Rei smiled softly down to him. She walked for a bit before finding a quiet little place to sit. She sat down letting bakura sit beside her "Would you like me to hold onto your money?" she asked noticing he had no pockets. "I promice i'll give it back." she said. being in the land of theifs she was sure not everybody was trusting with money. She took a bite out of her meat while waiting for his answer. she wasent very lady like but she dident care.

Bakura was, indeed, hesitant to give his money up. He held his clenched fist to his chest in a guarded manner, glaring at Rei suspiciously. Then, remembering that she had been the one to give him the money to start with, he handed it over without a word. He leaned against her shoulder, nibbling on his own food.

Rei smiled softly and put the coin back in the pouch in her dress. Letting him lean on her she quietly ater her meal.

"Guess what, Rei? Guess what?" Bakura seemed to have quickly recovered from his embarrassment after eating. "Father's coming home soon. He's happy lately. They just found out how to get into a priest's tomb."

"Oh really? that's wonderful. It takes alot to get into a tomb im sure" she said rubbing his head.She had finished her secondd stick and threw the stick away. She had noticed they had passed a candied fruit stall. all the children had gathered around it "Do you like candied fruit?" she asked. If so she would have to get them some dessert.

Bakura's expression changed for a moment-- he almost glared at Rei. He was suspicious of her. It wasn't fitting for someone, a stranger, to be so generous. He looked almost frightened; tears stung his eyes for a moment. He quickly blinked them back. "I won't go to the palace. You can't make me!" he said viciously. It would have sounded like his adult self, had his voice been deeper.

Rei blinked confusedly "I never planed too....." shesaid "Are you ok?" she asked looking down to him "What makes you think I was going to take you there?"

"I dunno. They tell bad stories about people from the palace. Khai said that servants will come to villages and try to steal the children." Bakura wiped his eyes on his sleeve. "Mama says not to believe what Khai says, but I don't know why else you're doing this. You're weird."

"No im not here to steal you. And im doing this because im nice and your a sweet kid." she patted his head. "And mabye I am weird. But nobody is exsactly the same.Im just diffrent I guess."

"No, you're weird." Bakura said, confirming it in his mind. He sighed, then looked up at the sky. The sun was setting. "Come on. I need to go home." He stood up, brushing dirt off of his legs.

"Alright" Rei said standing up and heading twards his home. When they neared she took his money from her dress and handed it to him "hear ya go."

Bakura took it back silently, then seemed to hesitate. "Thank you..." He mumbled, ducking quickly into his hut. His father had come back home while he had been out, but luckily his mother had already explained the situation of Rei with him. Bakura's parents were both sitting on the ground, talking, when Bakura entered. Quickly Bakura went to his dad, hugging him tightly around the neck., chattering excitedly.

Rei couldent help but smile as she entered. Bakura seemed sohappy. She liked that.
