Lady Blodwynn Reddemon FlashbackJon Reddemon I'm toying with a Mafia themed force. Catachans for my troopers, Armoured fists, "Limos", etc Only if they're all in pinstripe suits. It's REQUIRED BY LAW. Anybody in the higher ups will atleast have slick hair, but the pinstripe suits might be hard. Any suggestions? Make the Catachans the normal "soldiers" of the family and convert Necromunda Delaque members into sub bosses and capos, by giving them hats and shirts to go with the long coats. I was thinking Chatacnans. But I dont really have access to any store with Specilast games, and I dont have a way to order them.

Mat you mean your local store doesnt let you bitz order? Our old local store did, but he closed because he was a Rouge Trader store, and now the closest is about 30mins away. And thats just to get to the accutal city of Ottawa, not the municipality. Then we gota survive the hazerds of a Big city mall to make it to the Games-Workshop.

I would see if I could get a friend to order what I wanted online and give them the money. I often do this if I dont have a credit card with me.

What's the optimal loadout for a Leman Russ? I just stripped mine with Simple Green - though with less than stunning results - and I discovered that the glue had been destroyed. The thing is about as sturdy as a jigsaw puzzle, affording my the chance to redesign it.
I originally had sponsons with Heavy Bolters, and a Lascannon in the hull. What's the best way to assemble it? Should I go for full firepower, or just slap on a hull Heavy Bolter and call it a day?

Its 30 to get to the outskirts. Another 20 to get to the mall, 5 to find parking, 20 to locate the store. I dont have a way to get in, so its really bad.

IMHO, now, I haven't played much 40K, but I'd use tanks for what they are designed for: Fighting other vehicles...if there are vehicles to fight. sweatdrop
I'd probably just go for Battlecannon + H-Bolter + H-Bolter + H-bolter. I'm a fan of Lascannons though for anti vehicle, so if I went that route I'd have the hull mounted gun as a Lascannon while maintaining the two sponson mounted guns as H-bolters.
As far as anti-infantry goes, and Guard, I'd probably go Hellhounds or H-weapon teams with H-bolter, but that's off topic.

Finally replying, lawlz.
Yeah, I'm thinking Ground Support, blasting away infantry. Three heavy bolters can smack anything around and the Battle Cannon can menace vechiles and Power Armor.
But I was thinking about the Heavy Weapons teams, and I have a question. Do the individual Heavy Weapons teams within a squad have to maintain coherency? I'm curious, because being able to have a pair of Autocannons supporting my main thrust with the third covering the flank is wonderful. It gives a lot of flexibility.
Three Autocannons forced to remain within 2" of each other... isn't so flexible.

As far as I know, those HWT troops are still part of the squad, so yes, they would have to maintain coherency.
I always felt that if you want HWTs, don't bother putting them in squads, rather just put them into your Command Platoon. Support Squads in the Command Platoon list do not have to deploy together(Meaning you can have your Command Squad on one edge of the table, and your HWTs on the other edge) and such.
I also hear that Autocannons aren't really worthwhile either, Because even though they are higher Str., they won't be killing Infantry faster than a heavy bolter, and against vehicles you'd be much better off fielding Lascannons. Personally I'd stick with Mortars, H-Bolters, and Lascannons for my HWTs.
Mind you, I've never played Guard(Marine player myself, Chaos and Loyal), but this is what I'd do IF I played Guard sweatdrop

Pity, really. It makes Heavy Weapons less entertaining for me, since I have to keep my mine close to make sure I can provide proper fire support and get multiple squads of HWs to cover them as well. I really am not sold on the idea of a ten wound Lascannon; I've seen it work, but I've seen a bunch of uppity Gaurds rushing foward to Rapid Fire work much better.
And Autocannons are surprisingly good. I like them and Missile Launchers. Missile Launchers menace more things, but not as well as the Autocannons. And the Autocannons work well, too - their strength lets them smack up a Marine or a Carnifex. Might not break the armor, but it will wound. Plus, it instant kills most medium infantry. Heavy Bolters can spew out more lead...
But the Autocannons just hurt more. And I can menace light vechiles.
And Mortars suck. Guess Weapons have a 1/3 chance of hitting where you want them, and even that is dependent on you calling the distance right. Basilisks make up for this with raw power - the Mortar is so piddly. Three blasts that have a decent chance of plopping into the earth and that are weaker than Bolters...
I know, it sucks. Mortars are lovely, but in game terms, they just aren't worth it.

I love Lascannons simply because of the Odds Game. At Strength 9, I'm less likely going to mess up a roll against most vehicles I'll be seeing on the table. Then again, my current meta-game(Lots of Guard, Tau) sees a lot of vehicles, so I need answers to them which leads me to my love of Lascannons.
