before the silence had been broken, Hakim had just been meditating peacefully. Opening his eyes, he looked at the one who had come in to bear news. Stroking his beard, he had to wonder if the two new strangers were really affiliated with their current guests. They hadn't mentioned any missing comrades, but there was always the chance he supposed.

"Go ahead and bring them here. Also, send a messenger out to our guests to summon them as well. If he is with them, we'll find out soon enough," he said calmly.

It was a strange feeling for Riyo to be surrounded by people who accepted her in a society for such a long period of time. And not a bad feeling, either. She'd come to know some of the other dragons and let herself grow comfortable with the familiarity. They weren't her species, and weren't related to her in any way... And for some reason, it only brought her comfort.

She didn't want to leave this place. Didn't want to go back into the real world with all the eyes that would poke and prod at her. Judge her. Hate without even really knowing why. And yet... There was an ominous feeling rising in her gut. As if the clouds just beyond the horizon were approaching faster with a thunderbolt aimed directly for her.

---

Atticus couldn't really say he loved this place. It wasn't normal by any means... Not that he was either. But he had no intention of staying here. Every once in awhile, he would try to summon a bird to him... But none of them ever made it out this far. More like a trap than an oasis in his opinion. He spent most of his time in the cabin, sewing or playing violin... When he wasn't figuring out the best way to leave, that is.

Mitsu seemed to enjoy this place just as well. It had taken about two weeks for her to come out of her shell with the new people around them. The children in the area had her curious and they seemed just as curious about her. She had spent a lot of her time inside watching them play games in the street not entirely familiar with what they were doing.

Somewhere in the back of her mind she thought she remembered what it was like to play games. It was supposed to be fun right? Then one day she was asked to join in and now Mitsu had a sort of play date everyday with the children in the neighborhood. Even now she was out in the yard with them as they tossed rings toward a target that they had brought over, Tobi quick to go fetch any that had missed. He seemed to enjoy the attention as well.

Neko, while glad that they were living a peaceful existence at the moment, couldn't help but feel restless. He was used to roaming and hunting...but there was no need for that here. There was only so far to roam and food was easy enough to obtain. In his boredom of feeling cooped up he had taken to roaming the forest that surrounded the city, which he quickly found wasn't always safe. Large animals, ones he didn't recognize, resided there and more than a few of them were vicious. Even the plants at times were grabby, out for a meal leaving him to try and sneak back and fix his clothes before Hitsu saw the state they were in. More often then not he got rid of them, trying to wear something easily replaced.

Today he sat out front of the house, boredly watching Mitsu play with the local kids as he sharpened his blades. In the last couple of months his knives hadn't seen better care and he had even managed to add a few new ones to his collection. The weaponry the dragons made were of high quality and would no doubt tolerate a lot of abuse.

When it came to pokes opinion of the place, she definitely enjoyed being here. At first she was happy to watch the dragons do various things, exploring the city by herself or with the others. Then she discovered some of the more 'military' side of things. Apparently the dragons were also keen on fighting, and the minute she had heard of classes that were based on martial arts, she was there almost every day participating as well. It was weird at first, since she was the only non dragon being there, and the heat made her unable to go for long periods of time, but the dragons didn't seem to mind her in the classes. Hell, some of the other students enjoyed her presence; they were curious as to how she fought with her staff, or the style of combat she had learned, and regularly challenged her to sparring sessions. She may have lacked their strength and magic skills, but what she made up for it with her tenacity and willpower, so she won her fair share of the fights.

It had been a very long time since poke had ever felt this content, this happy to be around other people she considered to be friends. And when she thought this, it also made her feel a pang of guilt and regret. She hadn't forgotten about her childhood friends, and she still had every intention of traveling in order to find them. But she also wanted to stay here with friends she had made. There was no way she could leave them now, and she knew her childhood friends would understand.

Even so, regardless of how she felt, she knew that eventually, they would have to leave this place. There was no way she could live here permanently, her body wouldn't be able to cope with the constant heat and lack of water. If she wasn't sparring or walking around, she had to duck to the hot springs just to stay hydrated (and hope to gaia she wouldn't see anyone she knew there)

Today, she had her staff slung over her shoulder as if it was a giant sword, and was walking towards the house after having a fun session of fighting and kicking a** "HEY!" She shouted towards mitsu and neko, waving exciting.

Riyo was busy with Atticus in the cottage... Learning how to read and write.

Weeks ago, she'd seen Atticus reading something and asked... Well... Begged him to show her how. Surprisingly to Atticus, she'd picked it up rather quickly.

"Alright. Now write 'Sally walked through the tall grass at midnight.'" The raven instructed, pointing to the piece of parchment on the table.

Riyo looked at him with a raised eyebrow, but quickly started to write something down. When she finished, she held it up for his approval. It read 'Who the ******** is Sally?'

Atticus sighed and folded his arms. "... How about 'I'm a sarcastic b***h.'"

Smiling, she sat the paper back down and once again wrote something out, holding up 'Atticus is a sarcastic b***h' once she finished.

"... I think I've done all that I can for you."

As much of a pain she could be, Atticus couldn't help but be mildly impressed with the rate she learned at. He supposed it could just be the fact that she was older and it was easier for her to process these things... But even then it had only taken her a month to learn what people do over years.
